Hi all,
New to the hobby, currently have an old 4790k UNRAID rig that I turn on intermittently but going to build a new 24/7 server when I move into my new house in a few months time.
Curious to know what the general consensus is for Alderlake/Raptor lake for either UNRAID or Truenas Scale? I was thinking of picking up a 13500 but may go for a 12th gen depending on price differences at the time.
Current usage is mostly for NAS and Plex but I will likely tinker with it way more as I get into it so want some breathing room to do plenty more.
Also, I know it's far away, but I assume I'd be foolish to consider waiting for Meteor lake and should stick with more mature hardware for safety/reliability?

I'm 39 weeks, and while waiting can be best, I've been feeling excessively horrid (swelling, chronic pain, can't move most days...things I'm constantly being told are normal pregnancy-related issues, but I constantly see other pregnant women with similar issues getting support, and I am not) and my mental health as been suffering (partly due to pregnancy, partly because of my care team, and partly because of life circumstances. Such is life).
A few weeks ago, I think it was at the 36th week appointment, I was supposed to get a swab for strep b---they didn't do it. I forgot to bring it up because the conversation had turned to "well, you've never been pregnant before." My face must have fallen because she was quick to add, "*this* pregnant before."
Yea. I lost my daughter at 16 weeks along. Second trimester stuff. The miscarriage wouldn't start on it's own so they had to give me cytotec. The pill that gives you contractions...to birth your baby. Or, I'm sorry, "pass" your baby. I was in labour with a sixteen week old fetus. I WAS PREGNANT. I've had two subsequent losses after, too, that she knows about, but they were waaaay earlier than that.
There is another midwife that I see there when the main midwife is busy with a birth. She constantly points out things that make me uncomfortable, like mentioning full term birth and I swear it is strategic. It has to be. Because 1) she seldom ever writes things into my chart that I tell her, and 2) it's always after I have to remind her when she says, "oh your first baby...." no, my *fourth* baby. And she will also bring up how blessed she is to have had SEVEN full term pregnancies. I feel like this lady is a bit pretentious and hard to talk to. I also feel like if she were to talk to a STM who had had a premmie, she might not sing a different tune, because of her emphasis always being on "full term birtths" etc.
There's no need to constantly bring up my loss as what they perceive as nothing substantial compared to the collective 13 live, full-term births they have had. I want this pregnancy to be over. I want my baby is being born and healthy and home with me. I'm drained. What do I do if she says no to being transferred for an induction? (Even getting a referral from her is hard because no one ever sends out referrals from that office even when I ask.) I can't *not* go somewhere. I do not know how to address this. Please help.

My husband and I will be out of the country for two weeks and are disagreeing on what the best option for our cat is while we are gone. Info/background: She has a water fountain and an automatic feeder with a camera, as well as two litter boxes and we will add at least a third box for when we are gone. We adopted our cat about 2.5 years ago and she is 7 and healthy. I work from home so our cat is my shadow most days and very clingy, she is also pretty playful and really only likes my husband and me. When we go away on long weekends and have friends check on her, she is normally skeptical of them and will come watch them from a distance but if they try to pet her she hisses at them.
Option 1: We would have friends come by once a day to scoop her litter boxes and try to play and put a couple treats in her puzzle mat. My parents said they could come stay at our house for a night or two in the middle of the trip to keep her more company, our cat does like my parents but they are not pet people. She has met each of the friends that would be coming by and is okay with some of them, but the visits would mostly be shorter stops to clean her litter boxes. I do have at least one friend that will play with her for probably an hour and can come by a couple times.
Option 2: My parents live 2.5 hours away and they said they could watch our cat at their house but she has never been to their house and my dad is allergic to cats. It makes me nervous for her to have such little interaction with people for two weeks but I also know she won’t like being at my parents.
What option would you choose? Is there anything else we could do to make her time less lonely?

In response to this situation, the moderators of tmobile have joined with other subreddit communities in a coordinated effort. We believe that unity is essential in driving change and advocating for the rights of app developers and the overall user experience. We will be setting this sub to Private on June 12th and will return on June 14th with normal operations. Now this movie is kind of meh in general. It’s not long. It’s kind of funny. It’s very satirical. I realize this game isn’t for everyone because the humor isn’t for everyone but give it a a chance. You’ll be surprised how often it comes up.
RULES
Character Rules: Anytime Alice says something weird/dumb. - Alice is kind of the ditzy rich girl of the group. She says a lot of dumb things. Things like, “running a podcast is really hard”. It won’t take long for you to understand why this is her rule.
Anytime David is an asshole. - David is played by Pete Davidson, which is not really an issue in this movie. When he is on screen, he’s basically just an asshole. As if the script said, “Just say everything with as much asshole patterns as you can”.
Anytime Greg does something weird. - Greg is 40. He doesn’t understand trends. And he does and says a lot of weird things. Basically anytime Greg is in a camera angle, drink.
Anytime Jordan escalates the situation. - Jordan is a jealous lesbian friend. She’s very possessive. She also escalates a lot of situations as soon as the death toll racks up.
Anytime Bee does something to fit in. - Bee is a poor girl, trying to live the rich girls life. While her character can be redeeming by taking care of her sick mother, she wishes she was every other person in this house (except maybe Greg).
Anytime Sophie is caught in a lie. - Sophie lies a lot in this movie. Although her lies sometimes aren’t outright said. You can infer the reason why she really came to the house, as well as her relationship status.
Anytime Emma does something strange. - Emma is an actress and after the deaths begin, she can’t find the right way to cope. Between taking drugs and kissing her friends, this girl just acts very strange.
Every time Max is mentioned. - Max is a character whom is mentioned often due to being a suspect as the killer.
Bonus Rules - These cause a lot of drinks.

Anytime you see the flash of lightning drink. When you hear thunder you can assume there was also lighting so drink when they are in the house.
Every time someone blames someone or something else. - Listen it’s no surprise that no one likes to take responsibility in life. These low to mid 20s people are very similar. They deflect, blame, and excuse all actions. If you’re Jordan you just flat out say, “No I didn’t”. If someone is being accused of being the killer, and that person shifts blame, drink.
Every time someone says something about the podcast. - Alice has a podcast, and it’s really hard. When someone says the word “podcast” drink.
Every time they find a body. - When someone is dead drink.
Every times a gun goes off. - Drink when you hear a gunshot.
Every time someone does drugs. - These rich kids love their coke. Drink when you see someone doing it, or taking Xanax or anything else. Alcohol counts too.

We are very anti racist in our house. I she ended friendships with people who showed their racism. We have friends of other races and cultures and have had discussions about things like "black lives matter", the history or pride month, etc.
My son who was six at the time went to winter break camp and said he didn't like the camp counselor because she's brown. She has tried to be friendly with him, (the winter break camp is also run by an after school program that he was going to and she was his teacher for that) but ever since then he continues to say he doesn't like her because she's brown.
This morning was the first day of summer camp and he knew she would be there and told me he didn't want to go to camp. I asked why and he said it's only brown people there (I keep telling him they are black people but he sees brown so to him they are brown.) I asked him what's wrong with that and he said they aren't like us. I asked how and he paused and said "I don't know. They don't play castle crashers." And I told him everyone of every race plays castle crashers and watches anime and like pokemon and all the things that he likes.
I told him his dad's best friend at work is a black man named Austin. They eat lunch together every day. He said he didn't want to talk to him dad anymore because he eats lunch with Austin. I told him I have black friends too, I just don't hang out with people very much because I don't like going out. He didn't respond to this.
Then I reminded him that we had a best friend that he called Uncle Juan that practically lived with us until he moved to another state. And told him about all the cool things Juan did. (He hitchhiked from Louisiana to California with just whatever he could fit in a book sack and a gas can. He jumped on a train and joined a carnival for a year. His dad was a black panther which came with some interesting stories of their own. He learned Japanese so he could watch anime in it's original language without having to read it. His family gave him apples for Christmas every year for some reason instead of toys.)
In some of the talks I asked why he didn't like black people and he said "because Christian is black and he says he doesn't like white people because white people made black people slaves." I said "Well that did happen." And explained the history there and of our country and how things still aren't fully fair but did explain our family didn't own slaves. His dad's side were poor french Acadians and my side came over during WW2 as refugees but that doesn't mean we aren't advantaged because of our race and showed him examples in his own classroom/school how things can be unfair and unjust. (Not sure if this was the best way to go about it. His teacher this past year was a first year teacher that "quit" but I noticed when I walked around her classroom that the black names were in the back of the classroom and the white names were in the front of the classroom. I think she was asked to resign mid year. I pointed out to him some of the things she did that didn't seem right.)
I told the camp leaders when I dropped him off this morning. I didn't want him to blind side anyone and I wanted them to be ready in case he said that to another kid. (I'm pregnant and started crying because the idea of him saying something to a kid breaks my heart. I don't want him to hurt another kid in that way.) The counselor said "We know your son and we know how he is. When he's with us he does play with the black kids. He most likely won't say anything but if he does we will just talk about using kind words. Don't worry. We got it."
My husband thinks we're doing the right things already. Leading by example. Talking to him. Asking him questions. Etc. He says some things he will just have to learn on his own and grow from. But I feel like we aren't doing enough if he still says these things.
I've noticed he's prejudicial towards other people too. We played on a playground one time with a kid from out cubscout troop. My son refused to play with this kid and I asked why and my son said because he's fat. I told him that's a horrible reason to not play with a kid and my son shrugged him shoulder and started playing with the other kids after all. (The kid has cancer, and was bigger because of medicine and diet. I didn't explain that to my son because I didn't think it was his business.)
We aren't like this ourselves though. We make efforts to talk about these things and other forms of social justice. I'm not sure I'm doing this right though. Does anyone have any tips on how to navigate this. I know I'm not going to be perfect in how I handle this but would love advice on how to help him grow more. Thanks!

In some of the talks I asked why he didn't like black people and he said "because Christian is black and he says he doesn't like white people because white people made black people slaves." I said "Well that did happen." And explained the history there and of our country and how things still aren't fully fair but did explain our family didn't own slaves. His dad's side were poor french Acadians and my side came over during WW2 as refugees but that doesn't mean we aren't advantaged because of our race and showed him examples in his own classroom/school how things can be unfair and unjust. (Not sure if this was the best way to go about it. His teacher this past year was a first year teacher that "quit" but I noticed when I walked around her classroom that the black names were in the back of the classroom and the white names were in the front of the classroom. I think she was asked to resign mid year. I pointed out to him some of the things she did that didn't seem right.)
I told the camp leaders when I dropped him off this morning. I didn't want him to blind side anyone and I wanted them to be ready in case he said that to another kid. (I'm pregnant and started crying because the idea of him saying something to a kid breaks my heart. I don't want him to hurt another kid in that way.) The counselor said "We know your son and we know how he is. When he's with us he does play with the black kids. He most likely won't say anything but if he does we will just talk about using kind words. Don't worry. We got it."
My husband thinks we're doing the right things already. Leading by example. Talking to him. Asking him questions. Etc. He says some things he will just have to learn on his own and grow from. But I feel like we aren't doing enough if he still says these things.
I've noticed he's prejudicial towards other people too. We played on a playground one time with a kid from out cubscout troop. My son refused to play with this kid and I asked why and my son said because he's fat. I told him that's a horrible reason to not play with a kid and my son shrugged him shoulder and started playing with the other kids after all. (The kid has cancer, and was bigger because of medicine and diet. I didn't explain that to my son because I didn't think it was his business.)
We aren't like this ourselves though. We make efforts to talk about these things and other forms of social justice. I'm not sure I'm doing this right though. Does anyone have any tips on how to navigate this. I know I'm not going to be perfect in how I handle this but would love advice on how to help him grow more. Thanks!

Hello everyone!
Just wanted to ask for different perspectives on a situation the bridal party is having.
Here is the summary:
Bridal party hired a coworkers partner to custom make all of the dresses for the ladies. A deposit was made and work was started (measurements, fittings, designs, etc). We noticed that this dressmaker is consistently tardy (2-3 hours late)/cancels last minute (4 times) for meetings for fittings and bear in mind that all of the bridesmaids have tough schedules to work around so they have made time to attend. We loved his dresses when he actually did arrive.
Problem as of yesterday, Appointment was at noon, he did not show/non responsive and we contacted my co worker who also could not reach him and come to find out on 4th hour that he had a family member pass away. This caused a mad scramble to have all of the bridesmaids go to David’s bridal for emergency dresses.
We’ve are demanding our deposits back due to all of this and the unneeded stress/frustration caused to all the ladies and also due to unreliability to time commitments. Dress maker is refusing to give deposits back stating material/time/labor and stated he would not release the dresses unless further payment is made at a “discounted rate”.
The whole wedding party is beyond mad at this point with less than 2 weeks till the wedding.
Any opinions on how we can handle this?

At about the same time, J's parents (not knowing she was married to R) arranged for her to marry P (29M), in our culture arranged marriages are still a thing.
Because of R's legal problems, I advised J to just forget about him and marry P, who is very rich. But apparently she made plans with Fryer L to flee the country with R, but it went wrong and R and J wound up unaliving themselves. I was the one who found the bodies, and all I could say was, "O woe, O woeful, woeful, woeful day! Most lamentable day, most woeful day That ever, ever I did yet behold! O day, O day, O day, O hateful day! Never was seen so black a day as this! O woeful day, O woeful day!"
Here's why IMBTA: I had a daughter of my own who unalived as an infant, and right afterwards I was hired to breast-feed J. This is considered normal in our culture; women who do this are called "wet-nurses".

I have bitten off more than I can chew, and it feels like my body is paying the price.
I am 21F and just got diagnosed with Ulnar Compression Syndrome.
I have an internship in corporate with a large manufacturing company. The job keeps me busy with excel or other types of desk duties. I do not feel like I’m gaining much relevant job experience as my “Project Management” position is really just Marketing as opposed to Supply Chain. Additionally, the work culture lacks a healthy work-life balance, with managers frequently working long hours and weekends. The culture of the job, combined with the predominantly male environment, has added to the strain.
The anxiety surrounding my commute exacerbates my worries. The thought of spending 40 to 55 minutes each way on busy highways, with the added strain it puts on my arms, heightens my apprehension about the toll it takes on my well-being.
In addition to this, I will begin my 7 credits worth of summer classes in two weeks. One class I expect to be difficult and the other not so much. I am hoping to graduate a year early in the spring of 2024 to save on tuition costs.
Those 8 hours typing at the desk and additional hours studying away will be painful, and as someone who is only 21, I’m worried about how it might impact my future health.
And finally, I am passionate about writing. Currently, working to complete my first novel. This is my dream and in a perfect world would be my top priority. I am terrified that writing could now always be painful because of choices I made during this period of my life.
Right now, I am leaning towards resigning from my internship. I am worried as to how this might impact possible employment in the future. However, the prevailing fear is that I am afraid that if I try to do everything, my arms will give up on me. I am at a loss. I could use any and all advice from you all.

Just got an order of Maison Alhambra's Tobacco Touch in this morning from Amazon and have had it on for a solid 5 hours. Ordered it as I heard issues with Tom Ford from GentsScents. I've found it to be less tobacco and vanilla forward than I thought, with a harsh chemical opening and some sort of fizzy cola- style note that I wasn't fond of, and was therefore thinking of returning it and maybe trying the Porto Neroli clone. It simply doesn't compare with any of my other tobacco fragrances in my small collection (started in December) such as D&G the one which I adore.
Was wondering whether this will improve (heard something about leaving it to macerate) or whether I ought to just return it. It had very solid reviews on fragrantica for the price and the presentation is excellent, just wasn't happy with it.

Hi everyone! On Friday I was on a country hike (UK), almost fell in some marshy moorlands, caught myself on a plant and felt something sting my hand. Kind of felt like a thistle but hitting my hand in 5 places. 5 minutes later and i’m getting the feeling of a toxin going up my arm and into my lips. My left arm and bottom lip stayed numb all day. 0 sign of a pierce mark on my hand, 0 sign of a bite or sting. Had a minor freak out that I had touched a bee and this was the start of anaphylaxis (never been stung). But as it didn’t seem to get worse and I was hours away from the car I just carried on with my walk.
Is the numbness likely to be an allergic reaction? Or a regular reaction to something venomous?

Hi everyone. I've been prescribed a dexamphetamine booster (5mg) on top of my Vyvanse (60mg) a day because my Vyvanse was only lasting me for around 5 hours a day. The first time I took the Dex I felt like it did something and kept me going for a bit longer maybe upping my motivation slightly (but only for around 1.5/2 hours and giving me a bit more energy but since that first day I feel like its really not doing much at all. Does anyone else find the same thing happening and have any advice? I've got another appointment booked in with my doc in 2 months but I don't feel like I can wait that long because now when meds aren't active I feel absolutely useless and completely out of energy.

I (17M) came out to my religious mother a second time a few months ago, the first time I came out being completely swept under the rug because of how mad she got. It surprisingly went well, or at least I thought so as she answered my coming out text by telling me she’ll always love me.
Long story short she turned really transphobic on me. I’m really confused because one moment she’s all sweet and keeps silent when I correct her, the other she gets extremely mad and always tell me "what does that even have to do with what I just told you". I never know how she’s going to act but 100% she doesn’t support me or even changed her views of me. She just thinks it’s some phase and that I’m possessed by the devil.
The only effort she’s ever done was calling me by a gender neutral nickname instead of my deadname. I can’t even consider it that much of an effort because that literally was a nickname she used my entire life for me.
My dysphoria is really bad and caused me to attempt suicide twice, one attempt who got me hospitalised. I’ve been completely failing school for 3 years and can’t bring myself to go back to school without being on HRT. Now that I’m finally out and don’t have to just shut up about what pains me it just hurts even more to have her misgender me when I’m right next to her.
The family I live with has their brains rotted by religion so even when I came out to my younger sister she got mad at me and insulted me and now uses it to hurt me whenever I annoy her. My mother is genuinely a good person I’ve seen it countless of times but her religion stops her from doing so much, like loving her child for example.
It’s only been a few months since my coming out but I feel like I’m breaking more and more everyday. The current political climate doesn’t help in the slightest. Thinking about getting on HRT after my teenage years end makes me want to kill myself. Everything feels like too much at the moment and I don’t know what to do.
She’s always telling me that me coming out to her felt like a stab in the heart and I would kill my grandmother if I ever came out to her. She told me that she’ll burn in hell if she buys into "my delusions". That she needs to "grief" when I’m very much alive.
It hurts so much to know that the people who were supposed to love you unconditionally don’t. I’m not financially independent so I can’t even get out, not that I want to I love my house too much. I just want to get away from all the pain my family causes me and live with the people who know how to respect me.
Please how do so get to make her gender me correctly I can’t take it anymore I don’t care if I have to manipulate or guilt trip her I just want her to gender me correctly by any way possible
