Personal Experiences? Los Angeles County Jail

2023.06.06 11:22 dankestmemess Personal Experiences? Los Angeles County Jail

Hi everyone. I’m on here asking advice for someone close to me. They got their first dui back in September 2022 and long story short they got sentenced to one year county jail in Los Angeles, CA on May 26 (yes pretty recent). I recently checked the inmate locator and it says their “actual release date” is set for Nov 2023 (6 months). I’ve looked up stuff on good behavior and I saw some CA laws that say for every 4 days served = 2 days off from their sentence. However, on the LAC Jail website it says every 2 days = 2 days credit. Does anyone know which one it is? Also has anyone here gotten a 1 year LA county jail sentence reduced to half and got out even earlier than that? Any advice or knowledge would help! Thanks.
Edit: Not sure if it’s necessary but they are at North County Correctional right now. They got transferred there from MCJ.

2023.06.06 06:46 Juftin 11 New Park Systems Added to my Campsite Finder with an AbstractBaseClass!

I've got an open-source project called camply. Here's the spiel:
camply, the campsite finder ⛺️, is a tool to help you book a campsite online. Finding reservations at sold out campgrounds can be tough. That's where camply comes in. It searches thousands of campgrounds across the USA world via the APIs of booking services like https://recreation.gov. It continuously checks for cancellations and availabilities to pop up - once a campsite becomes available, camply sends you a notification to book your spot!
For a little while now, camply has supported ReserveCalifornia as a "provider" - it searches California's State Park system. Recently I realized that the same API that powers ReserveCalifornia also powers a ton of other state park systems and even national parks in Australia. And so, with a little refactoring I came up with an AbstractBaseClass for the following park systems:
Neat, and the Python code for each implementation looks like this:
class FloridaStateParks(UseDirectProvider): """ Florida State Parks """ base_url = "https://floridardr.usedirect.com" campground_url = "https://www.reserve.floridastateparks.org" rdr_path = "FloridaRDR" booking_path = "Web" state_code = "FL"
Maybe you'll find camply useful, maybe you'll think of a way to make your project more scalable to different use-cases with an AbstractBaseClass 💪

2023.06.06 05:22 ukranianvodkafactory Looking Up An Old Speeding Ticket?

I got a speeding ticket in Kansas about two years ago. I paid the fine and got rid of the paper copy of the ticket. I am trying to look-up information related to the ticket now, but I can't remember a lot of info about the ticket itself.
I don't remember the name of the county where the ticket was issued so I don't know what number to contact to request more info. The only place I am able to find info about its existence is when I lookup car insurance rates and it appears as a violation in my driving history.
Is there a national database (or specifically in this case, a Kansas state wide database) where I can lookup the ticket using my personal information?

2023.06.05 21:16 Single-Sorbet3358 Is it illegal to sneak my girlfriend out of her house?

So I'm 18 and male, my girlfriend is 17. We live in Arizona, I live in Maricopa county and she lives in pinal county, we have been together for over a year and we have had a pretty rocky relationship, things finally started getting better but her dad is no longer supportive of us being together. After he voiced his disapproval, I snuck her out of her house one night and he caught us the next morning because her window screen didn't stay back on. He called me and said I'm not allowed to contact or see his daughter anymore or he will call the police. Were still talking and we want to try sneaking out again, but obviously if he catches us he already said what he will do. Can he actually get me into trouble here? If he can, what can he get me charged with? I'm mostly just worried because I just turned 18 4 days ago, and she's still gonna be 17 for a few months.

2023.06.05 16:33 Superb_Divide_1877 Found an interesting article about prison items in Cleveland

The Food and commissary items are being more expensive even though half of the things on this list should be free
157,000 packages of hot and spicy or chicken ramen noodles
136,000 containers of Jalapeno Squeeze Cheese
100,000 bags of Nacho Cheese or Cool Ranch Doritos
74,000 containers of ranch dressing
72,000 “fish steaks”
55,000 bags of Flamin’ Hot Cheetos
50,000 “mackerel fillets”
44,000 packages of tuna
41,000 packages of turkey summer sausage
38,000 cinnamon rolls
The number resembles how many items was sold in the prison commissary. How ever people bought more items such as non-edible items which includes a toothbrush, toothpaste, soap, shampoo, lotion, deodorant, 4 stamped envelopes, a pen and four sheets of paper. An inmate is determined to be indigent if they have less than $1.00 for seven days, with no deposits
https://www.cleveland.com/news/2023/06/top-10-things-inmates-eat-from-the-cuyahoga-county-jail-commissary.html?outputType=amp
During the first three months of 2023, under the old pricing, the commissary did $502,000 in sales, or about $167,000 per month, records provided by the county show. In April, the first full month of the new pricing, the commissary did $115,000 in sales.
The drop likely reflects some inmates being priced out of buying commissary.
A Hershey bar, for example, cost inmates $1.05 in 2022, but today sells for $1.80 – a 71% increase.
Diced chicken breast increased by $3.75, or 136%, over 2022 prices.
Ranch dressing went up 27 cents. Ramen noodles went up 30 cents. Tuna went up by $1.41.
Due to this, poorer or indigent inmates who now can’t afford to supplement their nutrition through the commissary and are seeking it elsewhere.
This question made me wonder how inmates gain weight from prison to how expensive the prison is getting🤨

2023.06.05 08:03 EducationalWay405 Friend was arrested hours and hours ago in Daytona Beach and still not booked. What’s the process?

Hey all! I don’t live in Daytona, or the state of Florida for that matter. I was on the phone with a friend this past evening (Sunday), and the Daytona Beach PD/State Police/ or (I have no idea which) department showed up and my friend was arrested when she answered the door. She didn’t do anything wrong. It’s a long TLDR if I went into it. Not drugs, non violent, and deals with crazy (more then likely literally crazy) tenants.
This was around 9pm EST.
I hopped onto the Volusia County inmate info page and she still hasn’t been booked. It’s 2 am EST. What gives?
I see a few other folks have been booked this evening and they don’t seem that busy in booking tonight. The scanner is crazy, (y’all are wild!), but not many arrests. So wondering if she wasn’t arrested by Daytona PD or Volusia County if there is a different agency she could have been arrested by - and if so, where else I should look for her booking? Any ideas? Trying to get her bonded out if they allow it. I have called the jail and they say they do not have an inmate by this name but confirmed with a family member she was taken away as under arrest in handcuffs in back of police vehicle. Thanks for your help!
TLDR - Friend arrested in Daytona Beach at 9pm and no booking still at Volusia County Jail at 2am. Looking for other locations or time frame.

by: Marcus Hunter Posted: Jun 4, 2023 / 12:21 PM CDT
Court documents say Saturday officers were called to a Motel on South Third Street. When they arrived, they found a woman who told them that she and her infant daughter were at another hotel when the four suspects allegedly forced their way into her room.
The suspects were later identified as Quintarius White, Kierra Clark, Monisha Nelson, and Treasure Akins.
She told police Clark, Nelson, and Akins attacked her while White stood by. According to police, the mother and child were then taken to another hotel, and the mother was forced into prostitution.
The victim told police after arriving at the other motel, she was forced to have sex for money that was given to White. After it was over, she was able to contact a friend who called the police.

2023.06.04 16:19 Shzdowing Spirits In A Correctional Facility

(Brief Backstory) I'm a young guy in his early 20s who lives in Miami, FL. Back in Decemeber of 2021 I had got arrested for some pretty big charges (PBL / Punishable By Life.) I got offered Bootcamp followed by some supervision after upon being released so I gladly took the offer to go home.
When arriving to the Bootcamp Program it is right next to the processing/booking jail when someone is first arrested in Miami Dade County. Inside the fences of the jail are not only the Bootcamp Program but an abandoned jail next to the running booking one used still for purposely storing the food inmates eat for chow time. About 4 months into the program (Program is only 6 months) I became a trustee Cadet meaning I did alot of things normal Cadets/Inmates cannot do such as go around the facility doing work (Obviously being supervised) & other things I was told to do such as mop the floor, clean up the bathrooms, etc.. One night my friend & I could not sleep & stayed up talking very quietly (If you got caught awake or talking you would get smoked meaning doing intense exercises nonstop as punishment from any Drill Instructor.) The Drill Instructor we had that night was a pretty cool guy & was more laid back than the rest. He had noticed us awake & told us to come along & help him bring chow from breakfast from the freezer room in the abandoned jail. My friend & I went along with no problem & we were pushing some big carts to hold alot of food trays. I'm not that tall of a guy & neither is my friend but he had more muscle than me & was a little ahead of me while pushing the carts to the jail to get the food. We eventually got all the food & came back to our bed & my friend had seemed off. I asked what was wrong & he said while he was ahead of me pushing the cart he saw a man sitting near the abandoned jail & he said he couldn't tell what he was wearing or looked like but could make out it was a man by his silhouette. My friend said once he was almost to the door of where the man was sitting to enter the jail he said the man dematerialized & turned into a black cat & ran away. I don't believe he was lying to me because he had seem a little shook. Couple weeks later we were sent upstairs to spend our last 2 months (Phase 2) of the program where we get sent out to look for a job & we were given more permission to do more activities & have more free time. Surprisingly I got put with my friend from the incident in the same room. Turning off the lights upstairs once it's time to go to our rooms/bed, I noticed it was way darker & quieter than it is downstairs. Those last 2 months my friend & I heard & saw a lot of weird things such as shadows passing in rooms that had nobody in them, footsteps in the night when nobody had got up to drink water or use the restroom & just an uneasy feeling like someone or something is watching us. It's been almost 6 months since I been released & I barely talk to my friend from the program anymore but I still wonder. What was it he saw when we went to get the food? Was it the same entity we felt upstairs? & I wonder was it a spirit of someone or possibly an evil being/demon? I still wonder.

2023.06.04 07:33 Gore_Kitty How's my lore look for my grimdark world?

Addon from an earlier post, built the world up a bit and wanted other's thoughts and opinions. Enjoy, all criticism is good criticism!
Premise: During World War II (1939-1994), scientists employed by the British and US governments conducted human experiments on inmates from insane asylums and state prisons. These experiments, known as Project Golem and Project Olympian, were driven by the prolonged duration of the war and the Allies' desire for an advantage against the Axis Powers.
Project Golem primarily focused on creating the perfect soldier through methods such as torture and mental/physical conditioning. The goal was to develop a soldier who would be obedient to any order and impervious to pain. Unfortunately, these experiments ended tragically, resulting in the death of all inmates or their transformation into mindless, incapacitated beings.
Project Olympian, on the other hand, aimed to surpass the German efforts of creating a man-made god. Upon learning of the German plans through spies and captured Axis officials, the Allies initiated Project Olympian to ensure they weren't outdone. The experiments conducted under this project were exceptionally brutal, causing some scientists to take their own lives. The objective was to achieve apotheosis and create a transcendent human being unrestricted by the laws of physics.
After 37 years of Project Olympian experiments, inmates from Belle County Prison in Tawk, West Virginia, Addams-Jules Asylum in Eldsbridge, England, and Merrydow Insane Asylum in Merrydow, Montana, began exhibiting supernatural abilities. Due to their tortured existence and mental instability, these inmates escaped their captivity and embarked on murderous rampages, distorting reality wherever they went.
Eventually, Allied soldiers managed to direct some of the escaped inmates from Addams-Jules toward Germany, resulting in chaos that led to Italy's surrender and the end of World War II.
With the war finally over, the Allies were now faced with the challenge of dealing with the "Exo-Psychonics," as the scientists had named them. These individuals, unwilling to die and equipped with extraordinary powers, ensured their survival and posed a new threat. Main Cast
The Kalsko Team has been created by the Kalsko Execution Company, a company that specializes in taking down Exo-Psychonics. The team is composed of skilled individuals who come together to investigate the Merrydow Asylum Incident. They each bring unique abilities and experiences to tackle the challenges they face.
The Kalsko Team:
Together, the Kalsko Team combines their skills, determination, and unique perspectives to confront the nightmarish challenges posed by the Merrydow Asylum and the supernatural forces at play.
