This is kind of a long story but let me preface this by saying I’m not really mad I’m more upset and confused the more I think about the situation.
I (17F) met this guy (18M) on an online game last July. I was playing the game alone because my two best friends (one of them the one in question) were busy working on school. It was honestly completely accidental requesting to join his party of two but once I did the party was pretty chill and eventually I got both their contact details outside the game. Now the guy in question, let’s call him Jackson, was kind of an asshole. Like he told me repeatedly that he was not a good person but I kinda just brushed it off as him being edgy and quirky. Eventually I introduced Jackson to both my best friends because we were hanging out all of the time and I wanted to hangout with them all together. The best friend in the title, we’ll call her Kaylee, was the one that hung out with me and Jackson the most. Early on Jackson had told me he thought he had feelings for Kaylee. I didn’t have any romantic feelings toward Jackson at this point but it was still kind of painful to hear.
You see Kaylee is like societies version of the perfect girl. Perfect body type, perfect attitude, perfect looks, the list goes on. She’s also the kind of girl who kind of acts different when it comes to guys, kind of ditzy and haha silly me I’m so stupid and dumb. Which a LOT of guys fall for. I grew up with Kaylee and while it was hard growing up with societies perfection right next to me, I love her to death and wouldn’t change that for the world. It didn’t help that Kaylee and my other best friend have always been closer to each other then to me, they’re both closer in age and older then me and Jackson.
Long story short eventually as the months go by I move on from feeling that way and me and Jackson hang out more alone, mainly because Kaylee has a different boy that she’s in a kind of relationship with. At this point in time she’s kind of blowing everyone off for this guy so we aren’t hanging out much. Me and Jackson get closer and at one point he starts flirting with me. At first I take it as a joke because we had talks about how we view one another and he, and I quote, said he saw me as “just a little guy”. Jackson is also a certified fuck boy so I wasn’t taking what he said too seriously. But then the flirting seems to get less silly and more.. idk, genuine? I was never entirely sure how I felt about Jackson but the way he acted around me made me feel..idk sounds kind of wrong but the attention was nice. To this day I still don’t know what I felt about him. Eventually the flirting turned into… more. It was kind of a friend with benefits situation, and we never talked about.. what we did outside of the time we did it. The first red flag he gave me was that he “didn’t want me talking about this” to either of my best friends. But honestly that’s not really his call to make so I obviously told Kaylee. This was my first experience with anything boy related so we kinda just squealed about it together. She was also going through something similar with the guy she was talking to so we basically just went back and forth talking about our experience.
Unbeknownst to me Jackson was apparently flirting with Kaylee, heavily, in private the whole time. And the only reason I know this is because my other best friend heard it from Kaylee and thought I should know. I know I said that me and Jackson never had any labels so he was free to do what he wanted but if you had seen the things he had said to me it would have been different. Im not here to debate if Jackson is an asshole, because he definitely is but the way my best friend handled it just isn’t sitting right with me.
I found out later on that when Jackson brought up his feelings to Kaylee (because apparently Jackson had still liked her after all this time and didn’t take the hint that Kaylee was literally with another guy), Kaylees reasoning for not doing it was because she “didn’t want to hurt me” not for any other reason. Just the fact that Kaylee never told me he was flirting with her behind my back the whole time and apparently she was flirting (she’s claims it was just a joke) back. meanwhile I’m telling her about me and Jackson’s relationship when we hang out. Idk it’s just making me upset. When I did finally find out what was going on I approached her about it and she said she didn’t want to hurt me. This wasn’t the first time she’s kept things from me because she thinks I’ll get hurt even tho I’ve told her repeatedly that I would much rather know.
Some other useful information you might want to know is that the guy Kaylee is talking to used to be my other best friends crush…
Idk it’s just hard cause I don’t think Kaylee is doing it on purpose but it still hurts. Both me and my other best friend agree that sometimes Kaylee is just a little too “friendly” when it comes to guys.
If you wanted to know what happened after that tho, Jackson basically ghosted me after Kaylee rejected him and then lied to me about why before he tried to gaslight me into think we weren’t talking anymore because of me. I called him out on it and called him a coward and a few other choice names. This all ended around December of last year, and then Jackson drunk called me in the beginning of March claiming that he made a huge mistake and that he loved me. I in return told him he was an asshole and that he really hurt me and made me forever compare myself to my best friend more then I already did.
This was a lot of story condensed into not that many words (comparatively at least to how much happened) so sorry if it doesn’t make a lot of sense.

Hi my job contract is ending in 3 months & I see no point in keeping my family in UAE. Have to close apartment whose 5 months are still left on contract. Went to my leasing company its a big name & told my job ended. He asked me to submit documents like visa cancellation which I have as my company was about to cancel my visa but I changed my status to Golden Visa & now my question is will the landlord company figure out that I still have labour contract active for 3 more months through my Emirates ID? Should I present my new Golden ID?

This happened so fast in the span of 48 hours and it really made me open my eyes at certain people I knew.
So for the really short context of what we were, was that we have('had' now I guess) a group of several university friends (we're all around age 20-26, gender doesn't matter here really). I'd love to create a relationship chart cuz it's kinda messy to explain but I'll try my best.
The parties involved are My bf and I (dating for 5 years++), my self proclaimed bestfriend, my bf's self proclaimed close friend, my bf's brother, a girl we hang out with, a pacifist that's the biggest floater I've ever met, and an innocent dude that just wanted things to die down.
There's a lot of back story and rants about my self proclaimed bestfriend but I'll cut it short. She doesn't have the best mental health and has a lot of negativity. We used to be quite close when they didn't let mental health define her. But after embracing therapy, she turned worse, way worse. She tried to search up symptoms of the possible mental health issues the simple test she took and applied as much as possible on herself, then used them as an excuse for everything she did. Every 2 sentence involved a mental health issue that she [thinks she] has. Certainly, she refuses to get actual mental health assessments because it's expensive, yet she's spent thousands per year to get anything aside for the assessment that takes several hundred. I've been enduring it, telling her about how I get affected by the negativity too. She has the tendency to place her Suicxxx attempts on us, and I got real sick of it. For several years, I still tried to talk to her, engage conversations with her, as long as it did not evolve into extreme negativity where I have to take responsibility of stopping her doing anything stupid. Because I knew that I was not enough, as she never listened to any of my advice anyways. Looking back, I was never exactly a friend to her.
Then, she got close to my bf because they became coworkers. She started treating my bf as a brother. But I personally cannot accept. Not because I was afraid she would take him away or something, it's that she was still introducing us as if we were close. When I say as a brother, I meant calling him the middle of the night because of mental breakdowns, telling him the times she's tried to k*ll herself and how he saved her, texting him for no reason (she never texts me, the 'bestfriend'), despite having a bf of her own, decides to choose my bf over her own. I find this absolutely inappropriate, and I've told her that. But she brushed it off as, owh you're just jealous, don't take away my 'family' from me (she has an awful relationship with her family). It's basically this thing called Transference. I'm not gonna dwell too much on it.
Okay so, finally going into the situation. My bf had a fight and I accidentally brought it to our group chat by sending the message to the wrong chat. My bf decided to elaborate on the fight. At that point, I've already left the group chat to deescalate the situation, since I never meant it to happen there. My bf left afterwards too. But the dude who wanted things to not be complicated added us back (poor dude). My self proclaimed bestfriend started to post 'what was needed to be said' in the group. On how everyone is having rough times and that we (mainly me) should control ourselves and get help (rereading it, they were basically dissing me). It was a long wall of text. Me being angry af, honestly replied 'TLDR' and left the group.
I was still angry at my bf, but as I was writing a long essay trying to tell him why I was angry, I realise that it was all anger on how my self proclaimed bestfriend, that just happened to be slightly related to the couple fight situation because of the group. It is then I realised, it's time to get out of the group, and finally cut things off, for my own mental health.
As I made my decision, it seemed like some people are pissed. My bf's self proclaimed close friend said that it was 2 issues: the fight, and the cut off. Apparently, this 'close friend', my 'bestfriend', girl we hang out with, these trio were actually discussing amongst themselves on what to reply, and decided to let my 'bestfriend' be the one to tell us 'what needs to be told'. Way to use a scapegoat. They've knowingly used her when they knew I had issues with her. This then clicked in my and bf's head, it explained why they're on her side, explained why he(close friend) thinks it's not fair for me to cut off 'bestfriend' as quote "it seems like you placed your previous hatred on her into the situation and now the group has to deal with it" aka he thinks I mixed up the situations together. Truthfully, I did not. I've apologised for the mistake I've made, and TLDR-ing ppl's worry. That's issue 1. This was the last straw and I made my decision to cut her off. That's another issue. There's no mixing.
Well for more context, our entire group is unhappy about 'bestfriend', we've said to talk to her about it, an intervention. But days, weeks, months passed and all they did was call my bf more and more, and no actions from the group at all. The entire group has asked the question, why is she even here, no one likes her. And I always have a guiltily say, it's because of me.
So what happened was that I was my bf's plus one, and she was mine. I placed hope on her getting better, so never cut her off. But as more and more gatherings and more and more questions of why she's even in our friend group throughout the years, these questionings also pushed me to consider if it was time to cut her out, so no one else needs to suffer because of my plus one.
Anyways, as I truthfully texted 'bestfriend' that I'm cutting them off, with reasons of 'never actually treating me as what they proclaimed' 'getting too close to my bf even after I've told them not to' 'spreading negativity unconsciously'. But told her that we can reconcile when she can finally get a hold of her mental health. She read it, called 'cloae friend' (no idea what they talked about), called my bf, and pleaded. She pleaded to my bf to not leave her. You read that right, she wasn't sad that she's losing me, she was sad that she's losing my boyfriend. She gave my boyfriend an ultimatum, he chooses me, or her. If he chooses me, she will cut him off because he will still be dating me. In the trios surprise, he chose me. So she cut him off.
Note that when I meant that she never texted me, it meant. She never texts me. She had the audacity to tell my bf that it was because "she would never reply". I've checked receipts, I have no idea what she's smoking but I have always, ALWAYS, replied. This made me wonder, what kind of misinformation is she spreadin in the echochamber.
Next day comes, she finally replied to me and said "I genuinely hate you" then blocked, running away from any hardships as usual. Anyways, my bf replied in the group as usual when she posted something. Because it wasn't my bf that cut her off, it was the other way around, so why couldn't he? He then gets a angry message from 'close friend', giving him another ultimatum, 1. Bear the consequences of quitting the group because he chose to cut off 'bestfriend'. 2. Not choose me. 3. Fix me and make everyone friends again. Well, my boyfriend chose the quit the group. In which, to be very honest, 'bestfriend' should have left the group or 'close friend' should have left if he couldn't stand it. My bf did nothing wrong lmao. You can also see, that 'close friend' got the information of my bf cutting her off instead of the other way around. So really, is it miscommunication, or misinformation being spread, or reading comprehension problems?
Well anyways, there's that. Below are rants about the double standard and big head scratching moments
So of course there are side pickings, the trio is on one side, and the rest on neutral, some on ours. None of us on our side are sure what's wrong with the trio for thinking the ultimatum is the way to go. But we did find that it's because they have family issues, so they thought of the group as a family. And they probably want the group to stay as it is. And behold, to them, yours truly ruined it. But for what 'close friend' said to me, it does not seem like he's ever seen me as a family, just, my bf's crazy gf that spread bad vibes to the group and never get help. Know that all I've sent to the group were memes and funny shit happening at work, and the last time he has personally talked to me was at the new year's party we had (yes, 5 months ago and during then I was positive af than ever). I don't know what bad vibes or not getting better he's talking about but doesn't he sound like he's "placed previous hatred on me into the situation"? There's tonnes of other double standard shit he's said to me and honestly, we all just wondered, what happened to this guy. He used to be a chill dude, thats better at adulting. Instead, he used his double faced salesman skills on us, thinking we wouldn't see through it. Guess the consequences of unemployment got to him. None of anything he said implied 'fix it with bestfriend so we can go back to normal'. Also, if u want to fix a family, you have them talk it out, not attack the person that finally couldn't take it anymore. Well, can't blame them, they don't know what a family is.
The codependency of the group got waaaaay toxic than we have ever imagined. And those 3 being in an echochamber will probably never realise it. 'Close friend' created their own group in the morning right after my bf left by the way, consisting of the trio, the floater, and my bf's brother. Yes, he made my bf quit the original group, and made another group.
We're damn pissed at the fact they didn't include 'dude' in. The reason they were pissed at me was because I made the decision of cutting someone out without consulting the rest of the group. Hmm, and they did the exact same thing to the dude.
The reason they didn't add the dude that just wanted things to die down, was cuz he asked if the ultimatum really is the best option. And quote the 'close friend' "dude could have shut his mouth like floater and the brother". We have no idea why the brother is in the group, but all he said was "well, both sides is kinda at fault" and bam, he's a part of them now.
Somehow this shows that they are so out of their mind, that they added my bf's brother into a rant group (unsure if this will be just a rant group or the finalised group for now) about his own brother and his brother's girlfriend. We theorise that it might be that the trios have horrid sibling relationships, so they thought my bf and brother would have too. It's just hilarious because 'close friend' plays DND with brother and my bf, he should know how close they are. Did they expect brother to not tell us this? Did they think brother hates me too?
'Close friend' legit said that he has a lot less to lose than my bf and I in this situation. Funny thing is, the group was created by my bf, he can do it on a whim, he can do it again, he doesn't need this group. On my side, I am an extreme introvert with dissociation problems (I'm getting it fixed, not because of this situation though, it's for my bf) that I never got close enough with anyone, aside from this 'bestfriend', but well, I can get a friend fast, I can lose them fast, dissociation at their best. I'm not sure why 'close friend' tried to one-up me on this, the one winning is whoever gained from this. He lost all respect we have on him, and he's stuck with a selfish suicidal that wouldn't a get professional diagnose for 5 years.
The only concern I have is when 'close friend' comes over for DND, I've decided to act as if nothing happened, since the boys (DND group) never interacted with me usually anyways. But if he throws me stink eyes or shades me in anyway, the fight's on. I'm not burning the bridge with him yet, only because of my bf, but no one can stop me if he taunts to burn the bridge down. The battleground? In his face, because he's a massive coward. (Okay this is rant about him now) he said that he has harsher things to say, but he doesn't say it. He said that just because he didn't say anything, doesn't mean he nothing to say. Then say it, coward. Until now, he has not said it. Until now, he's been throwing away his principles and being double standard. Until now, his arguments were from the echochamber of the trio. Where are your words, coward?
Truthfully, I just really want to get this out of my chest, and I thank Reddit for having everything. I'm not sure if I'll finally let this go. But this is a good try. For two days, it's been hectic for my bf and I. And it really.... Confused us to see our friends turned like this. And how the innocent 'dude' was just like the old man that keeps losing his cabbages for no reason in Avatar TLA.
Anyhow, issue has died down, my bf and I are closer than before. My mental health is noticeably better (disregarding the anger from the situation). We've seen the true colours of certain friends. We can still be friends with the other's in the group, just that the group chat is now abandoned. The sadness is mainly nostalgia. There are things that should stay as memories, and trying to pursue what is gone only brings stress and disappointment, so this really is the best. Overall, we'd say that we actually gained for losing those negative points in our lives that we never noticed/dealt with.

Visiting some of my close relatives. Some second cousins are also here. We stayed up chatting late till night and I heard some arranged marriage horror stories from them. Everything seems so good on their social media, never would've thought.
Cousin 1 : Husband and her have never said ily to one another in 4 years of marriage. She said 2-3 times, he never said it back so she stopped and he did not care. Do not have an emotional connection. Do not know much about each other in depth. Both don't ask one another about anything. Just going along w life. Still planning for kids under his family pressure. Made my heart sink.
Cousin 2 : she's a romantic, playful and was a cheerful person. Dude faked to like her during the setup. Married her for the money and looks.The dude is hyper practical, shuts her down anytime she says anything dreamy, stoic types, very non chalant. Never got her flowers in 2 yrs ( i wouldve d worded) their love languages dont match at all. She said everyday is a chore for her. She takes up extra work just to kill time.
Cousin 3 : my brother. Looking for rishtas. He liked a girl and she also showed interest. Went on a couple of dates. Very clearly told my brother that she's marrying him for his money. Dont expect love from her.. she'll do all the household work and will quit her job, something my brother was against. Asked him if they could get couple therapy ( ?? 🤡 before even dating??) he called it off.
Now I'm wondering and scared if I'm gonna end up with something loveless like this if I get an arranged marriage some day. I hope I don't. I'd rather be alone omg.

Crutic felt the realspace reasserted itself with a faint lurch and a rattle of the spaceframe, the darkness behind his eyelids peeled away just in time to witness the streaks of light coalescing into a field of stars. And after that...nothing. Outside of the angry red glow of the indicator lightings around him and the graphics of the instrument cluster before him, he might as well be witnessing a portal into an infinite abyss so dark that his eyes may as well have remained shut. It wasn’t unexpected, though: the brief mission overview had made it abundantly clear that where his flight element was needed was among the interstellar void. The nearest star was nearly three parsecs away and was only called a star as a tribute to its fiery past - its photosphere likely offered its last gimmer millions of years ago. But it never mattered on how much prep was given, it was never a comfortable feeling to know that something is out there in the consuming absence. It was a small solace then, when his sensors chirped to indicate that it had achieved what the Human eye could not and found something out there within seconds. Before the modulated tone of his flight lead even made it through the constant hissing of the life support airflow, Crutic had his hands around the control yoke to disengage his TIE from the Gozanti’s docking tube.
“Target identified as a Ghtroc 720, range three-seventy kicks, armed. Form up to intercept and dissuade.”
The brisk affirmation from himself and Mynock Two and Four was almost drowned out by the whine from the engine as the four Imperial fighters screamed away from their transport and aligned themselves in a rough quadrilateral formation towards the sensor blip. It was drifting, sublights inactive and transponder silent, all in a valiant effort to blend into the interstellar background. But without jammers to further obscure their presence or a cloak to hide it completely, they were simply a something in a sea of nothing. And the moment the occupants realized this and that the Empire was there to do something about it, the engine arrays that flanked either side of the light freighter flared to life.
”Unidentified Ghtroc 720, you are in a restricted sector, return to designated Region 12 volume or face the consequence.”
Despite his attempt at civility, Mynock One and everyone present knew that this wasn’t an accidental drift into the gap between Region 12 and the edge of the greater galaxy; it was merely the latest instance of another group of beings from within that thought that they had the stealth necessary to break the region-wide lockdown. And with no change to their vector, it appeared that this particular group has the will to do a little more resisting. Crutic can’t help but consider a brief flicker of irony in that the energy spent into presently futile evasive flying would be better applied to their hyperdrive to make it to their next jump. As it is, either option would result in the TIEs landing shots on them, but at least the latter would be more…inconvenient for him and his immediate comrades in the long term.
The last warning was issued as the four fighters closed the last hundred kicks and this time a response came through in the form of a pair of crimson bolts fizzling through the formation. And at the same instant, Crutic Jo’ran retreated into the crevasse in the back of his mind and RG-273-76 took his place.
Safeties off. Targeting computer rendered an approximation of the freighter’s saucer shape upon the display. Align it with the crosshair. Target lock shrilled. Squeeze the trigger. Shields rippled violently as green energies hammered home.
Not good enough.
Check surrounding for teammates within immediate maneuvering vectors. Opening between Mynock One and Four. They peeled off after they had done their own run. Good. Pour in speed to gain distance.
Sounds of laser cannons from behind. Dodge. Stabilize as the rain of bolts trailed behind his flight path, too slow. Perform a sharp banking turn to bring the freighter back in front. Check for alignment to target. Sensor flagged a new relevant information: steep power draw on the hyperdrive module.
“Target almost ready to jump,” he notified into the comms, a practiced motion with a hand to divert power from the engines to the laser cannons.
Trigger down. Shields flashed but held. Tough gutkurr of a target, could do with a bomber’s warhead right about now. No time to linger on what is not available, focus on what is available now. Time for another run. Shields ate another strafe-
Mynock Two reports shield failure as explosion flared directly ahead in the profound blackness, revealing the viewport’s spoked features for the first time. Apply maximum deflection of etheric rudder to avoid the blast, clench against the inertia. Beads of molten metal showered the fighter chassis, but nothing to prompt damage notification.
A little too close for comfort, will have to talk to Two later.
Mynock Four snarled his own displeasure and reported his intent to break off due to damage sustained on his starboard radiator array. No time to worry about him, as long as the target is not disabled. Loop high over target, reacquire lock. Send down pelting fire across the freighter’s dorsal power conduit. Something exploded and their portside sunlight array wavered.
New target. Engine endured a respectable volley before belching out a blast of unfocused ionized particles with most of its glowing innards, submitting the starship into an uncontrolled yaw.
A sudden garble of noises filled his helmet as he directed his focus to the starboard engines, and before his thumb had a chance to render that to equally inoperable slag, a stilted Galactic Basic superimposed itself on top of the audio intrusion.
“Stop! Imperials, stop! We surrender!”
Crutic found himself sucking in a lungful of the stale, cool air as he recognized the Aqualish language and its translator assisted intentions. The rest of the Mynock flight also shared this moment of realization as they broke off from their attack vectors. Well, most of them anyway. At some point Mynock Four became a barely visible trail of titanium and quadanium steel. No life signs. Dank farrik.
”Ghtroc 720, power down immediately and stand by for boarding.” Mynock One’s voice had been level, but there was no denying that those benign words were layered with vitriol that preemptively silenced any kind of protest the other party might want to say. After a few satisfied seconds, the seething hatred dissipated as he changed frequency to the Gozanti to confirm that the onboard boarding party was prepared for the task.
Not long later, the frequency switched back to local and started with a deep sigh that Crutic could practically hear the muscles unclench itself. ”Mynock Flight, systems check.”
“Mynock Two, all systems nominal.”
”Mynock Three, likewise,” Crutic said, examining the reading his flight systems were offering him. Though, in the back of his mind, he could virtually hear the choice words picked by the maintenance team about the surface defects that were received during his near-miss of the explosion. At least he can point the blame to Two this time.
“Good, perform one last sensor sweep before redocking with the Deliverance and meet up at the main hold for debrief.”
A pair of affirmations later, the trio flowed over the crippled freighter at maximum sensor sweep to detect any kind of trap or other possible hindrances for the Gozanti boarding party. They also made sure to fly as uncomfortably close to the freighter as realistically plausible. Although the occupants surely wouldn’t see them, they will make sure they can hear them as loud as their aural sensors are willing to emulate, and hope that the distinctive howl of the twin ion engines resonate deep within the instinctive part of their psyche. The scans turned up nothing more than some dozen beings crammed in its cargo hold, and with that, they pulled back to give a wide berth to the docking Gozanti before connecting with it themselves. What happened next was out of their hands, they have an after action report to perform. With a layer of grief in their hearts.

While the return to Marjora Space was a transit that took only a matter of minutes, the sublight transit from the system’s edge to the Decadence was long enough to complete the debrief to an educational amount of detail, clean up, and prepare for the early departure. Under normal circumstances, it would have been a month or so more until the patrol rotation brought them back to the star destroyer low in Majora Prime’s atmosphere, but the recent development had details to iron out. Such as the prisoners they now have board that needed to go through processing - and if they looked like the stormtroopers were rougher with them than necessary, Crutic had chosen not to comment - and registering the loss of a member and securing their replacement. All of that meant at least a few days of shore leave.
At least, what actually constitutes a “shore leave” for the Imperials. It was anybody’s guess on how well the collective bulkhead of owned and affiliated starships, bases, and outposts have achieved a semblance of civilian life where enlisted and officers alike could loosen their mask of professionalism and indulge in a slice of greater society beyond their duty to the Imperial preservation and continuation. It was never intended to interfere with the military aspects and readiness, to be sure, but being surrounded slightly-different-walls and training bouts that might have been less about fitness and more about unspoken exchange of credits sets the scene for much needed stimulation to distract from the monotony of service. It was also an open secret that the galaxy’s assortment of liquid courage and other vile substances that Crutic would begrudge someone for partaking had slipped past regulation and formed an elusive enterprise that based themselves in various need-to-know locations. And the less said about the “flecks of inspiration” fresh from the Sapius Corp mines the better.
That being said, not all non-standard marketplace have to be so despicable, there were also demands from the more respectable members of society: the market for local goods. Ranging from simply a more comfortable clothing that could be worn under uniforms to prevent chafing to non-regulation but cozy blankets to keep warm during power rationing wherever one get stationed, or - one that Crutic is currently partaking in - foods that is used to supplement the stubborn mess droid’s nutritionally balanced but nonetheless dreary meals. Today was some kind of fried fish topped with a grated and pickled Marjora native seafloor tuber, courtesy of “The Shuttle Pilot” in the Decadence’s forward hangar’s armory. It wasn’t ba’buir Eres-Cruzia’s squirmer tiingilar that viciously strikes at the nose, but it was enough of a comfort food to dull the edges to a rough day.
A sigh brought back the reprimanding words of FS-273-4 - then, Mynock One - to the forefront of his mind. Yes, HG-273-81 - Mynock Two - shouldn’t have shot the target when there were friendly within the field of fire, but it was Crutic that blocked Mynock Four’s view of his projected flight path that costed him the necessary reaction time to recognize the explosion that crippled his craft and subsequently made him easy pickings for the freighter’s turret. It was an honest mistake, if a costly one. A life and an entire TIE fighter, the former a loyal member of the Empire and the latter an entire craft worth of irreplaceable components, gone to deep space. It wasn’t an uncommon occasion in the attrition against time, but missed all the same. With a sharp breath and an exertion of will, he suppressed the emotional baggage and sank into another crumbly bite to focus on its fishy, floral flavors that accompanied the textureless slurry of carbs and fiber methodically dispensed upon his metal platter.
Unable to keep it idle for long, his mind suggested the possibility of stopping by the star destroyer’s training facility, its spacious quality an allure to contrast against the cramped confines of the Gozantis. The notion was immediately dashed by a mouse droid that weaved through the forest of legs and beckoned for his attention. And with it came the news that his immediate future would be occupied by a debatably better use of his time. Downing the last of the vitamin enriched baked cuboid with a glass of water, he dismissed the droid and deposited the tray onto the outgoing conveyor on his way out of the mess hall. Helmet replaced securely on his head, he tackled the maze-like corridors and the necessary turbolifts at a brisk jog that eventually deposited him in front of the comms substation. The naval troopers guarding the room eyed him briefly before offering a nod of recognition and returning their bored stare at the opposite wall, implicitly granting him access to the inner workings.
With no combat situations or priority broadcast in effect to demand its full use, the ship’s comms served as a node that services a miniscule bandwidth to the greater galactic network. To the Imperial personnel with investment to the wider galaxy, it was a treasured peephole. It was monitored, of course, but it was a small price to pay for the privilege to be in touch with family and friends. Such as the case for Crutic. An exchange of relevant information to the comms operator later, a small monitor on the wall buzzed to life and resolved into a grainy image of a familiar woman that warmed something deep within his being.
”Su’cuy, buyca’kov,” she greeted, the sarcasm in her voice somehow making it through the heavy warping and choppiness of signal loss.
Crutic paused in his process of unraveling the layers of his persona for a second to grimaced slightly from what he considered to be an uncultured greeting; although the jab at the end served as a reminder that his helmet was still on, an issue he fixed immediately in one smooth motion.
“Hey, Lythsia, are ba’buire home?”
His half-sister took a few seconds to receive the message before shaking her head, assuming that’s what the poorly captured head blur would suggest. ”No, ba’buir Allisyr is out of business meeting down south ba’buir Eres is in the shop. It’s restock day.”
“It’s a miracle that you are at home at all!” Crutic offered a smile he reserved for a few beings in the entire Galaxy. While he had wanted to at least exchange pleasantries to his grandparents after a few long months, he is more than glad to share the time with his sibling.
“Oh, I could be elsewhere too if that’s what you prefer.”
“No, you’ll do,” he paused for a few seconds before speaking again, andt this time, his voice was grim, “how’re things out there?”
Lythsia gave an expression that’s hard to read through both the video’s low resolution and just the mix of emotions that fought for dominance in mere seconds. “If you mean the rebels, they are still focusing their efforts at Coruscant. We haven't really heard much about their interaction with the Governor after the demand for disarmament.”
“So you're holding up?”
“The ‘New Republic’ doesn’t bother my sector much. Shame, I got a backlog of datacard I’m fully willing to let someone ‘liberate’.”
Crutic could feel his eyebrows furrowed slightly as he shot a glance at the comm operator, who didn’t seem to take much notice about the details of the conversation. Of course, he has no reason to suspect his sister of treacherous thoughts as she is an alumni of SAGEducation, but it never hurts to be cautious against misinterpretations.
“Lythisa…”
”I know, I know, I shouldn’t joke about these things. But honestly? I don't know how long it would hold out. The talking heads up top don’t give a gundark’s sheb about who taxes them at the end of the day. And our government is too worried about the lack of star destroyers to correct that.”
Crutic sighed and scratched at his hair, untangling a few helmet-induced knots along the way. It seems like that was a trend that would progressively get worse as the years went by. Not that he can do anything about it, he has an obligation here in Region 12, and it’s entirely up to the whims of Admiral Jaquinn - and Governor Ryehall above him - to see if they plan to do anything about the anarchy going on in the galaxy.
“Well, anything good happen since we last spoke?”
Lythisa thought for a long moment - or the video feed froze, hard to say - before she shrugged. ”Team Uviuy made it through the preliminary in Galactic Cup, there’s that.”
A light chuckle escaped his lips at the new topic. As far as good news goes, it was quite low bar but he could at least appreciate the effort to ease the tension. He chose to latch onto it. “Think they will make it to at least the Semi-Finals?”
“Only if Team Fondor gets disqualified.”
“So that’s a no.”
”Last time Uviuy even got close to the podium, the Unknown Regions was still being charted.”
Crutic offered a puzzled expression at what appeared to be a trivia, given that the subject referenced was self-defining. “It still is-”
”Exactly,” Lythsia face was smug.
The conversations continued amicably, delving onwards from sport recaps to a prod at Lythsia's quest for romance and the subsequent defense of her character by criticizing her now-former-partners despite him having never met them, which naturally lead her to remind him that he should be more worried about his own lack of engagements. And inevitably brought the focus back on his activities for the last few months that wasn't obscured by confidentiality.
But far too soon, a movement by the doorway signaled that his allotted time had ran out. The monitor blacked with his sister's parting words, leaving behind a pang of wistful homesickness to swirl in his mind, as it always tended to do after such a session. And as he has done before and will do in the coming times, he took a moment to regained his composure. A process where vulnerability abdicate its role to the facade that grew away from the tender care. One of arrogance, pride, and ruthlessness; but also one of conviction, determination, and intensity. One of an Imperial pilot. As the helmet consumed his head, his soul stilled and he stepped forth down the grey halls with renewed resolve.

So, with this campaign coming to an end, I guess I wanted to share a story from how it all started, I am the DM and this campaign was set in the Zelda universe, which is semi-important to things, and this was being ran in 3.5 with me being pretty lax on rules, just wanting to make sure the players had fun. The party was, Garo Sorcerer, Shiekah Artificer, Yiga Swordsage, Twili Cleric and then the Tiger. I will use their races or classes to refer to them, and the Tiger will be the Tiger, it is what we refer to the player as to this day when he comes up when recalling the start of the campaign.

Now as it started, he was SET on being like Link from Twilight Princess, but wanted to also be Ganondorf. Now I had work some ways to work around that. Made him a male gerudo from Termina who got sent to the main setting, and he was dead set on the whole animal thing, so I relented and offered him the Lycan racial template, he refused it and showed me the Weretiger, and stupidly high LA template that just wouldn't work, he'd be too powerful and then fall off mid game hard as those things tended to do since I'd be forcing level buy out. Spend a few days trying to help him make it work, offering other ways, flavoring things, pointing him in every direction I could that wasn't THIS. I knew what the other party members were bringing, a single Tome of Battle class, Swordsage, would out shine anything he really could bring since in the end, the only way I allowed the Weretiger template was with the class version of it, much to his dismay.

Something the players learned was, I work a lot, sometimes 50+ hours a week at the time, so I wasn't always around to answer their questions, but my personal friends, the Garo and the Yiga knew my general rulings and advice on things or could reach out to me. Now because of me working so often, the Tiger would ask people to hang out in a discord call with him and just talk, which I thought was great, meant the players might get along since the Twili and Shiekah were also friends outside of this. Now he comes to me and lets me know the Garo player had agreed to a joint back story, since they were both from Termina which was fine. He then explained that they had come to the agreement that they wanted it to be romantic, which was odd but fine with me. Myself and the Garo had been friends for a few years at this point and had just naturally started to date at one point before I started to run, even now we don't make it a big deal in games, but I didn't mind if players wanted to have romantic plots in the game if both parties were fine with it. Now here comes the first fun part, sorry it took so long! He wanted his character to be a 40+ year old man, the Garo had told me she wanted to play an oprhan raised by people from the milk bar, basically a tiddy bar in this setting as many old school brothels use to do which was fine, and wanted to be a young adult at 18. Now how the Tiger described the moment of love being "Love at first sight" was fine if he wasn't also cursed to be a Tiger for the last 10 years of his life or so. This would've meant he had to have seen the Garo when they were a child, I point this out and he then tries to force the Garo to play an older character but they refused. I later was talking to the Garo about this while we played games only to find out, they never agreed to this romantic back story, and had no input on the joint back story.

Now, once the Garo ship had set sail without him, the Tiger turned his eye to the Twili with the, oh so 'smooth' lines such as, "I can be your Link, and you can ride on my back" though the entire time in character he was a TIGER WHO COULDN'T TALK AS WERE HIS OWN WISHES. So he just did awkward cat things. Which made most of the other players not want to interact with him. Now the party goes into a fight that the Artificer was given time and money to prep for, just needed time in the fight. The Yiga goes off alone and 1v4s some monsters while the rest of the party struggles against 3 monsters. The Tiger proceeds to freak out, explaining how f'd they are. How the Yiga is setting things on fire just to stay alive when he's trying to control the fight by caging in monsters with fire to keep them from retreating to their allies. Playing smart in my opinion. And this is where it begins, his weird one sided rivalry with the Swordsage which he'd never manage to keep up with by nature of their two different builds.He begins to mention how his Cavalier in some other game could one shot everyone in his party and this party. No on really cares. But then during one loot rolling moments, the party gets a Scroll of Remove curse and use it. Tiger is a man, no one really cares, Tiger has a mental break down about losing his character, but now that he can talk, the party interacts with him a bit more, he then drops the never forgettable line of, "Hey, Twili, do you lay eggs?" And everyone loses it. Now at one point the party for one reason or another talks about their character's sexuality, Twili was AroAce, and the party for the most part thinking about agreed most of their characters were to some extent, Ace...except the Garo she was full on pansexual. The tiger now jumps on the boat, after trying to get his character into both female party member's pants, "Yeah I'm totally ace too! Just like you Twili!" which I just had to mute myself and die of laughter for, now the note so far, no Player has complained to me, so I thought they were all fine with this.

Sooner or later, the Tiger begins to argue with me over something, at this point due to back story reasons, the Garo had to give up their character and came in with a Kokiri. But as the Tiger continued to argue over and over, even out of the game while I was either at work or at home relaxing. I also had personal stuff I was going through that probably impacted my short temper here. I kicked the Tiger and then suddenly every player came out with horror stories of him and what he said during the calls he'd be in with them while I was away. Most of that is personal stuff for them so I wont be sharing it, but I told them all I wish that they told me earlier and I would've dealt with it all then.

TL;DR: Man wants to be different, plays an animal, gets some weird rival complex with another player, and wants to sleep and be romantic with every female character, no one complains about him till after he is kicked because his ego goes unchecked too long.

In light of recent of events I've been seeing a lot of people reacting to the most recent chapter and expressing a lot of hype and anticipation for the Imu as the series' big bad and final villain. And It was definitely a crazy chapter but I actually think Oda has made it abundantly clear that Imu will not be the final villain and that it will in fact be Marshall D. Teach himself.
It's always seemed pretty obvious to me and many others that Blackbeard was being set up as the end of series threat as him and Luffy are polar opposites and the same can be said for their respective crews. But with the introduction of Imu things got a little muddled. And I get it, Imu is the King of the World and the reason the One Piece verse is in the state it's in and defeating him would mean freeing the world and ending the 800 years of oppression. And this is all true, but Imu's character while being the world villain is not the MAIN villain of One Piece as it is the story of Monkey D. Luffy and his journey to becoming the greatest pirate in history and stepping into his role as the man to usher in the dawn of the new world. And the key antagonist in that Narrative is Blackbeard.
Oda's Original Plan
Let's start from the beginning, Oda originally intended for One Piece to be a story about Luffy fighting the Yonko and being wrapped up in about 5 years, but he created the Warlords and that greatly lengthened the serialization of the story. But if you notice, in this comment Oda NEVER says that his original plan for the story changed, just that the the story got longer. Blackbeard is undoubtedly Luffy's ultimate Pirate threat and as a Yonko who is set up to be the man to take down Shanks it makes sense to say that if Oda views the story of One Piece as a story about fighting the Yonko surely the best of them would be the main villain, no?

Some people won't really be convinced by this as a lot of you find Oda's statements to be highly dubious so I'm gonna piggyback of something I mentioned in the last paragraph, Shanks. Shanks is a pivotal character in One Piece as he is the one who inspired Luffy to become a pirate in the first place and has several connections to many big name pirates in the past and present. But unfortunately, Oda is setting him up to fall at the hand of Blackbeard.

This is one example, but without exception, every single volume cover Shanks has appeared on has also featured Blackbeard
Oda has been deliberate in setting up the connection between these two with Shanks getting his scar not from Mihawk or Kaido but Blackbeard. And we know in the world of One Piece are important and create a complex intrinsic bond between 2.
Blackbeard's true power
But Shanks doesn't simply have a grudge with Blackbeard over his wound, he views Blackbeard as a serious issue, going as to far as to warn Whitebeard as the true threat Blackbeard posed to not just him, but the whole world.
Shanks knew what was coming but no one listened.
Shanks even commented on Blackbeard not being in Wano as he had wrongly assumed Blackbeard would be drawn there. Meaning Shanks is on the move trying to intercept him. And i'd even go a bit further and theorize that the Pirate Shanks wanted to discuss with the Gorosei wasn't Luffy, but Blackbeard himself. The subject matter of the conversation is anyone's guess bit if i had to I'd say that he is trying to warn them in the same way he tried to warn Whitebeard.
Who is he talking about?
With all this in mind we take into account that Blackbeard and Shanks are in the running for the One Piece too, and interestingly both them just got a big leap from Kidd and Law, so even outside of what was posted they are on a collision course I just posted, and love him or hate him Blackbeard will prevail over Shanks and might even kill him. This would be a big blow to the verse, but most importantly it'd be a big blow to Luffy. Seeing his hero and friend be defeated by the same man who played a role in his brother's death and killed Whitebeard would make Luffy hate Blackbeard more than anyone.

Not yet, Not Yet
And on the subject of Marineford I always viewed Blackbeard as the main villain of that Saga. Not Akainu, not Magellan either but Blackbeard. Think about it, he started the Summit War, he freed the prisoners at Impel Down and ended up getting the biggest come up after the events of the war. Shocking the world and ending the era of Whitebeard. And I believe the post skip parallels the pre-skip, so if Blackbeard is the main villain at the midpoint, the end of the series he will be the villain again and finally get his comeuppance.
Now let's get into that, the idea of Luffy and Blackbeard as enemies. Now on the surface there's alot that puts these 2 against each other. The first chapter where Blackbeard is introduced perfectly sets up how Luffy and Blackbeard are very different but also similar, both are D's and it's clear that Blackbeard's crew is a preverse reflection of Luffy's. But let's go beneath the surface and we'll find that the 2 contrast each other more, especially now that we know the true nature of Luffy's fruit.

Luffy in his true form is the sun god Nika bathed in white. Teach however is a man who wields the power of darkness itself and is known and feared as BLACKbeard, Nika's power allows him to free himself completely and this concept is represented as the sun. Blackbeard's ability restricts and even robs other's of their abilities with the supreme gravity of his black holes. Blackholes are collpaed stars I might add, and What is the sun I ask you? A star.

The Stuff of Legends
Don't you guys think it's interesting that Blackbeard directly refers to Ace's ability as the sun? Not fire, flame, or even light but the SUN. I think this was Oda being cheeky and foreshadow the ultimate conflict. Another interesting piece of Info is Blackbeard's association with the moon, this factoid further proves that Blackbeard is the literal antithesis of Luffy on a molecular level.

Note that in Blackbeard's portrait as kid the moon hangs over him.
Oda has put a lot of stock into making Blackbeard the perfect counter for Luffy, having him built in the story since Drum Island but the subject of Imu might throw a wrench into all this to the uninitiated. But the opposite is true. Imu is the King fo the world, the shadow ruler who reigns above all, and that makes him Blackbeard's number one enemy, even beyond Luffy. In terms of goals anyway.
The idea that Luffy fights Blackbeard at Raftel and finds the One Piece starting the final war never made sense to me because there is now ay Oda is going to eliminate Blackbeard from the story have him miss the throne war.
People might not realize this, But Blackbeard is a D as well, and he will have a role to play in the events surrounding the end of the story. And on the subject of the D, Let's talk about Xebec and Blackbeard's true ambition.

The Strongest
Blackbeard's predecessor
Rocks D Xebec had the ambition to be the King of the world and was a force so powerful that the marines, pirates and the celestial dragons had to work together to best him. This is relevant to Blackbeard be he is most likely inheriting Xebecs will as there are several connections between the 2 pirates. One Blackbeard has made his new base of operations Hachinosu, the former stronghold of Xebec and his ship is even known as the "Saber of Xebec." This makes me think that he is carrying the will of Xebec and is essentially his 2nd coming and will be much worse.
We recently learned that Blackbeard wants to be King, so imagine when knowledge that of Imu's existence is made public, he will WANT what Xebec wanted and sit upon the empty throne. Only thing is he'll come a lot closer than Rocks ever did.

Note that Blackbeard's hobby is Archaeology. Meaning he has a desire to learn the secrets of the world.
Blackbeard is ignorant to alot right now, but when he learns the truth he will be inflamed as we see multiple times through the story new information has caused Blackbeard to change his trajectory and let his ambition run wild.
The 3 who have Imu's attention
Factoring in Blackbeard's desire to sit at the top, Imu himself has shown an express interest in Blackbeard as we see that off the mutilated wanted posters he had in his garden, Blackbeard was among them. Not Dragon, Not Law, Not Kaido, Not Big Mom, BUT BLACKBEARD. Imu sees him and Luffy as his principal threats alongside a literal ancient weapon. So the people thinking Blackbeard a guy who has ambition to take Imu's spot and is actually living rent free in his head will be defeated BEFORE the final war you're kidding yourself.
No, Blackbeard and Luffy will both participate and BOTH will play a hand in Imu's defeat. Not team up, but their actions will effect and help each other inadvertently as they always have. Imu is scared of the D and is grateful that they don't know the true meaning of their birthright, but like Law said the D shall cause a storm. Luffy will play the biggest part but the other D's are also guaranteed to have their own roles in the displacement of the old world order.
Imu will fall and the dawn will be ushered in, but like the saying goes the night is always darkest before the dawn. Luffy will have to settle things with Blackbeard once and for all to stop him from ushering in a new age of darkness and finally prove that Teach was in fact not the man Roger was waiting for.

There's many more things I could add or touch upon from the story and outside of it that shows Oda's intentions for Blackbeard's character but I think i've made my point.

I had only been around maybe a few months, working as a temp for my hopefully new boss.
He's a good guy, tries to do his best in spite of all the trouble that seems to find him, and generally, he does a lot to keep the city safe.
He goes by 'Nocturne', and no, I don't know his civilian identity, nor does he know mine. It's better that way.
I perform a primary support role for him, leveraging my powers to add some versatility in his struggles against superpowered crime.
For a Powerless, he's pretty fucking strong.
Wait, fuck, I mean 'Differently Powered Individual', that's the corporate term for it.
He doesn't deal with nonsense, when he captures a villain, he makes sure they don't come back. He doesn't kill them, just directs them to his therapist and tells them he's able to keep a secret.
When I'm not out with him fighting supervillains, I'm usually around the base, doing repairs to his technology, cleaning off blood, vomit, and the occasional mutagenic goo from his spare uniforms.
That's what he calls them, uniforms. Not costumes, not Hero Suits, they're his work uniform, and he'll be damned if people say otherwise.
So imagine my surprise when, during a deep clean, I found something odd.
It was the costume of resident nutjob and shock jockey Galvin. Literally, that's his name. I took it out and looked it over.
That's when I saw others, all of them from past villains, like Mutamex, who actually mutated him into a fish hybrid that required a lot of genetic therapy to reverse, or The Victorian, whose entire MO was trying to destroy modern technology and reset society to his preferred temporal state.
Last I heard, he'd been thrown into the past, and had left a letter thanking Nocturne for helping him when nobody could.
I also saw The Crocodilian's costume, and found it weird that it was actually a costume.
The Crocodilian was a weird one, he was constantly asking for help, but he'd go on rampages like nobody's business.
It occurred to me that these were all villains he'd defeated, people who had given up their plans entirely, or had been neutralized in spite of Nocturne's efforts.
Well, Nocturne was out for a few days, some joint operation that was too dangerous for support to tag along in, and you never really get a chance to have some fun.
So, I tried the costumes on.
Galvin's had some standard electricity enhancements in it, which boosted his already present shock jockey loadout.
The Victorian's was just an old, stuffy suit, and Mutamex's was better left alone, so they went back in.
One of the costumes had belonged to Tyrant, whose entire thing was brainwashing and mind control, and wearing the costume, I could tell those powers were enhancements, and I put it back before I got tempted to use them.
The Crocodilian's, however, was actually just a lizard suit, a harness, arm and leg bands, and a collar. It had always seemed to lifelike on TV, so naturally I put it on.
Or at least, I tried to. There was no zipper and no apparent way to put it on. It was only after puzzling it out that I realized the mouth was the entrance.
One quick tug later, and a widely distended opening later, I was actually comfortably slipping it on, my feet settling snugly, my hands finding the right fingers to fill, even slipping the head over mine was simple. I moved around in it, noting that it was actually pretty hard, that I had to kind of hunch over and walk on my toes.
In fact, it was surprisingly more comfortable like that. There were enhancements, like something to make the claws capable of piercing stone and using that to climb, being able to move around on all fours quickly, being able to whip my tail and wrap it around things-
Wait, tail?
I looked at my tail, which curled up as I looked at it. I grabbed my head and pulled, but it stayed on. I hurried to the bathroom and looked in the mirror. I opened my mouth, expecting to see my face, but instead I saw a crocodilian mouth.
I looked at my hands, realizing I was registering them as being normal for me, and I was very quickly losing all sense of who I used to be.
I called Nocturne.
"What?" He asked.
"I, uh, have a situation here." I said.
"What is it?"
"Short version. I put on The Crocodilian's costume and am currently experiencing rapid loss of identity."
There was a pause, followed by, "Alright, stay on the line. Just keep talking to me."
"Okay. Do you know what is happening? Do you know why this is happening?"
"That costume is a quantum superimposition matrix, at least, that's what the lab boys say it is. It was something developed with the intention of creating Heroes out of DPIs, but it got scrapped early on. That suit is the only surviving one we know about."
"Alright."
"Basically, the biggest issue with it is that it overwrites your existence, putting you a step outside of time while it retroactively changes who you used to be, until you were always The Crocodilian."
I nodded. "What happens if it finishes?" I asked.
"Well, that's the fun part. You stop existing, replaced by a version of you that was always this. You're aware of what you were before, you're aware that an entire life you lived has been replaced, and reversing it requires some time travel shenanigans."
I nodded. "So, what's the plan?" I asked.
"That depends on you. If you end up liking what you're becoming, you can opt to simply continue living like that. Otherwise, you can let people know what's going on and we can undo the superimposition."
Now that I understood what was happening, I wasn't as freaked out about it. I knew that my choices remained largely the same, and I was getting the sense that I was simply going to be born this way.
"Thank you." I said.
"Don't start thanking me yet." He said.
"No, I'm making the choice now that I'm fine with it."
"Good, as long as you're fine. That said, you will be telling me when I get back, because I will forget. Nocturne out."
I took a deep breath and stood up, and as the change completed, I couldn't help but feel glad that I'd done something so recklessly stupid.
Even moreso, just my existence alone meant more had been created, and a part of me wanted to see how many more would be created if other people got their hands on one.

I never forgot that there had been a point where I wasn't the person I am now.
I still had the same powers, still had the same job, the difference was that I was created in a lab, rather than born.
The scientists were surprised, of course. They knew my existence meant the suit they had made had been used, and any use of it beyond that simply never happened. Nocturne fought a different crocodilian villain, someone who had deliberately mutated themselves. I learned this because I did as he asked and told him what I had done.
He wasn't happy that I'd done something so recklessly stupid, those suits were kept there specifically because nobody would ever look there, and that my actions technically counted as a containment breach since it directly led to more of the suits being made.
I did check on the people who had been my parents, their son looked like I had, but he wasn't the same, didn't have the powers I did, was straight up a DPI.
I continued working with Nocturne, he was a good mentor, a good boss, and even though that desire to see others become like me itched like nobody's business, I kept it contained, at least, until I couldn't hold back anymore.
I started a small meme, comparing Nocturne to a werewolf. Only goes out at night, never seems to be hurt for long, comparing his usual catchphrase to how they apparently howl at the full moon.
I even managed to find a video of him doing that under a full moon.
It started out slowly, mostly people cracking jokes about it being the weirdest, most random thing ever. And because it was weird, it was noticed, being shared and eventually finding its way to the Hero's Association, where it instantly became a common joke.
Nocturne didn't like it, but he kept a stoic front on it.
I brought it up once, not directly comparing him to a wolf, but asking him what he thought about it.
"I think it's a waste of everyone's time." He said dourly. "I can't think of a single reason anyone would compare me to a bloodthirsty monster."
"I don't know." I said. "Wolves are considered loyal creatures, and it's fairly popular to subvert the whole 'werewolves are evil monsters' thing." I gave a short laugh. "Besides, I think if anyone were capable of resisting a curse, it would be you."
I proceeded to tease him a little about it, but spinning my comparisons in a more favorable light, getting him to give the merest fraction of a smile before he began leaning into it.
First, it started with him at least saying that people were going to have their fun no matter what it was, and this was just the meme of the month, then going along with it when people directly mentioned it to him.
When it was time for the yearly costume review, it was suggested that he lean into it more, that there were some designs that could be added without compromising Nocturne's rigid insistence on his uniform remaining the same.
It was the only time he agreed to a change, but remained adamant that he had final say on the design and that he would personally work alongside the people working on it just to see that it was done correctly.
It felt satisfying, seeing how people reacted to this, some saying they finally got Nocturne to change up his suit and making it more badass, others saying they liked how he just went with it.
He seemed satisfied with how it all turned out, which is why I chose to bring up the QSMs.
"I'm surprised you went along with the whole wolf thing." I said.
"It grew on me." He replied. "It helps that the villains are even more frightened of me."
"Very much a benefit."
"Get me the laser attachment?" He asked.
I climbed up the stone wall and got the attachment from a high shelf. I gave a short laugh. "Before I put on the QSM, I could have never done that." I remarked. "Life's been a lot better since then."
"Yes, that time you recklessly put on villain suits not even thinking of the effect they could have on you."
"True, it was a stupidly reckless thing to do. But it worked out in the end." I paused. "The lab that created it, created me, made some others, they've got them in holding, so nobody uses them carelessly."
He looked at me. "Why bring that up?" He asked.
"Oh, sorry. Forget I said anything."
"No, I want to know why you'd share information like that." He continued.
"It's not classified, if that's your concern." I said. "In fact, the lab wanted me to advertise them, but the Association vetoed that hard."
He nodded, eyes still narrowed. I didn't bring it up again, pushing it would have made him even more suspicious.
I knew he was investigating them during his patrols, checking for anything illegal, but finding nothing wrong. So when he asked me about them, I simply told him that they were in storage behind heavy security, and that the only way one of those was getting out was if a Hero specifically requested it. "As I recall, the suits are of a tiger and a wolf, nothing too extravagant."
The way he breathed in, that slight gasp of having understood something, told me that he had finally taken the bait.
I was with him, when the lab let him trial the suit, seeing the way he smiled, as he touched his fur and moved around, indicated to me that he was enjoying himself, that he was going to keep it. As my memories shifted, changing him from just my employer to my brother, time shifting to accommodate the company starting earlier, how the number of us jumped from one to thirty, I came to a realization, one that shook me, yet nonetheless made me smile.
I had just successfully finished my first plan as a villain, and I realized I liked how it felt.
I wondered what would happen if I could convince the entire city to join us.

Good evening, u/redco_moderncallout. I am going to put this out there first: This is a GOOD update, though many people will disagree because of the new business model with Shanix and in-app purchases, and the new crate system. The transition from Apple Arcade to App Store immediately opens up the doors for more people to play, but the game is still exclusive to Apple devices, which is a shame and will hopefully expand even further soon so that Android and other phone users can join us. The transition was hard on the game though, and it seems less optimized now. Before we get into that, let's first list some pros and cons of the new update:
Pros:
The new cards - Hands down the best part of the update, just like any other update.
• Galvatron opens up the possibilities for the addition of other Unicron minions such as Scourge and Cyclonus. He operates interestingly, approaching a structure while firing at any units in his path, transforming into a Fusion Beam Turret cannon that chips away a structure's health. I wish the beam of Galvatron's cannon mode built up damage over time just like the Fusion Beam Turret and damaged any units in its trajectory as well.
• Blackarachnia seems more practical on paper than in game, stunning 3 units at once but not doing much else. However, it is her appearance that is more interesting, notably the fact that her design is inspired by Animated Blackarachnia. Does this mean we might get more characters from Transformers: Animated in the future? Does this mean we might get Lugnut from Animated as a proper Mega Knight from Clash Royale (Optimal Optimus does not count), like proposed before? Does this mean we might see Blitzwing with three modes (and personalities), or Bulkhead added to this game? The possibilities are endless. But for Blackarachnia, I would consider lowering her Energon cost to 3 from 4.
• Jetfire is an interesting concept and was my most hyped card to see added to this game, but unfortunately, he does not do much. He's pretty squishy, doesn't deal any damage (no rocket or laser attacks), and deploys squishy Autobot Elite Infantry that I fail to see how elite it is compared to regular Auobot Infantry. I would have loved to see some kind of Stun attack added to the electrical gauntlets the Autobot Elite Infantry units wear, which would immediately make the card better. However, his 5 Energon cost and ability to deploy units from anywhere in the Arena actually makes him a viable card.
• Rhinox is exciting to see added to this game, especially considering how much I love his design in Rise of the Beasts. For 5 Energon, he is basically a better version of Bumblebee, but after all the running and smashing, his regular attack seems slow and underwhelming. I think Rhinox should have a ranged and a melee attack for his Chainguns. After smashing into a structure, instead of shooting at it, Rhinox would drill like Bonecrusher using his Chainguns. Once the structure is destroyed, Rhinox would use his Chainguns to shoot from a range of 4 or 5 at any threats or any other structures in range. Rhinox would again switch to his drilling melee attack if a melee-based enemy unit would run up to him.
The new interface - It is obvious that the new interface is designed with the idea of adding more content in future updates, which is always a win. The current white frame could be customized into an orange or red Autobot version, a purple or black Decepticon version, an Earth/human version (inspired by the Terran interface from StarCraft), or a green Quintesson version, and so on. The menu is different and yet easy to navigate. More options could be added to the main menu, like more proposed game modes and Battle Log. The new leaderboard system only took a minute to adjust to. The only negative is the 3 crate slots, but that is coming up, believe it. No other complaints in this department.
All other new content - It's also nice to see the additions of a new Earth City arena, a new banger Music track (is the title 5KYL1N3 supposed to be a reference to Sky Lynx?), new Emotes, etc. The new Shanix currency is interesting. The graphics options in the Settings seem to be working properly now (hint: Turn your fps from 30 to 60, it will make the gameplay much smoother). There’s not much else to say, new content is always good.
Cons:
I understand crate hoarding was bound to be nerfed, but to only 3 crate slots? That is simply not enough. And players have to unlock each crate individually, with a Common one taking 3 HOURS to open, and a Mega one taking 15 HOURS to open? Most players probably do what I do and play until they win 5 games a day, at which point they stop for the day. AT LEAST increase the total number of crate slots from 3 to 5 and make it an option to start opening ALL crates at once, with their respective timers, instead of one at a time. The way crates are implemented right now is hurting both new players and returning players who have not maxed out before the transition by setting boundaries that weren’t there before, and that is not good for the game. Add more crate slots and implement simultaneous crate opening or bring crate hoarding back.
No balance changes - Not a single card was reworked in this update, and I don't know how to feel about that. On one hand, I'm glad my deck will remain the same with no necessary modifications. On the other, the stale Chaser meta remains for us to continue suffering through.
Connection issues: I NEVER had this game crash on me before, but just today, after playing for 30 minutes, the game crashed 3 times, all 3 resulting in defeats, tanking my ranking.
Optimization issues: This game is harder on my battery now. I play on low graphics settings with 30 fps. Before the transition, one game would cost 1% of battery life. Playing three games took me down from fully charged at 100% down to 93%. That doesn’t seem like a lot, but the game wasn’t like this, which made it playable for hours. Now it overheats the phone, which leads to lagging and crashes. There are also weird visual bugs that happen whenever a unit is deployed. A Chaser plays an explosion animation but doesn't actually explode when deployed, Autobot Infantry explode like they die but don't actually die when deployed, Wheeljack's Graviton Grenade floats above his head when first deployed, weird bugs like that which didn't exist before the update.
Sudden lack of indicators: Drop Squad and Neutron Bomb now have no indicators of where they are going to drop. This is a big deal especially for Drop Squad, because if you have your volume off, you will not see a Drop Squad approaching until they are on top of your turret, beating the scrap out of it. Return the indicators.
Also, it seems like there were a bunch of "ghost" nerfs and buffs to cards that weren't announced in the Patch Notes. For example, Prowl's rockets sometimes do not deal knockback damage (happened to me twice after the update), Drop Squad does not have an indicator of where the Autobot Infantry units will land now, which causes major confusion and does not allow for immediate countering, and Chasers appear to deal more knockback now (for example, the Sharkticons scatter more on hit now). There may be more I have not encountered yet. I don't know if these are just glitches or not, but the Drop Squad is now OP because of the lack of indicators. I remember this was an issue in the first version of the game, and wonder if Red Games Co. made the same mistake two years later when re-releasing the game.
There is also a misspelling in the Shop in the ORE-13 section. The titles go “Mountain of ORE-13”, “Mouthful of ORE-13”, and “Mountain of ORE-13”, but they don’t match their respective pictures, the first one showing a mouthful, the second showing a truckload, and the third showing a mountain. That’s an issue that is easy to fix.
There are other issues I have not encountered but am sure others have. My biggest complaint is how long it took to deliver this update. It has been 5 months since the January update when Prowl and the Battlechargers were added. 5 months later, and the Battlechargers still cost 5 Energon and have their massive alt modes. With time leaps like this, it’s almost impossible to actually fix this game and implement any changes to fix broken cards and make older cards useful again. Not every update needs a ton of new content to be added, sometimes we just need a balance patch to literally “patch” some things up. People have been complaining about the Chasers for almost a year now, why haven’t they been nerfed yet? Why is Blurr still 4 Energon? Why is Airazor still useless? It’s subtle things like this that ruin the game more than game-breaking glitches do. I told u/picopede a long time ago that the best way to update this game would be to publish small, frequent updates that would always spice things up. New cards would continue to be added, but it feels like with every new content update, the game itself is getting worse. Focus on fixing the game before adding anything new and do it quickly before the game dies.
In the end, what I'm getting out of all of this is that the transition from Apple Arcade to regular App Store was hard on the game and the community. It was definitely worth it, but, as expected, there is a lot of adapting that needs to happen on the players’ side and a lot of work/fixing that needs to happen on Red’s part. There are major game-breaking issues present in the game right now that prevent me from recommending it to anyone, and the new monetization strategy is insulting. Please consider implementing the changes proposed in this post, especially when it comes to crates and progression.

Lately, I feel like I’m not gonna amount to anything. No hope or anything. I spent the past hour trying to cry but I genuinely couldn’t. Genuinely even the people who usually keep me happy and stable aren’t even making me feel anything. I don’t want to open out about it, because I hate having the attention on my emotions. I hate attention that way. Ironic because I do theater. I been working on myself and year is almost done. I feel useless. I just don’t feel anything. It’s not like I want to end everything, I just feel like nothing would change if I was gone. It’s not fully I want to die but if I was hit by a car, I’d hope to wake up from a coma of 5 years. Maybe I’d forget everything, then everyone would care and I wouldn’t understand. I wouldn’t know a damn thing, I’d be at peace without anything. It’s crazy to imagine since I was 5, I’ve wanted to run away. I had a plan and everything. I’d want to move to a place without anything to my name. I want to run for miles and never look back. I feel like shit saying that. Like there’s a feeling in the back of my neck, asking me why I’m even saying this. The truth is that I don’t want anything, I don’t feel anything. I don’t know what’s wrong with me. I never feel like this. I’m constantly positive and in a good mood. Why did I suddenly shift? I’m so tired. I feel tired. I feel like people don’t care. I don’t want to tell anyone because once, I do; nobody will let go of it. Suddenly they’ll go “Oh, same! I’m depressed too! We’re all in the same boat! The school year is ending! Make it through it, we all have problems. We’ll make it through it.” I’d agree then I’d never mention it again. This feeling will go away and I’ll make it to summer. I don’t want to wake up in the morning, I wish I’d wake up in a body that different than mine. I wish I had a different life where I wasn’t handed these positions of power. It was definitely worth it, but, as expected, there is a lot of adapting that needs to happen on the players’ side and a lot of work/fixing that needs to happen on Red’s part. There are major game-breaking issues present in the game right now that prevent me from recommending it to anyone, and the new monetization strategy is insulting. Please consider implementing the changes proposed in this post, especially when it comes to crates and progression.

I made the mistake of driving to London to Manchester late evening to avoid traffic.
I was wrong. The M3 had roadworks, a bit on the A34 too. Once I neared Birmingham I counted no more than 6 sets of roadworks, many lane closures (of which lanes were in fact, not closed off), hugely variable speed limits. In fact the speed limits were so variable I wasn’t even sure what the limit was. In one section the temporary sign said 50 but the overhead gantry said 60 then the next gantry was blank then the next one says national then you get all confused on how fast you are supposed to be going.
After 5 hours I ended up stopping off at a hotel. Back on the road again this morning. I’ve been driving for 15 years and go North to South a twice a year or so and do not remember ever having a free run!
This country seems to love never ending roadworks!

Currently, the text input fields in Flutter do not wrap their input correctly. Instead of breaking a word in the middle and wrapping the remainder to the next line, Flutter is breaking the string at the word boundary closest to the end of the line.

Does anyone have any idea how to fix this?

I’m fortunate to say I’ve been in remission for nearly 4 years, on methotrexate with humira, with only v mild occasional joint pain that eases with nsaid. Insurance stopped humira coverage to use amjevita instead and have been in a gradually worsening flare since about day 5 after first injection, so for about a month. First prednisone rx since 2017, reinvested in compression gloves, look forward daily to hot water soak for hands. I’m bummed and feel like the progress on humira is just completely in the toilet. My insurance prefers to start (or backup or whatever the word for patients not at the beginning of treatment) on remicade. Just venting I guess.

On the 1st of July this year, we will be releasing the prologue for PCVR. I would like you to immerse yourselves with me in the story we are crafting, an adventure that will engross players worldwide during their gameplay in "The Riese Project".
If you haven't heard about the Riese complex, let me shed some light on its history. It is one of the most mysterious and largest projects constructed by the Third Reich during World War II in the Owl Mountains.
The complex is a network of underground cities dug into some of the hardest rocks in the world - gneiss rocks. Additionally, these areas are rich in rare elements such as uranium.
To this day, no one knows its intended purpose. Was it supposed to be Hitler's main headquarters, an ammunition depot, or were the Germans working on some super-secret weapon there? Virtually no documents have survived, and the mysteriousness of this facility is further emphasized by the fact that after the war, there were special units and secret agents in the Owl Mountains guarding something. But what exactly?
We are creating a game based on the history of this place. An ambitious and challenging game in which the player will have to use their head and intellect to put all puzzle pieces together to uncover the secret we discovered. It's a mix of escape room, Indiana Jones, and Uncharted. Lots of puzzles, but not obvious ones. We want to prepare the gameplay to such an extent that players get frustrated, take off their glasses and say: "I won't play this," but when they go to work or school, they will constantly think about how to solve a given puzzle and move forward.
In the game's prologue, which offers 3 to 5 hours of VR gameplay, we embody the character of Anna. We are thrown in at the deep end, right in the middle of the plot. From the start, the player must be very observant to find out: who they are, what they're doing here, what Anna is looking for, what she has found already, and what she might find next. And how to find out everything about our character and find your bearings in the middle of the story? We have prepared a real phone in the game with a full operating system. You have to listen to her hints but also "dig through" her phone where her messages, notes, photos, voice recordings are stored. The phone itself has many different additional features, including a camera needed to take photos in the game to save clues we find. Clues are hidden everywhere. This is just one of many "goodies" we are preparing for players.
In the full version of the game, we do not embody any character. We are writing the script so that everyone who puts on the glasses becomes the main character, so that they experience the adventure, the mystery, and can fully immerse themselves in it. We will also be shifting between two times - the present and World War II. At the moment, we have outlines for 40 chapters, which we will be developing.
Interestingly, the player's main base is a real location. It's the building "Szyprówka Chata pod Sową", which stands in Sokolec, near the Riese complex. As a curiosity, I'll tell you that before we started working on the game, the entire team actually stayed in this building and toured the Riese complex for three days. And we have transferred this building 1:1 into our game. The player will be able to physically travel to this place and see that this building truly exists. Of course, we are also scanning locations from the Riese complex. We're blending reality with fiction while paying attention to every detail.
We are creating the game in the UE5 engine. We are proud of what we have achieved, perhaps as the first in the world. Last month, we implemented technological solutions to VR like Lumen and Nanite - fully optimized. The graphic design and the story itself will ensure that players will delve into the world of The Riese Project.

I had a vent typed out but ended up scratching. He claims he suddenly sobered up (I mean.. I guess he was tapering down? but mostly still the usual 5 drinks a day until maybe yesterday).... and he doesn't want me because I'm negative and toxic. Now I can see.. where he gets that. I have to believe this relationship has not brought out the best in me. I was considering leaving this summer. He did cut back this year but it was still problematic... God damn it. It was always this weird, can't get quite emotionally vulnerable and only would talk endlessly at me about work stuff etc... or other details...so many details that are now useless. We were sexless too.... and deep down I wanted more :( I'm hurt as hell but when I think about it even for just an hour now it's like. I hope he goes through with getting his stuff tomorrow as I can't afford any back and forth because I have a kid. He sounded robotic yet sure though. Ouch. God we had some really good times.. but I regret not breaking up with him earlier on like I almost did once. 3 and a half years together and he would always say he loves me and my daughter wth. But would hint that maybe we should be friends lately. Sorry for the vent guys. I'm glad I only have a half day tomorrow at work. It sucks how alone I'll be. Telling my parents at least. I'll.. figure it out. I'm broken for my daughter. (her bio dad is not around, too 💔) But I have to believe we will be okay
