2023.05.19 03:17 gfem89 Cleats similar to Mercurial Vapor IX sg pro?
Just started getting back into the game and as the title says I’m looking to replace my old boots which are literally falling apart. I know absolutely nothing about cleats these days but I would like something as similar to the Mercurial Vapor 9s, pro version. If anyone knows where I could find a size 10 of those that would be ideal. If that’s not possible which of the more recent mercurial Vapors are closest in overall feel to the 9s? I have seen that the Vapor 12-15 are pretty available online. Which of these is most similar? Appreciate the help

2023.05.09 00:51 gobluetwo How big is your minimalist shoe collection and what's in it? This is my list.
I was just reflecting on this and realized that my minimalist shoe collection has grown significantly - although not as extensive as many, I'm sure. This is my minimal-list (haha, with apologies to
minimal-list.org)
For the longest time, I had only my Merrell Trail Glove 1, then the TG3, then TG5 (all of which I still have).
Minimalist shoes:
- Merrell TG1: mostly collecting dust now. Comfortable, but the insole is too grippy so my ankle/no-show socks get pulled down when walking/running in them.
- Merrell TG3: kept by the front door for dog-walking duties. Wearing holes in the soles.
- Merrell TG5: still wear these occasionally for running, but soles are pretty smooth at this point. Wear them if I want a cushier ride.
- Whitin knit sneaker in gray: casual shoes, although they are getting fairly ratty after about 2 years of use. Soles aren't worn out since I tend to walk "gently" but uppers have seen better days.
- Xero Z-Trail sandals: sometimes run in them, mostly for summer wear (beach, pool, water, when it's stupid hot and I don't want to wear shoes)
- Lems Chukka suede: mostly fall/winter business casual/casual. Silicone waterproofing spray works wonders. A little clown-shoe shaped, but not too bad. Definitely the thickest soles of any shoe I own that can reasonably be called minimalist, although they could fit into the next category below.
- Xero Kelso: vball/bball court shoes, casual shoes. Definitely on the stiffer side compared to the TG, Whitin, and VG. Still comfortable and work well for court sports. Look retro-cool too, imo.
- Merrell Vapor Glove 6: my current running shoes, just got them recently so not a lot of miles yet. Much more ground feel than my TGs, a little more than the Whitins. Grips quite well, upper is a little too "puffy." Hasn't felt too hot on runs, but we'll see when we hit summer how they feel.
- Vivobarefoot Tracker II FG: from Revivo, primarily used for work around the house - yard work, climbing up on my roof, etc. I believe they were "good" condition and you can tell they've been worn. Laces are weird twisty kinds, but they seem to work well enough. I've worn them a few times and so far so good. They came pre-oiled, but I'll probably sno-seal them at some point in the near future.
Minimal-ish shoes
- Alta Lone Peak 4 (?) waterproof mid (originally bought as a potential winter running shoe, hated running in them; became my winter boot for a couple of seasons; still wear them, but only occasionally. The waterproofing wears out quickly, but silicone spray helps a lot)
- INOV-8 X-Talon. I forget which number, but they're about 4-5 model years old and I use them for field sports like softball, ultimate, touch/flag football, and soccer. Not a lot of touch for soccer, but I suck so it's ok. Fairly snug, but that helps since feet don't slide around in them. Much more comfortable to wear than my old football and soccer cleats, both of which are super narrow.
What I don't have (yet):
- Black dress shoes. Thinking about the Birchbury Brenston or Carets. Honestly, don't love the oxford style of the VBF Ra II for use with a suit. Cap toe is more to my liking.
- Brown dress shoes. My old dress shoes are REALLY high quality and have broken in so nicely, that my feet feel just fine in them. A little snug, but not uncomfortable at all. They're dark brown and match my full grain leather belt really well, also :)
- Another pair or two of casual sneakers: I'll probably get another pair or two of either Whitins or similar sneakers of hopefully higher quality at some point in the near future. Whitins are attractive because they're so cheap and I'm pretty light on my shoes, even when running hundreds of miles in them.

2023.04.13 18:37 Passionclarity How is the first touch compared to retail?
Basically im wondering how outer constructions of these reps feel in regards to the feelings of your first touch and general touch with the ball compared to the retail cleats?
Especially the nike ones? For example i have a pair of mercurial vapor 13 PRO's, if i were to buy a rep ELITE version, would it at least feel like retail PROs or do they feel more CLUB or ACADEMY? becuase i hate the way the touch feels at these lower levels.
any input would appreciated, thank you

2023.04.13 12:41 Constant_Marketing83 Half size up on adidas speedportal.1
It's my first time buying cleats in a while as im getting back to football. So I was wondering how the half size up works (as recommended by adidas for the speedortal series). My exact foot measurement is 24.7 cm but i usually add allowance, so my last cleats were 6.5 nike vapors (25.5 cm in size chart), and when translated to adidas sizing, this is 7.5. The fit on the vapor is quite snug so I was wondering if I should get 8 or just 7.5 since this already has 0.8 cm allowance or roughly half size up from my actual foot measurement.

2023.04.10 18:40 cheap_as_shit Workshop - Rockwool & vapor barriers
I am getting ready to insulate the walls in my workshop which is part of an unfinished basement that resides in zone 4A.
My reading of the code is that a vapor barrier is not required but a class II vapor barrier (kraft-faced batts) is recommenced. I plan to use rockwool which doesn't come with a kraft-faced option that I am aware of. I do plan to heat/cool this area with a mini-split when we finish the rest the basement.
I don't plan to use drywall, instead I will use T-111 or OSB or some other wood structure that I can screw into for french cleats and other organization systems. I want something that I can remove when necessary to run additional power lines or anything else when re-arranging the shop. For this reason I am really not interested in any sort of 6mm poly or other barrier as that will make it difficult to work in. I like the idea that I can unscrew the T111, pull out the rockwool, do what I need to do and then put the rockwool back in.
While it is not required, I usually tend to learn more towards the "recommended" rather than the required when doing things.
I have read other posts on this forum, but they were mostly about doing this in finished spaces with drywall.
With this setup of T-111 instead of drywall how important is it to have a vapor barrier? Instead of doing a vapor barrier would I be fine if I left a small gap at the bottom and top or if I drilled a couple of holes in the T-111 so air could flow within the bay?

2023.03.28 00:30 Boiled_Wtr Looking for a cleat
These are the first cleats I am getting, looking for FG, $160 and under. I got the Mercurial Vapor 15 Academies in a size 13 and my regular Nike size is 12.5. There was one thumb width between the tips of the shoe and my big toe. When I walked my heel seemed to slip slightly too. I am not sure if they are too big but it felt a little awkward in them. I don't know if I should go to 12.5 in cleats and I am open to Nike and Adidas, any suggestions?

2023.03.22 20:28 EvidenceFit Boots gotten from Volta has now disappeared in pro clubs after new update
| Just downloaded the new update for FIFA 23 and launched pro clubs just to see that the boots I used on my pro was gone. Not to be found in Pro Clubs anymore, only in Volta. They just removed the Shadow Cleats from Pro Clubs. Don't remember if I got them from the season pass or bought them from the Featured tab in Volta Shop. But if I used thousands of points on some boots just for EA to remove them it was a complete waste! submitted by EvidenceFit to fifaclubs [link] [comments] |

2023.01.23 20:12 xMataco Issue with superfly 9 elites? Or is it just me
I can’t tell if these pair are defective or not as I don’t have a retailer near me that has these boots in stock. So, can anyone tell me if this is abnormal for these cleats? Bought them a month ago.
Anyways, the heel stitching seems to form a nub that absolutely digs into my heel and creates these massive blisters. So the problem isn’t necessarily associated with slippage. I even tried grip socks with a runners knot. I’d hoped this nub would soften up as I broke the cleats in or my heel would get used to the boot. But it’s been over a month and it seems to be getting worse. I took a good inspection of the problem area and that’s when I noted that the stitching protrudes abnormally inwards. I would honestly find it hard to believe if this was something intentionally made this way as it’s be nearly impossible for anyone to wear comfortably. If anyone has superfly 9s (vapor 15s should be the same I assume), can you please share your experience?

2023.01.17 08:09 Cynarit Discomfort from Bont shoe t-nuts
In my search for an appropriately wide cycling shoe, I picked up a pair of double wide Bont Vapor+, which arrived today. I'm very happy with the fit. The issue I'm having is that I can feel the t-nuts that the cleats screw into against the soles of my feet, even with the inner sole in place.
I could feel the t-nuts even before I put the cleats on, so I don't think the problem is that the cleat bolts are too long.
Has anyone else experienced something similar, with Bonts or another brand of cycling shoe? If so, were you able to fix it? Thanks!
Edit - I have swapped out the Bont inner sole for my own aftermarket one, but the issue remains...

2023.01.08 19:21 nvk1196 Unpopular opinion: Nike Mercurial is extremely uncomfortable.
I got the Superfly 14 last year and it took 4 weeks of blister to break in the cleat. It still didn't feel right afterward. I felt like my agility and ball feel decreased by half vs playing with my cheap 50$ indoor boots.
Fast forward and I just got the Vapor 15 for the Air Zoom last week and the same problem appear. I'm planning to switch to Adidas SpeedPortal or Puma Future 1.4, I heard they are way more comfortable.
*Yes, I got my shoes size correct. I put my feet on a white piece of paper, outline it, then measure it properly.

2022.12.29 01:38 ReaganRewop fit comparison between Nike Phantom GT vs zoom mercurial vapor 15
Hey folks, I currently own a pair of Nike Phantom GT pro in the Size UK 12 (EU 47.5). A snug fit for me at the moment.
I'm planning to purchase Nike zoom mercurial vapor 15. My relative would be buying this internationally for me. So I have no options for return or warranty. Since this is also not available in my country, it is not possible for me to try it out.
How would be the fit comparison for both these models? I pressume I have wide foot due to how phantom GT sides fit me.
Another option I have is to go for Phantom GT 2 pro but buy it from unisports site, is thier service and product, safe and reliable?
Note: specifically looking at Turf type cleats.
