2023.06.06 22:32 ABCBA_4321 Starting to feel like I'll never find a job in my field in Missouri
I'm a autistic male in my mid-20s and have been living in Missouri for almost 10 years. My family moved here from Nebraska 10 years almost when I was almost 16. It's a beautiful state and I really apricate the low cost of living, but I've been haven't been able to find a job in my field of study since graduating from college 4 years ago.
I've graduated from a community college with a 1 year diploma in Welding Technology back in August 2019. The problem is though, there aren't many welding jobs where I'm at in Missouri. For those wondering, I'm in Kirksville and while it's growing well economically, the majority of welders who live here either travel, relocate, weld for their farms, or commute an hour or more for a job. Some of the nearby companies that do hire welders are about an hour's drive from here. When I was looking for jobs related to both my field and skillset, I was trying to land one that will at least pay $15/hr. or higher with good hours and benefits. I did apply for jobs for the companies that within an hour from here, but most of them only pay around $10-$13 an hour and that's now where enough for me to do an hour's commute for a job based on my rent.
I thought about relocating to start off my welding career, but my case worker advised because I would need these 3 things in order to move away somewhere else:
- A strong support system through family or close family friends who can help me with self-direction and self-determination for oversite for safety, problem solving and decision making.
- Would need to be more willing to work with agency supports so that my home would meet community standards regarding cleanliness.
- Gain insight to my disability and how it affects my life in order to know when I may need help with and to accept it.
I don't have any of these 3 things, so moving just isn't an option for me right now.
I've been working as a custodian in my local for a year now, but it's not a job I plan to do long term. I started off at my current job with a wage of $13.85 an hour and I'm currently making $14 an hour now, but I'm still disappointed that I haven't been able to find a job with the pay I was hoping for. I want to be able to start a career in the trade I've learned in trade school sometime soon or maybe at least in some other skilled trade I can do but now I'm worried that it could not happen.
I really like working with my hands and I don't wanna be forced into going back to school for an office job. That's just not me. I'm beginning to think however that if you live in a small town or rural area in Missouri with not many opportunities and if moving's not an option for you, you would have to at least work one job for the rest of your life or go back to school for something else that's in more demand if your area even if it's not something you may be cut out to do. That's just what I'm worried about right now.

2023.06.06 22:31 larrydavidenjoyer Appreciation post
Starting to post a bit more regularly here, hope my presence isn’t too irritating!! I wanted to make a general comment thanking those posters who provide hope and great advice for people here. Last month I experienced a GIANT flare up and some of the posters here really helped me to push through despite everything.
I see certain people comment on almost every post and I have to say they are doing God’s works. The mods genuinely are so helpful. I’m not sure how my pain will go from now as it tends to improve and then get worse at periods but i’m accepting of this and have adapted my lifestyle accordingly. So i just wanted to say thank you. Thank you that this forum exist and thank you for those who have provided me some light in this horrifically dark bloody journey!!

2023.06.06 22:31 randomgameaccount Diablo IV objectives are "all or nothing" and can be fixed easily.
Let me preface this: I'm having a blast. I love the game. I took my time on WT2 as druid, read and watched everything, almost done with maxing renown, and I'm level 70. I had a lot of playtime because I took off work, and I have a lot of experience in ARPGs, so I moved petty efficiently, but I did not skip around and rush through things.
All that said, as much fun as I'm having, there's certain friction points in the game that really frustrate me. It's mostly frustrating because they already solved these problems in WoW and D3 literally over a decade ago, but now we have the same issues again.
Fighting waves of mobs? Kill every single one, or no progress.
Collecting X in a dungeon to place on/in Y object? There's exactly X of them, no more, no less, find all of them and run around til you do. Object bugs out? Oh well, start over completely.
Kill all mobs? Yes, even the tiny fallen that get resurrected. Something stuck in a wall? Oh well, start over completely.
Looking for items or events? Just run around randomly til you get close enough to see it. Oh, you missed that tiny cubby or path? Better waddle all the way back.
Previously Blizzard titles have already solved these things in some or all of the following ways: 1. Kill most of the mobs, not all - Small mobs do not count towards credit, or you only kill 90% of the mobs, or they just give you a bar to fill. 2. When collecting objects, there should always be extras so that the player does not spend large amounts of time backtracking and being forced to explore a randomized map layout over an over. 3. When looking for items or events, objective markers should always show, even if the map isn't explored. Minimal arrows that point the way by default would also be great.
All easy fixes, all have existed in other Blizzard games, and would make the content more fun to do. I'm having a blast, but this seemingly intentional friction really breaks the flow of the game for me. Saturday night I had two dungeons brick in a row, one object in the wall, and then a mob stuck in a wall, and after wasting two sigils and 20 minutes for no progress I had to take a break. Went for a walk and then played some Zelda.
Got back on Sunday and played all day focusing on sidequests and some pvp and had a blast. Yesterday I decided to start back on dungeons again and immediately got frustrated with how many small annoyances there are when just trying to do the content.
I really hope Blizzard fixes these easy things quickly, because they're honestly just slam dunks with no downsides.

2023.06.06 22:31 WillYouBatheMe [B][USA-GA] Scammer Report: u/Ok-Nefariousness5612
I wanted to report
u/Ok-Nefariousness5612 so no one else has to deal with their scamming. They reached out to sell an x100v. After asking a series of questions including asking for a timestamp they seemed legit. After submitting payment Saturday evening they said they didn't make it to the post office in time so they dropped the package off with their security guard friend who was going to drop the package off Sunday and then they would provide a tracking number.
At that point I knew not only was this a scammer but also a fool that doesn't have a basic understanding of how a post office works.
I've created a link where you can see some of this:
https://imgur.com/a/6RMjjVq I didn't see an option on the Universal Scammer List to report someone so I'm doing so here. The #scammer has not responded to any of my recent messages, nor has given me the supposed tracking number. I've reported them to PayPal and waiting to receive a refund but the scammer has not responded to that request either.

2023.06.06 22:31 ptorres324 The Story of Finn Balor and how he became The Demon King
| Finn Balor was a normal human being, until one day he discovered a strange tattoo on his chest. It was a red symbol that looked like a pair of wings and a tail. He had no idea where it came from or what it meant, but he felt a strange connection to it. He soon realized that the tattoo was not just a decoration, but a mark of a powerful entity that lived inside him. The entity called itself the Demon, and it claimed to be an ancient spirit of chaos and destruction. It said that it had chosen Finn as its host, and that it could grant him incredible strength and speed, but at a price. The Demon wanted to take over Finn's body and mind, and use him as a vessel to unleash its wrath on the world. It said that Finn had to surrender to it willingly, or it would force its way out. The Demon also warned Finn that if he resisted, he would suffer unbearable pain and madness. Finn was terrified by the Demon's words, but he also felt a curiosity and a temptation. He wondered what it would be like to have such power, and what he could do with it. He also wondered if he could control the Demon, or at least coexist with it peacefully. He decided to test the Demon's abilities, and see for himself what it could do. He went to a local wrestling gym, where he met some of his friends who were also wrestlers. He challenged them to a friendly match, and activated the Demon's power. As soon as he did, he felt a surge of energy coursing through his veins. His muscles bulged and his body became more ripped, his eyes glowed red, and his tattoo spread all over his body. He looked like a demonic version of himself, with horns, fangs, claws, and scales. His clothes transformed into red and black leather trunks with black boots and knee pads. He appeared as a wild demonic warrior! He also felt a change in his personality. He became more aggressive, confident, and ruthless. He didn't care about the rules or the safety of his opponents. He wanted to dominate them, hurt them, and make them fear him. He easily defeated his friends, who were shocked and scared by his transformation. They tried to reason with him, but he ignored them. He only listened to the Demon's voice in his head, which urged him to continue his rampage. He left the gym, and headed to the streets. He saw people running away from him in panic, but he didn't care. He felt invincible and unstoppable. He felt like he was the king of the world. He was wrong. He soon encountered a group of criminals, who were robbing a bank. They had guns and explosives, and they were threatening to kill the hostages if anyone tried to stop them. They saw Finn approaching them, and they laughed at his appearance. "Look at this freak! What are you supposed to be? A Halloween costume?" They fired at him, but the bullets bounced off his skin. He laughed at their futile attempts, and charged at them. He grabbed one of them by the neck, and lifted him off the ground. He looked into his eyes, and saw fear and pain. He smiled wickedly, and squeezed harder. He was about to snap his neck, when he heard a scream. "Please! Don't hurt him! He's my brother!" It was one of the hostages, who had recognized the criminal as her sibling. She had been forced to join him in the robbery by their abusive father, who had threatened to kill them if they didn't obey him. She ran towards Finn, and pleaded with him to spare her brother's life. Finn felt her touch, and heard her voice. He felt a wave of emotion wash over him. He remembered who he was, and what he had done. He realized that he had gone too far. He dropped the criminal, who gasped for air. He turned around, and looked at the hostage's face. He saw fear and gratitude in her eyes. He also saw blood on her shirt. He looked down, and saw that she had been shot in the chest by one of the other criminals when she ran towards him. She was bleeding profusely. He gasped in horror. "What have I done?" He let go of her, and ran to her side. He tried to stop the bleeding with his hands. "I'm sorry... I'm so sorry..." He felt the Demon's power fading away from him. His body returned to normal. His tattoo disappeared. He also felt the Demon's anger and disappointment in him. "You fool... You weakling... You traitor..." The Demon's voice echoed in his mind. "You had everything... You had me... And you threw it all away... For her..." The Demon spat out one last word before leaving him alone. "Coward..." Finn sobbed uncontrollably. He had lost everything. He had lost himself. But he also gained something. He gained a new purpose. He realized that he had been given a gift, not a curse. He realized that he could use the Demon's power for good, not evil. He realized that he could be a hero, not a villain. He decided to make a vow. He vowed to never let the Demon take over him again. He vowed to only use the Demon's power when he needed to protect the innocent and fight the wicked. He vowed to be the master of the Demon, not its slave. He vowed to be the Demon King. DEMON KING II Finn Balor had become the Demon King, a superhero who used the power of the Demon to fight crime and injustice. He had learned to control the Demon's influence, and only unleashed it when he needed to. He had also made a secret identity for himself, as a journalist who worked for a local newspaper. He had also found love. He had saved the life of the hostage who was shot in the chest by the criminals, and they had fallen in love. Her name was Leah, and she was a nurse who worked at a nearby hospital. She knew about his secret, and supported him in his mission. They were happy together, but they also faced many challenges. They had to deal with the Demon's resentment and jealousy, which sometimes tried to sabotage their relationship. They also had to deal with the enemies that Finn had made as the Demon King, who wanted to destroy him and everything he cared about. One of these enemies was a mysterious figure known as the Dark Lord. He was a powerful and evil mastermind who controlled a vast criminal empire. He had a personal vendetta against Finn, because he was the one who had given him the Demon's mark in the first place. The Dark Lord had been searching for the Demon for centuries, hoping to harness its power for his own nefarious purposes. He had experimented on countless people, trying to implant them with the Demon's essence. But none of them could survive the process, or resist the Demon's will. He had finally found Finn, who was the perfect host for the Demon. He had kidnapped him and tortured him, trying to break his spirit and make him submit to him. He had also branded him with the Demon's mark, hoping to bind him to his will. But he had underestimated Finn's strength and courage. Finn had managed to escape from his clutches, and vowed to stop him from harming anyone else. He had also discovered that he could use the Demon's power against him, as it gave him an edge over his enemies. The Dark Lord was furious and obsessed with Finn. He wanted to capture him again, and make him his slave. He wanted to take away everything he loved, and make him suffer. He wanted to make him pay for his defiance. He devised a plan to lure Finn into a trap. He sent one of his agents to infiltrate Leah's hospital, and plant a bomb in it. He then contacted Finn anonymously, and told him that he had one hour to save Leah and everyone else in the hospital, or they would all die. He also told him that he had to come alone, or he would detonate the bomb immediately. He said that he wanted to face him one-on-one, and settle their score once and for all. Finn was shocked and enraged by the Dark Lord's message. He knew that it was a trap, but he also knew that he couldn't ignore it. He loved Leah more than anything in the world, and he couldn't let her die. He decided to go to the hospital, and try to find and disarm the bomb. He also decided to activate the Demon's power, and prepare for a fight. He kissed Leah goodbye, and told her that he loved her. He also told her that he would be back soon. He hoped that he was telling the truth. ``` Finn Balor arrived at the hospital, and looked for the bomb. He used his enhanced senses to scan the building, and detected a faint signal coming from the basement. He followed it, and found a metal suitcase hidden behind some boxes. He opened it, and saw a digital timer counting down from 10 minutes. He also saw a complex wiring system connected to a large explosive device. He realized that he had no idea how to disarm it. He cursed under his breath, and tried to think of a solution. He wondered if he could use the Demon's power to destroy the bomb, but he feared that it would cause a bigger explosion. He wondered if he could call for help, but he remembered that the Dark Lord had threatened to blow up the bomb if he did. He decided to try to cut the wires, and hope for the best. He took out his pocket knife, and looked for the right wire to cut. He had seen some movies where they always cut the red wire, but he wasn't sure if that was true. He decided to take a chance, and cut the red wire. He was wrong. The timer sped up, and started counting down from 5 seconds. He panicked, and dropped the knife. He grabbed the suitcase, and ran towards the exit. He hoped that he could get out of the building before it exploded. He was wrong. The bomb went off, and sent a shockwave through the basement. The floor collapsed, and Finn fell into a dark abyss. He screamed, and activated the Demon's power. He hoped that it would protect him from the blast. He was right. The Demon's power shielded him from the fire and debris. He felt a surge of energy coursing through his veins. His muscles bulged, his eyes glowed red, and his tattoo spread all over his body. He looked like a demonic version of himself, with horns, fangs, claws, and scales. He also felt a change in his personality. He became more aggressive, confident, and ruthless. He didn't care about anything else but survival. He wanted to get out of there, and find the Dark Lord. He wanted to make him pay for what he had done. He used his claws to dig his way out of the rubble. He saw a hole in the ceiling, and jumped through it. He landed on the ground floor of the hospital, where he saw chaos and destruction. He saw people running away from him in panic, but he didn't care. He felt invincible and unstoppable. He felt like he was the king of the world. He was wrong. He soon encountered a group of superheroes, who had arrived at the scene to help the victims and stop the culprit. They had heard about the bomb threat, and had rushed to the hospital as fast as they could. They saw Finn emerging from the hole in the ceiling, and they recognized him as the Demon King. They knew that he was a hero who used his power for good, but they also knew that he was unstable and dangerous when he lost control. They decided to try to calm him down, and talk to him. "Hey! Finn! It's us! Your friends!" They shouted at him, hoping to get his attention. Finn heard their voices, but he didn't recognize them. He only saw enemies who wanted to stop him from reaching his goal. He ignored them, and continued walking towards the exit. They tried to block his way, but he pushed them aside with ease. They tried to restrain him with their powers, but he broke free with force. They tried to reason with him with their words, but he didn't listen to them. He only listened to the Demon's voice in his head, which urged him to continue his rampage. "Kill them... Kill them all... They are nothing... You are everything..." The Demon's voice echoed in his mind. Finn obeyed. "' Finn Balor had become a monster. He had lost control of the Demon's power, and had attacked everyone who stood in his way. He had fought the superheroes who tried to stop him, and had injured many of them. He had also caused a lot of collateral damage to the hospital and the surrounding area. He had also lost Leah. She had survived the bomb blast, thanks to the quick intervention of one of the superheroes. She had been taken to another hospital, where she was treated for her wounds. She had also learned about what Finn had done, and she was heartbroken. She couldn't believe that the man she loved had turned into a violent and ruthless killer. She couldn't understand what had happened to him, or why he had changed so much. She couldn't forgive him for what he had done, or trust him again. She decided to end their relationship, and cut off all contact with him. She also decided to move away from the city, and start a new life somewhere else. She hoped that she could forget him. She was wrong. Finn eventually regained his senses, and realized what he had done. He was horrified and ashamed by his actions. He remembered who he was, and what he had lost. He realized that he had gone too far. He tried to find Leah, and apologize to her. He hoped that she would still love him, and give him another chance. He hoped that they could be happy together again. He was wrong. He learned that Leah had left him, and moved away. He also learned that she hated him, and wanted nothing to do with him. He also learned that she blamed him for everything that had happened, and wished that he would die. He was devastated. He tried to contact her, and beg for her forgiveness. He tried to explain what had happened, and how he felt. He tried to tell her that he still loved her, and that he needed her. He was wrong. She ignored his calls, messages, and letters. She blocked his number, email, and social media accounts. She refused to talk to him, or listen to him. She rejected his pleas, and his love. She wanted him to leave her alone. He was crushed. He decided to give up on Leah, and focus on his mission as the Demon King. He decided to use the Demon's power for good again, and fight the Dark Lord and his minions. He decided to redeem himself for his sins, and make the world a better place. He was wrong. He found out that the Dark Lord had escaped from his hideout, and gone into hiding. He also found out that he had hired a team of assassins to kill him. He also found out that he had a new plan to unleash a deadly virus on the city. He was furious. He decided to hunt down the Dark Lord, and stop him once and for all. He decided to use the Demon's power to its full extent, and show no mercy to his enemies. He decided to end this war, and make the Dark Lord pay for what he had done. He was wrong. He fell into another trap set by the Dark Lord. He was ambushed by the assassins, who attacked him with advanced weapons and tactics. He was outnumbered and outmatched by them. He was wounded and weakened by them. He was captured by them. They took him to a secret location, where they tortured and punished him mercilessly. They beat him up, burned him with fire, electrocuted him with wires, injected him with poison, cut him with blades, lashed him mercilessly with a firey bullwhip on his bare back and buttocks, broke his bones with hammers, ripped out his nails with pliers... They did everything they could think of to make him suffer. They also mocked him for being a failure as a hero and a lover. They told him how Leah hated him and wished he was dead. They told him how she had moved on with her life and found someone else. They told him how she was happy without him. They lied to him. They wanted to break his spirit and make him submit to them. They wanted to make him beg for death or mercy. They wanted to make him their slave. They were wrong. Finn endured their torture with gritted teeth and clenched fists. He refused to give in or give up. He resisted their pain and their lies. He fought back with his will and his pride. He also fought back with the Demon's power. He felt the Demon's presence in his mind again, but this time it was different. It wasn't angry or jealous or resentful of him anymore. It wasn't trying to take over him or destroy him anymore. It was trying to help him and save him. It said that it had seen his suffering and his courage, and that it had changed its mind about him. It said that it had realized that he was a worthy host and a worthy partner. It said that it had decided to join forces with him, and fight against their common enemy. It said that it was sorry for what it had done, and that it wanted to make amends. It said that it was ready to be his ally and his friend. It offered him its power and its support, and asked him to accept it. Finn was surprised and touched by the Demon's words. He felt a new connection and a new respect for it. He felt a new hope and a new strength in him. He decided to accept the Demon's offer, and trust it. He said yes. He felt the Demon's power flowing through him, healing his wounds and restoring his energy and health. He felt the Demon's voice guiding him, telling him what to do and how to do it. He felt the Demon's spirit joining him, becoming one with him. He became the Demon King again, but this time he was different. He was stronger, faster, smarter, and more powerful than ever before. He was also more balanced, calm, and focused than ever before. He was ready to escape from his captors, and confront the Dark Lord. He was ready to end this story. ``` Finn Balor escaped from the torture chamber, and fought his way out of the secret base. He used the Demon's power to defeat the assassins and the guards, and to destroy the weapons and the equipment. He also used the Demon's power to track down the Dark Lord, and to find his location. He followed his trail to an abandoned warehouse, where he saw a large truck parked outside. He sensed that the truck was carrying the deadly virus that the Dark Lord had planned to unleash on the city. He also sensed that the Dark Lord was inside the warehouse, waiting for him. He decided to confront him, and stop him once and for all. He decided to use the Demon's power to its full extent, and show no mercy to him. He decided to end this war, and make him pay for what he had done. He entered the warehouse, and saw the Dark Lord standing in front of a large screen. He saw that he was wearing a black cloak and a metal mask, hiding his face and his identity. He also saw that he had a remote control in his hand, ready to activate the virus. He greeted Finn with a cold and sinister voice. "Welcome, Finn Balor. Welcome to your doom." He pressed a button on the remote control, and activated the screen. He showed Finn a live feed of Leah's hospital room, where she was lying on a bed. She looked pale and weak, but she was still alive. He smiled wickedly behind his mask. "Say hello to your girlfriend, Finn. Or should I say, goodbye?" He revealed his plan to Finn. He said that he had planted another bomb in Leah's hospital room, and that he had set it to explode in 10 minutes. He said that he had also infected her with the virus, and that she was dying slowly and painfully. He said that he wanted Finn to watch her die, and to suffer as much as he did. He said that he wanted him to feel helpless and hopeless, and to lose everything he cared about. He said that he wanted him to know how it felt to be betrayed by someone he loved. He said that he was the one who had given Leah the virus. He said that he was Leah's father. He took off his mask, and revealed his face. Finn gasped in shock. He recognized him as Leah's father, who had abused her and her brother for years. He recognized him as the man who had forced them to join him in his criminal activities. He recognized him as the man who had tried to kill them when they refused. He also recognized him as the man who had kidnapped him and tortured him. He recognized him as the man who had branded him with the Demon's mark. He recognized him as the man who had ruined his life. He was the Dark Lord. He laughed maniacally at Finn's reaction. "Surprised? You shouldn't be. I've been watching you for a long time, Finn. Ever since you escaped from me, and became the Demon King. Ever since you met my daughter, and fell in love with her." He explained his motives to Finn. He said that he hated Finn for being stronger than him, and for resisting his control. He said that he hated Finn for being happier than him, and for finding love with his daughter. He said that he hated Finn for being better than him, and for being a hero. He said that he wanted to destroy Finn's happiness, and make him suffer. He said that he wanted to take away his power, and make him weak. He said that he wanted to take away his love, and make him lonely. He said that he wanted to take away his life, and make him dead. He pointed a gun at Finn's head. "Goodbye, Finn Balor. Goodbye, Demon King." He pulled the trigger. He missed. Finn dodged the bullet at the last second, thanks to the Demon's power. He reacted quickly, and charged at the Dark Lord. He tackled him to the ground, and punched him in the face. He fought with all his strength and all his rage. He used his fists and his claws to inflict pain on his enemy. He used his teeth and his horns to draw blood from his enemy. He used his voice and his words to insult his enemy. He wanted to kill him. But he didn't. He stopped himself at the last moment, thanks to Leah's love. He remembered her face and her voice in his mind. He remembered her kindness and her compassion in his heart. He remembered her words and her wishes in his soul. He wanted to honor her. He decided to spare the Dark Lord's life, and let him face justice. He decided to use the Demon's power for good again, and save the city. He decided to redeem himself for his sins, and make the world a better place. He decided to be a hero. He got up from the ground, and grabbed the remote control from the Dark Lord's hand. He pressed a button on it, and deactivated the bomb in Leah's hospital room. He also pressed another button on it, and deactivated the virus in the truck. He saved Leah's life, and the city's life. He smiled with relief and joy. He also felt the Demon's presence in his mind again, but this time it was different. It wasn't angry or jealous or resentful of him anymore. It wasn't trying to take over him or destroy him anymore. It was trying to help him and save him. It said that it was proud of him and his choice. It said that it had realized that he was a true hero and a true king. It said that it had decided to stay with him, and fight with him. It said that it was happy for him and his love. It said that it was ready to be his ally and his friend. It offered him its power and its support, and asked him to accept it. Finn was surprised and touched by the Demon's words. He felt a new connection and a new respect for it. He was also more balanced, calm, and focused than ever before. He was ready to leave the warehouse, and reunite with Leah. He was ready to end this story. But he also wanted to start a new one. A new story of love and happiness. A new story of peace and justice. A new story of Finn Balor and Leah. A new story of the Demon King Finn Balor of today The End ``` submitted by ptorres324 to u/ptorres324 [link] [comments] |

I am a general manager of a restaurant and need help/advice/insight on a situation that has just been brought to my attention. I've been a GM in multiple restaurants (mostly casual with 1 corporate stint) for about 6 1/2 years and have been in the industry for almost 20 years. I've always tried to be fair and nice to everyone while still being stern when need be in order to keep the business successful and operations smooth in an ever fluid industry. While I am not close with most staff, I am friendly with everyone, including my bar manager who I work very closely with. My bar manager and I have on a few occasions hung out outside of work and I do consider her a friend. But her as well as most of my staff know, work comes first and I will do what I need to do in best interest of the business.
A bartender of mine sent a text message to my owner this morning stating that she was having issues with my bar manager. She listed a couple things like "verbal abuse", feeling like she has a "target" on her back, and that my bar manager "shoved" her "in front of guests" this past weekend when they worked together. I was there during the shift as well. I was running around helping with various things, so while I didn't see this incident happen, i could've been out of the bar area when is apparently did happen. Now I know both my bar manager as well as this employee pretty well (more my bar manager than the bartender because we work together constantly), and I can say with 99% certainty, that my bar manager would never "shove" anyone! She would never be physical with anyone and certainly would never do something to hurt anyone. Now, I also know that this bartender can be dramatic, sensitive, and be exaggerative. She also has to get spoken to quite often about doind or not doing things she's suppose to do or not do. She's been working for us for about 8 months and we've had to tell her then same things over and over and over again. It's never anything major, just small things like bringing silverware and app plates to tables when they've ordered food, taking menus off of tables after they've put their order in, pre bussing dirty plates and glasses off of tables, etc. Things to help create a smooth experience for guests and staff. She's always very nice to guests and is definitely a hard worker, but there are still many things we have to tell her or remind her of almost every shift. So naturally, we get annoyed/aggrivated to have to repeat ourselves. Which brings me to the "verbal abuse" The bar manager also isn't "verbally abusive", but when she needs to tell someone for the 100th time not to do something, she (as well as myself) will take the more stern road to get the end result we are asking for. We are managers after all, and the majority of our job is to tell people what to do and correct someone whenbsoemthing is not done the way we asked them to do it. She has never yelled at any staff either. I guess my issue is, if I know an accusation isn't true and there is no physical proof of any of them, where do we go from here?! My bar manager is very upset, to the point of almost tears, about what has been said about her. She insists she never put her hands on anyone, which i totally believe, and also says while she doesnt think she is verbally abusive that she will be more aware of how she speaks to others (i said i would do the same even tho these accusations are not towards me. We are a team and I want her to know I have her back and whatever is one person's problem, is both our problems). I also want to add that my bar manager is almost 50, so shes not some young punk girl who wants drama or trouble, she is the exact opposite. So with that being said, while we don't necessarily believe the bartender is lying, we do however think she is exaggerating an accidental bump into someone behind the bar as a physical, intentional shove and that the bar manager doing her job to tell her she is doing something wrong is the "verbal abuse" and resulting in this bartender having a "target on her back". So where do we draw the line? We are simply doing out jobs by managing staff and then suddenly we're "bitches" for it, are unfair, being bullies, or however else anyone wants to categorize it. I have worked for people who were legitimately verbally abusive to me, screaming and yelling, and I take offense to thinking me or someone I've trained to be a manager for doing the same. Where do we go from here?! My owner is speaking with the bartender alone tomorrow to get her full side, then me again, then my bar manager to get her side. I've defended my bar manager to my owner and really think she is a great, hard worker who cares about the business, staff, and loves working for us. But say this bartender has time to think, realizes she may be exaggerating, and calms down, where does that leave my bar manager?? I think it's unfair for someone to work side by side with someone who has made such accusations that really can hurt someone's job. I believe this bartender truly doesn't understand the weight of the words she has spoken. She doesn't understand that saying someone physically put their hands on someone and shoved them can get them fired and ruin their career. I also never, ever want anyone to feel uncomfortable in the work place and have always made it be known that I, personally, have an open door policy and they can talk to me or text me about ANYTHING at ANY time of the day. Which my bartender has never used to her advantage.
Sorry this is so long and I guess I'm not sure what I'm asking or saying, but I guess I just want to put this out there for others to help me and my bar managers situation as well as my employee's situation and come to some sort of conclusion that gets no one fired (which may not be possible).

2023.06.06 22:30 amandaguilty Family drama – The murder of Sarah Scazzi – 2/2
<<< First part of the post My post got cancelled the first time, so I’m trying again. Wish me luck! :)
August 26, 2010. The reconstruction
For the Court, “decisive and definitive proof of the correctness of [this] reconstruction” of the relationship between Sabrina and Ivano and between the former and the victim, comes from a “datum of extraordinary genuineness” – Sarah’s last diary entry:
- August 26: “Today had the sweet awakening with the drill, last night then I went out for a while with Sabrina and her friend Mariangela, we went to the brewery for a quick red bull, then we came home and Sabrina as usual got mad because she says that when Ivano is there I’m always with him, and I believe you at least he cuddles me unlike her, I could have 1 boyfriend like that! But whatever, I’m used to it anyway.....By Buffy Rock 95”
According to all the testimonial evidence, on both the morning and afternoon of August 26, Sarah (once she’d returned from San Pancrazio) went to Sabrina’s house; but why would she do so if the relationship had broken down? The Court considers this issue, advanced by the defense, and replies that
once her brother had left, hanging out with Sabrina represented, for young Sarah, hungry for life and leisure, the only opportunity to get out, to escape from a family environment that appeared to her to be rigid and, at that time, with her grandfather dying and her mother busy caring for him, certainly bleak and oppressive.
Anna Pisanò’s testimony sheds light on the underlying conflict between the cousins, although her account of the morning – as well as the other portions of her testimony – has been rejected by the defense, who argued that Pisanò’s role as a “super-witness” (more on this later) was the by-product of her resentment towards Sabrina, of “her willingness to create misunderstandings” and of the shared religious beliefs with Concetta. The Court rejected this argument reporting that Pisanò and Sabrina were quite intimate friends before the disappearance and the religious practices Pisanò participated to still don’t explain why she would have falsely accused Sabrina. In any case, Pisanò was a client of Sabrina; she said she was close with her, although the latter contradicted her in court.
7:55-9:30 am: Pisanò said to the investigators and later to the judges that, on the morning of August 26, she went to Sabrina’s for a session (she worked as a beautician off the books); after like an hour, Sarah arrived. Pisanò noticed that she looked unhappy and that she didn’t greet her as usual. The prosecution used this episode to argue the confrontation of the night before continued on August 26, but the defense replied that either a) Pisanò was disliked by Sarah because two years before she had said to Sarah that her father was a womanizer or b) the story narrated by Pisanò was false since the other witnesses who saw Sarah that morning don’t report anything unusual about her. Make of that what you will.
12-12:30 pm: Once she had returned to her own home, coming from the Misseris, Sarah informed her mother that she was “probably” going to the beach with Sabrina and that, in any case, she would have to wait for confirmation by her cousin. Immediately thereafter, Sarah had asked to accompany her father, who was headed for meat and fruit shopping.
1:45-2 pm: Sarah left her house and headed for Sabrina’s without having received the confirmation message from Sabrina. This is corroborated by
- testimonial evidence (Sarah’s housekeeper Pantir, since the first time she was heard by the investigators, on September 1, 2010, but also later, on December 14, has always maintained that Sarah left the house to go to her cousin’s approximately shortly before 2 pm, after having quickly eaten a chicken cutlet; Antonio Petarra, an Avetrana resident and neighbor of Sarah, saw her walking down the street around 1:45 pm; likewise, a young couple;
- forensic-pathological evidence (medical examiner Strada calculated the ToD considering that Sarah had eaten precooked and homogenized food around 1:30 pm; this was contested by the defense for two reasons: a) the first, methodological, is based on the failure of the state’s forensic pathologist to analyze separately gastric content and b) the scientific questionability of the consequences of stress on the digestive phenomenon);
- cell tower evidence (the first worrying contact someone had with Sarah’s phone was Sabrina’s call at 2:42 pm – the call went to voicemail, apparently making Sabrina go in hyperventilation – and from the analysis of cell towers we know that, during this call, Sarah’s terminal pinged off the tower 40067-60241-TA-AVETRANA-Via Ludovico Ariosto-Sett.1, serving Michele’s garage, while, in the previous contacts from her schoolmate and Sabrina, the tower used was the one serving the Scazzis and the Misseris. This tells us that either Sarah was killed shortly before 2:42 pm by Michele in the garage or that Sarah’s corpse was moved in the garage by someone after she had been killed inside the house. If we hold forensic pathologist Strada’s conclusion that Sarah was strangled with a belt as true, the second hypothesis seems the more likely narration. If we additionally take into account that Sarah didn’t reply to her schoolmate messages and rings – and she was used to respond instantly according to the latter – we can conclude that Sarah was already dead at 2:25 pm and that moves the clock back also for Sarah’s departure from her house).
The Court stated that the reconstruction advanced by the defense – according to which Sarah waited for the 2:25 pm confirmation message in order to go to Sabrina’s – can’t be accepted also because it didn’t make sense for Sarah not to reply to her schoolmate Francesca’s messages if she was really waiting for the confirmation message and wasn’t engaged in any housework. The most plausible reasons why she left before receiving the message are to be identified with the fact that Sarah didn’t want to participate in the house renovations and was anxious to go to the beach.
The defense also attacked the testimony of Pantir indirectly arguing that the “young couple” – that’s the name media used to describe Giuseppina Nardelli and Fedele Giangrande – since a week after the disappearance have always said that they’d seen Sarah walking down the street after 2 pm. The Court countered that Sabrina had tried to influence the memories of the people involved in the case and that’s the distal cause of the young couple’s testimony:
[I]t is well understood how the imprimatur of a certain time indication that placed Sarah’s disappearance around 2:30 pm and, in any case, before 2:42 pm, the time when the search for her began, was provided precisely by Sabrina Misseri in the course of the interviews she gave, with the effect of conditioning not only, as already seen, the memories of Sarah’s family members, but also the information disseminated by the media.
That would explain why the missing person report compiled by Concetta mentioned 2:30 pm as the time of disappearance – Sarah’s mother had simply taken at face value Sabrina’s indication that she’d sent the confirmation message around that time. Moreover, in at least another occasion, Sabrina tried to influence directly a person informed about the facts surrounding the disappearance, namely Mariangela. This is an excerpt from an intercepted conversation between two on September 30, 2010 in the Carabinieri headquarters:
- S: “If… sitting under the porch I was, you know”
- M: “No, Sabri”
- S: “Look, you’re misremembering…”
- M: “No, Sabri”
- S: “That… that if I was sitting…”
- M: “No… you were sitting, last time you were sitting, when I came you were… And you had even closed the gate and I said, ‘what about Sarah?’”
It’s also a fact that the after-2-pm version was initially accredited because everyone thought the last movements of Sarah’s cell phone were genuine and not the result of post-mortem manipulation (more on this later), so it’s not illogical to think that the young couple could have “aligned” their memories with what they deemed to be true. Still, I think the defense raises a good point; ultimately, it’s likely that Giangrande and Nardelli misremembered or made a bad estimation because their original memory (in the later versions they admit it could have been also 2 pm) simply doesn’t fit with all the other evidence, especially Pantir’s testimony, who talked about 2 pm as the time of Sarah leaving the house when everyone else thought the correct time was another.
1:50-2:05 pm: Sarah arrived at Sabrina’s. Testifying to this there are Cosima’s intercepted words: “it would have been better if lightning had fallen on the house, electrocuting us all that day… electrocuting us all before the girl came”. It’s unlikely that she went to the garage as hypothesized by the defense since, even according to Sabrina, she wasn’t used to hang out alone there at all. Moreover,
It is utterly implausible that Sarah Scazzi – if previously molested, as the Defenses assume – could have decided, for no plausible reason, to voluntarily descend into the dark garage, into the clutches of her molesting uncle (as will be said shortly, just as the latter, enraged by the failure to start the tractor, was shouting and “swearing” like a possessed).
Sabrina testified in court that around this time (when, for example, she received her cousin Adamaria’s call and didn’t respond to it) she was resting in the double bed of her parents, though this is contradicted by Michele even when the latter was offering a completely self-accusatory version: he said that he’d talked to Sabrina in the house before Sarah arrived. On the other hand, Cosima – who according to Sabrina was lying next to her in the double bed – never mentioned the numerous calls, messages and rings her daughter had received in those minutes. Why would she lie about this, in any case?
There was, in fact, a need to defer the moment of her exit to the porch, in order to exclude the possibility of a meeting with Sarah at the moment when the latter – according to the defense version, which saw her leaving the house after receiving confirmation text messages from her cousin – was arriving at the Misseri house.
It’s difficult to understand, moreover, why Sabrina would send the message, “I’m trying [to poo] in the bathroom :)”, to Mariangela if, as she testified in court, the “attempt” lasted only a few seconds. But there are lots of contradictions in Sabrina’s accounts of the events. The shower that, according to previous statements, she had taken once she got out of bed, in the trial statements became a “rinse” of her private parts; regarding the message of 2:39:27 pm to Mariangela (“Ready”), Sabrina, in her statements of October 15, said she’d typed it when she was on the porch, but – faced with the contestation that she had stated that, 55 seconds earlier, when she had received the message from Angela Cimino, she was with certainty in the bathroom – she argued at trial that this message had been sent when she “was going out on the porch”. Concerning these details, the defense tried to deflect holding that Sabrina was in a state of “mental confusion” caused by her cousin’s – to whom she was very close – disappearance. The Court replied that
The detectable contradictions cannot be the result of mnemonic deficits, especially since, most of the time, this is not the explanation that was given by the defendant to justify the narrative inconsistencies.
At this point, though, we have to introduce a crucial witness who showed up quite late but was deemed genuine (at least in his first deposition) by the prosecution and then by the Court; his name is Giovanni Buccolieri and he was a florist in Avetrana.
The kidnapping: the dream of the florist and Cosima’s motive
The finding of kidnapping, contested in complicity to Cosima Serrano and Sabrina Misseri, in the reconstruction of the criminal facts constitutes the logical and factual antecedent of the murder of Sarah Scazzi: the young girl, shortly after entering the house, hastily left [Sabrina’s house], heading on foot toward her home; however, she was chased and immediately tracked down by Cosima Serrano who, together with Sabrina Misseri, forced her to board the Opel Astra car and, placing herself in the driver’s seat again, drove her back to her home in Via Deledda, where she was strangled.
The path by which the information about the kidnapping reached investigators was tortuous. On April 5, 2011, super-witness Anna Pisanò talked with the investigators to report that, in September 2010, she’d heard by her daughter Vanessa Cerra that “someone” she knew had seen Cosima grab Sarah by the hair, snatch her and throw her in the Misseri car on the afternoon of August 26, 2010. Pisanò had asked many times to Cerra who was this mysterious individual, but she decided to make his name only when she left for a job in Germany (saying that, if questioned, he would have said that it was only a dream). When Pisanò discovered the identity of the witness, she went to the investigators.
April 9, 2011 is the day Buccolieri appeared before prosecutors to offer information about Sarah’s disappearance. Only two days later, however, he requested another interview to retract what he’d already told, justifying himself by saying that he wasn’t sure it was real – it could have been a very vivid dream. The prosecutors immediately charged him with perjury, since either the first or the second interview contained false information. Then, in court, Buccolieri used his right to remain silent, although the content of the first interview was mentioned in the motivation report that sentenced Cosima (and Sabrina) to life in prison.
The florist’s dream is one of the most contested points of the sentence. The Supreme Court observed that Buccolieri retracting his testimony about having seen the kidnapping has to be explained in terms of an “attempt to evade the judicial responsibilities incumbent on him”. On the contrary, Cosima’s and especially Sabrina’s defenses argued that only Anna Pisanò reported the incident by talking about a real fact and not a dream, and that she cannot be trusted for the reasons described above.
Concerning the validity of the testimony, the Court considered firstly the discrepancy between Buccolieri’s preoccupation with the incident and it supposedly being just a vivid dream:
that Buccolieri continued, in the days and months that followed, to talk about the affair, albeit representing it as a “dream”, to relatives, relatives-in-law and friends while showing agitation and disturbance, however, makes it quite clear that he – aware of the seriousness of the episode and its significance as an essential junction in the reconstruction of the murder – could not help but think about it and, therefore, talk about it.
Mention has already been made of Pisanò’s credibility, which again becomes an important point here. The woman reported to investigators that her daughter had told her about the incident in terms of a real fact, while the daughter claimed that Buccolieri had only ever told her about a very vivid dream that made it difficult to understand whether it was real or not. Cerra said in court that, when she had asked again Buccolieri to go talk with the investigators, he replied, “If they call me, I deny everything”.
This is probably the strangest piece of evidence pertaining to this case, the only one directly implicating Cosima and it’s quite difficult to assess its validity. The Court considered the issue and tried to justify its reasoning in more than 100 pages. There are reasons both to believe and not to believe that it was a vivid dream.
Firstly, we know for a fact that Buccolieri did have a flower delivery to do on that day. Interestingly, his description of the abduction temporally preceded the discovery of Sarah’s body; this suggests that he may have been truthful insofar as he would have anticipated other evidence emerging from the trial. Another reasoning in favor of the theory that the kidnapping was real is that Cerra wouldn’t have asked Buccolieri to talk with the Carabinieri if his narrative had been really told in the terms of a dream; at the same time, Cerra wouldn’t have refused to tell her mother the name of the dreamer. It would also have been strange for Pisanò – if she had falsely said that the kidnapping was real – to have been able to predict that Buccolieri would speak in the terms of a real fact in his first interview. Finally, the Court considered that the fact Buccolieri said to Cerra that only she knew how things went proved that what he said to his wife and mother-in-law (namely, that it was all a dream) was false – in other words, only Cerra was able to listen to the “true” account of the events; Pisanò then managed to discover it and told about it to the investigators.
On the other hand, it would be dishonest not to acknowledge that Buccolieri to this day maintains that the prosecutors somehow convinced him that the episode was factual, when in reality, according to him, it was only a dream. Other bits of intercepted conversation suggest either that Buccolieri was truthful when he accredited the dream version or that he was trying to impose it to Cerra: “The two of us, when we talked, we talked about a dream and that’s all… we didn’t talk about anything else”. Others again seem to imply that there was a common preoccupation, between Buccolieri and Cerra, with not being involved in the case: “You have to say that… the right things, Va”, “But I said the right things”. In court, Buccolieri’s wife Giuseppina Scredo testified that her husband seemed worried about the “dream” because at the same time he told her about it circumstantial items against Cosima had emerged – but prosecutors replied that, in reality, Cosima became a suspect only in 2011, so it’d have been exaggerated for Buccolieri to be worried about the dream:
[Buccolieri], however, would have had no reason to feel such dismay if it was merely a dream going back in time or if he was in doubt between dream and reality, and even less so if [the story about the kidnapping] was the result of popular suggestion or a “collective dream” of the Avetranese who disliked Serrano. […] Unless we want to attribute to Buccolieri premonitory powers and divinatory abilities, it is not possible that, immediately after Michele Misseri’s arrest, he could have already had suspicions – based, it should be assumed, solely on the unjustifiable dislike he felt for a fellow citizen with a “strong” character whom he saw appearing on television – about Cosima Serrano, so much so that he became convinced of her guilt and “dreamed” of her involvement in the victim’s kidnapping.
It’s also important to ask what would be Cosima’s motive. The Court considered that
The attention that the entire family paid to the aspect of public consideration is further evidenced by Valentina Misseri’s statement at trial about the reasons underlying the reproaches that she and her sister Sabrina used to address to the young Sarah because of the young girl’s affectionate attitudes – which they considered excessive and out of place – to people of the opposite sex, or the makeup that was too “heavy” for her age, which could have, in the older cousins’ view, aroused the gossip of the Avetranese community (“people who talk and are gossipy”) by having the minor girl ‘labeled’ as a ‘no-good’.
Cosima was therefore greatly concerned about what might be said about her daughter if her failed intercourse and on-and-off relationship with Ivano were discovered and especially held Sarah responsible for the humiliation her daughter suffered. As for why she decided to follow Sarah back to her house like the florist had described, the Court considers that the news of the argument was not supposed to reach the Scazzi home – if it had happened, Sarah’s parents would’ve been outraged at Cosima and Sabrina for everything “improper” for a 15-year-old Sarah had discovered or participated to (especially in a rural, tight-knit community as Avetrana is): from knowing about the intercourse to being photographed in pajamas with Sabrina by a shirtless Ivano late one night in May 2010.
It is also shown that the defendant [Cosima] Serrano paid extreme attention to the profile of family respectability, opposing conduct of her daughter that appeared to her, in terms of mentality, age, and culture, to be excessively uninhibited – so much so that she regularly called Sabrina insulting epithets alluding to her sexual mores (“bitch”, “whore”). […] The affront suffered at the hands of the little girl, her rebellion against the authority of her aunt and the fear that she would reveal facts that would compromise the honorability of the Misseri family, generated a strong emotional reaction in the woman that induced her to commit the kidnapping and, once the little girl was brought back home, to commit the crime of murder.
The murder and the weapon
According to the Court that convicted the defendants, Sarah entered the Misseri’s house and stayed there for only a few minutes before leaving abruptly. The fight that broke out that afternoon had to be different from the typical altercations between the two girls, having required the intervention of Cosima.
Sarah, who was attacked and reprimanded, did not suffer supinely this time: she must have experienced those reprimands, those accusations as so undeserved, disproportionate and unjust that she reacted harshly toward her aunt in harsh tones, and with accusations, certainly serious and unexpected, that affected not only her cousin, but also her aunt because of the seriousness of them. […] The questioning of the authority of the two women, Serrano’s outrage at what must have seemed to her to be intolerable accusations made by Sarah and an inadmissible act of rebellion, as well as a show of ingratitude on the part of the little girl who had been welcomed and raised “like a daughter” in that home, the realization that Sarah had grown up and was no longer the shy and submissive child who could be “managed”, but a person capable of reacting, responding in kind, questioning the authority of the two “parental” figures, even rivaling her older cousin and revealing her habits and secrets, shaming her before her mother’s eyes, all these things triggered the reaction of Sabrina Misseri and Cosima Serrano. After they had returned to the Misseri’s house on the Opel Astra, Sabrina and Cosima strangled Sarah with a belt, one holding her down and the other tightening her grip around the neck. This is also corroborated by the forensic-pathological evidence: according to prof. Strada’s autopsy, “a flat, ribbon-like furrow in the front of the neck is clearly visible [on Sarah’s neck], even to the layman”, while “excluding the mode of strangulation hypothesized by the defense [i.e. a kind of complete hanging] is the absence of signs of fracture of the hyoid bone and cricothyroid cartilages”. Strada concluded therefore that the murder weapon was a belt, the seams of which produced the furrow present on Sarah’s neck.
Against the objections of Sabrina's and Cosima’s defense – which argued that the indication of the murder weapon was intended to shift the blame towards the two defendants – there is the fact that the autopsy was filed on November 11, 2010, when Michele was still the only suspect: Strada could not have known that Sabrina and Cosima would be investigated shortly thereafter.
It is therefore clear that the indication of a belt, not a rope, as the murder weapon preceded the reconstruction that, only later, by virtue of an unambiguous circumstantial framework, came to identify the Misseri family home as the scene of the murder.
The Court noted that “the defense counsel ultimately failed to provide a plausible alternative explanation for the presence of the whitish furrow ‘averaging 2.6 cm wide’ found on the front of the victim’s neck, nor did he effectively explain the origin and nature of the repetitive segmented, in-line impressions present at the edges of said furrow”. In response to the argument that the weapon may have been a rope (such as the one indicated by Michele), the Court underlined that Strada argued extensively that the furrow couldn’t have been produced by such a constraining means.
In addition to that, the Court holds that – since on Sarah’s neck “a sharp, smudge-free pattern was detected” and “the victim did not put up any resistance, especially since it was found that there was no further injury to the ‘structures’ of the neck” – the perpetrators of the vicious attack must have been two, namely Sabrina and Cosima. It was also argued that, if Cosima should be held responsible for kidnapping Sarah and make her go back to the Misseri house, then it becomes quite hard to explain how she didn’t also participate to the actual murder. If the florist’s story is not a dream, Cosima is responsible for killing her niece.

2023.06.06 22:30 22HitchSlaps Careful what you wish for
I've been working from home on and off since the pandemic started and recently it's gotten me thinking about a concept which is often referenced in popculture, whether that's TV, film, books, games or philosophical thought experiments.
The idea is that somehow you come across a genie and they grant you a set amount of wishes and usually as the tale goes, slowly as you make your way through the wishes you realise that despite the fact that they are literally what you asked for, they aren't quite what you actually wanted.
This has gotten me thinking about about how society is structured and how so many of the things that are sold to us, whether those are literal products or ideas, might seem good on the surface but are actually not what anyone would want.
To circle back to working from home. Do I love that I don't have to go into an office and do the wagey life, sure. Did I want to live nearly my entire life in one room, while even then struggling to save any money to ever change that, no. Did I want to stop having bullshit conversations, sure, did I want to stop all human interaction, no.
This idea could be expanded to most everything in modern society. "I want all human knowledge at my fingertips" - the internet in its current form. "I want to be able to stay in touch with friends from miles away" - social media. "I want all the foods anyone could possibly want" super markets filled with processed shit. Even if you take something trival and childish like "I want to see boobs whenever I want!" - is Only Fans really what anyone wanted? Is anyone seriously arguing that this is the peak of what we are capable of? To me it seems like a joke.
I've been struggling recently to define what it is that I want out of life and I think a good part of that relates to the fact that we seem to have created a society where in that, whatever it is that you actually wish for, somehow you seem get the worst possible version of it. The more I learn amount the reality of those who have achieved my dreams the more I wonder, who the fuck would want that?
Perhaps I'm just making excuses but I wonder if anyone else relates to this concept. Cheers.

A little background here, I (23F) dated let’s call him Logan (24M) for about 4 months. The start of our relationship was questionable considering i had lost my boyfriend due to suicide about 6 months prior, in hindsight i was definitely not ready for a relationship, but i had a past with Logan and i felt very safe with him so i gave it a shot. Our relationship was ok, until he cheated on me during a mental health break (i wasn’t doing well and he wasn’t either so i figured a break is the best option for us.) I ended up forgiving him because he truly is a good guy and deserved another chance. Our relationship continued to get worse, I was still resenting him for cheating with another girl and it was dragging us down. on my birthday towards the end of the year, i checked his social media and saw him giving out his number and snap to girls, I told him either them or me, he picked them. Even after all of this, i still wanted to stay even though the love was gone and i basically had no feelings for him, nothing. So i told him, keep your hoes, just don’t leave me. he ended up complaining about my weight and that’s when i dumped him. I ended up moving to arkansas and returned about 4 months later. when i got back, i decided to see how he was doing (considering not only me in the relationship but he was also struggling mentally). Let’s just say looks wise he had what i can only call the biggest glow up ever. besides his looks,he is still very kind, and no flaws to him besides the fact that he’s still talking to multiple girls. I still see him, mostly for well… you know but whenever we see each other in public we get to talking and all of the old feelings are prominent. At this point, being back for a bit over a month i’m positive i’m still insanely in love with him. it’s been over a year since my late boyfriend passed and mentally i’m better than I have been in a very long time. I am truly to blame for our relationship going south, and i know that. but am i the asshole for wanting him back now that he’s worked on himself and he’s a better person?

2023.06.06 22:30 Lazy-Branch-2571 I do absolutely nothing on my days off from work. I set a goals checklist, and don’t accomplish a single thing
I work at a hospital. I work 3, 12-hour shifts. And then either one 4 or 8 hour shift as my overtime. Most of the time, I have 3 days off. Some weeks they’re consecutive, some weeks they’re not
Only thing that’s consistent, is my laziness on those days. I work hard. I never miss a shift. I’m never late. But on my days off, I could sit and stare at the tv for 8 hours. Yesterday, was my day off. I checked my pedometer on my phone. I had 126 steps. For an entire day. That made me look at how lazy I am.
Last week, I had to run to the laundromat to wash clothes. I was out of undershirts and underwear. The normal thing to do would be to get up, and go wash them. Nope! Not me. I spent extra money, for Amazon same day delivery…for a package of underwear and socks.
There’s so much I want to do. There’s so much I want to see and experience. I dream about everything I want to accomplish. Yet, I can’t get myself to leave my apartment.
Did anyone struggle with this? How do I force myself to leave my apartment?

2023.06.06 22:30 noassyla my bf was using opioids for two months behind my back and has now left me
i feel like sick, I feel like I can’t be at home in my own body sick. and at first I tried to escape from my own brain with drinking, but found myself unable to do any of that last night. i tried to stop drinking in our relationship in which I’d stop for a while, but because I would be so mistreated and devalued I would get drunk and either simply express my feelings or tell him he’s an asshole and a piece of shit. which would result in it becoming about me being drunk and not about how he’s hurting me as it was also about what I did wrong and if I tried to hold him accountable he would just cry and say “I deserve better” or other things. making me feel bad and like I’m to blame. he blamed me for being raped in February. He told me he was dating me bc I wouldn’t say no to him(abt drug usage) he would cause me distress and watch me throw up shaking and crying with no emotional expressions of concern. he told me I was a rebound then took it back. One time I was drunk and I thought he was ignoring me bc he’d do that and I just pleaded and sobbed on the phone saying sorry just bc I felt ignored - he just played a video game with his friends in the background telling them how bad I was. i myself have extensive trauma that I’ve been working on but it had felt impossible to continue working on it. so we agreed to go on a break but he was being reallly mean to me just bc I was trying to talk abt what I want from it and he said I was guilt tripping him. i decided that he was just not in the right state as the other night when he mistreated me and looked me dead in my face and said “he was breaking up with me to remove everyone from his life.” He said he would go to rehab but then took it back. This was a few days ago. I decided that we weren’t going to be able to take a break so I tried to show him the damage he had done to me. I wouldn’t leave my bed, my friends were sick and tired of seeing me constantly suffer, but I put my needs aside bc if I was upset he would leave me to show me that it’s conditional and that he can take his love away at any time. well I tried to find a way to share with his parents as he was stealing from them too - his mom being a therapist- that he’s using. (which I’m surprised he even told me bc he lied to me a lot even about simple things like a flu test but would go to extremes for all lies) he used kratom like every day as well. he’s now blocked me on everything and the last words he said to me was that he does not love me and never wants to interact with me again. i haven’t eaten in two days. i can’t do anything but sulk bc he knows that I have cptsd and severe trauma and feel inherently like I don’t deserve love. my therapist says she saw this all unfold for months of how hard I tried to make it a healthy relationship. And slowly I gained weight, wouldn’t leave my bed, and had really bad thoughts about myself would inflict self harm through drinking. one night I got drunk and I tried to grind on him to try and get him to rape me when extremely blacked out. because I have been raped since I was 4 and over 50 times. he would say he understands but is now saying I raped him. in which I didn’t- that’s not what he said happened until trying to really hurt me now - I got drunk the first night we met and tried to do this as well but he didn’t care then just got away from me so now it feels like he just wants me to feel so bad about myself. my therapist said he’s punishing me. I can’t shake the feeling. I feel like it’s all my fault. I really care about him and I’ll never see him again. I know I wasn’t perfect and how I behave w extensive mistreatment and trauma has improved a lot. but with repetitive emotional abuse it was like he just became my father and I couldn’t escape it. I just wanted to love and be loved. I already miss him so much. Will he realize he was mistreating me from the beginning?

2023.06.06 22:30 Mindless-Reply-3088 Rude manager fired my gf and was unnecessary throughout the entire time she worked there
Out of six people my gf was always there when he called and she got a better job offer and she talked to him about and he said it’d be a conflict of interest and promised to give her work to help her learn the industry, he never did. So last week she put in her two weeks (a physical paper of it) and her mom told her send an email to both of us so she has a copy too (she’s very exact with things like this) and he got mad called my gf into the office and berated her and used big words to belittle her and then said “idk if you can understand these words” she can she’s not stupid and then got mad he had to do laundry because that’s “her job” no her job was to learn not be a cleaning lady she’s not in college to clean a shop and so he escorted her out mad dogging her like she’s a fucking girl you’re a grown man what makes you think it’s ok to intimidate her like that and there’s more but just unprofessionally rude while talking down on her how she was unprofessional ( this isn’t the first time he’s done this he’s been terrible the whole time) and so now I’m thinking of how can I get him I originally planned his car slashing the tires busting a window or even spray painting the shop front but it doesn’t feel like enough and I’m not breaking a shop window they have cats and I don’t want them to get out or hurt but I just can’t think of anything better than destroying his car or defacing the company building so any ideas ?

2023.06.06 22:30 ruinyourself A glimmer of hope for those who need it.
I shared my story here a little over a month ago, here:
https://www.reddit.com/naranon/comments/132g6bl/setting_boundaries_is_this_just_foreve Sorry this is long, just typing it out helps me a lot. I'd always come here to read other peoples experiences so I thought I'd share mine too, hoping it helps others.
At the end of my last post, my husband began going through withdrawals, admitted that is what was happening and why he started acting so weird and looked so uncomfortable. I made him go to a hotel to go through withdrawals because I'm over it, don't want any of this bullshit in my house, and wanted him to suffer from the consequences of his own choices and actions away from me.
3 or 4 days later, he came back home, still HEAVILY in withdrawals. He said this is, by far, the worst withdrawals he had ever gone though, and they haven't stopped yet. There was no hump to get over. He looked like shit, he stank, he was crawling out of his skin, he was so emotional and hated himself and couldn't stand feeling this way, and he was hyperventilating. He said he needed to go to the ER, so I drove him there. I'm far beyond the point of crying over this shit anymore.
In the ER he got fluids and Ativan which kept him from hyperventilating - his heart rate was through the roof. The meds stabilized him and he was able to relax and speak normally. I said "Yeah, you can't come home after this. You can go to rehab or you can go someplace else." And he agreed and wanted to go to rehab.
I found him a rehab and drove him there straight from the ER. This is his first time in rehab. I dropped him off for the next 30 days.
I thought this would bring me peace, him finally admitting he needed rehab and couldn't handle this on his own, and that he was taking steps to fix this issue. But instead I just felt crushing loneliness, at home with our puppy, all alone. I was incredibly distracted at work, and it really felt like I was in a deep hole I couldn't crawl out of. I've never felt this way before and it freaked me out. There were so many unknowns. I was terrified that after he started feeling marginally better in a week and a half he would call and demand to be picked up, then we'd start all of this all over again.
He did call 10 or so days later, and did ask to be picked up. He complained about some stuff at rehab, the rules, the regimen, etc. I was crushed, since I desperately wanted this to be a life changing experience for him. I refused to pick him up, and immediately called his therapist in rehab to tell them what was going on. He called me back 30 minutes later to apologize and say he would stay and make the most out of it.
Then a huge change happened. He connected on a deep level with the other people in rehab. He heard their stories, and was able to relate to people in the exact situation he was in with work, life, everything. He was around people who had literally nothing for the first time in his life, and it moved him. He was allowed to order a couple things he needed on Amazon, and got a hoodie and some sweatpants for a guy who didn't have a change of clothes. He gave away a pair of his shoes to another guy who only had shoes that didn't fit. He said he laughed more with one of his roommates than he had laughed in years. Many people told him how much of an impact my husband made on them also. This did wonders for his self confidence. He can't bring that stuff up without getting choked up, still.
All of his walls came down. He would talk to his therapist for hours, and she helped him more than I think she'll ever realize. All of his life stresses were validated. All of his idiotic misconceptions about rehab, therapy, and recovery, went away. It started to click, and he was doing what he needed to do to to get better.
He also received an autism diagnosis from his therapist. I think this has helped him immensely, and made him realize why some things in life are harder for him than others. He welcomed this diagnosis and isn't ashamed.
We talked a couple days before he was to be picked up, and requested I bring some specific pairs of shoes he never wore for the guys in there (lol).
He went into PHP immediately after rehab and is still open and willing to continue working in the recovery space. One guy there didn't have any transportation, and my husband cleaned up and brought one of his bikes he never uses. Small things like this made a big difference to my husband. Helping people. I hope he continues in some form.
It's only been a couple of weeks since he's been home, but the change is drastic. He only speaks fondly of rehab and thanked me for not picking him up early. He's been emotional about what he went through, what he's put me though, and is now completely open to self reflection. He shares stories about the other guys he met and connected with, and I think it's really made a huge impact on him, along with the diagnosis he received. It's been like a complete 180. He's shared his addiction story with a handful of friends, talked to my Mom about it, has offered to take drug tests at home (which i'm not interested in), has been taking care of the house/yard, and generally just now a present spouse who isn't hiding away half of the time anymore. The way he speaks about recovery, drugs, and his apparent honesty have put me at ease so much. He's no longer hyper defensive and snippy. He's just.....himself.
For now, things are good. They feel normal. This was my dream outcome from him going to rehab. I know people relapse all the time, and going to rehab once doesn't often "fix" people. I'll probably never stop being on the lookout, but for now, I feel at ease.
When I made the other post, I truly never thought he'd be able to be as open and honest with himself and others about what he was doing and how far gone he was. But rehab really made a huge difference - in his self confidence, in understanding how addiction works and what it is, and the connections he made with others.
So, this is my glimmer of hope. Thanks for reading. I'm holding onto it for now and thankful that I have it.

2023.06.06 22:29 SailorEwaJupiter Why has Catholicism traditionally been so open to art variety (esp different racial and ethnic representation) but so rigid about a single Sacred Language Until Pope John Paul II? While Eastern Orthodoxy had been strict about art styles despite being so open about language variety in masses?
My family are immigrants to America from from Portugal. Grandma and Grandparents still take Latin language mass, believing it to be the only legit form of mass.......
Now my Avos are pretthy nationalistic, to the point they have been accused of white supremacy by modern woke crowds. Even discounting how seemingly patriotic they are about being Portugeuse, they hold many old views like homosexuality being a great evil, using condom condemns to hell, and so many "rightwing beliefs"..............
Yet despite that they will treat statue of nonwhite Jesus used by Brazillians with utmost sacredness, they had prayed to a Lady of Guadalupe statue without hesitation, and despite their bragging about Portuguese pride they treat everybody black, Vietnamese, and so on with complete respect. Even allowing my sister to marry a MidEastern person who attends an Eastern Catholic Church and treating one of my cousins who's dark skinned and half Guatemalan with utmost equality as a family member.
However as I said earlier they only attend Latin mass church. They genuinely believe that Language was the one sole thing that kept the whole Church united and Vatican 2 Open a permanent damage to the Church by creating more ethnic strife bby allowing the use of different langauges. That Latin as the sacred liturgy was what keep people from all different churches and races using a variety of art traditions from the stereotypical desert Hispanic design of architectural building to the Lady of La Vang who looks very Vietnamese.............. That the Church as united through Latin and the language effectively shut people from beinging controversial issues to mass such as illegal immigration from non-English countries and white supremacy and ethnic segregation in France and other nations where French is an official language.
So they believe despite John Paul II's benevolent intentions, officially allowing Vernacula Mass has destroyed Church unity and is a big reason why stuff like BLM and Latinos refusing to learn English are getting hacked into the Church.........
That said I know Eastern Orthodoxy on the fsurface seems dicided by ethnicity...... Yet any devoute Orthodox Christian shares the same views as my grandparents where despite being proud of their ethnicity, they'd ultimately believe we are all human and despite nationality, race, and ethnicity were are all equal under the banner of one church.... And that this is pretty much the stancce of the Orthodox council that all humans within the CHurch are ultimately all human beings equal under the eyes of God...........
SO it makes me curious. Oothodox Christianity from what I can read fromt he beginning had always been a supporter of the Vernacular and the Church believes local language liturgy reflects just how much mankind is equal in God's eyes and respectful of all the different cultures under Eastern Orthodoxy. I even seen some theologians in Orthodoxy point out to the Tower of Babel as proof that God does not want a united language in the united Churchh but wants a variety of language used in mass across the entire Orthodoxy.
Yet Eastern Orthodoxy is very rigid in art traditions. Where as you have Churches in Peru of Mary wearing Incan clothes and even the Biblical people being represented as different races in a single Church (like a church in Juarez having a white Jesus Christ yet all Mary statues are the nonwhite Lady of Guadalupe) as well as apparitions of Mary appearing as a black woman or an infant Jesus appearing as person from Prague..............
Eatern Orthodoxy demands all MAry icons to appear the same, all Jesus crucifixes with similar appearances, etc. Not only is the Orthodox Church's position is permanent about the racial appearance of Jesus in Church art, they even pretty much only allow one specific style of art. 2D art. Almost all entirely icon with a few glass stains and perhaps a sculpted stone work or two. But all are completely 2 Dimensional and created to show Jesus, Mary, and the Biblical figures looking like a Jewish Palestinians or Hebrew. Unlike Catholicism where you have paintings, marble statues, colored figurrines, and a whole hell of variety of art styles ina single church in addition to the diversification of Biblical figures to represent local population's cultures and ethnic demographs.
But somehow despite the reigid art approach, Eastern Orthodoxy is the Church that learned to appreciate vernacular mass centuries early on in Christian history while Catholicism was so harsh about a single language in mass and otehr sacred rites.. And one thats already been dead for centuries by the time of the Crusades, Latin......
So I ask why? Esp since so many people wrongly assume Eastern Orthodoxy is a racist denomination full of segregation or at least orthodoxy is full of ethnic strie in Churches. I seen people assume that they cannot go to a Serbian Orthodox Church if they are not Serbian because they think its a completely different denomination from Ukraine and based on bigotry whether you are Serbian or not sums up what people assume Orthodox Churches are like.
Despite what my grandparents believe about Latin being encessary for the Church's unity, I myself find it bizarre it took so long for local language to be used in mass considering how diverse Catholic art tradition is about different cultures and how Catholicism has a tradition of different nationalisies and ethnic groups attending a single parish even in very racist places like Australia.
Why did these trends happen?

2023.06.06 22:29 AndyD421 How is balancing child supervision going for you and your partner?
Dad of an 11 month old here. My wife and I are struggling HARD when it comes to balancing supervision of our kid. I feel like I’m contributing, and always willing to do more, but yet it always seems like I fall short.
I’m on vacation from work right now, and I’ve tried to take multi hour outings with our baby each day, on top of watching her at home in shifts as well. Wife’s job is freelance, so she does not have set hours.
How have you best managed watching your kids and kept everyone happy?

2023.06.06 22:29 renorhino83 [Spoiler] My problem with S2
Let me start by saying I still think this show is funny. I love how the cast interacts with each other.
But it just doesn't work as a story driven podcast anymore. Honestly if they just sat in a room together and recorded a conversation like My Brother My Brother and Me I would love it. But as a show supposed to be about them doing things, they just all try to do the funniest thing. And they do come up with some really funny things that make me bust out laughing. But inevitably the only way they get anywhere is because Anthony will just give them whatever they need to move ahead in the story when he has the tiniest way to get it to them like opening the portal to goof realm.
This week's episode made it really clear to me. In S1, it was hilarious when Darryl was off doing his own thing like in this episode when Matt decided he was talking to Hero in the other room. But now everyone does that same thing. S1 had all the dads unapologetically being themselves. They drove conflict because they all had ways to solve problems that only that dad would think of.
What do you guys think? Again, I don't hate this season but there's just something that doesn't work for me.

2023.06.06 22:29 zmchiban AVOID Vincent LaBarbera and LaBarbera Realty Express Property Management LLC (RELB) at all costs.
Five weeks ago, our small, eight-person building terminated Vincent LaBarbera and his company, Realty Express LaBarbera Property Management LLC (a/k/a RELB Property Management LLC), as property manager. He was careless in his duties, ignored urgent problems including flooding, and spent our HOA money without adequate explanation for how or why it was being spent. He even admitted that, rather than contracting with outside professionals (landscapers, locksmiths, maintenance staff, cleaners) to maintain our building, he instead sets up his own companies and sends handymen to do professional work with no contracts. This conflict of interest incentivizes him to spend HOA funds unnecessarily and without prior authorization or service contracts.
Despite several months' notice of termination and dozens of emails (including emails from Vincent acknowledging the end of his term as property manager), Vincent has refused to release $41,000 of our HOA funds. Put simply, he is holding ALL our funds hostage and has flatly refused to provide basic banking information, account numbers, and financial records for the past five weeks. He has provided no reason for this conduct, and we suspect it's simple retaliation for his termination, which he fought tooth and nail. This has caused our building all types of problems, including for our new property manager, who is trying desperately to cover our costs without a special assessment.
PLEASE whatever you do avoid Realty Express Property Management, RELB, and Vincent LaBarbera at all costs. Do not use him/them as a property manager, real estate broker, or for anything else. Since our building is new, the builder hired him as property manager before any of us moved in. If we could do it over again, we never would have engaged him or his company. Please do not make the same mistake.

2023.06.06 22:29 BMONCHMAP242C My mom has been letting my sister's bad ways go on for 15-17 years
(OK so here we go. So all these things happend at diffrent times so I'll add the ages me and my sister were when these happend so here we go)
-So my Mom has let my older sister be a brat for as long as I lived. Keep in mind my Mom said "she cares about me" which is a lie becuase when I was born my Mom told her I was now part of the family but my sister thought it was a good idea to ask my Mom "when is [year name]'s Mom picking her up?" and of cores when my Mother told her she was mad as hell
1)So the first bad thing my mom allowed was using me as her slave....YES I said it she did. When I was a little 3 year old my sister was 5. She found out I wanted to hang out so she made me do things like getting her milk, Givivng her and her friends the so called 'puppy eyes' That I could do when I was little and even made me wash her and her friends feet so that ment holding a hevy bowl of hot water. She did this for around 1-2 years. And of corse when I told her she told me I was being a good little sister by 'helping' her...I was not helping.
2) My sister used me starting fights with her to get me grounded for no reson...So this one gonna hit me hard becuase me and my Mom got in a fight about this a few weeks ago but this story is why I felt like talking about this. So me at the time was 5 so my sister would be 7 or 8, me and her were yelling when she hits me hard on my back! You may think I'm being a brat keep in mind I don't have alot of skin on my back so she hit my back bones HARD! and of course it hurt! so we start fighting and of coures my family ask whats going on and she blames it on me! so of course I get grounded for no reson left crying and getting yelled at by my father becuase I was trying to go to the bath room.
3)K so this one makes me really angry if you know me well you would know I was plaing on surprising my family that I was dating someone I even told my sister my plan and what dose she do SHE TELLS MY MOM! I told her a week later at my Dad's what she did and she said in the most brat like voice "oh oppps" and then gose back on her phone texting her bf who at the time was at work! I was really mad and I started crying after having a fight with my mom! I heard someone knocking on my door and when I told them to go away in anger I heared A VERY LOUD sigh coming from you guessed it MY SISTER! When my mom got home my Mother told me "She (my sister) tried putting in en effert." (So she never tried before!) I told my Mom what she ment by that when I told her somthing from the past she "I can't fix it becuase it was a long time ago" and when she tells me I call her name's which was from years ago it some how now matters???? I don't know what to say so after a figth AGAIN I texted my Mom that I was hurt after what she did and that I'm planing on moving out when I'm done high school or when I turn 18 or older. I don't know what to do now but I don't really care if me and my sisters got into fights now becuase shes a 17 year old brat who leaves there under wear and bras in the bathroom, takes all the toilet paper and steals my hair brush and makes fun of me for being a furry, being meowed at 24/7 at school, and that my bf was almost rapped. Worst sister ever.

2023.06.06 22:28 scooptywoops [method] 15 Day Digital Detox
For all those of you who are struggling to put your phone down. I have a program that I have been building for the last year that teaches people how to overcome phone addiction. I'd love to share it with anyone who wants it, completely free, no obligations. I've had the opportunity to test this program with a few groups of people and have had really good long term success! To sign up or learn more visit my website
www.level10lifecoach.com/detox Each day there is a small challenge designed to make a big difference over time. As you can see below this is not a "rip the band-aid off" method. My hope is to give you the tools you need while simultaneously slowly peeling back the band-aid.
The first group that I worked with is still averaging a more than 50% reduction in phone usage almost a year after completing the program.
Here's a preview of the program:
Day 1: What do you want and what it's costing you not to have it
Day 2: We talk about replacing your phone with other activities
Day 3: The role fear plays in spending less time on your phone
Day 4: We chat about how to be mindful around your phone usage
Day 5: We delete a social media app - the correct way
Day 6 : chemicals in your brain - leveraging knowledge to take empowered actions
Day 7: Sleep habits and your phone - leveraging knowledge to take empowered actions
Day 8: What does it mean to be happy?
Day 9: How to build better habits
Day 10: Delete a social media app - the correct way

Hey Family,
This will be my 3rd year at roo and I have a question on how many people can comfortably fit in one space based off your experience. The first year I went it was only me and my bestie and the second year we had like 5 car spaces.... This year a lot of us are flying in due to PTO issues and we have about 8 people and only 2 spots.... we have 2 tiny tents and a really big one.... Do you think we will be able to make the space comfy? or will we be crammed? I haven't been able to go to the farm the last two years and am thinking we will be okay but my best friend is thinking we need to rent a car in Nashville.
Let me know your thoughts!!!
TLDR: will 8 people in 2 car camping spots work?
