I previously beat AM and SS, then moved on to CF. I really liked seeing how things played out if you chose a darker path. Since I beat AM already, seeing Sylvain and Dedue die and Dimitri’s reaction gutted me. Tears were shed. I kept recruitment to a minimum, since I expected the students from other houses would feel out of character in CF and it wold be more impactful to kill them off (it was).
-I did see on YouTube the dialogue of Felix vs. all his old friends and it was so heartbreaking. It did feel pretty OOC, though, so I’m glad I didn’t bring Felix along for the bloodbath. Heck, I saw some dialogue from a deleted AM scenario where Felix wants revenge against Dimitri for Rodrigues death and joins the empire. And he was SO angry and grief stricken. But he showed no willingness to cut down Ingrid or especially Sylvain. His betrayal is more in character there.
-It was heartbreaking in its own way when I killed him in Arianrhod in CF. Rodrigues reaction was…pretty underwhelming, honestly. Nothing like the anguish Seteth showed when I killed Flayn. Claude sounded more broken up when I killed Hilda. I was at first disappointed that Ingrid and Felix‘s deaths had such little fanfare. They deserved so much better, right? But that’s the point. They died like true knights. Ingrid even said she’s just like Glenn now. In her last moments she realized how utterly unfulfilling it was to die with “honor”.
-And I think Felix was right about his dad. Rodrigue didn’t love him the way a normal father does. It’s clear that Felix is so screwed up in large part because his dad only taught him how to kill and die for a king and not much else. I think the person he truly had a problem with was not really even the boar, but his dad. I compared the scene where Rodrigue gives his life for Dimitri and compared it to his own sons death in CF and the difference is so stark. Felix mourns Dimitris death very hard, no matter the route. But he felt like nobody would mourn that way for him. Not even his own dad. It makes me love the Sylvain/Felix ending in AM even more, because Felix actually has someone that would mourn his death so heavily that he’d literally die without him.
-Annette wanting to avenge her dad was so sad. She came running at me after I took him out but she was so weak and died so easily. But again, I saw in that deleted scenario where Annette joins the colonized Faerghus territories in the empire. And Gilbert kills her even though she was just trying to protect her mom!! He is as bad a dad as Rodrigue. I’m sad that route got cut because it really emphasized how screwed up the Faerghus knighthood ideology is. Poor Annette.
-Poor Dimitri. What an awful way to go out. Just like his dad. And Edelgard felt…something. But she didn’t cry. Damn, that girl is cold. It is what makes her so fascinating, though.
-I had Shamir kill Catherine. Awesome dialogue. Especially because it was Catherine who set the town ablaze. It might be a bit extreme for Shamir to side with the empire, but it’s not as unbelievable as most of the others. I also loved how you could pick up Thunderbrand. I was joking in my mind how we should take it from her body, then the game actually let me!! Damn. I didn’t like Catherine before for what she did to Lonato, but I felt very sorry for her. She was just brainwashed, thinking she was serving the goddess.
-I also felt awful for killing Cyril. Yes he was annoying, but it made sense with his backstory and I felt no animosity toward him. And Rhea had no reaction to his or Catherine’s death. Not surprising.
Overall, I felt like complete shit beating that route, so mission accomplished, game. My only complaint. I think that the Black Eagle students felt OOC in that route. It didn’t feel like they really had the conviction to be with Edelgard, nor was their friendship with her or even the professor strong enough to justify their presence and their deeds.
-Bernadetta is the most anxious person ever, she has no motivation to join any war. In AM, I figured her father forced her into the army or she joined just to escape his abuse. I don’t buy her being there because she felt anything for Edelgard or her beliefs. Maybe fear of Edelgard, but that’s it.
-Linhardt is the laziest and most pacifist mofo and has no compelling reason to voluntarily help El, either. I thought his presence made sense in AM, since I imagined he was forced into the war by his family and had no choice. But I don’t see him having much to do with Edelgard personally post timeskip.
-Caspar is so innocent all about justice and fighting evil. He genuinely felt bad for the victims of his father. I can see him participating in the war because he feels he has no choice due to pressure from his family. But not traipsing around with Edelgard going, “Woo hoo, let’s crush the Kingdom!” Just…no. He would feel very conflicted fighting with the Empire.
-Sure, Dorothea hates the class and Crest system. But not enough to kill her old schoolmates over it. She hates the violence too much. And unlike the others, she’s a commoner so she has no noble family pressuring her to fight in the war. She’s only there because Professor, which is so OOC for her.
-Ferdinand lost everything because of Edelgard. He also doesnt share her ideals about nobility being unnecessary. He even had some monastery dialogue pondering if he should have chosen to go against the empire.
-Petra is a literal hostage. That’s what made it so tragic when I fought her in AM. While she was the only one who I think had compelling reason to fight for the Empire, I don’t buy her CF characterization.
Overall, I found these characters more compelling in AM, where they died tragic senseless deaths in a war they had nothing to gain from. The Black Eagles were meant to be tragic innocent victims of Edelgards war and they work way better as recruits in other routes than in their own. So the story of CF didn’t feel “canon”, in a way because none of them would want to associate with Edelgard after she started the war. IMO, Edelgard is great but she makes a much better antagonist than protagonist.

This are 3 civs I invented in my spare time, I tried my best to make them balanced and in the case of the Tiahuanacota, to bring something new to the gameplay. I hope you guys enjoy, and if not, let me know why.
1._ Non of this civs have stable
2._ All 3 civs can upgrade Halberdier into Spear warrior in the Imperial age. The bonus are the same that those of the halberdier, but has faster movemente and attack rate
3._ All 3 civs ave have sligers instead of hand cannoneers
4._ I´m not sure yet if they would have eagle warrior, but it looks very hard to make them viable without it, on this particular point, please let me know what your opinion.

TUPÍ-GUARANÍ: Foot Archer
- Villagers use range attack against all units
- Range units fire 15%/20%/25% faster in Feudal/Castle/Imperial
- When detroyed or deleted, your buildings return 33% of their wood cost
Castle Techs:
(tech1) Ajaka Light Basquets: Villagers +8 carry capacity +10% speed
(tech2) Curare Poison: Your range units ignore 50% pierce armour
Unique unit:
Incendiary Archer (60g 40w): Long range archer with high damage. Moves as fast as regular arches but lays on his back tensing the bow with his legs ( cant move and takes time to stand up like trabuchet) Range: 4 min-12 max. Elite has bonus damage against siege and buildings.
Team bonus:
- Archery range units move 10% faster starting in Castle Age

TIHUANACOTA: Monks and relics
- Monastery and moks (not upgrades) are avaliable in Feudal Age
- Villagers gather resources 3% faster for every monastery, up to 15%
- The reserch time and cost of techs are reduced by 10% for every relic, up to 40% (olso age ups)
Castle Techs:
(tech1) Astronomy: Outpost +5 LOS, other standart buildings +3 LOS
(tech2) Viracocha: +100 years for relic victory
Unique unit:
Priestess of Viracocha: Fast moving healer that carries relics (70g). Elite: Area healing, can be created in monasteries. Elite: area healing
Team bonus:
Up to 3 relics produce gold for all the team members

MAPUCHES(1): Infantary (centered in raids)
- 1 free barracks tha is build 50% faster
- Military buildings reserch technologies and create units simultaniously
- Spearman line and skirmisher line are afected by loom
- Infantary +12 bonus damage against palisade, stone wall, fortified wall and gates.
Castle Techs:
(Tech 1) Malon: Infantary gains +4 bonus damage against villagers and recive -33% damage from Town Center, towers and Castles
(Tech 2) Guerrilla warfare: Infantary and skirmisher line + 15% speed + 4 LOS
Unique unit:
Weichafe (60f 25g): Fast cavalry unit with low armour and hp. Bonus damage agasint villagers (+4) and satndart buildings (+10). Scout line +6 and Knight +4 bonus damage agianst weichafe. Elite +10 hp, +10% speed and can be created in converted stables
Team bonus:
Berries last 100% longer (From u/Azot-Spike concept of mapuches, great inspiration for this post)
To balance the civs I though Tupí-Guaraní should lack attack upgrades forcing them to rely on fire speed and Curare Poison while Mapuches should lack some armour upgrades so they are forced to relay on their castle techs and Loom (olso, bonus against walls means no squid walls from the enemy). In the case of Tihuanacota I belive it should be full on economic/monastery techs but none of the last unit upgrades in order to force them into Monk rush or relic victory for late game.

Hi everyone...lol, I've never posted here, but here we go!
I made Level V (MiG-9) in 81 hours spending only $1 USD. I played for 10 days of *heavy* playing (but still maintaining a good amount of real life activities, so not complete binging). In the end, I'm not even sure I needed to spend $1, but I think it quickened my pace by a few hours. Here is the long version:

Stack two trial premium accounts to give you 14 days. It is very nice of Gaijin to allow this, and is in effect as of this writing. Use a brand new email address to do this. You can stumble upon places with free 7-day trials (like that funny face icon (or is it a seal?) in front of many P-36C, for example).
(You might get some free boosters (like 50% Silver Lions or 50% Research Points...save those until the third day of your play-through because you will get more bang for your buck!)
Free up your calendar!
Stick to one country. In my opinion, quicker to get to Level V this way. Also, I played only Air Realistic Battles once I got through the tutorial phases.
Only take the two crews you are given. You will not need anymore than that, and I feel it is a waste of 5,000 Silver Lions to take more crews.
Practice in test flight mode. Get very familiar with the planes you use.
Play all the air tutorials you can, even the advanced ones. Why? Because you'll need the Silver Lions they give! 7,500 SL (again, assuming premium) is a haul for a very good mission on the early and mid levels, and you will need every SL you can get! (Good luck on the landing on a carrier tutorial!).
Use the first “free” 140 Golden Eagles and get “Advanced Training” for your crew. I fairly evenly distribute my points among the different categories, but if you know you will be only a fighter, no need to waste experience points on gunners and bomber stuff.
***I used strike aircraft, and I paid $1 (150 Golden Eagles) to acquire a talisman for the BB-1. You should have 50 Golden Eagles left; I like to plow that into even more crew training.
Start at strike aircraft spawn and dive down to near the ground (not into it!).
Work to get the following awards: First Strike, Thunderer (at least 9 ground kills in Realistic Battles), Last Strike, and then Mission Maker (getting first and last strikes). As of this writing, if you get all four, that will net you 15,500 Silver Lions for one mission (and that is just the base amount, before bonuses also assuming you are on premium)!
You will be playing many of the same maps...learn them well! Learn how to exploit the opportunities in each one, like as a strike aircraft, how much time you have at the front before the enemy fighters are on top of you.
You might be bored in a ground attack, but you will have plenty of opportunity to kill other, human and AI controlled aircraft, you'll see!
When flying a plane with rear gunner and under attack, I like to fly very low to the ground to remove many angles of attack to the aggressor.
Regularly buff those Crew Skills. Once your rear gunner gets very skilled, they will take down many planes for you!
Also, get used to looking to the “radar” in the upper right corner of your screen. This can tell you when enemies are approaching and many other things.
Get comfortable switching back and forth between Scoreboard, Tactical Map, and the game display.
You'll get through Levels I and II fairly quickly.
Once starting Level II, find a Battle Rating 2.0 strike craft, I chose the Pe-2(e). This will still allow you to research Level III without penalty.
Eventually, you will learn when to reap Research Points, and when you will need to reap Silver Lions. I switch back and forth between planes. I used I-15 M-25, BB-1, Pe-2(e), and Su-6 (AM-42) with an occasional use of the I-185 (M-82) and the Pe-8.
Once I got to Level IV, I had to decide what to fly, and I stuck with the attacker role using the Su-6 (AM-42) and flew it rather cautiously, waiting for good moments to ground attack (when there aren't so many enemy fighters and/or they are busy fighting our fighters. This plane is rather easy picking for decent enemy pilots, and may times I had to endure my tail being ripped off for lingering over the front for too long!
“Go where they ain't”! That is, look at the tactical map. If there a lot of enemies in one area, take the long way to where you are going to avoid them (if using this strategy of course).
Also, you do not need to always spawn right into a battle. Use Spectator Mode to watch what is going on around you. If you are flying a slower or more vulnerable plane, why risk it. At the higher levels you DO pay replacements costs when your plane is destroyed (in Silver Lions), so be aware of that.
Have fun! Decorate your plane!
When you get to the higher levels, it costs not only to buy the plane, but also to put a crew with it. This is not such a big deal in the early levels, but it does add to the cost of things the further you go and must be taken into account.
****For Silver Lions, finishing the mission goals are generally more important than killing the most planes. When you successfully complete the mission, your haul is greater. Most of the time, this involves destroying ground targets, and this is why you should focus on that!

Here is the breakdown of my playing time (what this means is that I purchased six planes at each of these levels that allowed me to go on to the next level):
Level I: Probably about 4 hours (didn't keep too close of track of this)
Level II: Probably about 10 hours (didn't keep too close of track of this)
Level III: 26 ½ hours (150 RB battles)
Level IV: 72 hours (391 RB battles)
MiG-9: 81 hours (444 RB battles)

Caveats: I played for about 120 hours in 2019 on a joystick (ha ha Gaijin got their money from me back then because I was curious to fly a G5N since historically info on that plane as rather thin; I bought my way there), but could only get fairly good on bombers using a bombsight.
I started playing again in the middle of March of this year (2023) and found the fun of using mouse/keyboard to control things. I played quite a bit from March (Steam said about 300 hours) until the start of this avatar (May 21, 2023). I've played a bunch of flight games over the last three decades, especially Wings Over Flanders Field, a WWI game that goes about 1/2 to 1/3 speed of War Thunder, but I do highly recommend it for a really good, day-by-day. flying in a squad experience with good graphics and a good flight model, too.
Gaijin has created a great game in WT. It is not easy, and I can see the frustrations playing out, especially in the lower BRs (team killing, lack of control over planes, etc). I can really feel the progression of aircraft history going through the ranks and also the philosophies real-life folks used, adapting to changing conditions on the battlefield. I must admit, I kind-of like how tough it is, economy situation included. All too often, games are too easy in the sense that they give someone a false sense of accomplishment because games are created to be addictive; WT is no different in many ways, but yet by making it difficult, and using graphics that strongly resemble and feel much like their real life counterparts (digitally), Gaijin has created a wonderful experience.

But remember, no matter how lost we get in this fantasy world, all we are really doing is pushing a bunch of 0s and 1s around on a screen (until we get quantum computing, of course).
