For Reference I signed up for 3 cards recently the Capital One Savor one, Chase Freedom Unlimited & Amex Gold. My reasoning was that I have a lot of financial purchases coming up within the next 6 months & I figured some bonuses would be great.
I spent the $500 on the Savor One and received my $200 as “Rewards Cash” which I’d like to know how I could maximize this amount. Is it worth more if I use it a certain way or should I just get a check for the $200.
I spent the $500 on the Freedom Unlimited and received my $200 as 20,000 “Ultimate Rewards points”. Since every 100 points is worth $1 is there anyway to maximize this. Are the points worth more if I use them towards flights, food, hotels? Should I save these points or just convert them and deposit to my bank?
Lastly, the Amex Gold. The signup bonus is 90,000 bonus points after spending 4k in the next 6 months. I’m almost certain the rewards on this card are best used towards flights/hotels?

Hey guys, I just bought a grail so I’ve got to get rid of these. I am leaving town early tomorrow, so this sale only goes through this evening. I will re-post anything left when I’m back home in a week. Per usual, YOLO is king!
First up is a really cool knife from Poland, it’s a JK Knives, Dwarf. This is the 8th dwarf and has an unreal action. The detent is light but crisp and the blade falls shut beautifully. It’s in m390 steel with titanium handles. I carried this a few times, but it’s in great shape. I don’t see any snails/scratches, but there is some handling wear on scales. This was $800 from polish customs after shipping/fees.

Next is my Rockstead Higo J. This is the DLC version on both the scales and blade. Its in overall great shape, but there are two areas of concern, both of which I pictured. 1st is the small chip in the dlc next to the clip, the second is a small imperfection on the mirrored blade. I have zero clue how it got there and what it would take to get it out, but it’s there for now. The blade has zero chips, and is extremely sharp (think laser beam). The action is like the most perfect/broken in CRK that you could imagine!
The blade is hardened to an unreal 65.1 HRC, and is made of DLT571. These come from Japan and are as much works of art as they are knives. This is an older model and is safe to assume that the warranty is no longer in place as it has had multiple owners.

Last up is my haptic. It is an early haptic and is in awesome condition! I just got it back from a spa and haven’t carried since. The action is the typical unreal holt, it comes with the box, selinko, and detent tool. Picture of the selinko in pics. please read the reason it’s so cheap is that the previous owner ano’d the hardware. I had holt return it to factory and am unsure of its warranty status. Not that it means much as the knife has no issues and just came back from them, but worth noting.

It's been a tumultuous few months trying to have my X1C fixed. After five different warranty repairs I had reached the end of my rope when my laptop was shipped back from the repair depot in a crushed box with no protective sleeve or padding. It arrived with a broken housing, cracked back cover plate, and my WQHD screen had dead pixels. Lenovo refused to fix it initially but I had taken videos before I shipped it to the depot (thankfully.) I submitted the before and after videos to my case manager and my refund was approved today!
This is a bittersweet end to a four month battle with Lenovo Corporate. I didn't want the money - I wanted them to fix my computer but they proved incapable of replacing a simple LCD ribbon cable. I'm officially done with Lenovo. Although, I do appreciate the $2300 payout because I just ordered the new MacBook Air 15". I've been using ThinkPads for the duration of my IT career but today I return to the promised land.

I'm having trouble finding material to learn more about RESTlets. I don't see anything in the LCS portal, and SuiteAnswers seems to assume a certain level of familiarity which I don't currently have.
Ultimately, I'm looking to create an internally used RESTlet that will be given the id of a custom record, run some searches and other manipulations, then return a string back to the script from which it is called. Is a RESTlet even the best tool for something like this?

I’ve been listening to a ton of analysis and discussion on Grusch and his reverse engineering alien body claims since the news dropped… I’ve listened to the usual ufology folks: Dolan, Coulthart, After Disclosure, project unity, Zabel as well as lesser known and mainstream media outlets. I also listened to skeptics including Michael Schermer and Mick West as well as a huge amount of people commenting on their opinion of Grusch’s body language and overall demeanor.
Here is a concern I’m feeling: as much as I want to believe we are finally getting the beginnings of disclosure, I also don’t get a very legit feeling from Grusch. He doesn’t seem very serious considering the weight and scale of his claims… it’s almost like he doesn’t believe his own story.
Also: he’s not really a whistleblower… not only has he not seen any of the actual evidence he’s making claims for, he has somehow been given permission to share information that as far as I can tell would be top secret, namely the reverse engineering and alien body claims.
How would those claims NOT be top secret? Why would the military allow him to share that info?
Anyhow, my concern is that he may be used to discredit other narratives. A limited hangout that ultimately gets debunked and makes the community look ridiculous.
AARO and Kirkpatrick seem utterly entrenched in their perspective that all UAP have a prosaic explanation.
So unless we are seeing the outlines of a rift in the military and intelligence communities in terms of disclosure, I worry that we are being manipulated. This roll out feels very coordinated and intentional.
Curious to hear other theories or possible explanations for the current government trajectory.

I'm a 25M, CA Resident, URM (3.86 from a T20 and 523 MCAT). I check the rest of the boxes (research, volunteering, shadowing, etc.) My goal was to apply to top-tier MD schools this cycle, though I spoke to my college pre-med advisor and he said I had too many red flags. Do you think I have a chance at an acceptance or where might I want to apply? The two red flags are:

1. I had to withdraw for a year in between my first and second year for personal reasons
   
2. During the remote class period (Spring 2020-Spring 2021), I took my courses remotely. They were mostly P/F, though one science course I took for a grade was unfortunately a C. I'm most concerned about this, as my GPA has a downward trend.
   

Good afternoon everyone. I am looking for advice on what I should do. My sister (a US citizen) passed away in our home country while on vacation. While in the hospital, from what her friends and family told me, they took entirely too long to treat her as her condition worsened. She sat in a waiting room for hours, having a stroke, and no one looked her way until she had her first seizure. Ultimately, my sister had a brain tumor and was in that hospital for three days. They did a scan and saw a mass on her brain, but had to send it off somewhere else to confirm what it was. By the time they confirmed it was a brain tumor, my sister had died. To me, it sounds like they were taking their precious time treating her. Having not even resolved the issue, they even tried to send her home before she had another seizure and were forced to keep her. The night before my sister passed away, they would not allow her husband to stay overnight with her even though she was seizing and the only way she would get any help was if her husband ran outside the hospital room screaming for a doctor. So I believe when she was left alone over night something must've happened and of course none of the "certified" doctors and nurses came to her aid. I see this as medical malpractice all around, and I want to get the US embassy and a foreign lawyer involved. I want the doctor who was in charge of her to lose his job. I need advice on what to do as there is very little information out there, or scenarios similar to this that I can find. Thank you in advance.

Hi everyone - I've got a couple questions surrounding my security cameras I was hoping you could give me your input on...

1. My Swan DVR for my security cameras has started to act up when it comes to saving footage. My IT guy mentioned to me that our Ubiquiti Dream Machine Pro can replace the Swan DVR box if he puts in a hard drive to the Ubiquiti. The Ubiquiti 48 port POE switch we have below it would serve as the new 'input' for the cameras to plug into and would feed up into the Dream Machine for recording. - Is this true?
2. My current cameras are not IP cameras. They are BNC cameras that have a plug for power and a coaxial twist plug. The IT guy said I need to buy an adapter for them that will take those two plugs and output an ethernet plug for me to then plug into my POE switch. However everything I see online shows that this is used to run ethernet cable runs, but revert back to BNC on both ends (camera side and DVR side). -- Can this adapter be used too for converting the output to the NVR to Ethernet? If not what are my options here?

Any help is appreciated. The purpose of this task was to hopefully reduce a box in our server rack, by integrating the cameras into our Ubiquity system. The thought of upgrading all cameras to IP isn't in the pipeline just yet, so we are constrained on using the older cameras for now. If its not possible, would we then just simply buy a new DVR to connect all the BNC cameras too? Thoughts and advise is appreciated.

I'm moving back to NZ from the US soon. I'm working through all the stressful logistics of that. I was hoping someone might have advice on shipping items back. I don't want to ship a huge amount of stuff. Mainly just a few decent sized boxes of miscellaneous and if the price were right a few more boxes and a couple items of furniture.
I know everyone says to just take extra luggage, but there's a hard limit of 3 suitcases and one of mine will be a ski bag. That's not really much space.
I checked with the Air New Zealand cargo department and passengers cannot ship extra luggage as cargo from the US because of TSA requirements. Shipping a box with USPS is really expensive, so it's not feasible to send much. I care about this stuff, but I don't have an urgent need for it in NZ. For example if it has to sit around for a while waiting for a container to fill up then that would be fine.
Does anyone have any advice for a good company to contact about this kind of thing? Maybe someone that would do a partial container. Any advice would be appreciated. I have tried searching the Subreddit, but it's hard to find results that aren't about shipping individual items and aren't UK focussed or telling people to take extra luggage or are for people who are shipping a whole house worth.

I just finished my first read of Long Sun and while I like it overall (though not as much as New Sun), I was really underwhelmed by the depiction of Hy and Silk’s relationship with her. It feels like she veers between lovesick schoolgirl and oversexed femme fatale, and her characterization in general is extremely flat. I found it difficult to sympathize with her because we’re granted so little insight into her psychology or her reasons for action, and in the same way we don’t get much internal insight into Silk’s feelings for her. (The closest we get is Silk’s post-hoc justification of her tryst with Saba.) I can’t help but feel that the depiction of women is a major flaw in Wolfe’s writing (though I was pleasantly surprised by Chenille and Mint after being very put-off by Agia/Dorcas/Jolenta/Thecla), and it’s one that makes me reluctant to read more of his work.
I’ve read a few other threads on this topic, and a the same points always come up so I’ll briefly address them here.

1. Hyacinth is possessed by Kypris so Silk is “programmed” to be attracted to her. This way well be true, but this is ultimately an external explanation, and it comes across as lazy that we don’t get a richer internal sense of why they’re drawn to each other to complement it. It would be less frustrating if we got a better rendering of Hyacinth’s own view of her feelings for Silk and vice versa.
2. Horn is biased at the fictional author of the book. Sure, Horn is writing from his own limited POV and admits at the end that he’s biased against Hyacinth, and perhaps this is meant to be Wolfe’s clever commentary on the way that bias is inherent to any kind of narrative or on Madonna-whore complexes or somesuch. (Maybe Horn even makes up that Hyacinth tried to expose herself to him.) But it’s also possible to present a flawed character in a deeply sympathetic manner despite having a biased narrator (Dolores in Lolita and Odette in Swann’s Way come to mind—which is all the more frustrating given that Wolfe clearly idolized Nabokov and Proust.)
3. Hyacinth had a deeply traumatic upbringing. Obviously Hyacinth has a lot of trauma that comes from being essentially sold into sex slavery by her father and subsequently working as a high-class escort. This is the place where I’m most willing to grant Wolfe some leeway, but I feel that it’s still not enough to make Hyacinth come to life as a real person as opposed to a thin caricature.

At the same time, this is my first “whorl” through Long Sun and I’m far from a perfect reader, but I’m honestly pretty hesitant to explore Wolfe’s work more at this point. To be clear, I’m not accusing him of sexism or misogyny—I just feel underwhelmed by his depiction of certain women characters.

I finally got my two big back orders from Big Apple. Only problem was that they did not contain everything in the order that they said was being shipped! The first contained 3 of 12 pops and the second 4 of 10. So now I have to figure out how to get my money back for orders 1-2 years old. Has anyone had success doing this? Also they don’t give AF and just threw the pops in shipping boxes. No protection whatsoever. I’ll sign a class action lawsuit if there is one 😅

These are my recommendations for Apex and there’s no reason I’m talking about these 2 legends other than them being the only ones I think I have decent ideas for.
Seer: Honestly, he needs a massive nerf and I think the right move would be turning his passive into his tactical and his tactical to his ultimate. I imagine his tactical having a very fast recharge, and in addition to revealing information to seer, the scans would create visual indicators on the mini-map for the team similar to Bloodhounds ravens showing arrows that point to enemy location. Less scanning, more tracking. His ultimate would then be a buffed version of this tactical with a larger area of effect and all the same abilities it currently has. So basically replace the dome of infinite scans with a scan that functions similar to Bloodhounds tactical. Obviously he would need a new passive but I didn’t think that far ahead.
Lifeline: This one is pretty simple. Lifeline NEEDS on screen indicators showing your teammate’s health when it’s not 100%. Just like the support characters in Overwatch. Even a passive revive indicator could be huge. (“LIFELINE REV MEEEEEE”) This isn’t a buff, it’s a quality of life change that acts like a buff because lifeline players will be more likely to actually use their abilities at the opportune time. Having to check the bottom left of your screen to see teammate health is a little too much in the heat of a fight. And even after fights or when the team gets ring damage some lifelines literally just need to be reminded they have a tactical. That along with taking gold shields out of her care package and replacing them weapon attachments would make her pretty darn fun to play if you want to be in the support role.

I'm having a problem with condensation on the room side of the fan in winter. The fan is in an attic space.
I have some left over 2" XPS insulation board. I'm wondering if I can use this to build a insulated box around the fan. I know that on interior spaces this needs to be covered, but not sure if this is true if installed in an attic space.
Or do I need to use that foil faced insulation board.

Original owner. Purchased about 15 years ago. It's been inked only a few times but minimally used - never for more than a few minutes at a time. Nib is a "fine" in excellent condition (to me the lines appear more medium but that's pretty subjective). It's a very nice pen (it does not have a clip) but I just don't have a use for it unfortunately. I have included a close-up of what appears to be a small area of blemish on the cap; it came like this originally - probably imperfect lacquering process, who knows? Comes with original box as shown.
