i (19f) am on holiday with my friends for the first time. i’ve been feeling pretty nauseous and anxious since we got here 2 days ago. i’m with my 2 best friends.
they want to go out clubbing tonight and i was thinking of just joining them for a drink at the bar then going up to the hotel and unwinding, whilst they go out. is this selfish of me?
also to note i have my period and it’s quite heavy too.
i just can’t think of anything worse than clubbing when i feel like this and especially in this heat. i can barely even going for dinner with them as i have no appetite and i’m constantly nauseous and homesick.

My husband and I will be out of the country for two weeks and are disagreeing on what the best option for our cat is while we are gone. Info/background: She has a water fountain and an automatic feeder with a camera, as well as two litter boxes and we will add at least a third box for when we are gone. We close off our attic and the one bedroom with our plants in it but she otherwise has access to the rest of the house. We adopted our cat about 2.5 years ago and she is 7 and healthy. I work from home so our cat is my shadow most days and very clingy, she is also pretty playful and really only likes my husband and me. When we go away on long weekends and have friends check on her, she is normally skeptical of them and will come watch them from a distance but if they try to pet her she hisses at them.
Option 1: We would have friends come by once a day to scoop her litter boxes and try to play and put a couple treats in her puzzle mat. My parents said they could come stay at our house for a night or two in the middle of the trip to keep her more company, our cat does like my parents but they are not pet people. She has met each of the friends that would be coming by and is okay with some of them, but the visits would mostly be shorter stops to clean her litter boxes. I do have at least one friend that will play with her for probably an hour and can come by a couple times.
Option 2: My parents live 2.5 hours away and they said they could watch our cat at their house but she has never been to their house and my dad is allergic to cats. It makes me nervous for her to have such little interaction with people for two weeks but I also know she won’t like being at my parents.
What option would you choose? Is there anything else we could do to make her time less lonely?

I live about 3 hours away from my nmom, and I’m going to visit her today for her birthday. I’m going to spend the night, but in a hotel because her boyfriend that she lives with literally scares the shit out of me. He’s been so openly physically and emotionally abusive to her. In the past, I’ve often spent most the night waking to a pin drop at their house, asleep with one hand on a stun gun and another on my pepper spray.
She agrees that she would be upset with me if I stayed around a friend’s boyfriend who acted the same as hers, but I digress. Last year, they separated briefly, and during that period, about six months or so, all she’d talk to me about was how terrible he was, how he is a psychopath, etc, etc.
Of course, now she’s asking if we can stop by the house “just for dinner,” “just to show you this thing,” “don’t you wanna see my dogs?” “Not even for my birthday?” “Jesus, it’s my birthday! You seriously can’t stop by for a few minutes?” “I’ll tell him too just not come home from work until later!”
As I reminded her my not coming over is a matter of me informing her and not up for debate, she began to cry. “I don’t want to cry right now!” Great, I don’t want to have to fight a grown adult who refuses to listen lol.

CW: this is long and contains mentions of SA. I'm really sorry if this isn't the place to post this. I just really need help right now or just one person to listen because I feel like it's all in my head . . I'm in a fragile state rn because I just woke up from nightmares about my ex so I'm going to do my best to type this. My ex called me out of the blue and my ex calling me makes me so scared. It makes me throw up, sweat, run to the toilet, and cry at times. I always thought that meant I was excited to talk to him but my therapist made me realize that maybe that's not healthy. Well, he called and tried to tell me that I only ever wanted to hurt him in the relationship and then started talking about events that happened except twisted my words when I had proof that that's not what happened. Then he changed it up to "well I apologized and still" or said it a little differently.
I never want to invalidate or hurt my ex because their experiences are real to them and that matters. But they're also going through something serious that has led to me dealing with their unstable emotional state for years. I don't even like saying that because I don't want to invalidate them. But I had proof these things that they're talking about didn't happen or that their words don't match up to what they said and they're convinced it was me. They said they were scared of me and that I wanted to hurt them and such. That scared me because I ALWAYS asked for communication and for honesty and tried to check in with our relationship to see if things were okay. I always tried my best to listen and be supportive. But often times I would be supportive and my words were twisted. Or id communicate and they would ignore me and claim they were trying to fix it. I tried to see their side for years but I wish I listened to my friends when they told me to leave.
I've been going to therapy and while my therapist tries to hide it, I can tell she was relieved when I left him. She had helped me realize that my physical responses to him being near or calling were not normal. She told me that it sounded like I might be being neglected and at least being subject to things that were potentially harmful. It was at that time that I found out I might have been sexually abused by him over and over again which has left me broken and angry with myself. I didn't know that if you asked someone to stop because it hurts that they have to stop or else it's sexual assault. I thought that it meant he was too caught up in his pleasure and didn't mean it. I thought maybe he didn't hear me when I withdrew my consent but he did it anyways. Or that I lead him on when I told him I didn't want sex but was okay with anything else and he did it anyways...I didn't know. I thought it was that he didn't mean it. I've had nightmares ever since. I then made the mistake of wanting to ask him if he really didn't hear me that night but couldn't even get the words out and had a panic attack and had to call a crisis hotline. My ex told me I'm obligated to tell him what I wanted to say if it involves him. I said no and that I don't feel safe to right now. I can't even get through this post without crying.
He never paid for me and it was always me paying for him, he asked for money and then admitted to him not needing it and buying random things with it, he embarrassed me because he'd do things like lift my leg up over his head in public while I was in a skirt or would follow me around public places with a very obvious boner and people would stare and I just wanted to hide because he knew that he had it and said he always does with me, he told me I wasn't a "real adult". He told me I didn't understand the world. I called him after my pet died and he said he was at a friend's right now and wanted to play games with them and I was just left alone. He also hung out with someone who sexually assaulted me and he told me he forgot and that the person apologized (they didn't) and that I should let it go instead of breathing down his back about why that hurt my feelings.
I'll admit that I did constantly reach out to try to communicate or point out boundaries or constructive criticism (I never meant to hurt them, I just wanted to say I didn't like they they didn't communicate or that they didn't get help and took things out in me, etc) and he told me that I was being hurtful and that I only cared about bringing him down and that he has less nightmares being around me. Now I'm feeling so confused and hurt. Am I the bad guy? Was I too much? I don't wanna bring him down or invalidate him but I'm so torn up right now.

Alright. So I wanted to share my most recent MMF experience meeting up with a couple from Reddit. they posted coming into my town looking for a third, sent over a message and exchanged some pics and some light screening and they told me they were coming into town Saturday and would send the address. Saturday came along and they sent over the address and I pulled into this hotel and the parking lot was packed full. I was circling around when a group of sketchy guys (5 or more) tried to flag me down but I just waved them off and kept going. Weird right? I all of a sudden got a super weird feeling in my stomach and didn’t even think about the possibility of this being a set up for me to get robbed. I began to think about how I didn’t even screen them and verify they are real people.. So I left, and parked at a nearby gas station and contemplated what to do. So I asked for a verification pic and they obliged with a pic of them in the room and a pic of one of their phones with the time. Still could be a set up. Like idk if someone is in the room next? I decided to park in the front, told the front dest I was dropping stuff off to a friend and went up. I left all my valuables in my car as well. I took the stairs because I wanted to make sure I could escape quickly if needed. Everything was fine! We had a great time. My question to you all is, how do I avoid all of this in the future? It was Uber stressful lol

I was talking to my friends about good names for pets if you want to name them after star wars characters. My friend has a dog named veida (ironic because the dog has white fur) but does anyone have any ideas about this? Just curious if I ever get a pet/ for fun discussion

My kid (9m) is terrified of dogs and has been for years. His fear started when he was 2/3 and as far as I’m aware there’s no root cause, nothing has ever happened when he’s been with me around dogs and I asked his dad, same on his end. It’s to the point he screams and runs, sometimes towards the road, when a dog simply walks by him. Even if it’s across the road he’ll watch it nervously until it’s far away enough. He’s wet himself a couple times from fear and has panic attacks if they jump or bark at him. I’m trying to work through it with him and keep him as calm as possible but it’s a real phobia for him.
The problem is that since the pandemic his school has apparently lifted the ban on dogs in the playground, it started as 1 family would carry their puppy through for drop off and pick up because they didn’t want anyone to stroke it in case it transferred the virus (fair enough) but now that dog is too big to be carried and there’s 5/6 other dogs that are now doing the school run as well. Most are well behaved but there are a couple that jump up people, bark, pull the lead to get to people etc. Now my son is terrified going in and out of school every day and I’m at my wits end with it. Some of these people drive to school so they don’t need to bring the dog in with them. I’ve seen other kids get scared of the dogs as well which is why I’m contemplating going to the head teacher about it because dogs were never allowed in before and I understand bending the rules during the pandemic but I feel now it should go back to the way it was before. Am I over stepping or over reacting to this? Should I just let it go? Whether the dogs are stopped from going in or not I’m still going to continue working through my sons fear with him but I don’t feel like he should have to worry he may wet himself or have a panic attack in front of his friends and other kids at school. None of these dogs are service animals they are pets.

Dumb question I bet, but my friend and I are visiting Toronto in August and our room is in Etobicoke near the airport (much cheaper than downtown Toronto where rooms were almost if not more than our plane tickets per night) and plan on taking our hotel shuttle to and from the airport to catch the UP downtown. My question is, can you just buy tickets and hop on or do you have to go thru security/customs as if your getting on a flight or is the station separate from the airport?

We decided to host one of my friends, who I haven’t seen since in many years but called with regularly and we had to ask her to leave.
She was due to stay roughly two weeks. She tried to reschedule to stay another week and we were ready to have her gone.
We even had a friend who was planning to visit right after based on the original dates she’d given us and it didn’t occur to us that she would just try and reschedule.
A little bit about this visit:
-talked LOUDLY ALL THE TIME. I woke up one morning to a full volume call or something on speaker with a man nearly screaming? (I was just like Put. On. Headphones. Now.)
-we have a small collection of nice perfumes which we store in the bathroom next to our other personal hygiene items, she used multiple of them without asking (I smelled it and even if I hadn’t, the caps were on lopsided.)
-called my pet by a different name and tried to carry pet. My pet was polite but eventually started biting, scratching, and finally put shit in her suitcase. (She asked if she could use our all purpose spray for this like,,, yeah sure now you ask.)
-literally by like 2-3 days in she was asking me for my phone so she could order ubereats (and she eats like a full 3+ course meal every meal.) I had to say no, because I’m not spending $120+ every day? We had a kitchen full of food?
-literally visited for an event and presumably to go to the city + hang out with me a bit and proceeded to spend the rest of the time after the event just…sitting on our couch? I think she went to the city like 2 times other than for the event
-took like 2hr long showers (1 bathroom apartment)
-asked us to buy her an iphone using our apple cards so she could “pay us back” (we said no, obviously.) After my partner said no, she kept hounding me about it.
I had my partner ask her about her flight home, she said “I havent scheduled it yet” She initially said she would be here from the aforementioned dates, so we planned for that and had it in our calendar. Then she wanted to leave her luggage here while she stays at an airbnb the day of our other friend’s arrival (no.) and we finally had to put our foot(feet) down and just….the sheer entitlement.
She was even upset after I set the boundary and explained that she was going to need to find a hotel or AirBnB instead. After she left we needed a whole other 2 trashbags just for her takeout containers;…If you can afford that much ubereats, you can afford another place to stay, buddy.
Like…wanna stay an extra week on our couch (all day) for what exactly? I, for one, am never letting anyone who hasn’t already slept under the same roof as me or known me for at least ten years back in our house.

Hey folks,
a friend of mine and me are planning to do some bikepacking in europe for 8-10 days with our gravel bikes. It won't be our first time to do some bikepacking tours, altough it's gonna be our first trip with a tent. (the first tours we did we stayed at guesthouses/hotels/etc)
We did some research on bikepacking.com, komoot.com etc but weren't really successful yet when it comes to areas we would like to cycle. We live in munich and would be up to a 8-10hrs ride with the car to a potential starting point.
90km / 800hm in average (incl. 1 rest day) would be something we consider as feasible ;-)
Would love to your thoughts/suggestions/recommendations!
