2023.06.05 16:43 shift2run Living situation vent, re: rural and impoverished area
CW: politics, homophobia, mention of racism, mention of past suicidal ideation
I spent seven months in Los Angeles without a job. I picked up dogwalking and was making it work as best as I could, applying all the fucking time to jobs, until I crashed my car. (All were safe, no passengers). My ex kicked me out a month before my lease was up, my family had to traverse across the entire country to come get me, I now live with my mom who was abusive to me as a kid.
Got a job. Good, right? Nay. 10/hr 9-5 is not enough for me to live on when I take into account saving to GTFO, therapy, and caring for my dog. I have $28 to my name at the end of every week, and that's with my therapist's special emergency discount rate, due to end in June. I will not be able to afford her once that ends. At the time of employment my boss said we would have a re-negotiation of wages after three months, now he's acting like that was never ever said when I KNOW it was. I am doing the work of three people, at *least*. But it is the only available job in this shithole that is *remotely* relevant to my field.
Now I have to take up waitressing on the weekends, and dealing with the racist-homophobic-overly religious-snake handling Pentacostal public at large here is NOT it for my mental health, not to mention time lost to take care of any personal needs. I'm saving my after-work hours for a potential job in arts education for kids that would actually probably make me happy, but would pay the least of all. (Not excited to be living in the closet because if I work with kids as a gay human, it is actually *likely* here that I'll be injured in some capacity. We had a lot of local folks arrested on Jan 6th. I already had some guy lean over my table and ask me threateningly if I 'knew of any democrats around here' - me, with purple hair and tattoos and piercings - he knew what he was doing and who he was threatening).
On top of that, I am somehow ineligible for state benefits with my current 10/hr pay, meaning I do not get my anxiety medication much less the dream of getting medicated for my diagnosed ADHD. I nearly died last year without treatment for my anxiety, and that was while living surrounded by my friends and loved ones, places to go and things to do, sunshine to walk in. Being gay in my homophobic bible belt area? I see that working out extremely great for my mental health.
I can't find a decent used car for what I have saved, I'm stranded and beholden to borrowing my mothers to get to work.
And also, THE POST OFFICE HOURS HERE ARE 8:30-3:30. I needed to pick up super important certified mail *precisely* at 8:30 to be at work on time. I get inside and wait five minutes and I can hear them banging around in there but they won't open the fucking window. I didn't say the curse words I wanted to, but *fuck*. That was the cherry on top of my morning.
I hate it here, I hate my life, I fought so hard to never ever fucking return here and *here I sit*.
Fuck me gently with a chainsaw. (reference link)

2023.06.05 16:43 Hanzilol This is going to confuse a lot of you, but I'm gonna do pros AND cons
Good: The atmosphere is phenomenal. I can't complain at all about the game visually, the cutscenes, the music, and overall environment from a cinematic standpoint.
Bad: This isn't an action/adventure AAA console title (or isn't supposed to be), it's an ARPG from a line of genre-defining ARPGs. That said, I feel like they sacrificed a LOT of playability to flex visuals. The mount pathing/general player pathing is rough. NPCs block you, terrain blocks you in unpredictable ways, you feel a lot of instances of loss of control of your character when you shouldn't.
Good: The campaign is engaging from a narrative standpoint. It tells a relatively good story fairly well. It has an amazing voice cast. Even from the perspective of somebody who cares nearly zero about the story, I found myself engaged at times, which is more than I can say for most games.
Bad: The amount of standing around waiting for an NPC to finish talking, open a door, speak horadric, mix a pot, etc. It was a running joke with my friend that the primary function of NPCs in this game was to open doors. It REALLY makes the campaign feel like a chore at times. Frequently, it's unclear where the next part of the quest is because an NPC is sitting there silently, doing something that's unclear, and I've already walked away only to have a quest marker pop up in the location I just left. This is coupled with the already tedious amount of backtracking required in the game in general. This needs to be streamlined a little better. This is especially going forward, if we're to be expected to complete the campaign again for seasons.
Good: I was on the fence and leaning more negative on the gameplay/gearing loop, but I'm starting to see some of the merits. I do enjoy the world tier system of gradually providing more activities and a higher difficulty with a decent scaling of rewards. I think it's a workable base, and has a lot of potential for improvement in upcoming seasons/expansions.
Bad: The side quests aren't fun to me. I'd probably focus on them more if I wasn't limited to 20 in my log. I do them as just that, "side quests". If I happen to be in the area for something I'm already doing, I'll stop and complete a side quest. Otherwise, I don't feel much incentive to seek them out. Limiting quest log to 20 makes that difficult with all the zone swapping we're doing. Dungeon design is a bit rough around the edges. The "kill all" objective is tedious. Backtracking within dungeons is rough. As I've seen others mention here, I'd like to see it become a more simplified process. I get the need to "reinvent" when it comes to endgame activities, but I feel like this is one of the directions where they've tried to do too much.
That said, overall I like the game, but don't love it. I'll keep playing well into end-game and probably return for season start. I feel like it's going to take a back seat to other ARPGs for me, ultimately, but certainly has the potential to become a higher priority.

2023.06.05 16:43 camworld 2015 LTD shakes at 65mph+
I have a 2015 Subaru Forester 2.5i Limited with 125K miles on it. I recently had the following work done:
- July 2022: Two new tires
- September 2022: New Lower Control Arms (front)
- November 2022: New rear struts, professional 4-wheel alignment
- February: 2023: New front struts
- April 2023: Another 4-wheel alignment
- May 2023: Two new tires to match the tires in July
I've taken the car back to the local tire place (one of the national chains) at least 3 times, and have asked them to diagnose why the car shakes at 65mph and higher. I can put my smartphone in the dash holder and it visually vibrates. You can see it move and can also feel the vibration in the steering wheel. At 70mph, it's more pronounced. At 80mph, it's very noticeable. There's also a low gravelly sound, but I think that's just the sound of the tires.
Their technicians have looked everything over and can't find anything wrong. The struts are brand new. The tires are new or nearly new. The control arms are new. The alignment has been done twice. The tires are properly balanced.
I asked them what to do, since they can't find anything wrong. They literally said, "Take it somewhere else." I'm chalking this up to them being lazy.
What else can I have a different shop look at to diagnose why this vehicle shakes at higher speeds? All of my searches lead me to things that have already been replaced or tuned properly.

2023.06.05 16:43 andrew1012 How are your PC sales going?
Just out of curiosity, because I know plenty of you like me build and sell computers as a hobby. I’ve noticed the trend of computers moving a bit more slowly, even fairly priced systems are having trouble moving. Especially systems over $1,000 are sitting for months.
Have you guys noticed this? Are you rethinking buying and selling until things pick up again? I have noticed PCs under $400 sell like crazy but it’s difficult to put together a decent build and still make some profit from those.
I would love to get everyone’s thoughts.

2023.06.05 16:42 DebonairGamingX Secret Money Making Hack no Game developer knew until today. $$$
Unveiling the SECRET MONEY Making HACK turning Old Flash Games to MONEY PRINTERS
Remember the golden era of online gaming when platforms like Newgrounds captivated players with a plethora of exciting Flash games? Unfortunately, the deprecation of Flash has rendered many of these games unplayable. But what if there was a way to revive these classics and even turn them into a lucrative opportunity? In this article, we will reveal a secret money-making hack that no game developer knew until today. Brace yourself as we delve into the world of resurrecting old Flash games and capitalizing on their nostalgic appeal.
I am a man on a mission of unlocking the infamous "Passive income" a though it has been alluding me for years I think I have found the answer. Sparked by two videos by great game devs I set out even more feverishly to finally succeed. While spending a little more time procrastinating on the development of a card type inventory system for a game I am developing I decided, as most do, to partake in a few YouTube videos all about game development and eventually stumbled upon videos by Jabril who in his video was remaking a legendary DBZ game and HelperWesley who had finally released his rouge like game and amazingly was paid by Newgrounds. NEWGROUNDS??? HELL YEAH. So I got right to work...
Before we dive into the money-making aspect, let's briefly understand the demise of Flash. In 2020, Adobe officially ended support for Flash Player, leaving countless Flash games inaccessible. The shift to newer technologies like HTML5 has rendered the Flash format obsolete. However, this presents a unique opportunity for savvy entrepreneurs who can leverage nostalgia and rekindle the magic of these forgotten gems.
To begin this money-making journey, you could research and identify popular old Flash games that hold nostalgic value for players. Websites like Newgrounds, Kongregate, and Armor Games were teeming with such titles. However Jabril did the work for us deciding on DragonballZ Tournament from Cartoon Network's old collection of flash games. The best part about that video is he somehow managed to not finish the game! Linked Here:[
https://youtu.be/JXp7y-JE-e4] So that means there are still not many ways to easily access this classic title. Unless you follow the link at the bottom of the article. Wink wink nudge nudge. No it's not there yet and I'll tell you why as the article progresses.
This article is here not for views but to get you a game up and running on the app store, Google PlayStore and other video game market places as fast as possible so that money can fall into your pockets. In my personal opinion I think that targeting the mobile market is where the bulk of money can be made due to everyone having at least one smarphone.
To maximize the reach and potential revenue of your revived Flash games, it's crucial to optimize them for mobile devices. With the majority of gamers now playing on smartphones and tablets, adapting your games to this platform is a smart move. Consider aspects like touch controls, screen resolutions, and performance optimization for various devices and operating systems. Investing in responsive design and user-friendly interfaces will enhance the gaming experience and attract a larger player base.
When it comes to this game, yes I did literaly just copy and paste the art assets using PicsArt and my Samsung galaxy s23 for editing. From there I imported the pictures to a game engine known as buildbox which is good for prototyping games but due to their high price on the softaware you would have to be certain your game was going to make at least $200 dollars this year to cover the cost. More on circumventing that later. Next is getting the character models which is easy with the hardest part being which models to swipe from the Video game resource sites. 3D models are chosen over 2D because of the ease of animating them using Mixamo or anything similar. For saving time I am only going to program 2 characters while using the silhouettes for other characters "coming soon." Hopefully this kind of advertisements will keep the app on people's phones long enough for me to complete the game. For even more speed I'm using one model as the base model for creating animations and then using the other character's parts to represent those specific characters and provide possible character customization system in future updates. That is of course if I can refrain from being sued.
That part is probably the most important part so let's tackle that as best as we can. First and for most, at least starting off, forget about the money. The longer you aren't making money from your project the more likely you may be able to fly under the radar. Look at the market and see if there are people already using the IP or something similar and see how they may be getting away with this. They may have a licence to use the IP, in this case DBZ, or they may just call it by another name and make the characters look just different enough that you as a viewer couldn't confuse what you've made to be something the official company owning the IP has made. For those who are "getting away" with actually using the IP somehow study just how they are doing it. If, however you have chosen a flash game that is not really owned by anyone officially you need not worry but there may be some flash game creators who have had their work copy righted so it is your responsibilty to investigate further.
Now comes the exciting part—monetizing your Flash games. There are several proven strategies you can employ to generate revenue from your resurrected titles:
a) Advertisements: Implementing targeted advertising within the game or alongside it can generate consistent revenue. Consider partnering with advertising networks like Google AdSense or incorporating rewarded video ads to incentivize players and enhance engagement.
b) In-App Purchases (IAPs):
Introduce optional in-game purchases to enhance the gaming experience. Offer cosmetic upgrades, additional levels, power-ups, or exclusive content that players can purchase to support the game and gain a competitive edge.
c) Sponsorships and Partnerships: Collaborate with relevant brands, influencers, or gaming platforms to sponsor your revived Flash games. Cross-promotion can help attract a larger audience and provide additional revenue streams.
d) Premium Subscriptions: Offer a premium subscription model that provides subscribers with exclusive benefits, such as ad-free gameplay, early access to new releases, or special in-game rewards. This approach can create a recurring revenue stream and foster a loyal community of players.
To ensure the long-term success of your venture, actively engage with the gaming community and leverage social media platforms. Interact with players through forums, gaming communities, and social media channels to gather feedback, address issues, and build a loyal fan base. Regularly update your games with bug fixes, new features, and content expansions to keep players hooked and excited about your offerings.
Lastly release these games to any and every platform you can find. Since the game market is so satuarated these day it is not gaurenteed that your game will be found but if you're very lucky you could be generating money from one game on several platforms. Using the flash games of the past as a template or blueprint also provides for a better approach to learning programming and game development. So it is highly probable that this could be the best business venture for a beginning game developer.
Reviving old Flash games that were once lost to the deprecation of Flash provides a unique opportunity to capitalize on nostalgia and tap into a dedicated player base. By following the steps outlined in this article, you can breathe new life into these classics and turn them into a profitable venture. Embrace the challenge, unleash your creativity, and let the gaming world rediscover the magic of these forgotten treasures.
Now I know that you have now come to the end of the article, and if you have made it this far, I greatly appreciate your views. I had spoken earlier about the high cost of Buildbox's business model when it comes to game development and Buildbox as a game engine overall. In order for one to be able to release games to the Google Play Store or the iOS App Store using Buildbox, it is important that you first pay the $200 a year fee for the software that allows you to distribute your game to platforms like Android Studio, enabling you to place it on Android phones via an APK. However, this cost can be a significant barrier for aspiring indie game developers who may not have the financial means to invest in the software.
Therefore I have two choices. I could make the switch back to Unity3D now or continue to use Buildbox of which I have made the most progress with. I'd much rather continue with Buildbox but I have decided to allow others to help me make that decision by asking for a small contribution to this link [cash.app/$GoodGamerGate].
In a months time i'll be reporting back with the results of the project and this article and if within that time the funds haven't been raised I'll be taking the project to Unity3d. Thanks for reading and let me know what old flash games you would like to play all over again. Maybe we'll make it.

2023.06.05 16:42 Ceramic_Boi The Cult of Gertrude: Part 2
Previous ——Damnation—— Once more, I find myself upon the battlefield. I relish the glory of warfare. My shield is nigh invincible, and my limbs are strong as steel.
We hold ranks close together. Our enemies hurl liquid fire at us, but we hold strong. I charge forward, breaking their ranks and…
I’m… falling.
That can’t be right.
I suddenly feel the searing pain in my side. I rage against the pain.
I hit the ground hard before rising once more. The terrified creature has only a moment to blink before I shove both of my spike-limbs through its torso. I savor the kill. It is rare to find one of their heavy gunners so close to the front.
Just as I start moving on, I feel two solid hits to my back, one after the other.
I try to scream but cannot move my mouth. I thrash, yet remain ever-still. I cry, yet my face remains only wet with the blood of brothers and enemies alike. My shield, once filled with that bright golden glow that marked me as commander, now flickers and fades as my grip slackens.
My body becomes more distant by the second. My senses begin dimming.
I hit the ground, but barely notice.
The figures around me are little more than silhouettes. They keep running forward, as they should. One stops though. Not with a callous regard or a prayer for my soul, but with some simulacrum of care.
“C’mon you useless sack of shit! Get up!” This creature shouts at me, before giving my side a slight kick.
“Get up damnit!” The voice insists, now kneeling over me.
My body jerks and shudders uncontrollably as foreign substances are injected into my abdomen. I hardly notice it.
I was supposed to rise to blessed eternity, but I’m… falling. Deep into the darkness.
Nothing awaits me but an empty void. No hallowed halls, no songs of bravery and courage, just nothingness. The eternal blackness of damnation.
The voice is still there, near silent, nagging, but fading.
“GET THE HELL UP!” I hear shouted into my ear with surprising clarity as my soul rapidly and unceremoniously is sent flying back into my body.
I was going to my doom. I fought for the holy empire, and nearly fell into the void. I have transgressed. I do not know how, but I have.
“DON’T YOU FUCKING DIE ON ME!”
It’s the human.
Gertrude, if I remember correctly.
We had to absorb her into the True, as there wasn’t enough Rabble to form a cohesive unit.
I faintly notice her dragging my body away from the battlefield. Then, I’m unconscious. Not the strange, detached unconsciousness of approaching final death, but one filled with divine pain and confusion.
I am on the path to damnation. Let us hope that there is a chance to turn around before it is too late.
End Part 2.

2023.06.05 16:41 Unusual-Sock2536 I have contamination OCD and I’m scared of going near anyone
I live almost every moment of my life in fear. I don’t even like my closest friends or family getting to close to me. I even hold my breath if people walk near me in public. I am so afraid of germs that I do everything I can to stay away from people.
I’m incredibly lonely, though. I wish I didn’t have to live like this and as the days go on I find it harder and harder to cope. I hate that this is my reality. I do not want to do therapy as I do not wish to get better. As that just exposes me to germs. I just don’t want to live

2023.06.05 16:41 Antpitta Are there any EU Ti gravel frames that compete with Lynskey GR300 in price vs quality?
Looking for just a frameset, not a complete bike - something not too aggressive, apt for bike packing and light touring too, decent tire clearance, decent mounting points, preferably internal cabling. I can buy the Lynskey in the US and mule it back to Europe without too much hassle. But before I do that, are there any gravel frames from EU brands that I’m missing that compete in terms of price / quality? For about 1600 EU I can get the Lynskey and get it home. A China Ti frame (Waltly or the like) would set me back over 1000 EU by the time I pay shipping and import duties, perhaps 1100-1200. I’ve not found anything from EU brands that tempts under about 2500,- EU which is well more than I’m keen to spend.
Open to suggestions! Cheers :)

2023.06.05 16:40 TheDoomedHeretic 25F [Activities] Disco Elysium enthusiast searching for RP partner, mostly for Star Wars, Dragon Age, Warhammer, and a few other fandoms.
As the title mentions I'm an advanced-novella RPer looking for GMs or offering myself as a GM for various text-based RPs. I've provided a sample down below and will ask the same of anybody that reaches out. Outside of writing I tend to spend most of my time on games like Knights of the Old Republic 2, New Vegas, and, indeed, the Hobocop Game. I'm an Associate at Amazon with an otherwise unimpressive social life, occasionally leaving the house to play WH40K Tabletop.
Discord is more-or-less required for me to be interested; sample incoming.
The boar is not dead, though to all the other hunters’ senses it is. It lays motionless on its side within the sled, tied down by rope with two arrows sticking discordantly out of its hide like seams of broken bone. Frozen blood pools in the cracked stomach of the sled, collecting rather than leaking now that red ice has sealed the wood. Poison leaching out of the arrowheads keeps the boar docile, and its breathing so light that only Trapper can see. An ovate in too-thin robes shivers as she ties a garland of rosemary around the beast’s neck, murmuring prayers to the ancestors that they might find the kill worthy.
Winter has seized the land in its vise, its unending waves of cold and snow having transformed the Barony of Marlas into a crueler scape, one Trapper doesn’t quite recognize. Tranquility abounds along the driven snow, all through the clearing, hiding the buried world and the woes of man but unable to snuff them out. Trapper knows well what a mirage it is, the oppressive winters of his homeland no less savage than the bloodletting summers. The numbing cold does not soothe his aches, for he knows they’ll be worse come morning, come the thaw. Too soon this clearing will melt, its river gone from white to red, the whole Septima Line thrust back to war.
Baron Orys refuses to yield to midnight season, to accept its peace, and so from his great warhorse’s saddle he brazenly belts out a mixture of drunken lyrics and commands, determined to master this hunt even if he does not partake. An entourage on horseback spreads out in his orbit, ranging from eager young footmen to grizzled junkers, all in varying states of inebriation at his command. Their braying is nearly louder than the hounds’, who hungrily stalk between the sled and the hole they pulled the boar out from. Teased by the hunt but yet unrewarded, they’re too unruly to be kept in check by the kennel master.
On foot slog the unfortunates who actually have to take part in the hunt, Trapper among them. They huddle into their hemp canvas cloaks, glancing up at the moody afternoon sky threatening to crack open with another snowstorm. Dark clouds sweep in low from the south like a riptide, a single vast current swept in from the mountains already menacing the Oldwoods. Its furthest gales reach them as tongues of vengeful cold, flecks of whipped-up snow biting into Trapper’s exposed skin.
By the boar’s nest leans a typical Mallean, one of Trapper’s two erstwhile comrades. Sigorn is tall, pale, broad, with the close-set, wide-boned features of a commoner, and a shock of red hair grown out to protect against the elements. Beneath his cloak he proudly bears his blood-flecked armor, each dent a Darkman put into it a point of dear pride. He’s not the only one, either, the clearing filled with dozens of youths whose first blooding ended in victory amid a blizzard. Baron Orys, deep into his cups after six days of nonstop celebration, saw a break in the storms and gladly called a hunt. When informed he could not go on account of his shattered knee - he simply grinned, and ordered himself tied to his saddle.
Trapper remembers the moment his lord fell from the saddle, burned into his nerves. The screaming of horses, skidding hooves catching on the frozen ground. On the edges of his vision a rider smashes into a branch in the din, others don’t move at all for fear of the blizzard. His spurs dig, his borrowed steed whines, and he races for his lord - only for another to reach him first.
“What a woman.” Sigorn sighs beside Trapper, craning his neck to look at one of their lord’s companions of honor. Susannah Oye, junker unlike the others, a pretty, willowy noblewoman well into motherhood, with the lean, ruthless look of a ranger. Her two poisoned arrows are what struck the boar down, and her pride curls off her body like steam. Sigorn’s face cracks into exaggerated appreciation, and then he turns to their lord’s other honored companion. Another woman, this one as young as they are, haughtily-built and leering with none of Susannah’s refinement. Many of those looks are reserved for Trapper, forced to slog on foot as just another hunter. “Anya too. I think she fancies you, eh?”

2023.06.05 16:39 Zombie13a Triggering a webhook from curl
Is there a way to trigger an Automation Platform webhook (GitHub or GitLab are the two options) from cURL?
I'm trying to create a task that creates a ticket for me without having to give the user creds in AAP or a password, since it will be automated and runable by nearly anyone on the system. Thought a webhook to trigger a playbook would be a simple solution.

2023.06.05 16:39 siddu1221 Check your bill before paying in restaurants
Yesterday we visited Salsa near VIP road and ordered food and a water bottle. They gave us a "Kinley" bottle which is 20 rs but charged us 50 rs. When asked about this the manager said that this is the price we need to pay. After arguing with him and also mentioning that there is a court order that restaurants should not charge more than the price on the bottle, he asked us to pay 20rs only. So, folks please make sure you check your bills before paying whatever they ask you to.
Note: 30rs is not a huge deal but I feel this is cheating the customers.

2023.06.05 16:38 throwRAn65 I’m (34M) in the midst of a divorce from (35F), what do I need to think about to be sure that I’m not getting involved with (31F) too quickly?
The background re: the divorce:
My soon-to-be-ex-wife and I had been together since 2016, married in 2019. Near the beginning of this year I caught her in a lie about where she’d been one night, after that I started paying attention and quickly figured out that she was cheating on me. I confronted her about it and that conversation resulted in our decision to get divorced. Unfortunately we’ve been unable to compromise on certain terms and so we’re still legally married.
My current problem:
I’ve known “A” since 2018. We’ve become closer friends since the beginning of this year, initially because she was the only single person in my social circle and so we naturally ended up spending a lot of time together.
A few weeks ago (mid-May) “A” and I went on what I suppose could be called a date, that wasn’t the intention at the beginning of the night but one thing led to another and we slept together. It didn’t go well as at that point I wasn’t as ready as I might’ve thought to be with someone new. “A” got the impression that I wasn’t interested in her and her feelings were hurt. We talked it out afterwards and agreed to take things slow and remain just friends until things were settled with my divorce.
Despite that conversation, over Memorial Day weekend “A” and I slept together again. This time everything was quite frankly perfect, but afterwards “A” told me that she was worried about jumping into anything and didn’t want to just be my rebound while I was still trying to get my emotions sorted out.
While I truly don’t think that’s what’s happening, I’m well-aware of the fact that I might not be in the best position to judge my own emotions right now. I was hoping to get some opinions or advice about how you know if/when you’re ready to get into a new relationship after an old one ends. I’m happy to answer any questions and give further details about the situation if needed. TIA!
(Note: I previously posted about this in the Relationships sub but needed to make a new account to post here.)

2023.06.05 16:38 R_D_T_Y Help with Optimizing Sales on ebay Store
Hi all
Have grown my Ebay business over the past 18 months. Have been consistently increasing sales, 500 or so positive feedback, all service metrics are strong and got Top Rated status.
Looking to continue to grow and leverage some of the data tools Ebay has, as well as want to know best practices for optimizing sales. Right now I leverage some promotions (10-20%) and sending offers. I haven't tried any promoted listings.
I called Ebay and they said in order to get an account specialist you need 20k plus active listings. My business is more high ticket, smaller volumes.
Is there a good guide or services resource the group can point me to?
Volume wise doing $30k in top line sales a month, 42k or so page views, 1.8% clickthrough and .4% sales conversion. This has been consistent for the past 5 months
Im trying to figure out if to increase sales I need to increase views on listings, decrease price, add more listings etc. Obviously all of those are drivers but want to optimize at what mix.
Thanks in advance
