Hello! I am looking to get all of my windows tinted (minus the windshield) in my Mazda CX-5. I got a few quotes from some shops and need to decide which one to get.
Shop 1: $419 ceramic ir
Shop 2: $480 for LLumar F1 Pinnacle
I would prefer the LLumar one, as it is 40% and not 35% like the ceramic ir due to me having to pass inspections in NC. I have also heard that LLumar tends to be better quality, but some people swear by 3M. I think it’s mainly preference, but correct me if I’m wrong. I don’t like the crystalline series, as that tends to have a brownish hue to it.
On paper the 3M looks better, but the shop that is selling LLumar says theirs is slightly better so I could be looking at the wrong numbers. They also sell the CTX for $420, but that’s worse than the 3M ceramic ir. Help me decide.

I live in a state where it is legal to grow cannabis and gift up to one ounce but not sell. I give a lot of what I grow to friends for medical purposes, as the medical dispensaries here charge high prices for often mediocre product.
Additionally, when a friend or acquaintance finds out that I grow and expresses interest, I always give them a small jar of my most recent flower.
What surprises me is the great number of folks who accept that jar and never say another word about it. They don’t say whether they enjoyed it, what they liked about it, etc. They just presumably smoke it and never say another word. This makes me not want to give them more flower again.
It is possible that my flower isn’t very good, but I think it’s pretty solid and so do the folks who do give me feedback. It’s certainly as good as the dispensary bud and possibly better — this is not a very high bar, as stated above, but it’s something.
Am I just being overly sensitive? I feel like if someone gives you a product they’ve grown and crafted by hand, whether it’s cannabis, food, or handicrafts, the polite thing to do is to get back to them on how the product was enjoyed. But maybe I’m entirely wrong about this. What do you think?

My wife and I have been together for 7 years now, married for 6. We have a 4 year old special needs son, and a 17 year old who is my step son. The last month or so there has been no physical contact except some side hugs, and pecks. Reason being is that she has said she does not feel the romantic spark "right now". The past few years have been rough, we have lost a few pregnancies, and our son who is 4 now is our rainbow baby. He is on the spectrum and requires constant attention, not including doctors appointments therapies etc etc. My step son is 17, basically pretends the 4 year old doesn't exist, and is our relationship hasn't always been the best over the years. I've been working from home since 4 year old has been born, so with that I have been the default parent ever since. Just this last year, she got a tummy tuck, ear surgery for her hearing, covid, 4 vacations. So basically it's been me 95% of the time for basic every day care, preschool, doctors appts. My health has taken a major turn as well, anxiety, some depression, insecurity, self image issues etc. Two months ago, we had the talk. She is unhappy, she's worried about the rest of her life making the wrong choice by sticking with me. She said that she wants to be more social, doesn't want a partner that gets anxious about going on trips, feels like I hold her back. Needless to say, was extremely caught off guard and upset. I have stood by and taken care of her through thick and thin (no pun intended) am the primary care taker of a special needs child, all social events included. Also consistently being a great step father to her child, I still attend his sporting events, give him rides, talk about his friends and gfs, spot him cash, still haven't told his mom after I caught him trying to sneak put, list goes on. We have always been great communicators and best friends, and now she's cutting me off. Leaving me feel already isolated because of my work status, and being a parent of a child with a severe autism honestly kind of kills your social life. She recently got a new job, has been enjoying losing weight and getting back in shape, working on herself. Meanwhile, she said that it feels like I don't have an identity, and without her I wouldn't have any clear direction, social life. She requested I work on myself as well, and find my happiness. After saying this she is basically gone from the house for 7 days in a row, leaving in the morning, going to the gym and getting home after the 4 year old is in bed. The past few days I have reverted to self care and self defense mode, obviously without not caring for my son. I'm starting to pull away from her as well, I feel like the whole situation and her outlook is the problem, I have put aside all my wants and needs for years to support our family and our kids, and now I'm being told that I don't have an identity and she doesn't want to be with someone that like that. She is a social butterfly, I am more of a homebody but I dont mind I chose this identity, to be a loving husband and father and to give up hobbies, friends etc. To put it in more perspective, I have gone on 2 trips alone in 3 years. She has about 8, not including going out with her girlfriends often. In the past 3 months I can count on 1 hand where she put the 4 year old to bed, or woke up with him. Just this week my son and I have been to a doc appt, grocery shopping twice, pick ups and drops off for the 2 days a week he is in daycare. I took him to his favorite parks, and even to an indoor jungle gym alone, while also dealing with meltdowns while also working full time. At this point even if she wants to reconcile the forced self reflection has put some things to the forefront maybe she wasn't anticipating me realizing or thinking about. I'm by no means perfect, I'll be the first to admit that, constantly going on these missions to change myself for unclear standards and expectations has made me better and has helped my anxiety. Other people out there have the same thing going on or something similar? I just don't know anymore, writing this out makes me feel better at least.

32F from California, I'm looking for a long term friend in the US, but I want it to be 35+ because I don't want to discuss topics with kids I don't understand.
I usually enjoy working out, skiing, traveling, shopping, scuba diving, hiking, camping, and pretty much anything outdoors!
How do I look? Only 5'5 weighs 108 lbs and has yellow hair. Maybe we can talk.

~ Why do you want to quit? ~ Take a few minutes to really think about this. A good place to start is to write down all the negative consequences gaming has had on your life. Lost your sense of purpose? Lack of sleep? Poor grades? Hurt relationships? There are no wrong answers here. Everyone’s journey into this mess is different, so be honest here. Take the big hitters on your list and turn them into your thesis statement of sorts. “I’m quitting gaming because _____________.” You fill in that blank with what feels most impactful for you (or feel free you make your own). It should hit you like a truck with revelation, motivation and a feeling of gigachad every time you say it.
~ Meaningful Goals ~ Not everyone’s goal is to get shredded, read a book, or be more social (although these are great goals)! A meaningful goal for you will be something that allows you to cross off one of the big hitters in your “why”. Any goal will seem easier to achieve if it’s specific. Instead of “I want to get in shape this year”, say “I want to be below 200 pounds and be able to do 30 consecutive pushups by Christmas this year, because the whole family is going to the beach in Florida and it would awesome to not be mistaken for a beached whale.” Ok maybe that was too harsh, but you get the point.
Long term goals like this are marathons, not sprints. Breaking up your big goal into smaller ones will make everything seem less daunting. Maybe aim for losing 8 pounds and doing 5 push ups in a row this month.
I won’t spew any more goal setting tips here, but definitely go look them up later. There are loads more that will help you.
~ Handling Cravings ~ While they are strong now, they do get weaker. The best tip that anyone on this sub can give you is this: Immediately start the hunt for replacement hobbies.
“All things are permissible, but not all things beneficial” - 1 Cor. 10:23. As you try different things, you may find you come across a lot of hobbies that seemed really fun for a week, but then start to die off. A remedy for this is to try to find hobbies that align with your “why” and your goals. The activities you choose should be fun and beneficial. If not, they can become dead weight in your life like video games were.
The worst thing you can do is sit there, and do nothing but play a highlight reel in your head about your games. Yes, you did have fun and exciting moments with your friends. However, all of that was with pixels. There are countless people out there who would love to have those same fun and exciting moments with you, but in the real world. Why is the real world better? Because the real world isn’t just a bunch of stimulation, it’s satisfying. You can appreciate flowers, craft a complex dinner, or shake hands with a friend after negotiating a killer Monopoly deal, and not feel empty inside afterwards.
For most of us here, the only thing stopping us is our own thoughts.
~ The part no one wants to hear ~ Self control is the root of the issue. If we could just press the power button and live life with no craving or problems, none of us would be here. Self discipline is a major problem for all of us. The journey to freedom from video games will require raw, ugly will power at times. There will be days when you just have to say no, walk out of the room. There will be days when you just have to suck it up. There will be day when no productivity life hack will work. And it’s not fun. “No discipline is enjoyable while it is happening - it’s painful! But afterward there will be a peaceful harvest of right living for those who are trained in this way” Hebrews 12:13.
Stay strong my friends. You don’t have to do this alone. All of us and God are on your side, and we want to see you win!

My husband and I live on an acre and we have 5 egg-laying chickens. Up until today, they have been completely free ranging except at night when we lock them in their coop. It's nice to see them peck around and enjoy themselves freely, however, they get chicken poop EVERYWHERE. On the porch, in my garden, in our driveway, all over the grass, in OUR NEIGHBOR'S driveway. Our neighbor said he doesn't mind them going over there, but I feel like he's just being nice and I know how annoying it is to step in chicken poop. They get in my flower bed, kick out the mulch, and occasionally will break one of my flowers. We've had a few instances where our dog will chase them/nip at them.
Next week I'm throwing a birthday party for our 4-year-old. It's going to be mostly outside with a slip-n-slide and kiddy pool. I don't want our guests to have to worry about stepping in chicken poop. I decided enough was enough and I put up a chicken run with t-posts and plastic poultry netting. It's a really nice size where they will have plenty of room to enjoy themselves. My husband is throwing an absolute fit about it. He's saying he is going to rip it down and all my hard work was for nothing. He says he enjoys the chickens following him around the yard and doing whatever they want. He says the chicken run is going to be a huge eye sore and is ruining the vibe of the backyard.
I think he is being a huge man baby. It seems extremely selfish to me. Am I the asshole?

Hi I’m looking to replace my worn Columbia hiking shoes but the shops (eg Columbia outlet at Velocity, World of Sports) seem to have closed down. The only one I can find online is Outdoor Life at Funan. Are there any other shops retailing Columbia hiking shoes?

Located in California.
Car is a 2002 Lexus. I was not aware that the seller was required to provide smog certification at the time of the sale. I was assured by the seller it would pass smog. After I bought the car a slew of other problems arose that they did not disclose(dead battery, overheating, overdue for tons of maintenance). I went to get it smogged and was told it failed due to a missing vacuum tube part plus a couple sensor errors. I've contacted the seller and they offered to get me all the parts and get it smogged at their family's shop. But at this point, I don't know if I want to deal with more headache with this car. Can I request to return the car and get my money back? Or am I obligated to let them try to get it to pass smog? The title transfer has not happened but they filled out the online release of liability form.
