I’m planning on buying 1-2 very nice bottles to cellar for my birthday. I would be comfortable spending up to $200, so $100 for 2 or one $200 bottle. I’ve just started building my cellar, so I’ve only got a few bottles. Currently have two bottles of 2020 Bachelet-Monnot la fussiere, and two bottles of 2019 Pichon Comtesse Reserve. I was thinking about adding either something from CDP or an Italian varietal like a Barolo or BdM. I’d like to have something that doesn’t need a ton of time to cellar; ideally would be ready to drink in < 3 years but I’m flexible if a suggestion is compelling enough to keep stored for a very long time.
Preference-wise, I’ve found myself enjoying medium to full bodied reds. I’m totally open to any suggestions though. Thanks!!

As the title states everyone deserves happiness a quote my old Italian grandad used to tell me as a child which I've only just remembered was "Don't believe you are ESSENTIAL. Both the day and you won't be there anymore. everything will go on even without you!" And that's the thing with relationships over playing your importance is your biggest demise, personally I don't believe I will find anyone I loved as much as this girl but at the end of the day I love her enough to let go and let her be happy with someone else because it's exactly that she is HAPPY. Life isn't fair and you don't get what you want especially when it comes to people. I just hope anyone reading this who is in a similar boat can come to this conclusion, trust me I spent a lot of time being the crazy obsessed ex but at the end of the day life will continue with or without you, if you find someone new Great that's brilliant for you and that was meant to be but even if you don't it is what it is man. Everyone deserves happiness and it's that simple, stop over playing your importance to these people you were in a relationship with because if they're happy who the fuck are you to get in the way of someone else's happiness for your own selfir reasons. Sometimes you just have to take the L keep it moving and hope what will be will be, people often talk about how going back to an ex is crazy if they've been with someone else or whatever but that's just ego talking, I am a firm believer in fate and If love is real it finds its way back, if it was never real then what's the point even stressing. I can't lie and say I'm happy because I'm not it's been nearly 4 months now and I still think about her non stop but she's happy man and that makes me happy knowing that hopefully one day I can find the same peace she has found. Id love to hear other peoples opinions on this!

So my restaurant, which is not a fine dining restaurant by any means, had an incident a few years ago that resulted in at least 3 people being fired. Something about some girls being served who were underage and they got pulled over right outside the restaurant or right down the road. Since then, the owner implemented policies about “no to go cups/bowls at a table that has liquor”. I learned about that recently when I had a lady pour an entire 22 ounce frozen margarita in her friends to go box. And another lady sneak out a drink in to go water after she dumped out the water in a glass. And another who tried to sneak one out, but I warned the manager beforehand. It happens a lot.
Well, I had a two ladies last night who both ordered drinks, separate checks, along with a cheese dip appetizer. The lady on the left also had a combo meal, the lady on the right ordered the appetizer and some desserts to go. Their drinks had barely been sipped on when the lady on the right asked for a bowl for her appetizer to take the rest home. I informed her of the policy and said “once those drinks are empty, I’ll be happy to bring the to go bowl for that queso” and went to check my other tables. It was a little hectic from multiple call outs so sections were way bigger than usual.
I come back a little later and the lady jumps down my throat about how “you didn’t even offer to take it to box it yourself, you just have a speech about your ‘policy’ and that’s not okay! Next time, you should offer!” So I said I’d take it and put it in the bowl for her right then and she let me take it. I immediately got my manager and told him what happened and he went ahead and poured the dip in a bowl and I asked if he could take it to her and explain the policy to her himself. Which he did and he was at the table for several minutes talking to them.
When I checked on them again, I’d already dropped off the checks the previous times and they were now ready to pay. Lady on the left said “no change”. It was exact change for the bill. Lady in the right was apologetic, kind of, and paid card. 0 in the tip line and they left 1 dollar. Combined, their bill was about 60 bucks.
When I spoke to another coworker about it, he even said since COVID, we aren’t supposed to take half eaten food to the back to box ourselves. It’s also not a service we provide, apparently. Even with their 1 dollar, I still came out with 101 after 5 hours of work on a slower night! Not terrible

Hey folks, I made a new Reddit username after discovering this subreddit because I think I'll be posting here a lot. And I don't want to use my main account because if ANY of my coworkers or friends see this particular story, they will immediately know it's me. This is because I told everybody.
This is the story of The Milk Man.
I deliver food for a small Italian market. In addition to pizza, we generally get delivery requests for subs, wings, drinks, etc. However, it is an actual market in the front, so some people will order what you might consider "groceries". Produce, baked goods, and (important to our story) milk.
A few weeks ago, an order came in for a medium sausage and pepperoni pizza. Along with this, the customer wanted a half gallon of whole milk. (I later found out he told the person taking his order "PLEASE do not forget my milk.") Weird, right? Who drinks milk with pizza? But I have a 3 year old kid, and I reasoned that if I were ordering pizza I might throw in the milk just to save a trip if I were running low. Wrong.
I took the delivery, and the man answered the door. Late twenties or early thirties, looked like he might have just woken up. It was a hot day, so he was only wearing basketball shorts. Pretty normal so far, "Hey, how we doing? Just need you to sign right here for me if you could" blah blah blah. It is only while he is signing the receipt that I see it.
On his left pec.
Right above his heart.
In fancy script.
About 1.5" tall.
Is a tattoo of the word "Milk"
Again, this man is only wearing basketball shorts, and this is his only visible tattoo.
I was so bewildered that I took the signed receipt and my pen, thanked him, wished him a good day, and went back to my car. And then, as I backed out and pulled onto the road, I started to laugh so hard I stopped making noise.
When I got back to the store, tears were running down my face as I approached and told everybody who would listen.
I do not mean to pick on the man, and I hope it doesn't come across that I think poorly of him. He is my hero. He either just LOVES milk, or he thought of the funniest thing a person could possibly do: get one single prominently placed tattoo of the word "Milk" and use any opportunity to express your love of milk to strangers.
Wherever you are, Milk Man, I hope you are doing well.

I've been living in Long Island City for about a year now, and my lease is up in August. I'm itching to move and considering two options: the Upper West Side (UWS) and the Greenpoint/Williamsburg area.
Thoughts on UWS:
Pros: The UWS has that classic New York City vibe with its gorgeous brownstones, sense of community, and two parks.
Since I work in Manhattan a couple of days a week, living on the UWS would be convenient for my commute.
Having a park nearby is a must for me, as I have a dog, and the UWS delivers on that front.
Cons: 1. Apartment hunting on the UWS can be a headache. It's not easy to find a decent place. 2. Currently, I'm in a shiny new building, and the thought of moving into an older, pre-war place has me worried about potentially dealing with rodents and roaches. (my BIGGEST worry)
My thoughts about Greenpoint:
I actually used to live in Greenpoint, and I loved its atmosphere, the presence of young people and families, and the greenery. It also has great parks, a cool waterfront, and plenty of bars and restaurants.
Just like the UWS, finding a good apartment in Greenpoint might take some effort, but you can get more value for your money. The only downside is that commuting to Manhattan from Greenpoint can be a hassle. Additionally, some areas in Greenpoint can appear a bit trashy.
I'm open to any insights or advice - TY!

(Example: several bars and restaurants in my area offer watch parties and drink specials for Titans and Preds games) We have one of the top teams in the league, arguably the leagues best player, and a couple of USMNT players in the squad. Hey all. Wondering if anyone knows of any tortillerias or maybe Mexican restaurants that you can buy good corn tortillas from. I know this is a classic "muh California" post, but I think my plan otherwise is to fill my suitcase with a million when I visit my parents back there and then freeze them, but I feel like there must be somewhere around here that's good.
Preferably Manhattan, but I don't mind buying in bulk and freezing, as I say, so anywhere is ok.

My wife and I run a popular YT channel on Indian food. We recently moved to Lisbon for work.
We are starting Indian cooking workshops in Lisbon where participants will learn to cook something interesting, followed by a sit-down dinner + drinks. We are renting the Lisbon Cooking Academy space (it is lovely and spacious!).
The first class is an introduction to Indian kababs. The recipes will be modified for home cooking, and to ingredients available in Portugal.
We have a considerable experience consulting restaurants as well as with online classes, but are new to in-person classes. Since this is a new city, we don't have many people we know. I thought some folks on this subreddit might be interested.
