2023.06.06 19:04 therealphoodie The “Ultimate Loser” of Every NFL Postseason (Since 1978)
The “ultimate loser” is determined by the team that wins the Super Bowl. The Super Bowl champion beats the Super Bowl runner-up, who beats the Conference Championship runner-up, who beats someone else in the divisional round, who either (depending on where that last team is seeded) is the ultimate loser or beats someone else in the wild card round (who, in this case, is the ultimate loser).
For example, in 2013, the Seahawks beat the Broncos, who beat the Patriots, who beat the Colts, who beat the Chiefs, who are the ultimate losers of that postseason.
I’ve decided to begin with 1978 since that was the debut of the 5th seed and 2nd wild card, which created 4 rounds of the NFL playoffs. That being said, I hope you enjoy the post!

2023.06.06 17:33 strange-humor Troubleshooting reboots in ASUS ProArt X670E Creator - Ryzen 7950X build
PC Build: - ASUS ProArt X670E Creator - Ryzen 7950X - Corsair RMX RM1000x - G.Skill RipJaws S5 Series 64GB (2x32GB) 5600 CL36-36-36-89, in A2, B2 positions.
GPU: - EVGA 3090 Ti FTW3 Gaming - also tried EVA 1080 Ti
Storage: - WD_BLACK 1TB SN850X - Crucial P3 Plus 2TB - Samsung 980 2TB
I had assumed that the power spikes I'd heard about with the 3090 Ti were causing reboots. So I swapped to 1080 Ti and started Windows setup again. Getting the same results. Received the 3090 Ti used at a decent price and looks pristine. However, have never validated it in a system as I don't have one powerful enough to use it other than this build.
During setting and sometimes after it is finished and doing Windows startup, it acts like I hit the reset button and I'm going through POST again.
Plan to pull off the Noctua D15 cooler and drop something smaller in as I troubleshoot and will pull all but the WD_BLACK drive to reduce my troubleshooting footprint.
Does anyone use a Linux boot of some sort for getting logs immediately and possibly seeing what is my fault? Don't have spare parts in the AM5 and DDR5 to swap and try things out.
Edit: BIOS was 11/2022 so updated to latest first thing.
Edit2: Able to get stable with STUPID low CPU and RAM clocks set. Loading Windows and will play some more on slowing bringing up until I can find the culprit.

2023.06.06 16:37 sliuoa I need suggestions for Motherboard, PSU, Case for my new parts
Hello, so my goal is to build the best value / best bang for my buck PC for my first build. Basically, I want to build a PC with the best deals I can find.
Here are the parts I found that I want to use:
GPU: GIGABYTE Radeon RX 6600 EAGLE 8G Graphics Card, WINDFORCE 3X Cooling System, 8GB 128-bit GDDR6 - $250
CPU: Intel Core i3-12100F - Core i3 12th Gen Alder Lake Quad-Core 3.3 GHz LGA 1700 58W Desktop Processor - $135
RAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (2 X 8GB) DDR4 3600 MHz (PC4-28800) C18 1.35V Desktop Memory - $54I also found this deal but don't know if it's worth the price difference: Corsair Vengeance LPX 32GB (2 X 16GB) DDR4 3200 (PC4-25600) C16 1.35V Desktop Memory - $90
SSD: Kingston NV2 1TB M.2 2280 NVMe Internal SSD PCIe 4.0 Gen 4x4 Up to 3500 MB/s SNV2S/1000G - $63
I also found this SSD but don't know if it's worth the price difference: WD_BLACK 1TB SN770 NVMe Internal Gaming SSD Solid State Drive - Gen4 PCIe, M.2 2280, Up to 5,150 MB/s - WDS100T3X0E - $70
Please let me know if my choices are dumb.
I'm looking for the cheapest possible case, PSU, and motherboard that would be compatible with these parts. I would like the motherboard to have wifi.
Thank you!

2023.06.06 16:37 CorwinJovi Is the 2020 27” iMac still worth getting in 2023?
I am looking to replace my old 2013 27” iMac which is just slowing down to a crawl now. It is our family computer now mostly used for watching Netflix or Hulu, playing Stardew Valley, Plants vs Zombies or other older games like these. My kids school work and the occasion photo editing with photoshop or designing flyers for school with indesign. Although these stopped working a while ago so I was thinking of switching to affinity programs.
I was thinking of getting a refurbished 2020 27” iMac with the i7 and just upgrading the ram myself.
I’d like to get at least 5 years out of the computer from now.
I like the idea of the all in one computer and so does my wife.
Other options I was looking at was the new Mac mini pro with upgraded ram or the new studio base model that just was announced with an apple display. But that will run me around 3500 and I was looking to keep the cost more around $2000.
Is there an all in one display. With a. Decent camera for zoom classes if needed and a decent set of spreaders built in? The speakers that threw 2013 has are good for us. I just don’t want to add external speakers.
Sorry for the lengthy post I was just really hoping for a 27” iMac replacement and was bummed when they didn’t come out with one.
I should mention I want at least a 27 inch display. I was looking at the Samsung m8? Monitor but I see it having mixed reviews. Hence why I was looking at getting the iMac

2023.06.06 15:50 Leainahtan Upgrading from Ryzen 5 2600X
I've got a few components left over from an old configuration, and I'm planning to rebuild my machine. At the moment, I'm thinking of changing my processor for a Ryzen 5 5600X, which looks energetically efficient and powerful enough to run current games.
I also have a 3060 Ti GPU, which I plan to keep, as I think it will be more than sufficient for my needs. As for the rest, I have 16 GO of ram clocked at 3000MHz in ddr4, an SSD M.2 but no more motherboard and power supply.
For budgetary reasons, I was initially planning to buy a new motherboard and power supply, just to have a small machine, and with the time and money I would have acquired, buy a new processor and new ram (probably 2*16 GB or 4*8 at 3600 MHz).
But several questions came to mind as time went by:
- Is it still worth buying a new processor with an AM4 socket, knowing that the AM5 socket has been around since 2022? Perhaps it would be more interesting for future upgrades to have a motherboard with an AM5 socket?
- Knowing that consumer motherboards are dual-channel, is it really useful, if I want 32 gb of ram, to have 4 barettes of 8 gb?
I'm not closed to intel processors either if you have any good suggestions! (Although I find AMD processors more affordable). I don't just do gaming, I'm also a developer by trade, so maybe one of the two manufacturers performs better in both areas combined! Also, if you have any suggestions for motherboards with the processor you suggest, I'd love to hear from you!
Thanks for reading, and for your time, see you soon!

2023.06.06 13:38 WLANtasticBeasts X13 vs T14: which to keep?
So after my previous post about finding a barely used X13, I started reading more about soldered RAM (16GB) and concerns about memory for future proofing led me to look for / find another deal on a T14 (32GB).
I currently have both of these and plan to sell one of them (or possibly give to a family member):
- X13 Gen 2 (2022 mfg date)
- Magnesium chassis (beautiful)
- 13" screen (non-touch)
- 16GB RAM
- Ryzen 7 pro
- 512GB SSD
- Wi-Fi 6 (no Ethernet jack)
- T14 (Gen 1? 2019 mfg date)
- Black plastic chassis (eh)
- 14" touch-capable screen
- 32GB RAM
- Ryzen 5 pro
- 512GB SSD
- Ethernet and Wi-Fi (not sure if it has 6/AX)
I've compared both of them with the exact same number of Chrome tabs open (15 YouTube tabs all plazing videos), VS Code running, Jupyter notebooks running, etc. and noticed that the X13 was using up to about 50% of its memory but very little of its processor (unsurprising) whereas the T14 was using a lot more processor but only about 20 to 30% of its memory (unsurprising again).
Also it appears that my concerns about soldered RAM might be unwarranted because I was testing the X13 again the other day with over 15 Chrome tabs open, multiple vs code instances, multiple Jupyter notebook instances, two OBS studio instances, VMware open and installing Linux mint, and a bunch of Microsoft office apps open at the same time too.
The memory (X13) never hit 100% in task manager although it got up to 97%.
So yeah I'm really torn. I really like the small form factor of the X13 and it can drive dual monitors, run multiple VMs, has great battery life, is newer, and is very lightweight whereas the T14 has has a bigger screen, bigger keyboard (doesn't matter to me), is heavier, and feels a bit 'cheaper'.
Tldr: ...which to keep - the newer, sleeker X13 I adore with less RAM and Ryzen 7 or the older, chunkier T14 with more RAM and Ryzen 5?*
Curious what you all have to say about it. Either way, they're both incredible machines and I feel very lucky to have a chance to try both of them.

2023.06.06 13:20 boro52 Z590-A PRO PC restarts after few seconds when XMP is enabled
Hi,
I have the same problem as described by someone in 2017 with GB MB:
https://www.overclock.net/threads/xmp-causing-strange-restart-behavior.1636911/ This post mentiones another one where the upgrade / downgrade of BIOS helped:
https://forum.giga-byte.co.uk/index.php?topic=18449.0
TLDR:
When I enable XMP profile and then proceed with shut down of the PC it stays off for around 5 seconds and then just casually boots up again. Nothing is changing in BIOS to defaults, nothing in windows, just normal startup happens.
I have spent few days looking at windows settings / bios settings about the "quick" startup because that was most of the guides I could find in the internet. But today I've just come across the posts above, that are explaining my issue exactly. As I was detaching everything in my PC (internals / externals) and I have noticed when XMP went back to default after playing around with the RAM, issue stopped occuring and after I set it back to enabled issue comes back.
I've also updated BIOS to the newest - 7D09v18 2022-09-30 - no change.
Has anyone came across that issue and solved it somehow?

2023.06.06 12:46 radrzan G14 (2022) with 40GB RAM
Hi, I'm planning on buying G14 (2022) as it is a really good deal but it is almost out of stock where I live. I finally found an offer with an R9-6900HS / RX6800S and 40(!)GB of RAM (4800MHz). That last one raised my eyebrow... I contacted the store and it is their "upgrade" as they changed the 8GB stick for 32GB. Has anyone of you heard about such a weird configuration? Is it even supported? I assume that if it is done correctly it should work but it is such an unusual move that I suspect that they just wanted to get rid of outdated RAM sticks. On the other hand it is a legit online store that I'm familiar with.
FYI: they list it as GA402RK-L8151WA-40.

2023.06.06 12:44 thcerry Need a pc for studying and working in Compositing VFX
What will you be doing with this PC? Be as specific as possible, and include specific games or programs you will be using.
- Studying and eventually working in VFX (compositing) using: Maya, Arnold, Photoshop, Nuke, Substance Painter.
What is your maximum budget before rebates/shipping/taxes?
- 3000/3500 if I need to. (I want something that can work easily with a junior composer workflow if I have to work from home. Can upgrade minor things like SSD or Ram in the future easily)
When do you plan on building/buying the PC? Note: beyond a week or two from today means any build you receive will be out of date when you want to buy.
- In the next 2-3 months. I need it to be ready in late September.
What, exactly, do you need included in the budget? (ToweOS/monitokeyboard/mouse/etc)
Which country (and state/province) will you be purchasing the parts in? If you're in US, do you have access to a Microcenter location?
If reusing any parts (including monitor(s)/keyboard/mouse/etc), what parts will you be reusing? Brands and models are appreciated.
- I will reuse my Logitech mouse and my HP 2UD96AA#ABB monitor. (if you think I have to buy a new monitor I can take it in consideration)
Will you be overclocking? If yes, are you interested in overclocking right away, or down the line? CPU and/or GPU?
Are there any specific features or items you want/need in the build? (ex: SSD, large amount of storage or a RAID setup, CUDA or OpenCL support, etc)
- Would like to have SSD for OS and Programs.
Do you have any specific case preferences (Size like ITX/microATX/mid-towefull-tower, styles, colors, window or not, LED lighting, etc), or a particular color theme preference for the components?
- I'd like a mid-tower size with a window.
Do you need a copy of Windows included in the budget? If you do need one included, do you have a preference?
- Yes, I do. Wndows 11 Pro.
Extra info or particulars: Starting a VFX master and I need a PC build for it. I'd like to have a PC that I will able to use for work (composing) once I ended the master. Never built a PC so if you think that it will be better go straight with a 3500 budget I am okay with that. Thank you!
