Hello all! I have been playing ttrpgs for around 4, almost 5 years now and despite being in many different diverse groups I've never had any horror stories to share. Now, I have at least one minor one.
People involved are myself(female, because it unfortunately matters), DM, Rogue, Ranger, Fighter, Bard and Witch. This is a Pathfinder 2nd Edition game.
Most of my experience has been with 5e, and I hadn't really touched any other system. So, when everything went south with Wizards of the Coast and the OGL and Pinkertons, I decided to branch out and try other systems. That is when I managed to find a group for Pathfinder! I was excited to learn the system, so as soon as I was in, I started reading the core rulebook and listening to videos on the rules of the game.
The initial party consisted of everyone but Witch(she would join later). DM proclaims he has about 3 years experience running 5e games, but is new to Pathfinder himself. No big deal, it seems all of us are new, with Rogue and Ranger being brand new to ttrpgs. We'll learn the system together. Things start off somewhat okay, with a skirmish between two sides, with players split between the two factions. Combat is very basic and everything dies in a single hit, without really attacking us directly. We do discover that Bard's character is... Well, the best way to describe him was a flamboyant gay elf, using a stereotypical gay voice and cadence, who ran from the battle at the first sign of trouble. That was... Off-putting, but it was whatever.
We cleared the encounter, and one side clearly won. My character was actually knocked unconscious, but was picked up and carried by another player of the opposing faction, Fighter. We then all eventually stumbled across a large dragon man, basically a Dragonborn, who breathed lightning, and had a huge axe and plate armor. When we fought him, all at lvl 1, still worn out from the last battle. Almost no one could hit his AC, and he nearly downed half the party before we managed to win. I later found out that the DM just used a level 3 player stat block for this guy, and buffed his HP, which I know in 5e, at least, is a bad idea.
After this, the DM had a shady NPC show up out of nowhere and invite us to come along with him. This was the first sign that the DM wasn't very good at roleplaying, or at least doing so in a convincing way. But, this was the plot hook, so we all went with it. The DM then showed off their inexperience again when we were offered a mission from this NPC, and Rogue asked some pretty softball questions about why we'd want to work with them. As an aside, rogue's backstory involved working with criminals, and these guys were like rebels against the empire who invaded the city.
Either way, we had to go to an auction house to buy a magical item. We were given 50 gold to buy the item, and this was where the DM displayed their inability to describe rooms to us. The description was very bland, and didn't paint much of a picture for us. He also didn't really do many voices, so it was difficult to tell if an NPC was talking, or if it was the DM out of character. Regardless, we found the item we needed, placed bids and got into a bidding war with a noble. For whatever reason, this makes the bard decide to set off a... Distraction, by trying to cast a spell on the noble to charm them, to which they roll a 37 to resist. We are level 2, by the way. This leads to bard's backup plan.
Bard lights and shoots off fireworks in the auction house, causing the entire roof to cave in and severely injure most of us. Rogue did manage to snatch the item, and slip away along with Ranger. Bard ran down the street escaping the guards, and myself and fighter just stood around in disbelief, because up until that point, we had all blended in without issue. There was no reason for such a huge commotion. We stayed and the noble spoke to us, but we talked our way out of it, Fighter being the type from a military/mercenary background, and myself being a local farm girl.
Eventually, we all met up, and in between sessions, the entire group agrees to kick Bard for playing a blatant caricature and being chaotic stupid. He also talked over and interrupted people a lot, and really tried to push his luck with every ruling. And, before we returned to the quest NPC, we got a new player, Witch, who immediately rubbed myself and Fighter the wrong way because she was playing an older, grandmother type, character who... No matter what you said... She knew more than you, or at least as much as you.
Once we got back to the quest NPC, we were paid for the job, and given the option of taking other quests. We did one on an island, it was a poorly narrated place with a simple puzzle that everyone kind of overcomplicated. Typical rpg stuff. Then another, where we got to see Ranger awkwardly flirt with an NPC as a distraction. He was terrible at it, and we all had a great laugh.
I should point out that in each of these sessions we played, DM usually sounded very unprepared, even when we were doing what was clearly intended. He also frequently showed that he was not doing anything to learn the system between sessions. He'd make the same mistakes each week, forget how many actions his NPCs have taken, or even how saves and checks work, frequently using passives, instead of opposed checks. It was frustrating, because we had two brand new players to TTRPGs and we were all new to the game. Yet, it was Fighter and myself, and occasionally Witch as her know-it-all trait wasn't character specific, who were explaining the rules. I even had to correct him on crits once, because he said the number on the attack roll, even with 20, was below the AC. He argued until I showed him the ruling, and he then changed to saying he knew how it worked. Apparently not.
I digress... In game, we did another mission that resulted in our party being ambushed by the noble we had seen at the auction house. The party was then split on motives, as the Witch felt this guy was evil and refused to change her mind, while he told my character he could help her find her biological mother(she was adopted, and there was a lot of familiarities between him and her). Other than what Witch felt about him, and that he was a noble from the invading kingdom, we had no real reason not to trust him. Well, once we were released and able to discuss things, and no matter what anyone did in trying to convince Witch to work with noble, she refused without giving any explanation in or out of character. She just didn't like the guy because of where he was from.
The session ended without us having chosen a side, and we were poised to visit with the noble the next day. The morning of that day, during the next session, Fighter couldn't make it, so we said he went off to talk to someone from his back story, and we went shopping. Rogue got herself a crossbow and Ranger helped teach her how to use it. We then went to a local restaurant my character frequently went to with her adoptive father. This was a fun opportunity for my character to kind of talk about her childhood a bit, how important family is, and some stuff about her dad. When we got there, the Ranger asked what he should order, and my character recommended this huge, expansive breakfast, and I even made up a name for it, the "Hungry Farmers Breakfast" and added that her father proclaimed to have been the first to order it and even named it. Cue our Witch chiming in to say he lied, because this dish is served all across the land. She's eaten it at tons of places.
Now, it's worth mentioning that I had brought it up to DM multiple times that Witch has a know-it-all, one-up whatever you say, personality, and that it really detracts from what others can do. He's said he talked to her about it, and nothing has changed despite that. This, for me, was the last straw. I called her out, and said for her to let us come up with unique character development that we want, and to not steal the wind from our sails. I might have been a bit rude about it, but it was a repeated issue that had yet to be resolved. Witch tried to defend what she said by comparing it to stuff in real life, like from chain restaurants, and I had to point out that they don't tend to have chain restaurants in fantasy worlds, and that this place was specifically a local place.
After that, Witch got quiet and the DM ended the session an hour early because he had stuff to do, and Witch was apparently feeling sick. Supposedly unrelated to being called out. I talked to Rogue and Ranger, and neither of them thought I was out of line, and were sort of feeling the same way about how she was acting. I messaged DM the next day about it, and he promised he'd talk to her again.
I waited a few days, and the Discord server was quiet, and I messaged DM, asking if they had heard back from Witch since they messaged her, and he said he hadn't. He then told me, absolutely out of the blue, that he had a dream of me, that I was holding a baby, and he and I went on a walk together. I... Had never had the misfortune of hearing something like this before, and just promptly tried to change the subject. Fortunately, he went with the change and we talked a bit about Pathfinder stuff. Now, DM knows I'm married, I live in a different country than him, and that I'm... Around 10 years older than him. So, I was very confused as to why he would ever say anything like that to me.
We skipped the next session because two players couldn't make it, and during this time, I asked a lot of people IRL, and in other ttrpg games I'm in about the situation, showing screenshots of the conversation so they had, verbatim, what he said. Everyone, guys and gals, thought it was either super weird, or outright creepy as heck. I agreed, and decided that this would be the last nail in the coffin. Poor descriptions, bad roleplay, terrible rulings, no enthusiasm during actual sessions and suggestions of introducing broken critical failure rules, like permanent injuries or dismemberment into a game with total ttrpg newbies ON TOP of this guy also dreaming about me with a baby. I was done.
I wrote the DM a length explanation, told him how creepy it was, and that I'd be leaving. Wished him well, and waited for his response. To his credit, he didn't explode. But, he did say that I was overreacting because what he said wasn't explicitly sexual or romantic, and so I shouldn't take it that way. Yeah, I'll just take my friend's advice, where she said he was testing the waters with the dream stuff. I told the group I was leaving, without context outside of things just weren't for me. Wished them well.
When I left, Rogue, Ranger and Fighter all stayed in touch and wanted to play more games with me. DM, on the other hand, decided to air out everything that he and I said, sharing screenshots of the conversation and... Yeah. Rogue and Ranger were both kind of shocked by it. Rogue said it was none of her business, and agreed that DM was a creep. Ranger was a bit more forgiving about the dream stuff, but was also offput by the airing of dirty laundry. Fighter left when I did, so he didn't see it.
Tldr: Joined a Pathfinder 2e game where the DM went from incompetent and underwhelming, to really creepy, alongside a player who glorified a gay stereotype, and another who wouldn't let anyone have any cool moment, because she had apparently experienced everything in life, and it was better than whatever you did.
Glad to be out of that group, and now I have Fighter, Rogue and Ranger in a group that I and Fighter take turns DMing one shots in until we can find someone who would like to be a DM for us on a longer form adventure.
All in all, far from the worst horror story, but still an interesting little rollercoaster. I hope you enjoyed this. Sorry if it was a long read.

Okay, maybe its me, but I cannot stand the recent uprise of LPS shops. I understand a lot of people like being able to certify a pet is real/good condition/etc— but it is so hard to get my hands on LPS lots nowadays because these people buy in bulk. On a local site, this one lady buys almost every decent LPS listing and resells pets for absurd prices. It’s just infuriating I guess?
They’re not doing anything wrong I suppose, but it really does feel a tiny bit like scalping.

Before you judge me, I've gone to three different mechanics to turn my CEL and all have failed to fix the problem. Random parts get replaced, it gets reset, and then turns on within 10 miles. I can't afford to take it to another mechanic, especially since I don't have any faith they'll actually fix it. It's been working fine for the past two years despite the check engine light.
So do you know any shops that will give me a pass on the smog despite the CEL? Thanks!

A few weeks ago I had several days of pain unlike what I've felt before. It was like someone had plugged a pump into my lower abdomen and was blowing it up like a balloon to breaking point.
The pain started in my lower right, went to the centre and my back before ending up on my left side of body where it was most painful.
I couldn't sleep so took myself to ER room. They found urine in my blood and did a CT scan which showed inflammation. Dr believed Diverticulitis and gave me antibiotics because of how severe the pain was. They gave me laxatives because I hadn't passed stool for several days. Those never worked when I took them, but I'm now passing stool somewhat more frequently and it looks much better than it was.
I finished the medicine over a week ago. I've adjusted my diet to be much more strict. I don't know if this is advised but I have already increased my fibre intake and it's definitely helped with my constipation and stools. Without it my stool is just loose and dark.
However, I'm still in pain. Nowhere near what I was but I'm still uncomfortable, bloated and feel it a lot at night when I'm trying to sleep. Is it "normal" for pain to linger this long? Is it something I'll just live with? I have a referral to a specialist but I won't see them for at least a few months due to delays.

So, quick question: How much time is normal for a couple to spend together? We don't live together yet and are in a ldr. Right now I've been at his place(his parents house, to be precise) for about 3 months with short breaks of a few days and once 2 weeks- during the two weeks we nearly broke up. And it is getting to me because he is my only real social contact. He says I can just leave if I am so unhappy here and we see each other in 3 weeks when we are supposed to move in together. With that he says that he will spend less time with me, not more when we live together. That's alright because I will have a life there to, friends, work etc. but nevertheless quality time each day is important to me. Not 4 hours everyday but more than just coexsisting, eating together quickly and laying on the couch looking at our phones. I like "mini dates" and ideally most days of the week- that can be a walk, going for a coffee, playing chess etc. Obviously some periods are more stressful and it can't exist every day but yeah, i like spending time and also more time together. So my questions is: should adjust my expectations, how much time per day/week is normal? Thanks everyone

Last school year (2022-2023) I maybe spoke a couple of paragraphs the whole school year. Including reading out loud, talking to teachers/students ect. I just can’t take to people and when I do it’s only a sentence maybe. It literally took me 7 minutes to ask the person next to me for a worksheet, in my mind I say what I want to say over and over again just to sit there and say nothing to regret it later. But at the same time I don’t mind just listening to other people.(not in a creepy way) at first I thought I was just unapproachable and people thought it was weird that they never herd my voice or something, or maybe they don’t notice me. Almost everyone in my classes had a friend group so I guess I wasn’t a preference? I do have a friend that will be at my school next year who I can talk to but that’s it. My high school has about 1,500 students and is very diverse yet I only have that friend which my sister says is “pretty sad” and “ just talk to people it’s not that hard” I really want to but I just can’t, like debating if you want to go on a scary roller coaster and miss it anyway. It’s really frustrating. On top of that I have zero people skills because of COVID and I’ll often mispronounce words which is hella embarrassing. I remember one time near the end of the year I was walking to lunch and talking to my friend as my English teacher walked by, later that day she said that she was genuinely surprised that I was talking to someone and that she was really proud of me. I know she was trying to be encouraging and supportive but it was like a slap in the face when your teacher tells you they’re proud of you for talking to someone, anyone. So that was my reality check and now I’m here. I don’t know if it’s social anxiety or being introverted but I need help with talking to people and really need advice for the next school year please anything you can come up with.

I became aware of Rwby back in vol 2 so I've seen the downhill spiral of the show and seen plenty of rewrites and reboots and Alt is......so bad like sooooo bad, a few points I have is...
(1)Pointless details:Why do we need to know how the currency works? I want to watch a show about charaters fight monsters with wacky-ass weapons, unless it's important to the main story no one cares.
(2)FEEL THE EDGE:My gods it is edgy, it's one one of those "oh dark and brooding makes good characters". No no it doesn't, don't get me started on the Yang beats Ruby to near death causing Ruby to do more adult things. With every new bit of info I just rolled my eyes and all I could think of was that awful Devil May Cry reboot yeah you know the one and if not you are so lucky. It's just gets dark thinking that makes good characters, you know same thing Rwby Canon does and fails at, now dark moments can be good and help your characters grow but it can't be all you have.
(3)Is this even Rwby?:Rwby has problems and could be written better but with Alt it misses the forest for the trees, the world is so different down to the fundamentals of what Rwby is, it just seems like the creator just called it Rwby so it would get more attention and don't get me started on the fact that it's also a post-apocalyptic world that sounds vaguely like a certain game I like "cough" Destiny "cough".
Rwby has problems to no end but sometimes a "fix" can be just as bad.

I am 34F with diagnosed ADHD, ASD, C-PTSD and fibromyalgia (God, I get annoyed even writing that). Under the fibro umbrella fits nearly every hEDS symptom I've got, like migraines, fatigue, joint and tendon pain, among others. Here are some moderately strange things I've noticed about myself that I want to discuss with my doctor if they might be related to hEDS. Many symptoms can be explained by ADHD or ASD, but these conditions have a high comorbidity rate with hEDS, so...
1: Standing hurts, but I have trouble pinpointing where it hurts and what I'm doing wrong. I can walk, sit and lay down - but standing is torture. I always shift my weight on my legs or find something to lean against. I've been so fatigued from this I've sat down at concerts, or at work when it wasn't allowed. People do not like this.
2: Bladder issues. Not incontinence, just very frequent urination. Bladder training does not work, I urinate up to 20 times during daytime, and at night between 2 and 8 times (8 if I'm stressed out or can't sleep). Urologist put his torture device camera thing up my urethra and filled it with water. He promised no pain, but the pain and the URGE got so strong I had to abort mission. However, from what he could see, the bladder was normal. He prescribed me some meds and told me that if I didn't get this urination issue fixed it would just get worse with age. I got very scared. Never took the meds, didn't dare to.
3: Brittle finger nails. It's difficult for me to not bite my nails, as they never seem to stay intact, no matter how well I treat them. I've eaten all the supplements and used a variety of lotions, to no effect.
4: Rashes on my skin above painful tendons, like small nettle burns. Fungal skin issues that come and go. No wrinkles at age 34, people always assume I'm in my early 20s. I've always felt that sores and such take a long time to heal, but I don't know what's normal. I've always been a skin picker, I don't know if that's relevant.
5: I dislike being outside if the weather is any kind of not perfect. I get very tired from sunlight and I rarely enjoy myself just sitting outside - I have to do something.
6: Most hairdos really hurt. I have very thick hair, so that might be it - but still, my scalp very easily hurts when I do my hair. It's unbearable, and I mostly just loosely braid it.
7: Intimacy hurts. Hugs, spooning, people leaning against me, holding hands - and sex, of course. No matter how nice it is, it also hurts. It's always been like that, no matter how gentle and attentive my partners (both men and women - and myself!) have been. I've just stopped telling them this, and I also thought this was just normal for women. Turns out it's not?
8: Extreme period pains, but no endometriosis or PCOS or anything like that. When I'm on my period, I urinate more often. If I haven't had a bowel movement in a while, I also urinate more often. It feels as though bladder, uterus and colon are really close and affect each other.
10: IBS. No known allergies. On ADHD meds I have diarrhea every morning (and they're still worth it), but before getting the meds I would consistently have up to 5 bowel movements every day, and at least 3. Sometimes healthy looking movements, sometimes diarrhea.
11: Sensitivity to drugs, both prescribed and otherwise (I won't tell my doc this, but I'm asking you guys).
12: Sometimes I wake up from excruciating pain in my leg, then I just move my leg a little and it's fine.
13: I am always either completely relaxed or super tight everywhere.

I mean, everything is connected, and the more we understand about our bodies, the more we can accommodate and treat ourselves - even if the medical literature is lagging years behind us.

Hi everyone. On phone & a bit of an emotional mess, so please bear with me. I lost my sweet, beautiful boy, Oakley, on May 17th, 2023. He fought nearly a 9 month battle against hemangiosarcoma. He took his last breath at 4:33 AM. None of our local pet crematoriums opened until 8-9 AM. A wonderful local company came and got him just after 10 AM.
I received my boy back today & they put him in a beautiful urn, made me a clay paw print with his name & included 3 clippings of his fur. Here's my question. The paw print is without a doubt his. I made some homemade paw prints back in March, so I had something it compare them with. The ashes I received back also seems to be the appropriate size for his size. But his fur.. I'm so emotional over this. He was predominantly a white rat fox terrier, half black face that had gone grey with age and one black spot on his butt. The 3 hair clippings we received are all a black/redish tint, almost like a tortoiseshell cats color. No white at all. Is it possible they gave me the wrong dogs fur? I know we're all human & mistakes can be made... but has anyone heard of a mistake like this? Like I said, the paw print is 100% his but I don't know if post mortum if dogs hair changes color? Is it possible they gave me 3 clippings from his butt? I just thought it was odd I didn't get any white fur 😔 thank you all in advance.

My car got flooded because of a leaky sunroof a few weeks ago. The water was removed a while ago and the carpet is dry now, but the car has a moldy smell in it. I called an auto detailer, he told me on the phone that steam cleaning it wouldn't work, and that I would need to take my car to an upholstery shop so they can remove the carpet and clean underneath it. I won't be able to take it to the shop anytime soon, but I can't have my wife in the car due to her allergies. Is there any way to DIY clean it without having to remove the carpeting?

So, I’m by no means a good kid or anything and I have no intentions of stopping. I smoke nic and weed, but I honestly don’t really enjoy smoking weed but I decided to use it to sleep cuz it usually knocks me out. So I’ve been suffering with Derealization for awhile now, ever since 8th grade, I’m in 10th. This was before I started smoking and I honestly found the Nicotine kind of helped. But ever since I took it a night ago the Derealization got so bad, like I feel like I’m in a huge dream and it got so much worse I have awful brain fog and I don’t know what to do. I have Severe Depression and I have a Psychiatrist so I don’t know to tell him or not. But honestly I’m so tired of everybody telling me to quite smoking nic, I knew what I got myself into from the very moment I first vaped, I’ve always known how horrible it is, and I don’t want to quit. It’s difficult to explain why since it’s not one solid reason, but a bunch of reasons. It’s 1 AM right now so I’m gonna post this go to sleep and hope I don’t get a bunch of condescending armchair experts or parents or whatever tryna ride my ass and condescend me and shit since I always have those kinds of people but I just need some non condescending support meybe??? I remember being on day 3-4 and freaking out in this subreddit, feigning for a vape and also feigning for a “it gets better” post, just so I didn’t feel alone. Just another brave person here saying IT DOES GET BETTER. For those of you that are just now starting, or quit for a couple days and just can’t seem to take it anymore, you can do it!! I feel great; and my motivation is greater, i don’t look like a stick anymore, i have the urge to face greater challenges, I can workout and not be winded asf, saving money money money. The house is under two loans 17 lakh (housing loan) and 20 lakh. We have received the notice, and are in a state of panic as this is our home.
The other properties (two 2cum3bhk flats) we want to replace this with are worth 75–80 lakh altogether. The loaction is great, near a educational institute and in optimal distance with the train station. The flats from inside are fully refurbished, but the tower from outside doesn't look good or is quite bad. There's greenery in the surroundings as well.
Our current house is worth 55–60 lakh. Please tell me if the collateral replacement will be possible in India—Bank of Maharashtra. If yes, what'll be the procedure? Or any terms we should know or any website with related information.
Any other possible solution is welcomed, we just want to save our home.

For those interested in the main title: I have found that spring snowpack has decreased by 32% since 1950 on the Skagit River Basin (massive chunk of the North Cascades) with declines of up to 78% at low elevation. Very concerning for the region as Skagit County relies on the river for its freshwater supply (massive agriculture industry and fairly large population) and Seattle receives nearly a quarter of its electricity from dams on the river. Not to mention negative impacts on salmon.
