Hey everyone, long but maybe a helpful post incoming.
I wanted to share my experience in depth with getting ill very suddenly in October of 2022 (8 months in) so this will be a bit of a longer post. I’m posting this to see if there are some similarities out there, maybe if anyone had some advice for me or even just share some progress, treatments or approaches.
Also for anyone reading that’s having a hard time with symptoms & long covid, I am keeping positive and will keep this post positive too. I strongly believe we will find the mechanisms at work; there is already so much research, testing etc. going on so please try keep your head up there’s a lot of people in this and a lot are getting better too. I am 28, male, active and healthy before this and had little to no health problems prior.
What happened to me at the beginning:
Went on a weekend away with friends at a quiet Airbnb near a beach from Friday through to Monday. Stayed at the airbnb all weekend and had some alcoholic drinks, using the hot tub and just hanging out.
I woke up on Monday morning and immediately started to projectile vomit and could not keep even a sip of watefood down. Vomiting at all is a very rare occurrence for me even after drinking so this was immediately a red flag. After about 3 or 4 hours this eventually subsided during the trip home.
After feeling not the best (flu-like symptoms with upset stomach, hot & cold, sore lower back) for 2 days after arriving home; on Wednesday I felt a dissociation/spaced out feeling come on suddenly while working at home & had what I felt was similar to a panic attack (heart racing, cold hands and feet, lightheaded) and after lying down from this I was slammed with the worst headache I've ever had. And this is where all my symptoms started. I can’t remember exactly when I tested (maybe 2 or 3 antigen tests at home) for covid during this time but it may have been a few days or maybe even a week after this but it was a negative test so for a long time I did not suspect covid. I was leaning more towards a bacterial or virus from the hot tub initially.
What followed:
Below are the symptoms I’ve experienced since then, I also contracted covid at the end of February so I’m unsure if I had Covid twice, or a post viral syndrome from another virus or bacteria that was exacerbated by Covid. EBV, Cytomeglo and further virus testing has come back negative and reading symptoms I feel that there is a lot of similarity with long-covid symptoms mentioned by everyone here.
​

• Headache - almost constant (mild to severe) (severe sinus & tension type headaches, ice pick headaches & pain at back of head as well as front and temples).
• Neck & Shoulder Pain - almost always (sharp or dull)
• Back Pain - often - mostly lower with stomach pain & sometimes middle & upper back
• Fatigue - occasionally - this seems to be on the milder side, can get through days fine.
• Sinus Swelling - often - CT scan showing persistent sinusitis - post nasal drip often follows. this particularly sucks and is very uncomfortable.
• Brain Fog - often, slightly less - comes with sinus swelling at times.
• Heart Palpitations - less often than before, sometimes onset - throbbing feeling in head and all over - multiple ECGs & 24hr Holter Monitor showed nothing.
• IBS - often for the first few months, now more rarely - irregular stool (size, frequency), undigested, sore abdomen strikes suddenly and can cause intense abdominal pain and diarrhea.
• General feeling of Malaise - often
• Tinnitus - often - sharp noise occasionally, low level ringing often.
• Dry/allergic/irritated eyes - occasionally
• Hacking up phlegm - often, onset
• Dermographism - occasionally - only real visible symptom that I’m having
• Twitching - more often recently
• Chest tightness - occasionally - breathlessness, short of breath or dry cough
• Mouth Ulcers & Eye Styes - every month or so, much more common during illness

Newer Symptoms (After contracting Covid):

• Anxiety & Depression - occasionally - related to health condition, have had good mental health until this. very up and down in progression. feel waves of sadness throughout the day or week.
• Pain in testicles - sore for a period of time, has come back a bit - Epididymis on left testicle side swollen, scrotum tightening occasionally, testing showed nothing. This is quite limiting for exercise & running
• Paresthesia - rare - feeling of sunburned skin (stomach, forearms, top of hands, nose and back of neck) - itchy sensations around body. This has subsided since it happened first.
• Hands turning red occasionally - especially when walking.
• Pain in joints, spine, hands - often - arthritis like feeling

My experience:
I wanted to add how things have been for me personally. I feel like I’ve been through my own hell so far. In the first few months I was doing fine as I assumed it would get better in a few weeks, maybe next month, definitely before Christmas etc. while managing symptoms and hanging on to the words of my favourite google search “does post viral syndrome go away” which always brought me the answer I wanted “it is temporary”. During February my mother was diagnosed with cancer and as an only child I think this is where my mental health began to suffer. In March when my testicular pain began I seen another doctor who mentioned central sensitization and my mind and ability to cope plummeted. I was scared out of my mind and I began to wonder if I would survive and had relegated myself to permanent disability for life. I would get a lot of awful feelings out of nowhere, an impending doom sense that was pretty engulfing. Thankfully I have an incredible partner who has been with me every step of the way and she has kept me from some very dark places, I am extremely lucky to have her. I worked for the initial 6 months after getting sick (work from home job) and told my work straight up that I needed support and to role back my responsibilities. Unfortunately as my mental health declined around March I had to step away from work (thankfully insured for now) but was unable to properly look at my work screen, do complex tasks or manage my work without feeling sluggish and needed to step away every 10 or 15 minutes.
The medical side:
I have seen a number of doctors, specialists including 2 A&E visits. Listed below are who I’ve seen and what I’ve done in chronological order. Thankfully have a close family friend who specializes in virology and took my case on to dive into deeper. After tons of testing for what feels like every variation of medical issue, the only thing that has shown up from all the testing done was a very recent positive test for Anti-CCP-AKS which points to polyarthritis as a symptom not a diagnosis. I have a gamma camera scheduled & a colonoscopy too for the summer. In terms of medication I did about 2 months on Amitriptyline, it probably helped some symptoms but I gained a lot of weight so stopped, I have found it hard overall to tell what helps and what doesn’t. One day I’ll try something I think “oh this helps” and then a few days later I’ll suffer symptoms while trying it out. I have tried my best to avoid taking medication and stick to supplements only.
Tests:

• Multiple Bloods - Initially B cells found, Anti-CCP-AKS (Positive at a low level)
• Urine - Normal
• Physical - Normal
• CT - Normal
• Chest X-ray - Normal
• Ultrasound of Abdomen, Scrotum, Thyroid, Bladder - Normal
• MRI of Brain - Normal

• Coconut water, multi-vitamin & electrolytes

Overall I feel a bit better but having plenty of attack/relapses/waves or whatever we want to call them. I find the biggest help is sleeping or resting as much as possible, hot showers and eating right. I’m happy to answer questions and see what compares. I would love some more advice on supplementation as I know its basic at the moment.

What if instead of cold deserts covered by Glaciers, places like Baffin Island were atleast similar in Climate to Southern Iceland or Scotland? With forests, grasslands, etc? This could be due to a slightly stronger Gulf Stream, or… just magic, this would also open up the Northwest Passage for the British, how may this effect British Colonization of the Region, and later, Canada as a nation?

My question is this: do you find that you attract bad (or “toxic”) people? I’m wondering specifically about friendships, but romantic relationships are fine too.
I’m approaching my 30s and have very few friends. I am lucky to have an older sister, who I get along with wonderfully, and a good partner. But other than the two of them, I really don’t have any close friends anymore.
I’m using Bumble BFF in efforts to make new girlfriends, and I’ve been reflecting on my past adult friendships. In my 20s, I’ve had a few close friendships with other ladies who, in hindsight, are some of the worst people I’ve ever met. These friendships left me high and dry, busted and bruised.
In the last few years, I’ve been in therapy and eating disorder recovery, and I’ve gotten sober (2.5 years, woo!). I’m in a good place and want to stay here.
But I can’t help but wonder WHY I seem to attract people who are bad and bad for me. I’ve read plenty of articles saying things like “they’re taking advantage of your good nature” or “they’re narcissists”, but I’m not sure it’s so simple. I wonder if there’s something I’m doing that attracts or enables these people, or if I might also be kind of a bad person.
With that, I hope to glean some insights from your responses and perhaps make a couple of good friends in the near future.

Hi, I haven't been to this sub before! I'm about to lose my mind and go off on this woman and I need some actual genuine advice on how to handle this in the best way possible.
I (22M) have a gf (23F) who comes over for 1-2 days a week that she gets to work from home. Everything is fine but one issue. Cleanliness. I have tile floors and her hair gets ALL OVER. She doesn't sweep it up. She leaves empty or mostly drank water bottles all over the place. She doesn't make an effort to keep the place tidy AT ALL. She doesn't rinse dirty dishes and load them in the dishwasher right away after dinner.
I understand I'm a bit of a clean freak, but after sharing my living space with other grown ass men for the last four years (military) I made a pledge to keep my living space as clean as possible because I HATE living in anything remotely filthy. I just can't stand seeing crumbs on my counter, bottles everywhere, her hair all over my floor, etc. I have politely asked in the past and she just kinda brushed it off.
Right now I'm really angry about it, and I want to blow up. Like genuinely, I'd like to make it extremely clear that if she is unwilling to keep my personal living space clean that she's not allowed to come over, but that would probably end my relationship if I'm being honest because I see it escalating after that. She does the same shit at her apartment by and large. Please God, would someone with kind words help calm me down and help me approach this the right way.
I understand I sound like a huge asshole. I'm angry and I feel extremely disrespected that someone would treat my personal living space like this when I make every effort possible to have my apartment sparkling clean.
TLDR: GF is a slob when it comes to keeping my apartment clean when she visits, and it makes me furious.

I (19F) went to the same highschool with this boy (19M). Since 11th grade I started to catch feelings for him. We never talked but I was friends with some of his friends so we would bump into each other often. He had a relationship for two years and so did I.
After we graduated highschool he moved to the netherlands to study collage and now I’m also moving to the netherlands. We never talked up untill last week. He suddenly dmed me on instagram. I was shocked because I never thought that he would talk to me. We talked all day. He was in town and he wanted to meet that day. He rides a motorcycle so he picked me up from my house and we hanged out all night. It didn’t feel real. He got even more handsome than the last time I saw him. We talked a lot about our past relationships and our lives.
He took me home that night and I texted him, but we didn’t really talk after that. I started to think about that night and the things he said to me after that. 2 days had passed and he still didn’t contact me. I honestly felt miserable. I don’t catch feelings often but this time I felt like I was starting to obsess over him.
I went out to clubbing to take my mind off of him. And he texted me while I was dancing. My heart felt like it dropped, I felt so happy and then we talked to talk for a few days more. He was staying with his friends and I asked if we could meet after he returned. He didn’t say anything that day but the next day he asked me if I wanted to come to his place to chill. I was hesitant bc I didn’t know where things could go but I said yes bc I wanted to see him so bad.
I went to his house, met his dad and we actually had a pretty good time. We talked, cuddled and he kissed me for the first time. I was really nervous to take things to the next level, but he looked so beautiful I couldn’t resist. We had sex and it was pretty good. He always made sure to ask if it was okay, he kissed my cheeks and cuddled me afterwards. I felt like I was in a dream. He’s seriously the most gorgeous looking boy I’ve ever seen. I kept staring to his eyes, he asked me what was on my mind. I couldn’t say that I was in love with him tho, i dont know why. He dropped me off to my place again, riding motorcycle with him was also so fun, it made me feel alive again.
It’s been a day, but he didn’t text me ever since, I didn’t wanna text him first either. But I seriously cannot stop thinking about him. We had an amazing time and he told me he was happy, I just can’t comprehend why he’s doing this. He seriously messed with my head. I feel so drained and all I want is for him to talk to me. Hello all,
I moved into a condo on the 17th of May and I just got the first power bill. The meter reading from the 31st of May indicates that I used 702 units for a total cost of 3790 baht. That...seems a little excessive considering I was shutting off the AC whenever I left, trying to conserve power where I could, and not having been in the place for the full month.
My Thai friend took a look at it and said the bill is in some Japanese person's name (which isn't the name of the landlady I'm paying rent to) so I'm a little confused. Am I getting the bill for the previous tenant perhaps? How should I handle this?
Apologies if this is a dumb question, I've tried poking around and wasn't having much luck finding a clear answer.

I've been using Pixlr for a while in the free version, and I'd been thinking of upgrading but I've been having so much glitchy behavior from it lately that I'm not sure it's worth paying for and I should instead save for Photoshop (pricier but more reliable.)
In particular I'm having troubles with:

• copy-pasting items neither seeming to copy nor paste (I'm just told the layer is empty, keep trying to copy the items and it never seems to take. Note this isn't an "empty layer" issue, I'm sometimes trying to copy whole images and it just doesn't copy.)
• Stuff I draw in a new layer appearing while drawn but vanishing soon as I lift the stylus (checked settings to make sure layer wasn't set to invisible or overlay or something that might make it seem to vanish -- nope, it's really just disappearing)

And I don't mean not "healthy for the game" good, I mean.... he's just weak. His hero power is essentially to gain a poorly statted minion every 4 rounds that comes with a downside (giving opponents a treasure), and your reward for winning is getting some okay-ish one-time use treasures.
The game has far outpaced the impact of a 4/4 minion on turn 4. I still remember way back in vanilla battlegrounds where a tier 2, 2/4 demon with taunt was considered strong enough to warrant a negative battlecry. Nowadays, we have 4/1 and 4/2 tier 1s with upside, as well as 5/5 and potentially 6/6 (picky eater) early minions now. While it's true that Diablo himself can pick up these units, none of these units are necessarily strong plays, as they ONLY help you win the first few combats; in this tavern 4-5 meta, if given the choice, you'd almost always want to pick up an econ unit or scaling minion instead.
This exacerbates Diablo's 4th place playstyle. You have to take these strong early game minions at the cost of econ and early scaling, because your treasures are tied solely to actually winning those special combats. Technically, you don't HAVE to, and you can go ahead and tavern 3 on 3 and enter turn 4 with two minions, but then you may as well be playing without a hero power at all. Worse, in fact, as you'd be giving a treasure away for free.
Regarding the power level of his treasures, the closest comparison to an existing hero I can think of is Brukan. And to be honest, getting rng, one-time use Brukan hero powers is simply not worth poor early econ and getting stuck on lower tavern tiers. I wouldn't be surprised if the optimal playstyle would be to not get baited by the first turn 4 combat and just play econ to get as strong a turn 8 as possible, but you'd basically be playing with no hero power at all for the first 7 turns and at that point you may as well just play a different hero in the first place.
The most common complaint is that Diablo forces everyone to face him, so IF he's strong, he wipes out the HP of up to seven other players. In reality, hard losing combat on turn 4 isn't a big deal at all thanks to armor, oneshot protection, and the fact that you'll rarely take more than single digit damage that early anyways. Again, you probably see multiple people going 3 on 3 already, and none of those people are expecting to win turn 4. As for turn 8, if you don't already have board direction with at least one main scaling piece and a sizable minion, you're usually going bot 4 regardless of Diablo existing. And by turn 12, you'll know if you're gaining MMR or not because the other half of the lobby will be dead already.
If your complaint is that a hero whose HP revolves around playing for 4th is bad design, then I agree with you. But if you think Diablo is genuinely too strong and changing the way matches are played, I think you're overthinking things. Any competent build will absolutely skyrocket in power once you get a few key pieces. You don't have to play mid-range just because Diablo is, regular builds can and will outpace Diablo by turn 8, and one-shot protection makes mid-range playstyles in general that much less threatening.
TL;DR In the current meta, Diablo is not a very strong hero. He either plays for Top 4 with early/midgame builds and has a tough time transitioning without econ or scaling, or he plays like usual and has a shitty hero power until turn 8.

Applied to this place a couple days ago and today they called me with a little phone interview. I was a bit off guard and stuttered a little bit but the manager seemed very polite. They asked if I wanted to come in to discuss about the position more and to show me around the place so I believe it went well!

Maybe someone will see something that I missed, but this was a pretty shitty start to my day.
I couldn't find my mother's debit card at the grocery store this morning so I went to the last place I used it, an ATM machine at a small bank near our house. It's the kind where it gives you the money, and then after a few seconds releases the card, and I thought there was no way it would still be here if that's where I had left it. So I go in the bank and ask if they had found it. Turns out someone was kind enough to drop it in the overnight slot, so I was very surprised and relieved. She tells me that they can't release it to me though since it's from another bank and they can't look up the account, so my mother would have to pick it up.
I explain that she's disabled (Lyme's Disease) and doesn't walk well, she's on the phone with me (so she could also hear everything that was going on), and I have her ID with me if that helps, but if not it's not a problem and she'll be over soon since we live right around the corner. They reiterate, so no worries, I leave. I get home and my mother heads back out to get the card. 15 minutes later I get a phone call from my mom saying the lady refused to give her the card back as it's against their policy, denied telling me she could come get it, SHREDS the card in front of her, and tells her they will notify our bank as such.
Please someone tell me if this makes sense. Why not shred the card while I'm there? Why isn't the card already shredded? I just don't get it. Like, I'm still happy that at least the card was safe and no one ran off and drained her bank account, but now we've got to get a new card and switch so much stuff to a new card number for seemingly no reason. And its slow at work so I have nothing else to do but think of this situation aaaaahhhhhhhh

Anyone spent time there? Thinking about spending a month or 2 in the Dolomites, and looking for a place with good public transit access to hiking trails, so that I can go for hikes before work (working MST). How is the food and general vibe?

My Mac Pro 2013 keeps not connecting to my monitor (it’s not the monitor, it’s not the cable, I’ve tried it on another Mac Pro and a Mac mini and they both come on no problem)
It sometimes boots up but only temporarily (like 2 mins tops) and then the display just disappears again and nothing makes it come back on. Then other times it won’t come on at all.
At a real loss for things to try here, tried resetting NVRAM which someone has suggested but that hasn’t changed anything.
Any solutions or diagnosis for the problem would be hugely appreciated - Thanks in advance!

My (36F) husband (40M) and I wanted to have our parents meet for the first time back when we were engaged. In my culture, a couple that is serious about marriage usually will have the parents get acquainted before the next steps (engagement etc). We thought my parents layover in Philadelphia (en route to another trip) would be a good, casual opportunity for a 2-3 hour dinner near the airport since his family lives in NJ. My then fiancé and I were going to fly up to attend but last minute I got Covid, so we cancelled. We nonetheless thought it would still be nice if the parents independently met up without us so I agreed to that plan. As the date neared, his sister who also lives close to the Philly airport offered that instead of a restaurant meetup, they all come to her house for a home cooked meal and to have “home hospitality”. I agreed to this without much thought at first, because it sounded OK. But on the day my parents went there, the meetup was pretty much all about her, her house, her new baby, her garden, her life. My SOs parents were chilling in the background. She took the lead in entertaining my parents and got really involved. The weird part about it, is that throughout the process she never once communicated with me about anything (FaceTiming with us, my parents dietary preferences, etc). What made it even weirder is that my husband and I were not there, so it felt like the point of the meeting was eclipsed and lost. It was all about her being a hostess. I tried my best to see the positive and see her as helpful, but it came across as overstepping and looking for a special thanks as the involved sister. I told my SO and he defended her, saying she was just trying to help. Throughout our time together, I’ve noticed that there is some enmeshment in his family (his sister and parents come in a package deal). I’ve never experienced this with a sibling coming into every conversation or event.

It seems like decently often when I evade, I'm glued to the ground or stuck in place. Abilities aren't greyed out or locked, but it takes a moment to a couple seconds to be able to move or cast again. Like the animation lock for it right at the end gets quadrupled or something. Most of the time dashing is just fine, free to do whatever after it's animation.

My younger sister (F19) has come to live with me (M25) during her summer vacation from college. As our parents live overseas, I've sort of been tasked with looking out for her. I try not to be overly protective and aim to be a "cool" older brother rather than a helicopter parent. After all, she is an adult.
My sister told our parents that she planned on hanging out with her friends for a few days and that they would not leave our city. Our parents thought it would be perfectly fine and agreed to it.
The problem started when my sister told me that she actually planned to go camping with some of her friends (F19, F20, and F20). I was cool with it and asked her to keep her cellphone on her so that she could call me if she needed to.
She said that she and her friends planned on leaving behind all technology as they wanted the fullest experience. I thought this was a bad idea and strongly recommended that at least one of them keep a phone, to which my sister responded, "They'd think about it."
The day before the planned trip, my sister said that they'd be joined by several more people, some of whom she described as a little sketchy. I told her that was a really bad idea and that she and her friends should consider uninviting anyone they thought was sketchy. I also insisted that she take her phone.
My sister flat out refused all this and said I was being too controlling. I got annoyed and said that if she wasn't willing to compromise, then she wasn't going on that trip. She started yelling at me and called our parents, telling them that I was preventing her from seeing her friends.
I told them how she planned on going camping with sketchy people, and my parents also refused to let her go. After the call ended, my sister started yelling at me again and said I was annihilating her social life. AITA?
UPDATE - My sis and her friends were supposed to head out last night (however sis never went). This morning, my sis told me that 2 of her friends who planned on going canceled as well. This was because some guy in his 40s who they never met before somehow inserted himself into group of people going. Apparently, he was invited by someone.
This man wanted to the leader of the group and planned on going somewhere more remote than was initially agreed upon. He then told my sis's friends that he would hold on to everyone's cell phone so that they could all get the most out of the trip and technology would't interfere.
My sis agrees that was "a little" creepy, but still says I'm an ass for "snitching to mom and dad" (even though she was the one who called in the first place)
Edit - For those wondering, we are from a socio-cultural group where kids (regardless of age) are kinda expected to listen to their parents. To their credit, our parents have never really enforced this and have allowed us to live without too many restrictions, so long as we don't harm other people or ourselves they would't interfere too much.
My sister is still dependent financially on our parents (and myself to an extent), however I never once used this to leverage my argument. Regardless of whatever bad decision she may make or fight she may have with our parents, my door is always open to her.
As of now, I sort of hiding in my room as my sister is still furious with me. I'll try talking to her once she cools down.
UPDATE 2 - I spoke with my sis and she apologized, she fully agreed that the whole thing became too sketchy. She told me that had she went, she too would have canceled like her two friends when she heard what Creepo had to say.
I asked my sis about the friend that agreed to go, and she too canceled after Creepo insisted that she and her BF give him their phones. Creepo then kicked them out of his car and they ended up Ubering back to town.
She told me that she's afraid as Creepo has been calling some of her friends and she's scared he'll call her. I told her to give me her phone if he calls and that I'll speak with him. I do work in a police department (not a cop though) so I'm sure he'll piss the hell off once I speak with him.

I've got 120 hours in the game and only the first 4 tears but it seems obvious to me that BotW/TotK are basically soft rebooting the series. The TotK memories cannot take place between SS and OoT, and this Ganondorf cannot be the Ganondorf/Ganon who originates from OoT.
These games have to be set far, far into the future of one of the 3 timeline branches, probably DF, and the founding of Hyrule by Rauru and Sonia is actually a refounding. The original kingdom is all but completely lost to time by this point and this is a new Hyrule and new incarnation of Ganondorf. This way Nintendo can say BotW/TotK are still loosely connected to the original timeline but also so far removed from it that they essentially reboot the series.
It's either that or these games are just a straight up hard reboot and any references to other games in the classic series are just easter eggs.
