The following two questions discussed on how Naoki Yoshida (YoshiP) answered the following questions that involve the game sales, projection and predictions of how well FFXVI (or his knowledge on games today are sold.) YoshiP: Yes that was indeed the case, but when it comes to FF, there are places where you can't turn back once you get into it. but I'm being quite drastic here, and precisely because I'm a creator here, I have to be particular about the business aspect, and if I'm just creating this game out of self-satisfaction, it will definitely not connect to the next. So even though if I get told that it was a fun game, but if this doesn't translate to sales then we won't be able to create the next game. So our policy at Creative Business Unit 3 here is that at the very least, create a game where you yourself think it's interesting, and make the game earn in black numbers (※A Japanese word meaning "profit", loss of profit is "red numbers"), even if it's just a little. By doing so, we will still get money and we'll be able to work on the games we like or things that we think are interesting so I think this time.......well......well if I think this wouldn't work out, I'd actually go destroy those projects myself, like, "I'm sorry this is impossible" and then work on other projects to supplement it, and yeah I would tell them to cancel this project. I mean, I've already done this numerous times throughout my career but still, yeah since I can't turn back this time when it comes to creating this game and I told them that we'll try to sell it all out so allow me to put this amount of budget I need for this game. The answer I got from them was "Yeah, do your best"...so...yeah. But then I've been generating profits from FFXIV anyway, and manage to contribute a lot to the company and it was thanks to the Warriors of Light that made it happen, so it was hard for the company to say "no" to what I've proposed I assume (laughs).

YoshiP: By the way, the system of lump-sum payment is applicable only in Japan※1 but when it comes to overseas, basically if you can just "break in" if you want to. This can be weird, but they basically just go "just purchase a shelf". What this means is that, let's take a street-level store for example: when release date approaches there will be other games released along with your game, yes? You can brush all of them aside and say you want to place one huge portion of the segment to sell, say, FF16, then you can ask them how much do you need to pay them to do so, and they'll do so. They would also tell you that you can ship them as many copies as you want to and they'll return the extra copies that they couldn't sell. Therefore to see how sales would fare will be starting from...the amount of pre-orders...but when it comes to pre-orders, anyone can pre-order whenever they want to these days and not many would do so....so sales wise we'll look at the first week, to see how many have purchased the game digitally as well as from wholesale dealers, so the sell out starts there, and the rest will be predictions: How much the game has reached to the hands of gamers, so predictions will be made. So we'll use those detailed data in advance and create a simulation. The reason is because we'll have proof at hand on how much the copies have reached the players. For example, for FFVII Remake, we calculate based on what we can see how many user base do we have and calculate from there, so judging from the content we have this time, we can estimate that there are certain generation base that hasn't played a single Final Fantasy game purchased this game but since we are making it a full real time action, we can calculate once on how much it has dropped in percentage for certain player base who would prefer turn based Final Fantasy games and create a simulation based on that, but ultimately the results cannot be certain until we open the lid (read: release the game) so it can be hard to tell.

So this is my personal thoughts on the matter but how do you approach the post-release sales period like there's a change in certain behavior, and what kind of marketing strategy would you take after the game is released? YoshiP: When it comes to sales extension, well, this can slightly different from country to country, but when it comes to Japan, I can bring up one good example which is Slam Dunk (which is recently aired in theaters).
For the generations who are fans of the show, they would be extremely interested about it, but there was a commotion when it comes to the promotion prior to its release and this caused everyone to have doubts. But once the fans watched the movie, they'd go "You better watch this movie!", or they'd go recommend those who haven't watch the movie but expressed interest in it and nothing beats that kind of attraction when it comes to what PR can do even today. Though as for me, I'd go back to my roots, and convey properly on how the game has been made and released properly, and if people find the game interesting, streaming from all around the world who will be streaming this game will convey their comments and the louder those voices are, then it might encourage others who hasn't buy the game yet to give it a try, purchase a PS5 along. Another thing I've realized that younger generations don't tend to be particular about the release date, and tend to based their purchase on what's popular within their community circles, and what everyone is playing. In fact this is what happened when it comes to Apex, Fortnite, and this is definitely what the flow goes for today, so what I did is to make estimations on budget, laying out the plan saying "FFXVI is coming out", and making simple approach to try getting the staff members in the shop to convince gamers to buy FFXVI along when they purchase a PS5. So this time, I've laid out a plan on sales that would last about 18 months.※2 Even when looking at the ownership ratio for PS5, there's no mistake that there will a drop in absolute ratio rather than looking at the games that are released for both PS4 and PS5.

From there we may make adjustments so that it'll be easier for people to obtain them, and we wouldn't need it to be an online game to do so. Therefore, I'm not looking at the short term sales at all.

Let me preface this by saying I have been a MPJ superfan since his highschool days. We can be an unstoppable dynasty, if he regains full fitness which he can because his back condition is not degenerative. We 3 peat with him being Ben Simmons before back problems with KD's jumper on offence and a truly dominant defender erasing offences on the perimeter and at the rim. I have followed him from high school to the NBA and am truly thankful to the Nuggets for giving him a chance to show his God given abilities. Right now we are seeing 50-60% of Porter's true potential due to back problems. He was a true generational talent in highschool with the potential to become one of the greatest players ever. He was dominant at the rim and from range while having incredible dexterity and mobility for a big man. I pray to God we see him at his full potential playing for our team cause that will be like watching Golden State with KD where KD was homegrown.

I never thought that I would get a need to make this post, but a certain cis white male Yugituber has invoked a recent push in the idea that Set Rotation is the solution to a majority of Yu-Gi-Oh's problems, and that it's very reasonable for it to be implemented, be it replacing the main format, or otherwise.
Before I explain my reasoning as to why this is a ludicrous idea, let's go over what Set Rotation is, and what it COULD potentially fix.
What is Set Rotation? (No it's not the card)
For the few of you who don't know, Set Rotation is the main gimmick of some other TCG's 'Standard' formats, i.e. MTG and Hearthstone. The idea is that the only cards that are legal in this Standard format are cards that have been printed in the past 2 or 3 years, and any sets that go past this timer 'Rotate Out', and become no longer legal for the format.
So, what would this potentially mean for Yu-Gi-Oh?
Slows Down Powercreep
This is the big one, and the main thing pro-rotation players hone in on as to why Set Rotation would be a step in the right direction. With every card being on a soft time limit, Konami would no longer have an incentive to make each set stronger than the last to drive in sales, and can instead sell sets on the notion of "This old set has less time to live, but this new set is on a fresh limit." This theoretically means that the rampant powercreep we've been seeing these last few years can be curved down majorly, and we can go back to the strategic back-and-forth gameplay we've been yearning for.
Curation of Good Formats
This next one is a little more nuanced. With the need to keep track of 10 000+ cards no longer on the menu, Konami can have an easier time designing exciting, interesting formats for the players to try out. They can print archetypes without the sorry that this random card from 2005 would break it, or that this random 2018 staple blows it out of the water. They could even pick and choose cards that have since rotated and reprint them in a core set, or as some have proposed, a yearly "Base Set", containing all the staples that have since rotated out of Standard.
And... that's about it! Those are pretty much all there is to Set Rotation, and how it could fix many of Yu-Gi-Oh's issues. And to be fair, curving down powercreep and the potential for fun gameplay experiences does look very enticing.
Let me explain why it isn't so simple.
25 Years of Fans for What?
Of the big 3 card games, MTG, Yu-Gi-Oh! and Pokemon, Yu-Gi-Oh! is the only one where its main format does not feature Set Rotation. It would be pretty disingenuous to say that a negligible amount of people were drawn to this game FOR its lack of Set Rotation, instead of DESPITE it. And a large amount of the playerbase, and TCG players in general, don't appreciate their cards being on a blatant timer. "Well, they were on a timer anyways thanks to powercreep!" Not to the staples, they aren't. Generic cards last a solid 6? 7 years of consistently good use until a new card takes its place? And while it's true that archetypes certainly face a large brunt of the powercreep problem, many players simply don't care. They want to keep playing that rogue deck they always liked, and it being no longer legal due to just being too old is a real downer on them. This leads us to...
It Can be an Alternate Format! Or Can it?
It's no surprise that Konami is absolute shit at managing alt formats. This, alongside some other points I'll get to later, is an example of Set Rotation simply asking waaaay too much out of Konami. If a Rotation format were to be introduced alongside the current, "Legacy" format we're all familiar with, if Konami doesn't push it out the ass and shove it down our throats, it's natural thanks to the past 25 years of its history that the Legacy format would be more popular. Simply adding Set Rotation this far into a game's life requires extremely careful planning from a company, and extreme customer loyalty. And Konami does not check either of those boxes.
I Like Money
You can construct this as an advantage for Konami, but if they don't want to heavily support two ongoing formats at the same time, the price of the game can become a major issue. The current price of the game wouldn't be going anywhere. If Kashtira, Purrely and VS are any indicators, just because cards are new and being opened a lot doesn't mean they'll be cheap. Now add on that you can only play these cards for all of 3 years maximum before you have to invest all over again into another deck core as well as all of this new format's staples. This could be one of the reasons why Standard in Magic The Gathering died out, alongside WOTC removing the primary incentive to play Standard in the first place.
Oops! Legacy Support!
This is probably the biggest physical hurdle that needs to be jumped if we want Set Rotation to be a thing. A huge amount of Konami's current product is the printing of support for archetypes much, much older than 3 years in order to push it into meta viability. This would, simply put, not be able to exist in a rotating format. A common counterpoint thrown around is that whenever Konami prints legacy support, they can just announce that the archetype its for is now in the Standard rotation!
There are many problems with this.
Firstly, this would probably be the nail in the coffin for TCG and OCG never being able to unify as formats. And the stick in the mud is VJump Promos. Every VJump magazine, the OCG prints a mechanically exclusive card into it, usually one that supports an archetype. If this would bring it into the Standard rotation, all of a sudden we have one format that has Sky Striker legal, and one that doesn't. Secondly, some archetypes are just too old or too big to be reprinted. If CYAC were to release with this Standard format in mind, we would be seeing a TON of old-ass Superheavy Samurai cards shooting up in price, cards in sets now out of print, so Konami wouldn't even be making any money off of those purchases. And if Konami were to, say, print the archetypes the new cards are supporting in some of of supplementary set, not only does that have the possibility to bring product fatigue, do you really want the entire HERO and Blackwing archetype again?
Simply Overhaul Your Game
This is another point in Konami just not being competent or trustworthy enough to pull something like this off. Set Rotation could be implemented, IF Konami heavily supports alt formats, IF Konami decides to overhaul their entire product design, IF Konami is willing to curb their powercreep, and IF Konami even wants to take this major, major risk in the first place. That's a lot of big ifs towards a company that can't even livestream their events half the time, and a company that made fucking Metal Gear Survive.
Other, Healthier Solutions
Many of the pro-rotation players argue that this is the way to solve Yu-Gi-Oh's, admittedly, large, Powercreep problem. I argue that there are other ways to solve this. Ones that aren't as large of risks for Konami, ones that don't overhaul the game as we know it, and ones that can reliably provide a good break from current Yu-Gi-Oh!, which is realistically what we all want.
Pretty much the only alternative formats Konami is willing to pour some attention to are Speed Duels and Time Wizard. GOAT and Edison appear to be doing the best out of the legacy formats we have, and Konami has even shown some interest in it with Hidden Arsenal Chapter 1, a set that printed a whole bunch of Edison cards and even gave us an un-errata for Armory Arm. All it takes is one or two sets to make either one of these formats a budget friendly option, and Konami can just sit back and not need to use that brain of theirs. A non-rotating, static format that you can always fall back on to have a good time when current Yu-Gi-Oh! is getting bothersome on you. Speed Duels are doing quite well, with Konami opting for single boxes, DUDE style, instead of the traditional booster pack format, and they once again give players a nice refresher when they're tired of getting Zone-locked for 9 or getting Kaiju'd for the tenth game in a row.
I hope that I've reasonably laid out my reasoning as to why Set Rotation, while having good intentions, is reasonably, and practically not possible for Konami to implement in this day and age.
TLDR: Set Rotation helps for Powercreep and making good formats, but IMO ignores 25 years of history, Konami's refusal towards alt formats, cost, and product design. GOAT/Edison or Speed Duels are probably better for something like this.

Hi,
I am currently in the process of rough-drafting a game called Mutually Assured Construction (MAC), set during the dawn of the Cold War in which players assume power of various third-world country. The premise is to develop your fledgling nation under the looming threat of nuclear war.
The game is turn based, with income mechanics similar to catan. At the start of each turn, the turn player rolls 2d6 and the highest number is the production number.
For example, if a 5 and a 3 are rolled, the production number is 5, and if I have a Ore production token on 5, I gain 1 Ore card.
At the end of their turns, players can place their resource cards in the market, removing it from their deck and placing it in front of them.
If at the end of their turn, an active market card allows for a resource to be sold, a player can sell that resource for funds.
If on anyones turn, any double is rolled (1/6 chance), you draw one market card for both the STATES and SOVIETS. At the start of the game, draw two from both sides. Destroy a market card when it’s resource cap has been filled
Funds are how players gain VPs and Development cards (literally just development cards from Catan)
Back to the nuclear war part, every market card has a SOVIETS/ STATES affiliation. Selling resources to either doctrine gives you partnership points for that doctrine.
Certain market cards and development cards are more effective with higher partnership points, making gaining partnership points crucial to gaining more funds in the long term.
However, there is always a NUKE RISK meter, which fluctuates based on random chance and player actions throughout the game. If this NUKE RISK meter reaches 5, nuclear war is triggered and countries are destroyed based on how many partnership points they have (how aligned they are).
The country remaining with the most VPs + Guns (another producible resource) wins.
If nuclear war hasn’t been triggered, the country that reaches 10 VPs first wins.

Thought I contribute by starting a thread about the team's logos (plus the ELF's own). As always: Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder so share your opinion, so here is mine:
It is almost impossible to rank 1-17 so I put them in buckets:
TOP TIER:
-) ELF: I just think it is very well designed and the colors are fantastic. Is it a fraudulent copy from Major League Baseball and NBA? Yes. Does that matter? No. It is a great logo.
-) PANTHERS: I love it, it comes closest to a NFL team's logo. Has the name in it and a well drafted Panther head, strong colors as well
-) VIKINGS: A difficult motto (a head of a Viking) perfectly executed as a logo. Clean, clear, immediately recognizable
-) THUNDER: I like the name dominantly sitting on top with the bold shooting down.
GOOD ONES:
-) DRAGONS: I liked the original one better but what's not to like about a Dragon head as a logo?
-) SEA DEVILS: I think it is a very cool and recognizable, compact logo. What I don't like is the "water-mouth" across it
OK-ish:
-) CENTURIONS: Nice try but I hate that it is looking towards the left instead of towards the right. Also the face-mask could be more simplistic.
-) MUSKETEERS: I like the concept and it looks clean, but it misses an "it-factor" and the non-colored version is meh.
-) KINGS: Reminds me of something cartoonish from Disney and the colors are lame, but it's not bad as such.
-) SEAMAN: The idea is ok but can anyone remove the football please??? Also the lines of the "S" should be thicker / more dominant and the anchor should be more simplistic

-) RAIDERS: Looks unrecognizable in white and has to much going on in black. I doubt people even realize that this is a wing/sword-combo.
-) GALAXY: Too much stuffed into that Galaxy. Less would have been more. Clear downgrade from the original one. (I hope they use the white version on their helmets. Last year's version was almost unrecognizable on TV)
-) ENTHRONERS: Too simple. Not creative. At least it is not ugly.
-) GUARDS: People tell me Swiss folks like that kind of style. Well. I think the flag looks like randomly patched on and the face + helmet + speer is too much stuff overall. Too complex for a sports-logo IMHO
-) FIRE: This could be so much better. The "F" is way to slim, the "fire" not aggressive. Rather reminds me of a dude with long hair standing in the wind
-) SURGE: Looks like a fat yellow edgy worm. If that's a "surge" nobody should be scared. Any electrician around to boost that up?

Intro
In this post I will discuss how you can utilize this NPC to improve your multitool hunting. Below, I divulge the never-before revealed secret that determines which class of multitool he gives you.Who is the Armorer?
The Armorer is a hire-able Vy'keen NPC who you can hire to man a Weapons Terminal at one of your bases, including your freighter base.How do you get a free multitool from the Armorer?
After you've completed a series of quests that he gives you, the Armorer will start offering you a free multitool, which he says that he has made "in your honor".Daily Quest
The armorer's free multitool interaction is considered a "daily quest" in the game files.This is one of several daily quests available in No Man's Sky from various NPCs. Each of the base NPCs goes into an endless loop of daily quests that they offer.
In the NMS save file, each quest has a "recurrence" time, after which the quest will reset. Inspecting the save file, you will find the recurrence time is a unix timestamp for the next occurrence of 3:00 AM GMT (8:00 PM PDT) after the last time the game was saved.
For example, if you open your save on Tuesday at 4:45 PM PDT on Jan 1, then the timestamp will be for 8:00 PM PDT the same day. If you open that save on Feb. 21 at 9:34 PM PDT, then the recurrence timestamp will be updated on all the daily quests to Feb. 22 at 8:00 PM PDT.
For certain daily quests, you can only do it once per day, such as the quest given by the exocraft NPC in your base (he sends you to an abandoned building).
However for the armorer's daily quest, the recurrence deadline is when the class of multitool he offers, changes. That is because the recurrence timestamp is also used as the seed value for the procedural generation of the class of tool given by the Armorer.
Example of a Guaranteed S-Class Date for the Armorer
I have discovered that certain recurrence timestamps/seed values will cause the Armorer to consistently give an S-class tool from most pools.On Memorial Day 2023 (May 29), I noticed that no matter what system I flew to, I kept getting S-class tools from the Armorer aboard my freighter. Once or twice he offered an A-class, but almost everywhere it was an S. The next day, however, he went back to offering B-class. The day after that, C-class.
I have also seen him give S-class, A-class, B-class, etc. on different days in the past, but never knew what it was tied to. For a long time, I thought it was due to where he was, but it turns out, it's due to "when!"
Risk-Free Way to find a Guaranteed S-Class Date for the Armorer
Here is the risk-free way that I advise everyone to start using to find and spread the word whenever we discover a next S-class day for the armorer.Simply visit the armorer at least once every day aboard your freighter whenever you warp into a system, and see if he's offering an S-class tool. If he is, please post about it on reddit either here or in nmscoordinateexchange. Since the date seems to be the same across all saves and players, that way everyone can know when it's happening and take advantage to get a free S-class multitool!
What NOT To Do
Please don't manipulate your console's date or timestamps within your save files unless you really know what you're doing.Warning: manually changing your system date to sometime in the future does not seem to work for checking whether those dates will have a guaranteed S-class dates. Even if someone can figure out how to make it work, setting your system date forward and running NMS will cause it to update many unrelated timestamps in your save file using that future date. This can totally mess up your farms, refiners, settlement income, and other time-based aspects of the game, ask me how I know! So I highly advise against using manual date-setting to future dates for any reason.
If, despite this, someone really wants to know the steps to verify that I'm not bullshitting you, then read on.
For Advanced Players: Steps to Verify the Guaranteed S-Class Date Without Modding Save Files
After a lot of experimentation on PC using the NMS Save Editor, I discovered that you can temporarily (for up to 24 hours) make the Armorer almost always give an S-class by tricking the game into thinking that it's sometime after 8PM on May 28, 2023, and before 8PM on the following day, and ensuring the recurrence deadline for the daily quests is on 8PM PDT May 29, 2023. (I'm sure there are other dates that work too, just don't know what they are.)A way to do this without hacking save files is as follows.
Disclaimer: do not open an existing save file while your console has the incorrect date. This can seriously screw up your save. Also, back up your No Man's Sky saves before trying this method, as I can't promise that it won't have an unintended consequence. To minimize the risk, only work with a fresh save if you're going to experiment with this. (Also, using an existing save you've opened recently won't work, because the game will only ever set the recurrence date can only be set to a time in the future once it has been exceeded.) The below steps are offered purely for experimental purposes by experienced and tech-savvy users who know how to make backups of saves and/or who are comfortable losing their save data if they screw up. Messing with dates can certainly impact save file syncing. You have been warned.
- Disable the internet on your computer or console and force-quit No Man's Sky if it's running.
- Set the date and time manually to 8:01 PM PDT (or equivalent in your timezone) on May 28, 2023. (The equivalent in GMT would be 3:01 AM on May 29, 2023.)
- Launch No Man's Sky and start a new save. (Creative Mode is fastest).
- Once you have a freighter with a Weapons Terminal in the base, recruit an Armorer to work there.
- Go through all the Armorer's quests until they start offering a free multitool.
- Warp to an inhabited star system that's not a pirate system.
- Talk to the armorer aboard your freighter. He will offer an S-class multitool. (In some rare cases, it will be A-class, but if you repeat step 6 many times, you will find that it's almost always an S-class.)
- a pirate system
- certain uninhabited systems that appear to have red conflict level in the galaxy map (probably, systems that would be pirate systems if they were inhabited)
Steps to Verify the Guaranteed S-Class Date By Modding Save Files (PC only)
Disclaimer: I do not endorse cheating or manipulation of save files. The below steps are offered purely for experimental purposes by experienced and tech-savvy users who know how to make backups of saves and/or who are comfortable losing their save data if they screw up. Messing with dates can certainly impact Steam save file syncing. Modding your multitool to be an S-class is much safer. You have been warned.Do steps 1. and 2. above, then do the below steps instead of the above steps:
- Back up all your saves.
- Using NMS Save Editor by goatfungus (available on Github), open the PC save file in NMS Save Editor. Be sure to use a save in which you have an armorer in your freighter base who is offering the free multitool.
- Export the save file to JSON.
- Open the exported save file using a text editor such as Microsoft VS Code.
- Search for the text, "DM_WEAPON" -- this takes you to the mission data for the "daily mission" (DM) for the free multitool ("weapon").
- Select the numbers after "Seed:". Press control-c to copy. This is your save's current "recurrence deadline" for the daily quests.
- Press control-H for search and replace.
- Click in the Find box, and press control-V to paste in the existing recurrence timestamp value.
- Click in the Replace box, and type in 1685415600 (8:00 PM, May 29, 2023, Memorial Day).
- Press alt-A to replace all occurrences of the prior recurrence time with 1685415600.
- Press control-S to save.
- Close out of your text editor and go back to the NMS Save Editor.
- Select "Import from JSON" and select the file you just modified in the text editor.
- Once it imports, then click "Save Changes" in NMS Save Editor.
- Each save slot in NMS has two saves associated with it, the Autosave and the Restore Point. Make sure you perform steps 15 and 16 on BOTH the Autosave and the Restore Point.
- Open No Man's Sky. Load the save you just modified.
- Warp to an inhabited star system that's not a pirate system.
- Talk to the armorer aboard your freighter. He will offer an S-class multitool. (In some rare cases, it will be A-class, but if you repeat step 6 many times, you will find that it's almost always an S-class.)
Note: I did test this method on two different play-throughs on different systems, under different gamertags, but it's possible that the dates that work for me won't work for you. I'm not sure if there could be other factors.
What are Multitool 'Pools'?
While streaming on Twitch in May 2017, I discovered that restarting ones game on a certain planet X, then traveling to a different planet Y or space station, would cause the multitools available on that planet Y or space station to change to the ones that were available on the planet X on which you restarted your game. As well, the multitools available when first warping in or restarting in space, would carry over to any planet in the same system.Having shared this on Twitch and on Discord, it wasn't long before this method spread and started being mentioned on Reddit. Later that year and in the following years, further refinements were made to this method. Eventually someone called these sets of multitool styles, "multitool pools", and the name stuck.
Note: while it's possible someone else independently discovered the same things I did, there's no evidence they did so before I streamed it and shared about it on Discord. So as far as I'm concerned, I'm the original discoverer of multitool pools.
How Multitool Class Relates to Multitool Pools
As others have found, a multitool has a "native" class of S, A, B, or C, and can only appear one class better or worse than its native class. For example, a tool that's natively B class can only appear as A, B, or C. A tool that's natively C class can only appear as B or C. A tool that's natively A class can only appear as S, A, or B.Based on this you can use the Armorer to more quickly figure out what styles of tool are in a given pool. Using a base terminus at a temporary planetary base next to a wall box that gives one of the styles of tool in the current pool, warp to your freighter base and use the Armorer to check another. Since warping to the freighter from a planetary base takes just 5 seconds, this is much faster than traveling between different minor settlements. From the freighter you can also hit the space station in 5 seconds via terminus. Since traveling via terminus in the same system doesn't reset the current pool, this greatly speeds surveying.

Squad has one of the best soundscapes of any game. The beautiful thing about the sound in this game is that each weapon, explosion, and action has a unique sound, which can often change based on distance or the environment. Players can gain extraordinary game sense and awareness by memorizing the sounds and their variations to determine the identity, direction, weapon, and distance of players and vehicles.
Every experienced player that plays this game depends and relies on the sound to work correctly and consistently. Yet there's many times where the sound design is inconsistent and/or buggy, which is incredibly frustrating.
Here is a list of some of the bugs/inconsistencies that personally frustrate me on a common basis:
Vehicles: 1. Completely silent vehicles 2. Sometimes, you can hear the gravel noise from the wheels of vehicles hundreds of meters away 3. The Marine/Australian LAVs are incredibly quiet, to the point you can barely hear them until they are 50 meters away, while most other wheeled and tracked vehicles can be loudly heard from hundreds of meters away (maybe this is realistic? I don't know) 4. The BRDM-2 engine, while idling, will make a 'rev'ing and popping noise that can be clearly heard up to 450 meters away, way beyond the range the engine can normally be heard
Infantry: 1. Sometimes, footstep sounds are completely non-existent and silent 2. Digging will frequently be completely silent, this is especially frustrating when defending an enemy radio on bleedout while radio hunting. I have had enemies completely dig their radios back up right next to me because it made no noise, canceling the bleedout timer 3. Sometimes, explosions will make no noise when behind a wall or out of line of sight. This is especially frustrating when using C4 on a radio or a grenade in a house and you can't hear it go off 4. Taking out your knife is incredibly loud for anyone nearby, people whip around and shoot you before the animation is even done (this one is likely purpose but come on, knife kills are already hard enough) 5. The audio bug when tap firing a gun in burst/auto that makes it sound like you are bursting, mentally messes up your aim and gives away your position instantly. This one has been in the game forever. 6. Random gunfire and muzzle flashes when nobody is nearby, this one has also been in the game forever
Most experienced players have learned these bugs and inconsistencies and try to account for them, but that just adds an unnecessary increase in the skill ceiling for less experienced players who don't know. Not being able to trust what you hear is frustrating and degrades the experience of this game sometimes.

Infantry: 1. Sometimes, footstep sounds are completely non-existent and silent 2. Digging will frequently be completely silent, this is especially frustrating when defending an enemy radio on bleedout while radio hunting. I have had enemies completely dig their radios back up right next to me because it made no noise, canceling the bleedout timer 3. Sometimes, explosions will make no noise when behind a wall or out of line of sight. This is especially frustrating when using C4 on a radio or a grenade in a house and you can't hear it go off 4. Taking out your knife is incredibly loud for anyone nearby, people whip around and shoot you before the animation is even done (this one is likely purpose but come on, knife kills are already hard enough) 5. The audio bug when tap firing a gun in burst/auto that makes it sound like you are bursting, mentally messes up your aim and gives away your position instantly. This one has been in the game forever. 6. Random gunfire and muzzle flashes when nobody is nearby, this one has also been in the game forever
Most experienced players have learned these bugs and inconsistencies and try to account for them, but that just adds an unnecessary increase in the skill ceiling for less experienced players who don't know. Not being able to trust what you hear is frustrating and degrades the experience of this game sometimes.

Okay guys so reading a lot on twitter - everyone is debating about whether with the new changes we are less likely to work hard in medical school, interested to hear your opinion. My take on the advantages / disadvantages of no SJT / EPM.
Advantages
- Less hostile environment in medical school with less competition
- SJT poor evidence base / a bit of a random number generator - EPM only half of the marks? Poor system to begin with.
- Less focus on exams more time to develop other key skills of becoming a doctor (clinical skills / communication skills / exposure in placement)
- More time to focus on other aspects of your future career; time for research / audits, societies etc
Disadvantages
- Less perceived or actual control on allocation (random process it seems)
- Less focus on academics in general, medicine is an academic subject and whilst there isn't a distinct correlation between top grades = top doctor, incentive to work hard surely isn't a bad thing?
