Hi! Does anyone know the policy on sending a private in basic a portable charger? I did already get the green light to send it by a former DS that i know, but was wondering if anything special needs to be done regarding how it is sent? Thanks in advance.

I'm going to transitioning from the Navy to the Army via an interservice transfer. I have four years, a deployment, and a lot of memories under my belt. I am electing to come back in as an O-1 into the Army as I have no interest in the limited job prospects that an O-3 with no Army experience would bring me, and frankly I don't give a shit -- it's just 4 years. My (fairly promising, at least based on what the Army side said) goal is to eventually be infantry.
Coming in as a new Army officer, what should I expect, both from the position of coming from a different branch and generally as a "new guy" Army officer?
What stuff (most likely) stays the same coming a ship, specifically ship-life? What changes the most?
How best can I take care of my people while still accomplishing the mission? I know this looks very different between branches. It's always a delicate balance.
What does the "daily grind" of a combart arms community look like? What's the "unnecessary BS day-to-day" that you guys get up to? (I can think of plenty of examples in the Navy, but I'm not sure they translate 1:1).
BONUS: What are your best and worst interaction stories with your fresh LTs?

Im 25 with a bachelors in CyberSecurity, also an Eagle Scout. Have not done much volunteer or team leadership since then. Nor do I have much work experiance.
Am I too uncompetitive for an OCS slot for 17X?
I spoke to a recruiter who mentioned going enlisted at E4 with 17C, then after 1 year of training and 1 of actual work, applying for OCS then.
Is that a realistic scenario or classic recruiter talk getting my hopes up in order to boost elistment numbers?
Prior medical history includes inactive IBS + depression from a couple years back.
Also, what are the timeframes for getting in with both of these options?

Is it worth getting Emt certified or Paramedic certified before going Army? I got DQ at meps and was told I need to wait a year due to medication I was on last year. I'm trying to find something to fill my time for when I'm able to enlist next year. Is this a good idea or a waste of time?

I have been recently promoted, and clothing and sales is currently out of stock of my current rank, so I am unable to update my AGSU. We have room and uniform inspections soon, and my first line is attempting to make me wear my AGSU with incorrect rank. I have been looking through AR670-1 as well as AR700-84 trying to see if there is a reg against this, but have been unsuccessful in finding one. If there isn’t, I’ll deal, but I’m not too keen on wearing a previous rank. Any help backed by regs would be appreciated

I’m going National Guard. I’m still working through the beginning process with my recruiter. Here’s the catch: I wasn’t born in the US. I was born in Kazakhstan.
I was never naturalized because when I was adopted into my family in 2002, the Child Citizenship Act passed in 2000 stating that the amendment is “to provide for the automatic acquisition of U.S. citizenship when certain conditions have been met.” — I have met these conditions and am a legal citizen of 22 years (Section 320 of the Immigration and Nationality Act. This amendment states that I also do not need a certificate of citizenship, which I never applied for as I legally do not need one.)
I have a passport, a social security card, a legal photo ID and a birth certificate. I DO HAVE a permanent resident card, but it expired years ago. I was a baby when my parents got it and they never renewed it. However, I am a US Citizen. I’ve lived here my entire life. The problem is, my recruiter insists that I must have that Permanent Resident Card up to date. I would do it in a heartbeat, but it costs $500.
Why is my passport, ID, SS card or birth certificate not enough to prove my citizenship? I’m frustrated and my parents are getting short with me constantly asking about it.

Kind of a situational question. My wife is scheduled for C Section June 21st and it looks like I may get PCS orders before then. If I do, and the kid comes, what do I do? Soonest my wife’s doc says she can move is 6 weeks postpartum and my wife can’t look after our first kid and newborn while she recovers from surgery. Is there anything I can do to report closer to the end of baby leave? I’m a geobachelor.

I just have a couple questions about how having a GED will affect my enlistment. I've heard it makes you ineligible for bonuses, but what about contract options? Could I still get an Option 4 contract? Option 19? If not, how many college credits would I need to move into the Tier 1 education category?
also, how do you increase your chances of going to certain schools (Airborne, Air Assault, Ranger, etc) if it's not in your contract? Going in as a 68W (Combat Medic) if that makes a difference

Is there some regulation against sending a SM on a deployment/rotation when they are very close to ETS? Say 6 months out?

Im a dumbass and made and said a lot of stupid ass shit that some hater who had it out for me has been basically (not really) 'blackmailing' me with that was on my laptop (private, never uploaded) which he hacked into . It was a bunch of questionable shit I said that basically makes me paranoid reasonably that I could possibly be court martial'd but I was never arrested or anything, and I'm sure the guy would upload it again if I joined the Military just to tarnish my good name. I said all this when I was 18 , but basically this dude came to my house and threatened my family with a knife and I responded, 'not so good' , and as a result, I was basically 5150'd and had lied to the people saying I was suicidal resulting in a medical documentation which has made me fearful of ever going to MEPS. So at the time I was 'isolated' so in attempt to expose the fact that there was a legitimate danger I reasonably tried to court attention on Twitter and basically did and said everything that could ever allow me to hold a security clearance before deleting it.
My perception of the event was that he was threatening my family with a knife, but to the outside world, he simply slashed my families tires. Basically he baited me and fell for it. There was much more to the story but if I could go back in time I probably would not have reacted the way I did but I was 18 and my mind was barely developing.

I was 5150'd and I was told I could never hold public office and I am barred from the Medical field . This of course was a lie, but it's BASICALLY on my Medical record and it's a huge red flag. So naturally, unable to join the Military, I was unable to complete my mission and of course, was put on medication for some time (7 months) until I can figure out what to do. So I been working warehouse jobs ever since that day . I am 23 years old now, the incident happened when I was 18. I was and still am a cross country runner who is fit and healthy , who can complete the physical requirements just fine but the 'Moral' and 'Medical' is what's preventing me from joining, open to debate. I haven't made the same dumb mistake of reacting to my families tires being slashed since and learned from that experience .

Obviously the Police knows what was on my laptop because this dude went around with the unauthorized material he was not allowed to have and actually put the content in DVD's around the city hoping someone would pick it up and read it , and I actually worked at a warehouse which actually had a police officer who worked there at the warehouse to check the hard drives for CP (i dont know the deal about that) , and he found the very same DVD filled with the content of my basically unhinged responses that I never uploaded to the internet .

Basically this dude mentally ruined my life but I wasn't the only 1 he has done this to, he has hacked into multiple people's laptops and slashed other people's tires before and distributed information and he has been arrested in the past .

I was wondering if I could be court martial'd for unprofessional conduct before I even join the military or am I just overthinking this? I basically had this huge 4 hour clip of a rant about his twitter account on my laptop that was perfectly constitutional legal but if you took things out of context it sounds like something that would have me arrested if I was in the military , and I never uploaded it, nor planned to. maybe it's just all in my head but as you can imagine , the real problem isn't my speeches that were on my laptop but the 5150'd , which was at the time and information I had at my disposable,a completely reasonable reaction to a violent threat.

I recently graduated college and am looking for advice in terms of what I should expect/request in my contract for 68W MOS. I got my B.A. in cellular biology in the beginning of May and have been set on enlisting since my junior year; now that I'm in the last couple of steps with my recruiter before going to MEPS, I wanted to know if there was anything I should ask for based on my scores/degree (520 MCAT, 99 ASVAB, 146 GT) in terms of rank or guaranteed admission to schools (such as Airborne) coming in. I am looking at the 2-year contract as of now because I do want to apply to medical school down the line. If I enjoy my time, I am open to staying longer in the Army. However, there are some characteristics I currently need to work on that I know enlistment will provide (as opposed to OCS which would mean an extended contract) in addition to education benefits. Also, the alternative would have been doing a gap year in a lab or clinic which doesn't pay much better and is something I have done my fair share of. Any help is appreciated; thank you.

I've always had a draw to service, but my athletic opportunities usually kept me from it. Out of high school, I had the opportunity to play college baseball and passed up on trying the academy route. Once I got halfway through college, I wanted to try ROTC, but I was a starter on the baseball team and balls deep in a mechanical engineering course load, so it didn't seem feasible to add to my plate.
Now, I'm going on 24 with 2 years of experience as an ME in product development. Is there a military route for someone like me who does have a college degree, but is beyond the point of an ROTC college program? Is my specific degree useful for the military?

I'm joining the Army soon, within a month or two. I've come up with an MOS list I made based on what I'm interested in (this is NOT a list of my available jobs based on my ASVAB score, just some jobs that sounded interesting based on the field I was looking into). I was mostly considering Logistics and Supply, but I am open to other potential fields, and jobs that aren't in the list below. Like I said, I want to do something in logistics and supply, but more so, just something non-combative that allows me to travel to most bases. What do you guys think about it? Any recommendations? I do plan to do something in law enforcement after I get out, but my MOS does not have to relate to that. Here is the list. The first two are the ones I'm currently considering, and the ones in parentheses are the ones I'm interested in.
(Cargo Specialist 88H)
(Unit Supply Specialist 92Y)
(Automated Logistics Specialist 92A)
(Ammunition Specialist 89B)
Ammunition Stock Control and Accounting Specialist 89A
(Corrections/Detention Specialist 31E)
Culinary Specialist 92G
Medical Logistics Specialist 68J
(Military Police 31B)
(Motor Transport Operator 88M)
Petroleum Supply Specialist 92F
Transportation Management Coordinator 88N

30 year old with great Asvab and physical tests, no medical problems other than anxiety counseling in 2020. Problem 1: I have a large hand tattoo on my right hand. It’s a animal with some foliage and stuff. It is not on knuckles but descends from half sleeve down wrist and over top of hand.
Issue 2: I was discharged from navy boot camp in 2019. Long story. Mental health and personal reasons. I have an re-4 jfc on my dd 214. ( navy parting gift) I have authorized documents of treatment for my condition signed from doctor and no treatment or problems with mental health since early 2020 and no medication ever needed. Is there any shot I’d get approved for enlistment in the army ? @7hillsrecruiting

Hey there ! I’m working things out to go to sign a 37F contract in the USAR soon since I had a high enough score on my ASVAB, but my recruiter confirmed that I would have to go to FSPC or Fat Camp due to being 2% over what’s allowed for body fat before I attend basic. I don’t mind basically getting paid to workout and learn about nutrition, but I’d love tips and just overall things to prep for before I have to ship out to it.

Will they change my mos because I didn't meet the allotted time slot for 35L AlT? Will I become over holdover until the next class? How frequent are the courses if held over?

Issue 2: I was discharged from navy boot camp in 2019. Long story. Mental health and personal reasons. I have an re-4 jfc on my dd 214.

2023.06.05 15:15 kbjone It's that time again...

While it's not quite the Stanley Cup Playoffs, college baseball's postseason is one hell of a trip with all kinds of twists, turns, and plenty of teams to point and laugh at from the first pitch of each regional to the glories of Omaha. (It's baseball, OF COURSE the crown jewel would be in the middle of... well, not quite nowhere, but close enough. As an LSU fan, it's that proverbial pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.)
-Without further adieu, let's cut to the chase with our first batch of eliminations. These teams are like those opening jobbers on Ninja Warrior, the ones who slip off the first obstacle and end up all soaked.
Northeastern, Florida A&M, Arizona, Lipscomb, Tulane, Eastern Illinois, Army, San Jose State, Maine, UNC-Wilmington, Oklahoma State*, Ball State, Auburn*, Wright State, Central Connecticut, and Nicholls State: Pack your shit up, and go home, you are ELIMINATED from the NCAA College Baseball Championship.
Now, why do two of those teams have stars by their name? Because not only did they lose two straight... they did so as the host team! #13 Auburn suffered the indignity of losing to Penn in their opener before getting sent home by Southern Miss. #11 Oklahoma State one-upped them by losing to ORAL ROBERTS... then getting Malcolm X curbstomped by DALLAS BAPTIST 18-4.
-With the jobbers out of the way, this next batch of teams comes up on the chopping block. One win is better than zero, but the end result is the same.
So... Maryland, UConn, Santa Clara, Clemson*, Sam Houston, Vanderbilt*, Oklahoma, Cal State Fullerton, UL-Lafayette, Rider, Washington, West Virginia, Samford, North Carolina, NC State, and Troy, you have been ELIMINATED. Kindly pack your stuff up and return home... unless you have a star by your name, as you're already home. And possibly being lynched by angry fans.
Once more, we get to point and laugh at a pair of teams. #4 Clemson, #6 Vanderbilt, you had visions of hosting Super Regionals dancing in your heads. And then you got concussed by Charlotte and Xavier after understandable losses to Tennessee (now officially Clemson's daddy) and Oregon. Go stand in the LOL corner and think about what you've done.
-Despite Mother Nature taking a piss on several regionals, even more teams have met their 2023 season's final resting place in the regional finals. Considering it takes two wins just to get that far, there's little dishonor in bowing out here. Usually. For this step, we'll give the losers a little extra blurb to honor their achievements this season. And there's still quite a few regionals wrapping up, so some TBDs are sprinkled in, they'll get their own post in the responses once they get their final marching orders.
-George Mason: If only you could have avoided the sudden juggernaut that is #1 Wake Forest. Outscored 27-1 in your two losses to them... but at least you're not Maryland who gave up three TDs in their one brush with death. -TBD 2: Florida survives becoming the top LOL by beating Texas Tech in the return match, today's the rubber decider between the two teams. -TBD 3: TCU holds advantage after beating #3 Arkansas 20-5, the Razorbacks now need to dig deep and win two straight to advance. -Charlotte: A very honorable departure, any time we get to point and laugh at Clemson is a WIN for everyone. Godspeed you crazy bastards, as Tennessee was just better than you. -TBD 5: All the rain in Baton Rouge, we're just getting to the regional final now with #5 LSU holding advantage over Oregon State. Personally: DON'T BLOW IT. I WILL BE MERCILESS IF YOU DO. -Xavier: Another honorable departure as you took #6 Vanderbilt down in dramatic fashion, then just had nothing left in the tank for Oregon. So be it, head home with your heads held high. -East Carolina: Meh. Being down to #7 Virginia was a death sentence, one you couldn't even delay. Oh well. -TBD 8: Another rubber match as #8 Stanford avenges an earlier loss to Texas A&M, forcing the decider back to today. My apologies to the unfortunately named Ty Uber, as your teammates picked up your starting DUD (4 runs, 5 hits, 1 out) with interest. -#9 Miami: LOL. You needed two straight to advance, and started the first game well with a 3-0 lead over Texas. And then the third inning happened. Nine runs given up, and your season is OVER. Go into the LOL Corner for your sins, and tell Clemson and Vanderbilt to stop crying for fuck's sake. -TBD 10: #10 Coastal Carolina beats Duke in their first meeting, forcing a decider this afternoon. Would be one hell of a recovery from losing your opener to winning your home regional, just one win to go. As for Duke... nobody will feel bad for you if you lose. -Dallas Baptist: Helping humiliate #11 Oklahoma State is good, and helping Oral Roberts get the "regional sweep" is even funnier. Have an honorable trip home, don't feel too bad. -TBD 12: #12 Kentucky blows Indiana out 16-6... unfortunately it still only counts as one win, offsetting your earlier 5-3 loss to them. One more game for the regional title... -TBD 13: The two teams that combined to let us all laugh at #13 Auburn once more face off in a decider, Southern Miss with momentum after beating Penn 11-2 yesterday to avoid elimination. -Iowa: Eh, #14 Indiana State had your number both times. At least you did the same to North Carolina, I guess? -Campbell: Avenging your loss to NC State will have to suffice, #15 South Carolina had no interest in losing at home. At least you scored seven? -Boston College: #16 Alabama wasn't losing in Tuscaloosa, carry on. If only Nicholls State had won that opener...

-From 64 teams, we're down to 23. Seven more will be sent home... hopefully all today, if Mother Nature can get her irregular bladder under control. Sixteen will move, or have moved, one step closer to Omaha; all that stands between them and the College World Series in Omaha is a simple best of three this coming weekend.
Just remember the most important rule of the college baseball playoffs, same as every other playoff: DON'T! GET! ELIMINATED! Or do, we all need teams to point and laugh at.

2023.06.05 15:15 twocatsinthehouse_ Third pregnancy. At a loss.

Heads up: I am very pro choice. I have always been and will always be. Even though I am, it’s still a hard decision for me. I am so grateful to everyone here that can give me insight.
Hi All,
I am sorry if this is triggering for anyone. I figure I talk to a demographic that has experience, and understands what is going on. None of my friends have 3 kids, most of my friends have 0 kids. So I’m hoping this space is safe for me.
Just got a positive test for our third. As a backstory I was never able to conceive without assistance/on my own. The one time I did I had a chemical pregnancy. For my first child (6) I used clomid, for my second (1) I used a trigger shot and IUI. Considering how tough it was to get pregnant and sustain a pregnancy, we decided if a third happens it happens, but we always have the choice to abort if I want. My last pregnancy was traumatic, the healing was awful, and I almost died even though it was a planned c-section. The spinal tap didn’t work and I was poked for 45 minutes straight before I had to go under anesthesia to have my second. I am still healing from the emotional trauma. I was so scared I was going to die and not be there for my son, and leave my husband alone with two kids.
After my second was born, we didn’t use protection. Of the 9 years we’ve been having sex, and even with the planned intercourse, we would never get pregnant outside of those two times with assistance. On top of that I have diminished ovarian reserve, and an auto immune disease. For 12 months after he was born we never got pregnant. On to what happens on the 13th month:
I start a GLP-1 medication for obesity/unable to lose weight. My AI disease is considered a comorbidity, and I have a track record of attempting to lose weight with no results. My medical team suggested and agreed to me taking the lowest dose of this shot. In addition I am on an SNRI for adhd/depression and Buspirone for anxiety. After my second child my life changed. My mind changed, the way I handled life changed. I struggled postpartum to say the least.
I am so so happy with my kids, I feel so grateful for them. They don’t stress me out, they make me laugh they make me proud. We are able to financially provide for both of them while still going on date nights, eating out, getting gifts. We’ve recently been talking about having a third what that would mean, if we could do it. Because of our past losses/trauma trying to get pregnant, we felt that if a third happened it was meant to be. It wasn’t happening it didn’t seem like it would and with our son turning 1 I finally felt like our lives were starting again after the hell that was post partum. I was getting used to the wonderful life with my two children.
My husband is 100 on board, he says he knows we can do it. He’s the best partner, I didn’t lift a single finger post partum, he changed my dressings, he encourages me to go in girls trips and relax. He constantly reminds me that my health and happiness is so very important to him. He can easily handle both kids on his own, whereas I struggle sometimes with the little one. He is very my body my choice, and supports me in any decision. He’s helping me feel supported with both decisions. But here is where I struggle:
So I guess what I’m asking is. How did you cope? How should I cope? Both decisions are very big ones for us. I’m afraid of the first year post partum because it was so terrible for me. My body and mind broke. Now that it’s been 13 months I feel like our lives are just starting.
Again, I’m so sorry if any of this is triggering. I just want to continue being a great mom, and continue with having a happy family. I just don’t know if that means build our life with our 2 or 3.

2023.06.05 15:08 pringlydingly Passed the PANCE

Unpuckered and all good vibes now.
Stats:
- Average student, passed most of my tests with A's or B's, but my programs tests were NOT good prep for the PANCE. No EORs.
- Pre-clinical PACKRAT: 149
- No post-clinical PACKRAT
- PAEA EOC: 1580
- Didn't do any NCCPA Practice Tests
- ROSH Projected: 525
- PANCE: 482 (results came after 4 business days)

Study Strategy:
- Did 10-20 ROSH questions daily for the first few months of Clinical Year with light studying. Maybe a few dozen ANKI deck cards I downloaded from a reddit threat. Rarely touched PPP.
- Sprinkled in podcasts on topics I was weak on throughout the year: Cram the PANCE, Physician Assistant Exam Review, Spoonful of Sugar.
- Started reading through PPP halfway through clinical year, and maintaining the ROSH questions.
- 2 months before PANCE date, I used an 8-week PANCE study guide to help me focus my efforts. Studied PPP on those blueprint topics for 3-4 hours a night, followed by 50 ROSH questions, with a 200 question ROSH practice test at the end of the week on just that week's material. Link: https://trello.com/b/3y2qJDbC/8-week-pance-study-plan
- Last week of the study guide suggests daily 225 question ROSH practice tests to build stamina, but I felt I had already developed that and didn't want to get burnt out, so I only did 6 x 120-180 question blocks. I completed the entire ROSH question bank twice over, with an average 80% correct.
- PROS: My endurance felt great, I didn't get tired at all during the PANCE. I felt confident because I was scoring 10-15% above the national average per category on the ROSH questions. Gave me enough time to feel like I covered all the topics and got into the material better.
- CONS: I got really really good at taking ROSH questions, which are different from the PANCE, and that artificially inflated my predicted PANCE score, and that's why I'm a good 47 points below expected. 8 weeks is also a very long time frame, and I feel like I forgot some things over that time period. For me, any shorter would've burned me out, however. I wish I had read through PPP throughout clinical year, that would've allowed me to go through the books twice.

Personal Opinion on Difficulty of Each Test
- The majority of what I searched up to ease my anxiety was how hard the tests were in comparison to each other, so I'm going to give my own ranking. I know this can vary a lot, and many of my friends felt that the PANCE was harder or the EOC was harder or the PACKRAT was harder, so I'll just give my best explanations for my ranking.
1) PANCE: This was hands down the hardest test of PA school for me. There were a lot of frustrating questions where two answers could be JUST AS CORRECT as each other. Others had just barely enough description to lead you to an answer. ROSH gave A LOT more pathognomonic s/sx and buzzwords for certain conditions, which can be positive because you know the buzzwords by heart now, but bad because PANCE doesn't give you those. I finished each section with usually < 5 minutes to review the 15+ questions I flagged. All this said, there are different forms of the PANCE. Some of my classmates who took it on the same day as me felt like it was very easy, while the majority felt as I did. For everyone who is going to take it for the first time, assume it'll be harder.
2) PACKRAT: This was only a hard test because it was right after didactic, when nothing was solidified in your head, and you felt like the questions were bullshit. It tracks somewhat well with the PANCE in question style, but beyond that it's in reality not that bad of a test.
3) ROSH: Easier the more you do. But still some random bullshit, ultra-specific questions that literally only the question writer knows. I've read many posts saying that ROSH is harder than the PANCE, but I disagree. On a scale of 1-10 for difficulty, ROSH questions range from 2 - 10/10, with a lot more lower end questions. PANCE sits at a 4 - 9/10, they are all more difficult because they don't give you as many clues and it wears on your confidence because you aren't getting those easy ones.
4) PAEA EOC: This was the easiest test of the bunch for me, as with just ROSH and PPP prep, I was able to answer a majority of the questions with ease, and always finished with 10+ minutes. The only difficult part of this test was how long it was.

Day of the PANCE:
- I felt incredibly calm and even keel, got good sleep the night before. This is usually a bad sign for me because I then underestimate the test, and get frustrated when it has the audacity to be difficult and ruin my calm. Thinking back, I might have been a bit burnt out on tests and questions. ALSO, I didn't know this, but while you have 45 minutes of resting time TOTAL, you only have 3 windows to use this time, so plan wisely. This caught me off guard.

Results:
- Got it at the crack of dawn. There is a section that goes over the topics that you get wrong, and if each topic is a singular question, then I got 49 questions wrong total. 251/300 is an 84%, which fit in line with the ROSH practice tests I was taking.

Conclusion:
- The thing that is going to help you pass this test is discipline in however you choose to prepare for it.
- You need to have a source of quick information about the tests topics, with PPP being the most common and arguably best. UTD, school notes, and other sources are great, but they can be excessive for the scope of the PANCE.
- You need to have a source of practice questions that you go through ad nauseam. Advice given to me was to choose 1-2 sources of information and stick to those only, because things vary between info sources and you don't want to confuse yourself.
- Having a solid progression of studying amount and intensity helped me ease into it and not get burnt out, so try to be disciplined and don't cram at the end. 20 questions a day is not that hard to do, and it'll help you stay in the groove of info.
- This test, as hard as it may be, is designed for 90%+ people to pass it. You will pass it if 1) you are diligent and put in good effort for studying (which you have been), 2) you don't let your anxiety get the better of you (I'm convinced the majority of those who don't pass first time are too anxious, rather than don't know enough), and 3) take care of yourself and have faith in the process.
Best of luck!

2023.06.05 15:06 DigAppropriate9778 Help!! I’m not earning anything?

Hello! This is my first post so I apologize for any confusion and I’m happy to clarify anything, but basically I just got accepted into the creativity program beta, and waited the 3 days for my dashboard to load. I can now get in to it, but it doesn’t say I have any qualified views, no RPM, and 0 in revenue. If I go to my most recent videos with rewards it is blank but if I change the date to most recent it shows the videos but again it has 0 revenue, and it is blank for RPM and qualified views… am I doing something wrong that is preventing me from monetizing these? Since I’ve been accepted I have posted 5 1 minute long videos all of which got around 10-50k views each

2023.06.05 15:05 mynameisdiscodisco Am I underfertilising my Monstera?

Am I underfertilising my Monstera?
I’ve already posted this over at houseplants, so I’m sorry if this pops up in your feed twice!
I’m at my wits end with my Monstera. I think I got it back in September last year or so, and it has grown quite a bit. But something is wrong and I can’t seem to find out what.
About 2 months ago I wrote this post and found out that my pH was way off, probably causing issues with nutrient uptake. This was caused by me only watering the moss pole, resulting in an accumulation of salts in the substrate itself.
Since then I’ve stopped fertilising the poles and started actually watering the substrate. I’ve been measuring the pH and conductivity regularly (not every watering but maybe every 2nd or 3rd) and the pH seems to be quite stable at 6.5, which is great.
Still, the leaves show discolouration and feel kinda 'stiff' + I noticed the growth of aerial roots has kinda slowed and some are drying out at the tips. And. I. Don’t. Know. Why.
There is no stunted growth. There is no browning. The plant gets full sun for 4h a day. I water it maybe every 6-10 days. I fertilise with every watering, with about half the recommended dose. I water with runoff, so ~1000 µS go in, 1000 µS go out.
My fertiliser: NPK 6-4-6 with trace elements and Ca/Mg. For water I use a 50/50 mix of RO and tap water.
Humidity is between 60-70% (except when the sun hits the window), temperature between 23-26°C.
Do you think that this is too little fertiliser? Too much fertiliser? Too little direct sun?
I’m hesitant to fertilise more because I’m so proud of this plant (except, well, if the issues it’s having because of my apparently bad care lol) and I don’t won’t to mess her up.
I’m grateful for every tip you might have.

2023.06.05 15:02 Cherry_Honey_Blossom Ah, “Sweet” Revenge

Buckle up, this is gonna be a bit of a lengthy post.
Backstory: My (36f) daughter 13f) is a phenomenal athlete. Her grandparents are able to afford extra luxury care and elite sporting facilities and goods, so she has the best of opportunities to succeed in life. Far beyond what my financial situation can allow at this time. This is mainly why I have been so compliant with them in regards to my daughter. I want the best for my kid and that’s all I have and ever will want.
Due to the fact that they can afford and pay for these things, I have had to relinquish some of my control over sports and stuff to them, and having no car has been an issue for me as well. It’s hard for me to go out of state and such for all of the event qualifiers, and such, so I have to go with them when she qualifies for the Jr. Olympics in track each year. Last year she came in 1st place 🥇 for the pentathlon, and that wasn’t even her favorite event! I am so proud, and again grateful for her grandparents for being able and willing to afford her these opportunities, despite the hell they put me through.
Her father (39m) “Tom” and I were together on and off for 10 years. His mother did everything she could to drive a wedge between us as she dug her nails into controlling my kid. That’s always been the biggest argument between us, his mother’s overbearing involvement in our lives and obsessive need for control over my child. We had to live with them for the first 5 years (which was only supposed to be 2 months) after my daughter was born. The pain and mental anguish I’ve had to go through, while being gaslit, alienated, etc etc, is incredible. I was in love with him though, and I desperately wanted a family of my own. My family is extremely toxic and dysfunctional and I won’t ever subject my kid to the hell I’ve been through, not that my mother would’ve taken us in anyway. His family was the closest thing to a “normal” family I’ve ever been subjected to, so I was hopeful we would follow suit. I kept being dragged along by his false promises that we would be a family and out of their house for years, while he cheated on me and left me behind while he went on his “work trips.”
That all being said, I finally put the nail in the coffin of our sexual relationship back in 2019. We were able to remain friends, and he did a lot for me if I asked in regards to needing a bill paid or an Uber or whatnot. He opened up about his girlfriend who he was seeing off and on while we were together, because she wanted him to cut all contact with me. First it was only to coparent, then it was I got blocked on everything and had to coparent through his mother. The gf we’ll call “Tina,” had an issue with him even speaking to me, probably because he cheated on me with her and she didn’t want him to do the same to her. 😆 Lucky for her, I don’t interfere with their relationship.
Now for the purpose of the post.
My daughter “Bailey’s” track meet was far away as I’d said, Last year, at the regionals, we had to travel far away, and I had to go with them. Usually I have to ask to go with them, and they will say there’s no room in the car for me for whatever reason and make it as hard as possible for me to be there for my kid. However, this time, I was shocked they invited me to go with them, and were super nice to me. That should’ve been a red flag, but I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt. We finally get all the way (2 hour drive) to Bailey’s meet, I go to the restroom, I come back, and her father is sitting in my seat. I was actually really happy to see him there supporting our daughter since he never goes due to work or whatever. Then I see his gf, her 3 kids, and her cousin. This is the first and only time I’ve met them. The look on her grandparent’s faces were so smug, like they were getting so much enjoyment from the pain and jealousy they expected me to show. I will admit, I was a little hurt seeing them together for the first hour or so, acting like a family, while I was there completely alone, but I wasn’t going to give them what they wanted.
They never gave me a head’s up or anything, but they all conspired against me to try and really hurt me. When being introduced, my daughter’s grandma went straight for my sunglasses and took them off to “show my eyes off,” aka see if I was crying. All in front of my daughter. I went to introduce myself, and rather than being rude or whatever they expected of me, I smiled and was beyond friendly.

The look on their faces was so satisfying, I wanted to bottle it up and sell it on eBay! 🤣

They were so visibly disappointed, it felt outstanding! They clearly expected me to be upset, cry, and probably attack her, but instead I was sweet as pie. God that was such great revenge, I think about that from time to time lol.
If you made it this far, thanks for reading! And I hope that you think of this the next time someone tries to do something hurtful like this to cause you harm, killin ‘em with kindness just might work!

2023.06.05 14:57 yangshunz Traits of Rockstar Interns at Meta

Since summer internships are round the corner, I figured it'd be useful to share some tips for interns to have a successful internship. Having mentored a few interns who and seen many examples of successful interns at Meta, I observed a list of traits that successful interns demonstrate.
Your performance during the internship will affect the offer you're given. At Meta, the top interns (< 10%), or what we commonly refer to as "rockstar interns" were given out-of-the-band offers that enter the L4 (mid-level) salary range, where few other big tech companies can match. I've encountered some of them throughout my time at Meta and Grab and they're all doing really well in their careers now. Here's what they did:

1. Overdeliver

There are a few ways to overdeliver, by completing things faster, doing more things, or doing them better. This intern did all of that and completed the intern project even before the mid-point review (6 weeks in, out of a 12-week internship) and spent the remaining time working on things beyond the intern project.

2. Review code

As part of the project, the intern became familiar with certain features owned by the team. Usually interns are the most junior members of the team, but this intern became such an expert that they were able to review code of not just fellow interns, but also full-time members of the team, making meaningful suggestions and spotting bugs during code review.

3. Refactor code

This intern saw that there was a similar component that could help achieve their task, but not without some changes. Instead of duplicating the code for their own use case, they refactored it such that it could be used in the current callsite and also their work.

4. Provide customer support to users

This intern was working on an internal tool and adding an entirely new feature to it. Before that, they had to understand how the internal tool worked. As a result, they became extremely familiar with the tool and was helping to answer questions from users all over the company. Some were shocked to find out that it was an intern that helped them with their issue.

5. Oncall

Being oncall is a responsibility of being available outside of regular working hours to respond to urgent issues with a product with the goal of addressing issues promptly and minimizing downtime and full-time engineers take turns to be oncall. This intern understood the team's work so well after a few weeks that the team trusted them to be added to the oncall rotation. They were able to pull this off by exploring beyond their assigned project, reading lots of the team's code and being familiar with the operations of the team.

6. Have time for side projects

This intern was not from my team, but someone I knew prior to them joining the company. They completed their assigned work so fast and was constantly bored, and they asked if they could help me with my work. I was working on some code modernization efforts and they wrote a codemod (script to do AST-based code modifications) to help me complete my refactoring work in a fraction of the time. They were able to dive into a code base outside of their team, entirely new stack (front end) and make impact. Mindblown.
Most of these interns had something in common, they functioned like a full-time member of the team. The primary goal of internships is to convert interns to full-time. Interns who exhibit behaviors of full-time employees will come out on top. Naturally these intern got the top ratings and one of them was even selected to have dinner with Mark Zuckerberg, a privilege only a handful of the top interns had.
However, it's also important to note that one has to complete their core project / responsibilities before striving for brownie points. The core project is the cake and these behaviors are icing on the cake. You can't just have icing without a cake.

2023.06.05 14:51 HannoPicardVI <Thames Valley police confirm a 21 year old Ukrainian national has been arrested and charged with aggravated murder after a white British male was killed last night. 18 year old Harry Welsh was violently attacked by the suspect and two other men after "making fun of the suspect's language"

<>
A 21 year old Ukrainian national has been arrested and charged with aggravated murder following a violent assault in Aylesbury town centre last night.
Thames Valley Police only confirmed the age and nationality of the suspect, but have not yet released his name.
According to eyewitnesses, in the early hours of the morning, Welsh got into an altercation with an unidentified male. The Ukrainian national - thought to be an immigrant who has been in Aylesbury for 5 months - is then said to have approached the victim - who has since been named as Wrayford High school sixth former Harry Welsh - and after the victim was said to have made fun of the suspect's language, reportedly saying "I don't speaking your f-ing Russian crap, speak some f-ing English, you dumb f-k", the suspect reportedly grabbed a metal pole lying on the side of the street and began to violently hit Welsh in the torso and around the head. Two other men - said to be Russian-speaking, "possibly Russian nationals" - joined in and proceeded to punch and kick Welsh violently.
"They were merciless," said one witness, a 19 year old hairdresser who wished to keep her identity anonymous. "This wasn't a punishment or a spur of the moment thing; the way they were going at it, they really wanted to murder him. It was extremely violent, the most violent thing I've ever seen in my entire life."
Police confirm that they are still looking for two other men who they have referred to as "accomplices to murder".
The murder of Welsh comes amid tensions in Aylesbury over the huge increase of economic migrants from Russia and Ukraine, after some locals accused immigrant groups from these two countries of "stealing jobs, terrorising local populations and taking over the streets".
According to last month's census, more than 1.7% of Aylesbury Vale's population are immigrants or documented residents from Russia and Ukraine, but some locals believe the percentage is far, far higher.
Police have confirmed that extra patrols have been stepped up in some neighbourhoods amid fears of violence erupting between Russian-speaking migrants and White British locals.
A memorial page has been set up for Welsh who is described by friends as "a talented water polo player". On Welsh's Facebook profile, he describes himself as an "avid sportsman" and plays as a left driver in the Wrayford Water polo club U19 team as well as for his school's U18 water polo team.
More follows.

2023.06.05 14:43 waylonsw0rldddddd Good news post colpo/biopsy

I’ve spent hours lurking here since I got my abnormal pap results a month ago and figured I’d share my experience in hopes it will ease someone else’s anxiety! I’m 12 weeks pregnant with my first baby and my doctor did a pap smear at my first pre-natal visit on 5/2. I’ll admit I was a few years overdue. My pap results came back abnormal, specifically HSIL. I immediately started spiraling and blaming myself for not keeping up on my paps. They scheduled me for a colpo on 5/25. My doctor said the cells looked abnormal and she took 2 biopsies. It was uncomfortable and I was really scared but I had virtually no bleeding and the recovery was pretty easy.
During the colpo, my doctor basically told me the results could be CIN 1, 2, or 3, or full blown cervical cancer. She said she was worried it was CIN 2 or worse. She even mentioned possibly having to terminate the pregnancy if it’s cancer. To say I was absolutely spiraling out of control is an understatement. I was never told that it was possible the biopsy could show that I don’t have pre-cancerous cells at all. Fast forward the longest week of my life and I finally got my results. They showed NO LESIONS!!!! My results said “glandular mucosa with changes suggestive of exogenous progesterone effect.”
I have never felt so relieved but also feel misled by my doctor. If I knew it was possible the biopsy could show no lesions at all, I could’ve at least hung on to that bit of hope while I was waiting! Anyway, I’m just happy that baby and I are healthy. Just wanted to share that this is a possibility! Try to stay calm after colpo/biopsy because it could end up being nothing.

Vancouver, British Columbia--(Newsfile Corp. - June 5, 2023) - Vancouver, BC: Dolly Varden Silver Corporation (TSXV: DV) (OTCQX: DOLLF) (the "Company" or "Dolly Varden") announces that diamond drilling with four rigs has commenced at the Kitsault Valley Project, which includes the Dolly Varden Silver property and Homestake Ridge Gold-Silver property. Two drills are targeting the Wolf Vein and two at the Kitsol Vein. A fifth drill rig is available as the program progresses.
"We have hit the ground running with four drills on our fully funded 2023 exploration drilling program. We have already completed several drill holes at Wolf and Kitsol, where aggressive step-outs in 2022 significantly expanded silver mineralization along strike to the north and south as well as down-dip. The Team is excited to test numerous new target areas beneath the sediment cap with the objective of connecting these two wide and high silver grade areas," said Shawn Khunkhun, President and CEO of Dolly Varden Silver.
In addition to step-out holes and exploration drilling at the Wolf and Kitsol veins, several new targets will be tested, including the projection of the Moose Vein under the sediment cap (see news release April 24, 2023).

In several weeks, the drills will be moved up the valley to the Homestake Ridge area. Further drilling will test the plunge of wide, high-grade gold-silver mineralization that was defined by recent oriented core and structural interpretations.
Geology crews have been on site since early May, completing a program of additional sampling of core from 2022 Homestake Main drilling where assay results revealed an extensive low-grade gold (>0.1 g/t Au) envelope to high-grade mineralization.
Qualified Person
Rob van Egmond, P.Geo. Vice-President Exploration for Dolly Varden Silver, the "Qualified Person" as defined by NI43-101 has reviewed, validated and approved the scientific and technical information contained in this news release and supervises the ongoing exploration program at the Dolly Varden Project.
About Dolly Varden Silver Corporation
Dolly Varden Silver Corporation is a mineral exploration company focused on advancing its 100% held Kitsault Valley Project (which combines the Dolly Varden Project and the Homestake Ridge Project) located in the Golden Triangle of British Columbia, Canada, 25kms by road to tide water. The 163 sq. km. project hosts the high-grade silver and gold resources of Dolly Varden and Homestake Ridge along with the past producing Dolly Varden and Torbrit silver mines. It is considered to be prospective for hosting further precious metal deposits, being on the same structural and stratigraphic belts that host numerous other, on-trend, high-grade deposits, such as Eskay Creek and Brucejack. The Kitsault Valley Project also contains the Big Bulk property which is prospective for porphyry and skarn style copper and gold mineralization, similar to other such deposits in the region (Red Mountain, KSM, Red Chris).

2023.06.05 14:34 Paladin-Pilot-07 [OC] Open to Ideas to Finish My Paladin

Sorry I’m advance for the long post. I’m a first time player and not a super creative one at that, but my friends invited me to a session, so I made a character. I’m stuck on some parts and I’d appreciate any and all suggestions to finish him. Some details I already have: His name is Daniel Kahne, a human Paladin. He stands at 5’11” and 200 lbs, with short, black hair and a full stubble. He came from an upper class family as a prodigy and natural leader where he was ready to be handed the keys to the kingdom, (so to speak). He was kidnapped by some alchemists at age 18 and experimented on to enhance his physical abilities (a la Captain America). He was put in command of an elite unit of fighters for the royal family, but his power gave him a sense of arrogance that caused him to overestimate himself. He decided to face the oncoming enemy alone and got his ass royally handed to him. Incapacitated, he had to watch as his comrades died in gruesome ways as he was helpless. He’s since taken on a crusade to avenge his fellows from his mistakes.
It’s rough, but I don’t know how to put that into the world of DnD, since I don’t know locations and all that. I also can’t decide what his Oath will be, his abilities and archetypes, or weapon preferences and proficiencies. I’ll gladly accept any ideas! (PS, if anybody has any Commission Artist recommendations, that would be great too)

2023.06.05 14:34 Half_knight_K my opinion. AI is a great tool. but should not be claimed as your own. also, my method when using AI.

I am a hobby writer. i write a lot but never was able to draw. due to this. i turned to AI. but I have set rules for myself when working on it.
I use AI a lot for art i use for the books. but the main thing is. I don't just plug in a short phrase. I work to build up the character or the scene. I work hours and hours to describe and explain the thing. the intrigue details. Everything is made by me. the story, the characters, the world, etc. I make sure EVERYTHING is built, long before ever touching the AI.

(I'll admit, sometimes I do plug in random images and mess around. but those were just fun experiments to how the AI worked, before i got to the stage I am in now. while occasionally I mess around with it to see how its changed if there was an update. but i know not to ever claim it as my own.)

I then plug it into an ai. then spend hours upon hours sorting through the hundreds of versions the AI creates for me. picking out what i liked. what i disliked. then, i pull the image I liked or the few I liked. and take time to edit them together. mixing in, shading, editing them to fit together. (sometimes I will even control the pose, where objects are, etc.) then plugging it into the AI alongside my description to create a few more interactions. then repeat the process till I find a result i am happy with.

I put A LOT of work in before touching the AI itself, even then, lots of work afterwards of using it.
(here's the steps I normally take when using AI)
  1. make the plan of character or scene or setting.
  2. write out the in detailed bio of a character or the in detailed scene that i want made.
  3. make sure to add it ALL the details. for character, its, age, height, eyes, hair, personality, clothes, etc. for a scene its, Place, time, setting, genre, number of people, the characters in the scene, the emotions, the weather.
  4. double check everything. read through it, and ask "can I picture this in my mind. do I see this clearly without any visual stimuli?" if no. repeat step 1, 2, 3 and 4 over and over.
  5. pick model, settings, which AI site, etc. (make a note of it)
  6. set the AI. settings, preferences. art style and size of image.
  7. plug description into AI.
  8. make over 20-40 images.
  9. pick out top 5 images,
  10. ask "are they what I want?" if no, go back to 7. if yes, continue.
  11. edit images to make something closer to what i want,
  12. plug back as a base image for AI with prompt.
  13. repeat step 7, 8, 9 and 10 till happy with result.
  14. pick out best image.
  15. put the image away. clear mind, try to forget about the image.
  16. read through the description from step 2 and 3. picture what I can see.
  17. go back to the image, ask "is this was I pictured?" if no. go back to step 7. if yes, then all good.
  18. save image. then add it to where I am working on for book. write out the name and website of the AI I used. write out the settings. make sure to make everyone who reads, know the image was AI generated.
  19. publish. but never set to monetary. this is free and only for fun.

I am at what 01:06:45 - 01:08:10 of the " The AI Apocalypse - By Hello Future Me" video shows. I am the collaborator, commissioner, editor, worker, etc.
(slight metapor), like baking cookies, I mix, add, and sprinkle in all my ideas. pouring my love and joy into the mixture. before ever pouring it into the mould and putting it into the oven. the recipe is all me. its just the mould and oven finishing it off. then check if i am actually happy with it before ever serving it. then also tell people the base for the recipe and the mould and oven I used.

i also never EVER claim that the art was made by only me. I link the AI I use and what settings i set for it. i also never use it for money. just for fun and inspiration. that's it.

my opinion on AI is that this great. its an amazing tool. but it is never to be claimed (fully) as your own. you can say what you put in, the ideas, the plans, etc. You can claim that. but not the art itself. you should tell people what AI you used, what settings, etc.

also, AI should not be used for monetary reasons. eg, selling the art.

• How old are you? What's your gender? Give us a general description of yourself.
31 year old male. From the outside I'm described as looking embittered/resentful, intimidating, hard to approach, but otherwise visibly smart and insightful: apparently when I talk to people I tend to make them question their whole life path or something, this has been said to me. I've been told that I'm smart, self-controlled, upright notably.
• Is there a medical diagnosis that may impact your mental stability somehow?
No.
• Describe your upbringing. Did it have any kind of religious or structured influence? How did you respond to it?
Childhood:
I'm european, no religious or structured influence per say. I'm an onlychild.
My father was schizophrenic, nice but very aloof, careless, nonchalant and rather irresponsible. I would physically fight with him to enter his room, basically for his attention but he would push me out, I remember trying to break the door of the appartment when I was left to myself outside and he wouldn't hear me. He was the one staying at home and taking care of me for most of my childhood.
My mother, as a consequence, was very stressed because she had to carry responsibilities for 2, I remember her as "mean" and demanding, basically always stressed out.
I was always playing outside as a child, I remember my father having to abduct me from outside in order to bring me home sometimes.
Around 8 years old, my parents decided to divorce. I remember ganging up with my mother against my father, I didn't really understand his condition, but I remember understanding he was problematic. So I basically actively supported my mother in her divorce in a "let's get rid of him" way.
Around that age I became more responsible and mature and I would guide my mother on how to do things, decisions to take, etc... I think I implicitely understood that, to get her love, I needed to fill that role, to be reasonable and dependable so she could relax and free herself from her important and ever present anxiety. So I became the parent in many ways.
I was an only child but I had many cousins I loved in another country, I would visit them very regularly. But around the 10yo mark, there was a problem in the family and it's like I was not their family anymore. It felt like a huge betrayal. Like all the veryh strong bonds and the showings of care were a lie.
I could be a weird kid. I remember thinking about death around 5-6 yo and coming to the conclusion that 1- I couldn't get too attached to my parents who were gonna die before me 2-I need to find a way to redeem the meaningless of life, doing something amazing that will grant me some part of immortality.
Teenage years:
Thus I entered teenage years more introverted than I was in childhood. I got social anxiety symptoms. I stayed at home way more reading books or playing videogames. In class I was always a good student, answering questions with a passion, but also cracking jokes regularly, class representative.
I was quite responsible and was fathering myself. I mostly didn't need to be disciplined but when I was, it would made me very (silently but very visibly) resentful, to the point teachers would go to me to defuse the situation calmly, because I guess they knew I was a good kid.
Good grades. But I was a bit spoiled and would be very harsh with my mother which I saw as incompetent. I would criticize her a lot for her shortcomings, telling her how to do things etc...
In class and school, I was known as a know-it-all, boaster, but funny.
• What do you do as a job or as a career (if you have one)? Do you like it? Why or why not?
I'm currently studying for a competitive exam to become a high ranking public servant.
After high school graduation I chose a very demanding but prestigious study path, which I succeeded in, being admitted in a very good business school in my country.
But then I noticed I wasn't interested in studying business. it's like I spent 2-3 years suffering for something and succeeding at it because I thought it was "the best path", only to notice that I wasn't interested in it when I got it. People would hate me for that, because it's like "now that you got in, you will leave this very valuable thing?". But anyway.
So I changed path trying to find some sense in my life.
I like what I'm doing because it's intellectually demanding (contrary to business school) and it serves my ambitions which have a lot to do with the common good. I don't really care about making money on my own, I want to leave a mark.
• If you had to spend an entire weekend by yourself, how would you feel? Would you feel lonely or refreshed?
I would feel depressed but without noticing. I need to get externally stimulated in some way or I get depressive/moody.
• What kinds of activities do you prefer? Do you like, and are you good at sports? Do you enjoy any other outdoor or indoor activities?
I like reading mostly. I liked videogames a lot, but I quit a few years ago because pointless. I mostly like to organize things, even when playing videogames, a lot of the pleasure was planning things out, organizing for maximum output, I get untold satisfaction just spending hours devising the best way to arrange things for optimal outcome.
I've never been either good or bad at sports, average. Mostly in nerdy territory. I do exercize for the aesthetical and productivity/health related benefits.
• How curious are you? Do you have more ideas then you can execute? What are your curiosities about? What are your ideas about - is it environmental or conceptual, and can you please elaborate?
I'm not very curious. I'm very...obsessed? In the sense that I have one thing in mind and everything else seems derisory. I don't like to get distracted, so I don't get out of my way to discover things.
My ideas are mostly about cause and effect. It's mostly about paying attention to intentions, causality to have the best outcome. What are the best guidelines/principles to enforce in order to have the best result, by trying to divine consequences of ways of doing things.
• Would you enjoy taking on a leadership position? Do you think you would be good at it? What would your leadership style be?
Well, that's mostly my aim. I mostly end up leading in one way or another because I tend to think I'm right so I fight for that.
But I can be very... mechanic? In the way I communicate and handle things. Very direct, straight to the goal, no nonsense, focused. Very task oriented. And leadership has to include some people orientation to be fully effective, social skills etc...
So mostly I'd like to lead, but the hassle of dealing with this people-oriented aspect deters me from that, the middle ground being protecting my self-sufficiency and doing things my way, on my own.
• Are you coordinated? Why do you feel as if you are or are not? Do you enjoy working with your hands in some form? Describe your activity?
I'm not coordinated. I've been told so repeatedly by many people. SOme simple manual tasks I fail at because I don't have the coordination. I have a bad physical intelligence/ intelligence of movement.
I don't enjoy working with my hands at all.
• Are you artistic? If yes, describe your art? If you are not particular artistic but can appreciate art please likewise describe what forums of art you enjoy. Please explain your answer.
I'm not really artistic. I don't see the point. I do appreciate art though, in literature, painting (mostly classical, neoclassical. I appreciate beauty more than art to be honest, in the sense that creativity doesn't interest me per say (some innovative way to arrange thigns), but more aesthetical "harmony" like a grandiose neoclassical painting, or monument or classical music that I find beautiful.
• What's your opinion about the past, present, and future? How do you deal with them?
I don't manage to relate to a lot of people emotional attachment to the past. I don't get nostalgia, or it's very dimmed. I think you can study the past to unearth some hidden mechanisms about how things go, like in history, but those mechanisms tend to be universal and not period-bound and that's why they are worth studying, because it can help predict the future in order to take the upper hand.
• How do you act when others request your help to do something (anything)? If you would decide to help them, why would you do so?
really depends.
If it's something you can do yourself but you give up too easily (my mother), then it annoys me a lot and I make it known.
If it's something you need me for because you put yourself in a shitty situation by being inconsequential, it annoys me a lot too, because you get what you deserve and I don't deserve to have this thrown on me.
But it it's something I can help with, even without it being needed, but just because I have a diferent set of skills/strengths and it will compliment yours greatly and improve the situation for someone I care about, then I'm happy to help.
I have to mention that even when I'm really annoyed and don't want to help, if it's from someone I care about and this person don't want my help, I will still help. Because once I know there is a problem in my "vicinity" which needs fixing, I need to do it because it "sticks" in my mind and I can't get rest knowing it's still out there unsolved. So I will be angry, blame but will still do it even when asked not to. It's compulsive.
• Do you need logical consistency in your life?
I guess. I don't like people being unreasonable.
• How important is efficiency and productivity to you?
Quite important, even though efficiency and productivity need to be thought about in the context of the overarching goal, not just for themselves.
• Do you control others, even if indirectly? How and why do you do that?
Yes I do, because others are part of my environment and have an impact on me and I need to control my environment.
I've noticed that I tend to think of people around me as having a "place". Not in the sense of social status, but more like a function, a purpose, for me. So I control others to make sure everybody stay at their place to prevent disordenonsensical scenarios.
• What are your hobbies? Why do you like them?
I don't really have hobbies. I like to read, to watch tv shows or animes. I like to exercize. Most of my time is funneled into what I do. I'm mostly single-minded, I don't see much point to hobbies.
• What is your learning style? What kind of learning environments do you struggle with most? Why do you like/struggle with these learning styles? Do you prefer classes involving memorization, logic, creativity, or your physical senses?
I prefer classes with logic. I tend to learn more based on logical links between things/causality than just blank memorization, even though I'm good at that too. I need to see the links between things to have them all fit in a bigger picture. That's how I learn.
• How good are you at strategizing? Do you easily break up projects into manageable tasks? Or do you have a tendency to wing projects and improvise as you go?
I'm rather good at strategizing in the sense of devising counter measures to potential weaknesses in the future.
I tend to plan a lot beforehand and then correct the planning as I go. I don't "wing" projects, on the contrary.
• What are your aspirations in life, professionally and personally?
Having the bigger impact, fulfilling my purpose so my life is meaningful even after my death.
• What are your fears? What makes you uncomfortable? What do you hate? Why?
I fear betrayal. I fear being stuck in a situation I can't regain control on. I fear being pointless and meaningless.
I hate good intentions without care for consequences. I hate disorder, but not in the physical, more like things not working properly, things being out of control because on some root level, nonsense is being tolerated. I hate nonsense. I hate lack of imagination and lack of ambition. I hate mediocrity. I hate smallmindedness. I hate hypocrisy. I hate conformism.
• What do the "highs" in your life look like?
Efficiency, order, productivity, power, output.
• What do the "lows" in your life look like?
Nihilism, chaos, inactivity, weakness.
• How attached are you to reality? Do you daydream often, or do you pay attention to what's around you? If you do daydream, are you aware of your surroundings while you do so?
I could be more attached to be honest. I tend to daydream quite a bit, in the sense of not paying attention to things I deem derisory in the moment in my physical environment, like someone telling a story, but I'm thinking of something more interesting, like what is the reason why they speak about this, what does it say about their intentions for example.
• Imagine you are alone in a blank, empty room. There is nothing for you to do and no one to talk to. What do you think about?
I think about how to go out of that room. If I can't, I begin to think about a given problem or fantasize about shit.
• How long do you take to make an important decision? And do you change your mind once you've made it?
It's quite fast, rather instinctual really if it's important. It's more the derisory, arbitrary stuff that is hard to decide on.
I can change my mind if there is something I didn't see which appeared to me suddenly.
• How long do you take to process your emotions? How important are emotions in your life?
Not important, I don't really "process emotions", it's more like I either convert it into angeblame or I ignore/numb it entirely.
• Do you ever catch yourself agreeing with others just to appease them and keep the conversation going? How often? Why?
On the contrary, I've been told I can create conflict for small reasons. Like something that doesn't seem right to me, but who seems derisory to most people.
• Do you break rules often? Do you think authority should be challenged, or that they know better? If you do break rules, why?
I break rules if I find them not justified and they are in my way. Otherwise I tend to respect rules because we live in a society etc...
