The can lights have been retrofitted with these recessed Halo LED lights.
There is a warning about not sealing the the metal housing on the cans, but the cans were installed in the early 90s and designed for incandescent bulbs.

I've been working in this (sort of) start up business for less than a year, but I've grown more and more worried about many things I have seen so far. I also am very stressed and likely experiencing burnout.
These are the things that I feel like are "red flags":
- Boss is moody as hell. One day they're cheerful, one day they could start yelling and be super angry with everyone. There's no telling how it will go.
- Workplace has a LOT of gossip. Word travels so fast I have to be super careful of anything that comes out of my mouth. I've heard colleagues say a lot of nasty stuff about another person, then suck up to them like they're besties
- There is a lot of unspoken social pressure to hangout with the team and the managers outside of work - I'm not talking the occasional happy hour
- Workload is so heavy I can't keep up with it. Despite that, I've been criticized for not being able to handle it all, even though I often work overtime (unpaid), during my days off and when I was sick. The general culture is that "this is just the way it is" in this field, and it us up to the workers to find a way to handle all that work
I have come to a point in which I have no energy to put into this job. Right now I have no other offer lined up, but I have 1+ year of savings and sometimes I work freelancing gigs.
Am I overreacting or is this culture as unbearable as it feels?

Probably the most fundamentally useful of A3's Alter Ego offerings, the Chara Pass is a small card sleeve decorated with all the art used during the first round of AE promo merchandise. It's quite the looker of a piece and a great way to purchase a single item that contains all the new illustrations.

Printed polyurethane leather is not the most durable of materials, yet this card holder seems to hold up to some use. The stitching is solid and the chain is holding out. It's seen near daily use from me without much issue. Obviously, heavy use is not recommended, but it can withstand some mild abuse at the very least. Truly, practically crafted.

At a low low price with nice art to admire and practical functionality, this is probably my favorite piece of AE merchandise to have on me during the day. A great value for the AE fan on a budget, this is one that shouldn't be passed up on, even if it only holds 1 card.

Hello!
iPhone 12 mini, smashed with a heavy object beyond repair (the plastic behind the back glass is broken, the metal frame is split). The impact was from behind, on the lower part of the back, through Spigen Tough Armor case. No computer backup, no icloud backup. The phone seemingly charges (heats up after some time with a charger) but still does not turn on and is not recognized by a PC when connected.
What are my options and cost to recover data if at all possible? Full phone repair is not necessary.

2023.06.02 09:08 Limp-Ad-5174 I’m falling behind in my job. A result of that is killing me inside

Hey there!
I’m currently working in sales in the US. My consistency is wavering but I’ve been doing it for 2 years and find a-lot of passion in helping people and the growth opportunities inside the business.
I’m (22M) and I’ve fallen behind in the most horrific way. For context my business is extremely high energy and we are all incredibly close at my office. I would take a bullet for my boss and he is my closest friend/mentor. When I first started this job there was just 3 of us, all like brothers, they are older than me but still made me feel equal.
A few months in the business I began building a team, interviewing, getting public speaking around are office and overall incredibly essential to the growth and productivity for all reps in the office. I work 10-12 hour days 6 days a week and only get paid by commission for 5 out of those hours and I don’t really mind. My mindset is that I’m learning how to run a business on someone else’s dollar and I’m glad for the opportunity to learn and develop.
It was after I established myself that we had a guy we hired ( we’ll call him Mark) blew are socks off, he is (34) and has run a successful business before. Mark immediatly became competition and was piling up sales and I was sincerely happy for him.
Fast forward a few month later we were neck and neck with are teams, and he was somehow making 2x the money I was making. It began to get very competitive between us from there. Mark was a fairly odd guy, very cool guy but odd. He would say very outlandish things and even say things cat could very easily be mistaken as sexually harassment to someone just starting. Nobody seemed to care, he’s gay so maybe that had something to do with it.
Are opportunities to earn money isn’t too impressive but when you move up in the company like I’ve seen many do, you can be earning high six to low seven figure income if you work hard at that position. So obviously I’m very motivated and hopefully a year away from that promotion. Fast forward to a few months ago from today me and mark were getting close, by that time he was orderi and bossing around everyone like his shit didn’t stink and acted as if he had authority over everyone including myself.
I regretfully always compared myself to mark. He always kept me on my toes and he was sometimes a great motivator to work even harder. Mark is the kind of guy who believes he is better than anybody and his leadership style is through threatening and yelling, which really annoys me. The reason why is because since I started I was taught a sense of morals and the importance of our office culture, “ we are in the people development business not the sale’s business” and we need to uphold the light, fun, and big brother mindset of the whole office. He does not uphold this 95% of the time and not even my mentor stops him. A few months ago I was injured and couldn’t work, for a month I lost momentum in the business and I watched from the sidelines as he steamrolled everyone and got the only thing I’ve wanted for 2 years…the promotion.
I have since lost my team, my consistency, and respect. I am now treated by the people I trained like I am a new hire. People treat me like I have not been in the business for 2 years and it’s made me feel like I’m not capable. I question myself constantly, I have no motivation because I’m starting to think their right. My best friend/mentor has not been reaching out to coach me like normal, he’s been spending all his coaching time with mark, and I feel forgotten. Worst of all I get to see mark living the dream I’ve worked relentlessly for and I’m stuck in this pit while he replaces me by my mentors side. I say this with a very heavy heart and open ears to solutions to what you would do in the scenario. PS, sorry this was so long!

Taipei, May 30 Another shipment of fresh truffles imported from Europe recently failed a customs inspection in Taiwan after having been found to contain excessive levels of a heavy metal, in the wake of a series of similar violations since last year, the Food and Drug Administration said Tuesday.
A total of 3.5 kilograms of truffles imported by Taipei-based iTaste International Co. from Spain were destroyed after they failed safety checks, the FDA said in its weekly release on substandard food products intercepted at the border.
The fungus was found to contain cadmium at a concentration of 3 milligrams per kilogram, compared with the 2 mg/kg legal limit, the FDA said, adding that it was the seventh shipment of truffles iTaste has imported since last year that were found to be substandard.
Taiwan imported 1,844 kg of fresh truffles from different places of origin in 321 batches last year, among which 29 kg in nine shipments were substandard, FDA Deputy Director Lin Chin-fu said at a press briefing.
Of the nine shipments of substandard truffles, iTaste alone accounted for 23 kg in six batches, including one 2 kg shipment from France, one 4 kg shipment from Bulgaria, and four shipments from Italy that totaled 17 kg, Lin said.
As a result, the FDA has raised the inspection rate to 100 percent for all iTaste truffles imported from Italy, while it also tightened similar checks on iTaste's truffles from other countries, Lin said.

I had an idea for a wholesome, SFW, highly amusing RP where your OC finds her father at long last, and discovers exactly why mom never talked about him.
Specifically, he’s a sarcastic (he thinks he’s funny, others may disagree) majorly depressed pawnshop owner who dresses like he shops at the graveyards of the rich and famous. He also looks like a drug dealer, though that’s an unfair assessment as he hasn’t sold any in at least two years. But, you know, he’s trying to be a better human, and actually discovering he has a daughter would provide motivation his own survival instincts never have.
Since the focus is on character development, the themes or setting we explore can vary, from modern slice-of-life to adventure fantasy. The idea though is they need each other and they’re willing to work on themselves so they come out as better people and a better family.
I write third person via Discord, anywhere between several paragraphs to set a scene and a few sentences for dialogue, but the point is for us to have fun with this and not stress about specifics, I think. I work nights, but my job provides downtime so regular posting in the evening or morning won’t be a problem. If you can post at least a few times a week, that would be lovely.

An old French song played from a small room behind the counter of the pawn shop. Lysias sang along with some slight skill, turning an old violin over in his hands. The late sunlight that filtered in caught on the pits and chips of worn lacquer like they were being graded by one of his old professors, highlighting the imperfections with supposed warmth that dimmed the excellence of the work, nevertheless. It was a fine violin, too: one of the few brought in that was actually worth fixing. The varnish would need to be stripped before he could do anything, of course, like rehydrating the wood or sealing it—a tedious process by anyone’s standard but his. After all, ruination rested within his every breath, just a heavy sigh away.
The Cuss walked with him. Lived with him. Breathed with him.
Ate at him. Stole from him. Marginalized. Vilified. Consoled. Condemned.
It lifted his spirits and diminished his joys, adding and subtracting the human experience until the sum of his life was zero; no highs, no lows, just a meaningless medium. The Cuss was parasite and partner both. He almost hated it when he had the energy to hate something.
Lysias raised a finger, a mote of darkness erasing a spot in the air above it. As small as the tear was, he could hear the music bending, the sounds of the busy street outside distorted by its presence, sounding like water sloshing in his ear. The lacquer of the violin was gone in a blink, and the Cuss was put away again, as much as some distant, broken part of him wanted to watch as it ran loose in the streets.
Those visions always came. He knew what it wanted, but eff what it wanted—it had more than enough of him as it was.
Turning for the sanding block, he saw the ad for New York Healing Institute he pulled from his mailbox. A few stand-out words were read over his scarlet-lensed glasses. “It’s never too late to learn!” He had thoughts about that. “NYHI has new scholarships and grants for the aspiring healer! Find us on the web at-“
It was ridiculous.
Besides, no one would have an almost-forty-year old, self-taught, null-aspected mage anyway. Just being around other casters as they spoke or chanted or sang or drew or painted their magic was enough to unravel it sometimes, and that was without trying. If a caster actually came at him, it wasn’t even a fight; he didn’t have to say a word to cuss out their pretty sparks and flames, turning their power and years of study into less than a fizzled-out bottle rocket.
As long as they were within a few feet of him, of course.
And they weren’t a mind mage.
Or an illusionist.
…Fine maybe a few others, but generally, he could take care of himself.
Lowering the sanding block to his work, the abrasive scoured away the bare finish of the violin, leaving a brighter, healthier wood waiting just beneath. Soon, it would be ready to accept new polish and a new role. In fact, there was so little preparation left that it hardly took any effort at all to remove the last of the stains and give it a fresh start.
Green eyes flicked again to the article, to the propaganda and its ludicrous optimism.
It was ridiculous.
But still.
Still, he wondered if there were pretty sparks or fairy lights that could restore to him what the dark had devoured. To put the lacquer back. To seal his surface so he might weather life without the stains of every tear warping him, cracking the grain, giving unnatural life to maladies that grew into ruin and rot.
Lysias was wallowing of a fine state of melodrama when the door jingled. Yet another customer here to rudely interrupt his pity party. He was just about list every woman that had ever shot him down, too.
With a sigh, he pushed up his glasses and stepped out from the back in a black tee and jeans, the latter slightly more torn than the former. Neither went with his super-sexy $1,200 caiman cowboy boots, but that’s what the matching belt was for. The tarnished silver buckle though? With the giant “L” in 18k gold? That was just for him, and he offered no apologies or for it—fashion sense be damned.
He saw intruder—or customer, whatever—from the corner of his eye, focusing instead on straightening the bracelets in the display case before him, both magical and mundane. “Weeeeelcome to Arcane Pawn & Repair,” he drawled, monotone, “where we REpair, REstore, and REgret every decision that brought us here. What do you want?”

The edge is silver from his metal file. I heard him sharpening it from my bed this morning. He walks behind me, repeating as I work: “Corn,” (slash a divot with the sharpened edge); “Three to a hill,” (reach into the bag with my right hand and drop three seeds); “Tamp it down.” (Pull the dirt back with the hoe edge and pat it twice). . Two steps forward, and we repeat. I am 12 years old, and I’m Important. Daddy is Proud. My first three fingers will be stained red for three days, and I’ll wear that like a badge.
