I have been admittet to Leiden University for a bachelors degree in Archaeology. The program is great, I love the focus on world archaeology rather than just one region and I was looking forward to go there.
But the housing situation has gotten to me. It is not only a nightmare, it is downright impossible to find housing on my own. I have replied to 100+ listings on sites like Kamernet, and have gotten three responses, all of which where negative. I did apply for student housing in mid October, we will see if it was early enough soon. But even then, you can only live there for a year, have to share a kitchen and bathroom with 20+ people etc. If you have ever lived with people, you know that it only takes one person who has no home training to make the common rooms miserable for everyone. I am not sure if all of that is worth it in the end.
In my home country, my degree would cost me less than 100 Euros, I could afford my own little apartment and social life would probably be easier too. I can get a parttime job way easier than in the Netherlands and it seems like the easier and better option overall by now. I am just afraid of giving up this incredible chance of studying at such a prestigous university in the field of archaeology....What would you do?

Everyone talks about the casino ads, but I keep getting weirdly inappropriate ads based on episode content when I listen on Google podcasts.

Hi fellow ents, I need a huge favor. I lost my job a few months bck and during my first month my friends introduced me to an online credit card which I used responsibly until I was let go due to budget cuts. The credit card had EMIs for the amount I borrow and I paid them back through my savings and other earnings. This month my dad had to go through a surgery to remove a lump from his chest (non cancerous thankfully) due to which me and my family had to use our savings for the procedure and now I've no way to pay back the EMI. I couldn't go to my parents because I don't wanna become an extra financial burden since we don't come from a well to do family and can't afford a loss of 8k out of nowhere and my friends are worse off than me. I've got a job lined up from August so I'll be able to pay back when I get my salary but for three months I've got no earnings and a loan on my head. Please if someone can help me out, I started the delhi pizza party as a way to afford these bills but after two weeks that also died down. Help me please.

So I started a new job yesterday. All was well and then I got an email from our regional manager. This is the guy who hired me/I interviewed with. It was an email sent to a few people thanking us for signing up to man a booth at a convention this Friday.
I was listed to have a three hour shift in the morning. The only issue is.. I never signed up. And I was supposed to have Friday off (our center is closed that day).
The regional manager is coming by today. I planned on saying something like “oh I got this email about the convention, I don’t remember signing up for that did I miss something?” But idk. How do I approach this and what should I do?
It’s a 3 hour shift at a booth on Friday. We are open Saturday for 3 hours as well. I’m thinking of just asking off on Saturday if I do the booth since I have a wedding that evening anyway.

I’m currently serving my notice in my job of six years. My previous employment before this were temporary roles so this is the first time I’ve ever had to hand my notice in.
To cut a long story short, it’s a mixture of a few things in the job that have started to affect my mental health, and I’ve just decided to leave on neutral terms.
Handed my notice into my manager two weeks ago, where we had a good chat about things, he agreed with most of my points raised and mutually agreed it probably is for the best.
Since then, he’s been slowly removing responsibilities off me (understandable) but aside from that, he’s stopped copying me in emails, has removed me from essential group chats, and has near enough started ghosting me in person. He only speaks to me when he has to.
Though the manager who has surprised me the most is the site manager. I’ve always had a good relationship with him and was half expecting him to pull me in and ask what’s wrong and why I’ve decided to leave. Instead he really is ghosting me. Walked past him a few times today and he’s avoided eye contact with me, hasn’t even said good morning or anything.
Thought I was imagining it but there’s two senior managers behaving like this and my own line manager.
Bit childish to be honest but I’m wondering if this is normal?

Background info: I have a bit more (3 months) than 2 YOE full time dev experience. I also worked 6 months full time and 1 years part time as a test automation developer during college + 2 internships and this is in Montreal, Canada.
So 6 weeks ago I've been layed off like many of us. I've interviewed quite a bit and I just received a formal offer for the company I liked the most out of all that I'm interviewing for.
When I started the process, I had asked for about 93k, as I was making ~92k at my last job, which from what I understand, is in the higher end for someone with my level of experience, and I wanted to make similar amount of money. The offer I just received is for 87k.
When they gave me the offer, they said that while I had asked for 93, they have internal salary policies and range that they have to respect, and that 87k is above the average for people who graduated in 2020/2021.
I wanted to ask them if they were willing to do 90. I'm planning to stay at this role for about 3 years, (my goal with this job is to become experienced enough that I could start looking at senior level positions for my next role), and considering they do 5-11% raises based on performance, the difference between 87k and 90k do start to show after 3 years of raises. I would also like to stay as close as possible to my old salary.
I asked for a week to think about it/finish up with my other processes, but I like the stack that this place is working on better, I like their workflow better and I had a pretty good time talking to their team.
The HR person who gave me the offer told me to call them anytime this week if I had a question or wanted to talk about the offer.
I was planning to just call them and say something like "hey, I really like the offer and I'm excited at the prospect of joining the team. About the base salary, while I understand that there are internal policies in place and 93k might not be doable, I wanted to know if it would be possible to move the base comp from 87 to 90. I know that with the turbulence in the tech world, there was a risk of taking a bit of a pay cut for my next role, but I would like to stay as close as possible to my old salary. Also, while the offer is very fair for a 20/21 Grad, I think that my experience in test automation (using the same language as this company, and I did a bit of front end work at that role) is a rather unique asset that I have over other 20/21 grads. If there is no flexibility in the current offer, I understand and it's not really an issue, but I just wanted to know if that jump was possible. Thanks!"

I (24f) and the oldest of 3 sisters (23f) and (17f). My middle sister has extreme disabilities that required pretty much all of my parents' attention as a kid. Time, money, and any extra resources were all given to my middle sister so that she could have doctor's, tutors, a special school, etc. From the age of 5 I was pretty much left to raise myself, and when my youngest sister was born, I pretty much raised her too.
I struggled a lot in highschool as I also have a mild version of my sister's disability (but it was ignored since hers was much more severe). My parents did not help me at all, they ignored my concerns about my grades, rejected my request for a tutor, and did not seem to care at all that I was pretty much failing. I did not even have time to study on my own as much of my life at home revolved around taking care of my sisters.
I managed to graduate and immediately took a retail job that I am still at today. My youngest sister graduates this weekend and my parents asked me to attend. The thought literally makes me want to throw up. By the time my youngest sister hit highschool, my middle sister no longer lived at home, and she was on state benefits. That meant my parents suddenly had all the time and money in the world which they used to get my youngest sister in an amazing, private highschool. They gave her tons of support and she is graduating with honors and has an offer to attend an ivy league college.
It may be childish, but I do not feel like it is fair at all. I don't hold a grudge against my sister, and I have sent her a graduation card, but the thought of sitting through a whole ceremony and hearing my parents talk about all of her accomplishments is too much.
They are extremely upset about the fact that I said I won't go. I haven't talked to my sister yet, but I assume she will be upset as well.

i have a friend who self harms, and he knows i do as well. the thing is, when he gets worse with his sh, he makes a shit ton of jokes about it, which in turn makes me relapse or like also get worse.
i know i should be able to control my triggers, but today i was hugging him from behind because my group is quite tactile with each other, and my arms were near his and he made the motion of slitting his wrists and i just idk. its not up to him to stop but like my sh is so much worse at school than at home and i think this may be a reason why.

we got together right after he got out of a toxic relationship. i saved him from his despair and he was the missing part of me that i didn’t know i needed. i was totally fine being single at the time. i was confident in myself, i loved myself, i loved myself, i was so incredibly happy. i was grateful to be loved by him and i know he loved me as well.
however, because we got together so quickly after, he never had the chance to be independent. he always had me to lean back on and he became too comfortable. the toxic traits that came from his past came through our relationship and it changed me.
there was a time when he was driving me home that he became so upset at himself that he started to cry. he told me that he wanted to become a better person for me and for himself so he started doing therapy sessions every week. it worked wonders on him! he was doing amazingly better. he was happier, less angry, held himself accountable for his mistakes and tried to be improve. however, it didn’t last. his mom got a new job and the new insurance didn’t cover the therapy sessions so it stopped. he became his old self again and we were both suffering. I knew I couldn’t be in this relationship because he didn’t want help from anybody and only himself. it hurts knowing that he has the potential to be an amazing person, but he didn’t take the effort to continue trying. it was overwhelming for him and it was difficult juggling a committed relationship.
im glad that we’re restarting our lives. he can finally heal and process all the things that happened to him on his own terms. im learning to be myself again. that happy girl that always smiles. I hope everyone going through it right now understands that the version of you in the relationship is gone and you have the power to make yourself feel loved again. please learn to love yourself and know that you’ll be okay someday!

I started wegovy literally the day after the shortage was announced and didn’t realize the problem I’d be running into… tried to get .5 as soon as I found out, but no success with 3 weeks of trying.
My doctor gave me an ozempic pen with 4 doses of .5 in it hoping it would hold me over until my .5 Rx came in, but after my order got cancelled for a second time from a second pharmacy I had to think of something else. Here’s what I came up with that my dr agreed to:
I’ll do two weeks of .5 doses of ozempic, and then on the third week I’ll do two doses in a row for a total of 1. The following week I’m jumping right to 1.7 wegovy and my mail-in filled 90 days so I’ll stay there for a while.
I already took the first week of .5 when I made this plan and had no noticeable side effects. Side effects on .25 were mild and petered out after 2 weeks. Still, I’ve been paying enough attention to others posts to know that doesn’t mean this will be smooth sailing for me. I’m really, really nervous.
I have a full-time job and a toddler at home and I can’t be totally non-functional for an extended period. I’d love to hear from anyone with a similar experience and if there’s anything I can do to prepare to mitigate side effects I’d love advice.

I posted some months ago about my new job as an English teacher and the possibility of using CBD to control my mood swings. Well, because of the medication i couldn't focuse and was fired within a week. Since then I had a relapse and went to the hospital and then my parents kept me in their house to try and help me out both mentally and physically as i gained 20 pounds in two months due to nervous binge eating. My mum thought that I was addicted to the medication and cut it to the antidepressant and a pill for anxiety and everything seemed to go well but lately I started having Shakes in my hands and legs, had two weeks of feeling this deep void within me and then because of a hard discussion with my partner due to my constant paranoia i got drunk and unstable. Since then my mood swings are back, one day I'm alright, the other i want to k**l myself and I'm sick of it. The nurse from the psychiatrist ward told me she didn't know what to tell me and i don't have an appointment with the psychiatrist until the 30th of this month. Therapy group is also not working. Any advise is very welcome please

This is the build I have put together, and am wondering if this will be able to run League, Val, Apex, Destiny2, and Maplestory 1080p 144hz while also streaming (on discord) with no problems, frame or lag. I am also wondering about the longevity of these parts, as in, if theyre a generation, 1 or 2 years old, how long can i expect these to last under moderately good care, while also running at near or max capacity. I do have a microcenter near me so what all I can buy there, I would rather buy from there and am open to switching parts if there are equivalents that will provide the same specs and reliability at same or lower price. If you have any advice as someone who is leaning towards slightly more cpu oriented activities, please don't hesitate to write as I am very new to the realm of pc building and would like as much help as you experts are willing to give. So I’ve seen a few posts about this from some Google searches I’ve done but I want to tailor my question a little more specifically to get a more accurate response-is it possible?
I know about the 90 abstinence policy for medication. I haven’t taken Adderal in almost a year. Prior to that, it had been two years. Prior to that, 11 years (early childhood to freshmen year of high school. Im 31 now).
I can 100% survive without it but it did help me with certain aspects of my job at the time.
Im assuming when I go for my medical, I disclose that I’ve had and have been medicated for it in the past correct? Then I proceed to take the litany of neurological tests afterwards to determine weather I’m fit to be an airmen.
Are these tests trying to show that the diagnosis was erroneous or are they simply showing my previous diagnosis no longer effects me?
I’ve also seen some grumbling about some re-working of the FAA policies on this (I won’t hold my breath) whilst others have said to simply omit the diagnosis from the AME. Does the FAA essentially do a background check on me compiling all of the pertinent medical data on their own?
