So recently I've been watching the US TV series called "Designated Survivor)", which is basically about a low-ranking US cabinet member who was a designated survivor rising to the post of President after the US Capitol Building was destroyed in an explosion, killing almost everyone in the Cabinet, Senate and House. While watching it, I couldn't help but think if SG also has something similar to ensure the continuity of government since we are a very small country and even though the possibility of something similar happening is nearly impossible, the possibility of it happening still exists.
So, what will happen if most of Parliament and the Cabinet are wiped out in a single attack? And are there any provisions in the Constitution that will perhaps guide the surviving government? (The closest I could find was Article 64A: "Continuity of Parliament" that was recently amended in 2020 due to the pandemic, but that's about it).
I don't exactly have much imagination on how such an attack could occur, or what motivations would there be, since Singapore isn't exactly a superpower like the US. But I think an attack would be along the lines of a drone attack, sabotage, missile strike and maybe special forces infiltration? It would be on a similar scale of 9/11 and would undoubtedly rattle every Singaporean to the core. There would be greater nationalistic sentiments and if the attack was carried out by any foreign country, there could be all-out war too though it depends where the country is.
So, what are your thoughts?

Important Stuff and Things!

I have managed to rescue /RWBYFanfiction from an untimely demise! If you would like to share your fanfic or make recommendations, head on over there! I know that I've said something special was coming for this, but Ruby on Rails is hard and not cheap to operate. The fanfiction indexer that I was trying to set up just isn't working and probably needs someone with more experience in RoR programming/design. I haven't completely put it to bed, but it might be a while before I can circle back to it. In the meantime, the fanfic sub has actually had a decent amount of postings - head on over and say hi! :)
No matter how bad things may get, words will always have meaning. Now get out there and write something, but most importantly, have fun! :)

Just as the title said: what kind of superpowers would royalty and nobility have, and how it would set them apart from both each other and their plebeian subjects?
The question is directly inspired by the royal touch of the real-world and the Crest system from Fire Emblem: Three Houses. It doesn't have be necessarily related to medical or combatant, especially if it gets redundant and so wants every royal/noble family to at least have some unique flair to them.
There are currently three superpowers in my dungeonpunk conworld Vaine Gloire, and are primarily magic-based: the Unicorn's Grace (basically the aforementioned royal touch, but required a unicorn to bless the virgin future-consort for her children to have it), and two counterparts for the Thrascion royal family (the Queen's Blessing, again another royal touch but is permanent and heritable, and the King's Curse, which makes anything decay and corrode rapidly under the wielder's gaze). There is also heat-based and aura-based magic subsystems called incalescent arts and respirable arts respectively, and required immense training to do so, though it can be achieved with everyone however.

Plot: after getting hit with a teleportation wormhole, Punisher ends up on Rook Islands (https://farcry.fandom.com/wiki/Rook_Islands) in the middle of Pacific Ocean. After getting used to local climate and wildlife, Frank Castle soon hears that Rook Islands are infested by Vaas Montenegro's pirates and Hoyt Volker's mercenaries, which terrorizes local people and does a lot of criminal things. Having a strong wish to escape from that hellhole, but also wishing to at least help innocents before going away, Frank decides to go against the Pirates and Mercenaries and kill their leaders to take down their criminal organizations.
Rules & winning conditions: Punisher starts unarmed, but has his armor. He can use any weapons and vehicles available in-game (here's the list: https://farcry.fandom.com/wiki/Category:Far_Cry_3_weapons & https://farcry.fandom.com/wiki/Far_Cry_3_vehicles). Punisher has some assistance from locals (mostly for intel about Pirates and Mercenaries), but fights alone. Punisher wins if he kills Vaas Montenegro, Bambi "Buck" Hughes and Hoyt Valker to take down their organizations, and loses if he's getting killed.
Round 1: Punisher from Earth-616 Marvel Prime Universe (no amps and power-ups, only base non-superpowered Punisher).

Hiro Hamada

"We didn’t set out to be superheroes, but sometimes life doesn’t go the way you plan"

Hiro Hamada is a teenaged genius, graduating high school at only 13 years old. Despite his intellect, he spent his time competing in illegal bot fights, much to the chagrin of his older brother Tadashi and aunt Cass. Tadashi took Hiro on a tour of the robotics lab at his college, the San Fransokyo Institute of Technology, inspiring him to apply. After Tadashi died in an explosion during the admission fair, Hiro built gear for himself, Baymax, Tadashi’s healthcare robot, and Tadashi’s classmates, to create the superhero team Big Hero 6 and bring the man who caused the explosion to justice, becoming San Fransokyo’s premier superhero team.

Most street fighter games besides Alpha introduced a new big bad, so I'm just going to go ahead and call Alpha's "Big Bad" Akuma, even though he was introduced in one of the many re-releases of 2. This isn't really a ranking of how they play because I am trash at Street Fighter, more what they bring to the series, from worst to best.
JP is all speculation so I don't know for sure, but I am up to date on the comics and their big pictures with many, many small speech bubbles with tiny text, so... I know a bit.
Necalli (5's new villain)
He's... an ancient prophetic fighter from the Aztec empire who devours the souls of strong fighters. My issue with him is that he's outright defeated by Dhalsim, M Bison, Ryu, Balrog (who has literally nothing special going on) and killed by Akuma in his debut appearance. He really appeared out of hybernation to eat the souls of the powerful, but it turns out the powerful were too spicy for his refined palette and he should have started with Dan.
He got pushed down so far that he just seems geriatric in his old age. I don't see Necalli as a viable threat at all- I suspect if he comes back, he'll be used as fodder for some other villain. He's bad because he directly compares to other villains and loses in that comparison every time.
M Bison (2's new villain)
He's the big bad of Street Fighter who dies every single time, to the point that honestly it's hard for me to see him as anything other than a big goofy meme that had the same face model as Dee Jay in Street Fighter 4. I know he'll be back. We all know he'll be back, but like... dude has never once had a success except in 4, where Seth losing was all a part of his master plan that didn't pan out.
Routinely loses to Ryu, so... not necessarily a threat, and his clones are blonde but his hair is black. Figure out your dang genetics, Bison.
Seth (4's new villain)
Seth was the final boss of every arcade mode in 4, and while he loses in every fight, he had a huge ripple effect on the series. Before Seth was traditional martial arts, after Seth was clones and magic eyes and all sorts of fantastical stuff. I also think Seth is one of the more interesting design choices of the series, being this shiny chrome bald man with a yin yang rotating in his belly.
I believe he was canonically killed by Juri, which really lends credence to her inclusion in the base roster of all subsequent SF games. She's iconic because the boss that would teleport behind you to... freeze you in place to shoot you or something was killed by a girl who kicks real good.
Akuma (Alpha's *new villain*)
Akuma came out of the box so strong, He killed Ryu's master, then killed M Bison to jump in and be the new final boss, and was way stronger than M Bison as a final boss. Real strong "might by comparison" stuff, but my issue with him is that a lot of those achievements were taken away, along with his relevance to the story.
Gouken didn't die, and the power Gouken used to not die meant that Ryu didn't have to worry about his evil side any more, and M Bison didn't die, and now Akuma is... around. Being a sad angry old man who the kids don't want to deal with any more, and Street Fighter 6 features a new guy with the superpowered evil side and Akuma is... optional DLC. He was upstaged by JP.
He's about as iconic as Bison because he came early enough, but honestly I don't feel like he's a threat, and that's what he was meant to be. His super is so iconic that it's referenced in other media though.
JP (6's new villain)
The real fascinating thing about JP for me right now is that he's not that strong and he's not interested in other villains. He's a schemer in a way that M Bison wasn't- not "it was my plan all along, bwahahaha!" but "sacrifices need to be made". He seems almost reluctant in a lot of the media shown about him, and I think that's fun.
He's also the only old guy in a game about new generations, so the new and old characters don't look like the youngsters and the old guys. JP looks about as old as Dhalsim, who reads to me as the oldest of the recurring characters in 6.
I also think making the villain a zoner with a projectile command grab is the correct choice. That's not a hero selection of moves, and I feel like rush in M Bison and grappler Necali don't give me the same rage that a strong zoner can.
Sagat (1's new villain)
I love Sagat because he developed with the series. He was just a strong guy in 1, then became a minion to the bad guys, and now a fair rematch between him and Ryu is one of two threads that Ryu is holding onto, plot-wise. Going through the whole Sagat story is probably better done by reading the wiki, but it is a saga, and it makes me feel like Sagat is one of the most fascinating characters in the series, even if he's waaaay too tall to be in basically any Muay Thai league out of Thailand. I don't know if the weight classes typically go up that high.
He is, however, kind of boring looking compared to other villains, and I think his plot relevance is sort of falling off in favor of characters like Balrog that were bad guys but have interesting stuff going on.
Gill (3's new villain)
Honestly for me Gill is the best thing out of 3. He's charismatic in a way that no other Street Fighter villain really is, since he's a leader of a cult and the rest are rogue murderers with at best a paramilitary organization. Gill is fun because he's more than willing to take a loss for the sake of his own education in other people. He's a good fighter, but he's fighting for the fame rather than for the technique, and he's not angry or vengeful, he's curious and excited to see what others can do. He treats fights like a scientist studying an ant colony.

In an alternate timeline…
Before we discuss the development of Ulyanovsk, we need to talk about both the political developments of the Soviet Union, and the development of their naval aviation capabilities in that period.
The period from 1945 to 1953, from the end of World War II to the death of Iosif Vissarionovich Stalin could be considered to be a boon for the Communist cause, a fact helped by the passive foreign policy of U.S. Presidents Henry A. Wallace (1945-1949) ^\1]) and the missteps made by his successor, Richard Russell Jr. (1949-1953) ^\2]) to stem the tide of Communism. Though there were a number of setbacks (In China, Mao Zedong’s failure to conclusively defeat Chiang Kai-Shek, the two China’s effectively divided along the Qinling-Huaihe Line ^\3]), while in Vietnam, with the lack of direct Communist support, meant that the Viet Minh, and by extension, the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, collapse in the face of French arms with limited U.S. and South Chinese backing) there was still a great degree of success, from the establishment of Soviet-backed states in the lands they occupied ^\4]), to Kim Il-Sung successfully uniting the Korean peninsula (sans Jeju Island), to a communist backed coup establishing the Turkish Socialist Republic under Şevket Süreyya Aydemir ^\5]) (and the subsequent expansion of the Georgian and Armenian SSR’s at their expense) and subsequent support for the Communists in the Greek Civil War, to the partitioning of Iran between Communist North, the Persian Socialist Republic, and Imperialist South (with its conquest of Iranian Azerbaijan into the Azeri SSR). This aggressive foreign policy by Stalin would be furthered by the decision to expand the Soviet military, including the navy to compete with its geopolitical and ideological rival, the United States of America.
These policies would be echoed and continued under Stalin’s successors, Lazar Kaganovich ^\6]), who would succeed his mentor and idol in 1956 would continue many of the Stalinist policies, albeit while committing to limited reforms that would help to moderate the Stalinist strain of Communism ^\7]) while maintaining the aggressive foreign policy and military buildup. It was during the Kaganovich era (1956-1973) that would see a restart on Soviet naval aviation. One of the projects that came about (although started under Stalin) was the conversion of the Chapayev-class Light Cruiser Komsomolets into a Light Aircraft Carrier, becoming Russia’s first aircraft carrier, the Serov in 1955. While the carrier was an excellent first start, she was too small to perform any degree of carrier operations, largely relegated to a helicopter cruiser and training carrier for the development of small carrier based trainers such as modified version of the MiG-15UTI and the Yak-17UTI. Despite this, this would pave the way for parallel developments towards the Moskva-class Helicopter Carriers (Project 1123 “Kondor”) and Project 1160 “Orel I”, otherwise known as the aircraft carrier Krasnodar. Although originally intended to be equipped with a nuclear reactor, it was decided to be developed with a conventional power plant instead, which helped to reduce weight (the ship was intended to be displace 85,000 tons, rather than the final version’s smaller sized 65,000 tons. Entering service in 1973 (to correspond with Kaganovich’s retirement and the accession of his successor, Alexander Shelepin ^\8])), Krasnodar would be equipped with up to 60 aircraft, a mixture of MiG-23A “Flogger-M’s,” ^\9]) for air interception and ground attack, Ka-25 “Hormone’s” for Anti-Submarine Warfare and Search-and-Rescue operations, and Su-24K “Fencer-C’s” ^\10]) for tactical strikes and interdiction. Though it paled in comparison to the scale of America’s contemporary carriers such as the Kitty Hawks and the nuclear-powered USS Enterprise, it was an earnest first step for the socialist state.
This would be further compounded with the development of Russia’s first nuclear-powered aircraft carrier, Project 1153 “Orel II”, also known as Vilnius. Commissioned in 1981, the type would continue in the operation of MiG-23A’s alongside the new Su-25UBP’s to serve as a dedicated ground attack aircraft. This would be bolstered with the smaller Project 1143 “Krechet” which became the Baku-class Amphibious Assault Ship ^\11]), Project 1143.5, the Kuznetsov-class Aircraft Carrier and Project 1143.6, the Varyag-subclass for the preceding Kuznetsov’s.
Despite this fact, the decision was made to develop a second nuclear-powered carrier. Despite fielding the second largest carrier force in the world, Shelepin desired to field a carrier force with a near equal capability to that of the United States (indeed prior to the laying down of the two Ulyanovsk’s, the U.S. fielded nearly two-dozen supercarriers, compared to three supercarriers and a further six medium carriers of the Soviet Union) This led to Project 1143.7, a plan for two new supercarriers to be completed before 2000. At 85,000 tons displacement, she would be larger than the previous two supercarriers, though still smaller in scale to the Nimitz’s in service. Much like the other Soviet carriers, they would feature fixed-wing launching capability (in the case of the supercarriers, CATOBAR capability) while still being able to carry Anti-Ship and Surface-to-Air Missile Launchers. The first ship, known as Ulyanovsk, was ordered on 11 June 1986, and was laid down on 25 November 1988. ^\12]) She was launched on 1 November 1992, attended by Shelepin’s successor as General Secretary, Nikolay Yegorychev. ^\13]) She would be commissioned into the Soviet Navy on 5 February 1995.
Ulyanovsk’s career would be spent largely touring other Soviet-aligned states in Africa and Asia, briefly serving as flagship of the Black Sea Fleet before transferring to the Pacific Fleet in 1998. That voyage would see her tour many Communist states, including Varna, Bulgaria, Thessaloniki, North Greece, Ponte-Noire, Congo, Luanda, Angola, and Qingdao, North China, all of which were monitored by the presence of a number of NATO planes and fleets. The sight of a new Soviet supercarrier was a move that incited shock among Western nations, and may have been a factor that contributed to the decision to construct further Nimitz-class carriers (which would become the Jeanne Kirkpatrick-subclass [14])
The carrier would also be involved in a later standoff between North and South Japan in 2005, which nearly brought the world to the brink of nuclear war before Soviet Premier Maxim Suraykin, the North Japanese Premier Chizuko Takahashi, the U.S. President Elizabeth Dole, and South Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe would meet aboard the carrier, contributing to a deescalation of tensions and preserving the status quo.
At the time of writing (2023), Ulyanovsk remains the Pacific Fleet flagship, and is currently based in Vladivostok.

Before that he served as FDR’s Secretary of Agriculture. Removed from the VP spot by the Democrats Conservative Wing, he would serve as FDR’s and, both later and briefly, Harry Truman’s Secretary of Commerce before being fired from the position due to his conciliatory views to the Soviet Union. ITTL FDR was able to strongarm the Democrats into keeping Wallace as VP and would instead succeed the former as president in 1945.)

Ulyanovsk was a project developed by the Soviet Union laid down in 1988 in what was to become the U.S.S.R.’s first nuclear-powered supercarrier, offering true blue-water naval aviation capability that could not be achieved with the smaller Kiev & Kuznetsov-class carriers. The ship would be equipped with catapults, allowing their fixed wing aircraft to operate with full loads and armaments, something that could not be achieved with Kuznetsov. However with the dissolution of the Soviet Union, and the ship in the hands of the nascent Republic of Ukraine, the newly independent country could not complete the ship and was scrapped the following year.

Namesake:
Ulyanovsk is named for the titular city that serves as the capital of its namesake Oblast. Originally known as Simbirsk, it was founded in 1648 by the boyar Bogdan Khitrovo as a frontier fortress to protect the eastern regions of the Tsardom of Russia. It received its current name in 1924 after the death of Vladimir Lenin, who was born Vladimir Ulyanov in Simbirsk in 1870, it was also the birthplace of Russian Republic President Aleksandr Kerensky and Octobrist Politician Aleksandr Protopopov. It is also widely known for being the home of a number of Russian authors and writers, including Ivan Goncharov, Nikolay Yazykov and Nikolay Karamzin. The city was designated as a “City of Literature'' by UNESCO in 2015.
Historically no warship in the Soviet or Russian Navy was ever commissioned as Ulyanovsk.

• Hammerfist of the Revolution: Can launch missiles. If this ship launches a missile strike, launch a unique missile barrage, damage is based on skill level. When launching an airstrike, launch a Kamov Ka-27 that will hover across the battlefield for 15 seconds. While the helicopter is in the air, increase the Vanguard ships ASW by 10% (20%). The helicopter can launch torpedoes and can also be shot down.
• The Fighting Tsar of the Iron Curtain: If this ship is the flagship, increase the Firepower, Torpedo, Anti-Air and Aviation of all Northern Parliament ships by 15% (45%)
• Iskra (The Spark): At the start of battle and every 60 seconds afterwards, 50% (100%) chance of launching a Yak-44 AEW aircraft, which increases the hit chance by 50% crit chance by 30% and increases critical damage by 25%.

Ulyanovsk is a person who could be considered passionate and hot-blooded to her beliefs. A rough speaker who could come off as a delinquent at times, she does care about those in her charge and will fight to defend them, however she also has blood knight tendencies in her own right, often acting enthusiastic about getting into fights herself, in spite of the fact that her position would (usually) prohibit her from doing so.

Design:
Ulyanovsk is depicted as a woman in her mid-thirties with white lower-back length hair and red strands along the bangs on the side of her hair and the base at her back. On the top of her head are hair buns on each side, resembling the ears of a bear. Ulyanovsk has aquamarine blue eyes. Her attire, as typically seen with Northern Parliament style, is a white open winter long coat with fur line trim around the neckline and the base. Underneath is a black tight-fitting suit with a low neck-line. A black short pants, long stockings and white shoes round out the attire. Ulyanovsk also carries in her hand a large sledgehammer, akin to the hammer depicted on the flag of the Union of Soviet Republics, with the center of the hammer engraved with the emblem of the Northern Parliament.
Ulyanovsk’s rigging, based on the living rigging of many of her faction’s ships borrows cues from the rigging of August von Parseval, taking the form of a silvery mechanical dragon with what appears to be a giant chain necklace with the Emblem of the Northern Parliament in the center (with a Red Star) The wings form the runways, with each side featuring a Yak-44, the right wing having a parked MiG-29K and the left wing a parked Su-33.

This ship was suggested to me by u/valhallan_guardsman. I hope you enjoyed the design as I did making it.
My first Soviet/Russian character concept in two years. (And my second for the faction overall) Which seems like a shame considering the superpower status it once had, but researching Ulyanovsk did open up a can of worms that is Soviet aviation and gave me some insight. I initially thought that Russia kinda slept on Naval Aviation until much later, as it turns out, they didn't, but due to one circumstance or another (typically funding) that they wouldn't be able to achieve the ambition unlike ITTL (albeit admittedly to more unrealistic circumstances, but I'm not doing a hard scale and realistic alt-history now am I?)
Speaking of alt-histories, I'm slowly compiling all the alt-historical Cold War-era designs together under one timeline (the CVA's, Patrie, Republique and now Ulyanovsk so far) mostly as a means to try and make a coherent storyline, so expect some retcons as I try to figure out something more concrete the more ships I do from that era.

Ok so I was looking through a website called Superpower Wiki in search of some inspiration for a Science-fantasy story I’m writing and stumbled upon the page for the Superpower of Light Manipulation. As with almost every other page on the site, there was a section on the page that detailed the various other names the power is referred to in various works of fiction (e.g. Photokinesis). There was one name however, that I had never heard before called Ictiokinesis.
Originally I just assumed that the Ictio in that name translated to Light or something similar to light (e.g. glow, radiant, glimmer, etc.) in another language but when I looked up the name on Wikipedia, the closest translation I got was… Fish.
So here’s my question. Does the word Ictio translate to Light or something related to Light in another language, or did Superpower Wiki make a mistake and use the wrong name to describe the ability of Light Manipulation?

This category is separated in the following manner:

• Multiverse level+: Characters who can destroy and/or create an infinite number of universal 4-dimensional constructs.

Causality Manipulation:
The user can redirect any cause to any effect, undo anything by inverting the relation cause/effect, or even separate them entirely, making a specific effect impossible to be caused or a specific cause not producing any effect. This allows one to achieve virtually anything by redirecting the selected cause to the desired effect. A finger snap which normally causes sound and kinetic force could instead cause a sun explosion or a massive resurrection. The user could also instantly erase anything from existence, by making it's existence the cause of it's own nonexistence. Another possibility is the instant rewriting of a whole reality, by making Reality X (the current reality) the cause of Reality Y (a tailor-made one).
At high level, the user would be able to rewrite the laws of causality as a whole, essentially playing God.

1-A: Outerverse level
Characters that have no dimensional limitations, and are beyond scientific definition there of.
Basically, a being or an object which is outside and beyond all concepts of space. Things that would be considered this tier would usually but not always something completely formless, abstract, and transcendental. The usual scale does not make sense against a beyond-dimensional object. Such beings can not be affected by destruction within the confines of space, physical matter, and energy. This "space" in which there is no dimension can be the background for any dimensional space. Within such a beyond dimensional "space," a dimensional structure with any number of dimensions can be placed, because there are no restrictions regarding dimensions.
Note that all 1-A characters whose size would be considered Outerversal in size, would be beyond the scopes of dimensioned concepts.
This category is separated in the following manner:

• Low Outerverse level: Characters that are beyond all dimensional scale, i.e., dimensionless characters that are superior to dimensionality as a whole, or characters that can create/destroy structures of this magnitude.
• Outerverse level: Characters that are transcendent to the concept of dimensionality, as well as characters capable of destroying/creating such structures.
• High Outerverse level: Characters/structures that dwarf other things that fit the definition of Outerverse level to the same extent that an Outerverse level character dwarfs anything below that would fall under this definition.

Transduality is the state of being wherein an entity exists independently of, and qualitatively beyond, various dual systems, ranging from very specific, limited sets of dual distinctions to duality itself on a conceptual level. If the 0 and 1 of binary systems can be considered a duality, a transdual character’s fundamental existence might be definable as being in-between the numbers of 0 and 1, but also defined as being a “2”, or as standing outside of the code completely at the higher levels.
As it stands, Type 1 corresponds to being beyond certain kinds of dual systems (Light and Dark, in and out, Fire and Ice, Sound and Silence, etc), but not all duality, Type 2 refers to characters whose existence may be beyond all dual systems within the nature of their reality, but not duality itself on a conceptual level, Type 3 refers to characters whose fundamental nature exists beyond the concept of duality, and Type 4 refers to characters whose existence belongs to alternate logical states wherein even the distinction between duality and transduality is irrelevant, as well as, in extremely rare cases, potentially those who can access impossible binary systems beyond the transdual on a conceptual level.
Types Type 1 (Specific Transduality): Being qualitatively beyond and superior to the nature of one or several specific dual systems.
Type 2 (False General Transduality): Being qualitatively beyond and superior to the nature of all dual systems and concepts within the scope of an entire level of reality. Any non 1-A (Outerverse level) characters who transcend duality at a basic level would also qualify for this level, as space and time can be thought of as dual concepts, as well as existing within/outside spatio-temporal dimensionality.
Type 3 (True General Transduality): A state of being which is qualitatively beyond and superior to the nature of binary logic or duality at any level, including the conceptual, standing beyond the scope of all dual systems and concepts regardless of how complex they are. Such characters typically exist as contradictions within the context of their setting, and abide to dialetheic systems of logic, or are portrayed as existing within a state of single, indivisible wholeness bereft of any separation. As space and time themselves can be considered a duality, as well as the distinction between being within/outside spatio-temporal dimensionality’s limitations, this type is reserved for 1-A characters and up.
Type 4 (Plurality): A state of being which is qualitatively beyond and superior to the nature of even the distinction between duality and transduality. Such characters will usually not obey the laws of normal logic at any level, and will obey completely different systems of logic altogether, up to and including those states which are beyond human comprehension. A basic example of Plurality is characters whose fundamental nature operates under many-valued or certain kinds of non-classical logic, where many different values can exist that are not true or false, 0/1/2, or any dichotomies in between. However, simply being able to use many-valued logic in a feat context does not qualify a character for this type, such characters must demonstrate true qualitative superiority to all types of dual distinctions. Naturally, only 1-A characters and up can have this type, as it exists outside all possible dual distinctions.
Transduality, as is used/portrayed in fiction, is mainly a philosophical or theological concept, although its foundations lay within real logic and mathematics. However, even though we can construct non-dual mathematical and logical models, this, similar to our inability to perceive higher dimensions of space and time, will not allow us to truly grasp the scope of non-dual systems, since the foundations of our logic (classical logic within mathematics) are all based off binary distinctions.
Additionally, simply being 1-A (Outerverse level) and a transdual entity is not necessarily enough to qualify for Type 3; a 1-A or higher character can qualify for Types 1 or 2 as well if the characters in question do not transcend fundamental dual principles or concepts on a basic level, or only transcend some non-universal dual qualities, but not all, or who only exist beyond duality on only some levels and not all possible levels.

Many people when think of fantasy (or any genre really) books written by a Christian author, they often think of books that are free of swearing and any mention of sex, with often some sort of "sermon" or something by a character. Those are perfectly fine things to read and write, and that is what I expected from R. J. Anderson on these books when I first read them. I was pleasantly --yet uncomfortably-- surprised.
In Ultraviolet, Alison is a girl with a mental issue that claims she killed her school's bully. She is admitted into a mental ward with other insane teenagers, were she starts to realize that she didn't actually kill the bully, but witnessed some sort of crime which emotionally scarred her. With the help of a doctor specifically assigned to her case, Alison must put pieces together to find what truly happened. There are several instances in this book which cause it to be fantasy/sci-fi, but telling them would spoil some major plot twists.
Quicksilver is about one of Alison's friends, Tori, who moves across country. After a character from Ultraviolet appears telling her she is in danger, Tori must recruit the help of old and new friends to help her defeat an alien drone following her.
Neither book is perfect, and if you are looking for a cozy read that will make you feel good, these are not the books you are looking for. However, some of the biggest flaws people raise are what make these books stick out to me, especially in my mid-teenager years. Firstly, there is a case of an older teen who falls in love with a 20-year-old in the course of the duology, with a one or two mentions of them looking like "they were ready to start sex" or something in the second book. Secondly, there is a character in the first book who makes a few derogatory comments towards one or two people groups (he's insane and uses manipulation, which is why he said those comments toward Alison). Thirdly, there are several uses of heavier swear words in both books. Finally (and the biggest one) is the fractured and unclear events in the plot cause many to become confused (however, confusion is what drives the plot forward).
Another "negative" many people have (but it is purposely exaggerated for the plot), is that it treats Synesthesia and Tetrachromacy as superpowers instead of a mildly cool thing your brain does. However, I was not bothered by that.
Probably my biggest two things I liked about the books were the questions they raised and the unexpected fantasy/sci-fi twists that happened. The first book questions sanity and perceptions of reality, whereas the second one asks "what does being human look like?" and "what would you sacrifice for family?". The sci-fi twists would cause to many plot spoilers, so I'll avoid them. One minor thing I really appreciated: A boyfriend wannabe is never the villain, and actually a kind of nice guy (something I don't see often in books written for teens).
If you want a good book that leaves you warm and fuzzy on the inside, go find something else. If you hate books with confusing plots or anything I put in the third paragraph, these books aren't for you. But for me, this was an uncomfortably delightful breath of fresh air.

Penny fell asleep, noticing quickly that Nilnacrawla wasn't with her as she'd hoped. She was clothed in a dark black dress, sitting across from the old man at a table. A veritable feast lay atop it, but she ignored it entirely, focusing instead on the man who'd caused her so much pain and grief but also may be the only thing left out of billions of humans who'd died in the past.
The old man was looking taller and fuller but still with wrinkles on his face. His short white hair fell to his ears, and his eyes shined with green light. The aura of power around him was unmistakable and made her instincts want to turn tail and run. Penny, however, wasn't an animal and didn't even twitch, wrestling her mind back into control with an iron grip. She'd gotten better at doing that over the decades of her life and was proud of it.
"So," Penny said, uncertainly gazing at the old man. "You're Death."
"Sort of. Though not in the way you'd expect."
"How does that work exactly?"
"I embody the concept of death, though not necessarily because that's what I do. I don't kill people or really interfere with the process of their dying or living. I'm not the ferryman, and I'm not Shalaka, either."
"Who's that?"
"The being that the Guulin believe takes them to be with the Devourer after they die."
"Ah," Penny replied. "So look, I'm not going to apologize for how I acted when we last spoke. You didn't exactly create a warm and fuzzy feeling my making me experience my own body burning."
"I am aware. I am not sorry, because you needed it."
"Did I?"
"Yes. Anyway, I presume you're here to ask me something, with what Nova told you."
"I am. Why help us?"
"Us? I'm helping myself, through helping you. Or more specifically, the champion of Humanity."
"Champion?"
"Well, yes. You are the strongest human alive, by psychic energy. That means you qualify."Penny sighed. "How am I helping you?"
"Well, life as a concept is difficult. In some ways, it influences us. Conceptual recursion, we call it. It makes beings like Fate more moody, and willing to get into arguments with those that she sees as defying her. As for me, it means that I cannot manifest myself directly without a source of psychic energy to feed upon.
"Death's smile was warm, contrasting with the coldness Penny felt at his words."You're feeding on my mind?"
"Yours and Nilnacrawla's, though not in a harmful way. It's a creek from a river that I'm taking. And don't bother trying to excise me. You can't."
"You see, this is why I don't like you."
The old man smiled. "Honestly, I like it more that way. Keeps things interesting. By the way, you can't trust everything that Nova says."
"I can't exactly trust everything you say, either."
"That's true. But there is less incentive for me to lie to you, when it may get you killed. You're the pinnacle of Humanity, besides the hivemind itself. But there are some things that I've been helping you with."
"What are they?"
"Have you noticed that Nilnacrawla's panic attacks are much more infrequent? Or how you're able to train with him without damage, even after using too much power for your body to contain?"
"Ah, so you're the one doing that. Do me a favor, would you. Show me what you really look like."
"It's not what you'd expect."
"My eyes aren't going to bleed, right?"
"No, they won't."
"Then do it," she said.
Death's body disappeared, as did the table. The room they were in expanded, and Penny saw something fold down from the ceiling. Stone, metal, and wood flew off the walls, and green light suffused the area. She waited, and the form slowly coalesced.
Penny's heart skipped a beat as pure power flowed into the room. Death reappeared with a changed body. Four bone horns rose from his elongated head, which now bore a snout filled with teeth too large to be able to really fit. Four arms spread from his sides, ending in six-clawed hands. Chitin and fur seemed to phase into reality against each other, fighting a constant war.
All around, he looked much more animalistic. Penny could see patches of brown on the tips of his horns and bones and rot clinging to his simultaneously strong and weak-looking arms. And yet, his energy told her that he was still not showing himself, not truly. There was something beyond, something behind. It was elsewhere but also almost here. His 'skin' was black, but also not. It didn't look like it was a real color, and she could barely understand it.
The air rang with a chorus of talking voices, which mixed in with a whisper that made the hair on the back of her neck stand up. Death's large green eyes focused on her, and she shuddered. His aura was oddly comforting and terrifying at the same time, tugging her heart and mind in opposite directions. But Penny would not break. She was better than that.
"Am I what you expected?"
Penny didn't exactly want to ruin the reveal, but she laughed. If only to ease the terror clawing at the edges of her mind. "Kind of. Thanks for not being a skeleton."
"You see, I am not like the others. By embodying the concept of death, I'm both the strongest and weakest being in existence. Bacteria, elephants, humans, Sprilnav. All of them are within my purview. However, you and all of Humanity are interesting. Your strength is finite, though growing. As for me, to describe it in words you'll understand I have the average of infinite and zero power. As for the concept of death itself, I am also dead. And yet, I cannot die because for death to die is for a concept to transcend itself. I am the end. When the universe grows cold and the last living being lets out their final breath, I will not stop existing. For I cannot die, but stars can."
"That's interesting," Penny said, processing what he had told her one piece at a time. She noticed that he'd mentioned Entropy as a real person. That made her wonder who had the most power. Realistically, entropy was the loss of energy. The concept of driving things down to nothingness, perhaps even beyond. And that might mean a conflict between them. Entropy couldn't destroy things that were truly 'dead,' in a way.
And extrapolating upon what she knew about the rungs of power in the universe made the whole situation click. The main players were the Source and Sprilnav, perhaps also the speeding space entities. But below and above, and most of all after that, was a conceptual war. Fate was real, as the hivemind had confirmed. And if Fate was able to be resisted to bring Kawtyahtnakal back from the dead, then that meant Death and Entropy could be too.
"When Kawtyahtnakal was resurrected, what did it mean to you?"
"I was... in conflict. After all, his death was sealed by fate. But fate is a separate concept, malleable at times. Death should not be, and yet it was. The idea of it disturbed me, perhaps enough to manifest with you. I was far more unbalanced."
"So you wanted to keep Kawtyahtnakal's soul?"
"Not quite. It's more that different concepts all broke in on it, leading to a conflict. Fate's grip would have been far more powerful otherwise. But even still, no mere psychic energy would have dislodged it. No, the hivemind has something different. Humanity itself is no longer entirely bound by the concepts that drive the universe, due to your acquired energy. And that was likely only possible because you evolved on a world with the Source's energy seeping into your species."
"And the Source's conceptual power surpasses your own."
"Yes, and no. With concepts, this is... odd. Difficult to explain."
Penny realized something. The real reason Death was backing her and Humanity was because he planned to use them against the other concepts. Particularly, the Ether that it had. Penny could understand the motivation to overturn the struggle. And yet, the concept of either Death or Entropy winning would mean everything else would be gone. So that meant that Humanity would have to break away from Death eventually.
"Your thoughts are quite interesting, Penny."
"My thoughts? You're invading my privacy?"
"I feed on your whole self, Penny. And do not forget that I have control over the concept of death. So that includes knowledge about the concept, and also potential situations and outcomes that could influence it, even hypothetically."
Death's eyes showed no remorse, though she guessed she shouldn't have expected it. But being backed by the concept of Death meant that others were against them. And furthermore, it meant that Humanity was an important part of the universe. They weren't destined to be another average race that would be wiped out by the Sprilnav. Already, fate had been bent in their favor. Perhaps that was the Source's doing as well.
So many possibilities exploded in her mind about what the actual reason for Humanity's good fortune could be. In part, it was certainly hard work. In other parts, it was luck.
"Is Luck a conceptual being?"
"Maybe."
"Maybe?"
"It is a fickle concept. Difficult to understand, very hard to influence. Frankly, Luck is perhaps the most powerful."
"Why?"
"Because Luck created your universe. Or at least, the concept of it."
"You exist in other universes?"
"All universes with a concept of death, at least."
The scale of it was too much for her.
"How many are there?"
"One. This one."
"You said there were others."
"They do not exist. To exist is something this universe does. Others don't exist to you. The me, at least here, only knows this because the Source can bend concepts too strongly to prevent-"
Death doubled over, grunting.
"And that?"
"Concept of... Luck."
"Luck can influence you?"
"Luck influences all, manipulating zeroes into ones, and back again. Anyway, all that matters, and all that Humanity will be able to truly access, is this one universe. There are no others, not truly."
That was a lot as well. Penny sighed. The hivemind would have a difficult time trying to parse this, too. There was so much behind the scenes and at stake that the consequences were too much to think about. Though she suspected that Humanity would at most only have to deal with the Sprilnav and the speeding space entities, not the concepts of Death and the others. The hivemind, at least from what Death was saying, had too much power for that to work, using Ether. And if Death's words were true, that meant Ether wasn't from another universe but was something else entirely. Unless, of course, he was lying. Which wasn't unlikely. Penny blinked twice, sitting down and looking up at Death again.
"So you're infinitely powerful at times, and yet you aren't?"
"In a way. Though my power is also dead, yet fueled by death. Even the light you see from my eyes is dead. Death, in the... well, not quite flesh. Cell walls I guess would be more accurate, most of the time."
"Cell walls?"
"The things that die the most are single-celled organisms. And every human's death is also countless billions of cells dying with them."
"So why didn't you manifest as a giant amoeba?"
"Well, because sapient bodies are more as a whole than apart. With the psychic energy they have, naturally, they are easier to represent."
"Your true form is a Sprilnav, isn't it?" Penny asked, thinking about who might have died the most in history.
"Yes, and no. I was not a Sprilnav, and I am not a Sprilnav. Yet, as they have died more than any other species in the universe, besides a few extremely large hiveminds, they're the sapients that I represent. In truth, I'd be much more terrifying to Sprilnav than to humans since my conceptual weight with them is heavier. Though you can't weaponize that since I can't manifest properly. When my conceptual weight increases, so too does the balanced instability that makes me. In effect, I become more 'dead,' which limits my power, ability, and impact."
"And your current form?"
"A species with the most recent Sprilnav-related deaths for a while."
Death's form folded in on itself, reappearing as the old man. He continued to look at her as she absorbed the information.
"Why the brown spots on your horns?"
"Damage."
"How?"
"That is not something I can tell you. But Penny, what I can say, is that it is a privilege to meet you, not that you know what I am."
"You're still annoying, you know."
Death laughed, sounding like a normal person again. "Yeah, I can see that. Honestly, Penny, considering your situation, I'm proud of you. You may have had a bit of a head start, but you turned it into wonderful progress."
"Compliments, now?"
"Yes."
"You're welcome. Though I can see the benefit of a cordial partnership between us, that begs the question of your past behavior. Were you directly responsible?"
"Yes. I knew what I was doing. Though I was influenced at the time, I do not deny my fault."
Penny looked him in the eyes, trying to sense if he was being genuine. "You're not going to do that again?"
"No."
"Then alright. We can start this over. I'm Penny Balica. And you and I might be able to do some wonderful things together."
"Well, I don't have much power."
"You were able to enhance my power enough to fight the psychic golems."
"I was able to do that because the Sprilnav had just killed over 14 billion people."
"What?"
"The Sprilnav unleashed a crust destabilization weapon on a planetary civilization whose AI became sentient. Everyone on that planet was killed by massive earthquakes as lava and ash blanketed it. About a year later, the last of them died as the food stores in the space stations ran out."
"Are you serious?" Penny exclaimed. It was one thing to hear about their cruelty from other species. But seeing Death and actually being told directly that they were purging a species was different.
"Yes. The last people on the planet died when every volcano in the northern mountain range erupted, showering them in volcanic rock and pyroclastic flows. 2 million people."
Penny let out a breath, anger and surprise entering her in equal measure.
"You represent them, yes?"
"I do. Their memories are mine."
"Then... can you show me? I want to understand."
Death's expression grew somber. "I take no pleasure in what I am. Many times I've hated it. There's nothing good about it. So I'll tell you, that knowing and seeing this will not ease the pain in your soul. It will get you no closer to getting the revenge you crave."
"What Yasihaut did to me is one thing. Deeply personal. But I plan to experience this memory, so that I can understand what needs to happen. And then, I want you to do a transfer."
"Transfer?"
"You let the hivemind access the minds of some recently dead humans. It didn't make sense how that was possible until I heard about what you really are. So I assume that if you have a connection to me, as the hivemind does due to me being human, you can give it the memories of the species that died."
"Giving your hivemind the memories of billions of innocent people dying is irresponsible, and likely will significantly impact its mental views."
"Yes."
"Doing that," Death said, "Would amount to ensuring that the Alliance dies. Your current pace of slower escalation and technological ascension is the best hope your species has to survive the coming storm. However, if the hivemind, in grief, rage, or spite, decides to directly attack Sprilnav centers of power, it would mean the end of your species."
"You don't have the power to predict the future."
"Penny, I am quite knowledgeable when it comes to dealing with death. My conceptual weight is most suited for Humanity. So I am the single most authoritative source in the universe right now to tell you what would happen here. If the hivemind tries to crack a world, or worse, to attack their massive megastructures built in the Triangulum galaxy, every single planet in the Alliance, whether a colony, homeworld, or even moon, would be destroyed. If you kill enough Sprilnav, they will simply detonate your stars. And if you somehow manage to disable one of those megastructures, or to kill a sizable percentage of their people, it is likely to be the catalyst for them to purge every living species in the galaxy. So I mean it when I tell you that is not a good idea."
"Then do it slowly. A few thousand per day."
"Alright. Might I remind you, every member of this species, the Cheheiser, died."
"Enough. Show me."

"Emperor Jillian, we're getting a direct call from General Darreb of the United Patriotic Army."
Jillian Morris, the Thirty-Eighth, looked at his servant. He slowly walked over, his second pair of arms dragging on the floor. The screen showed a series of Cheheis looking back at him in various forms of military regalia.
"What is it?"
"The enemy have stopped their bombardments, and we're no longer detecting any missile launches. We're getting a request for communication by the High Queen."
The High Queen was the ruler of the other superpower on the planet. They'd been at war for some time now, though it was still luckily conventional. The treaty against using nuclear weapons was holding for now.
"Allow it."
Soon, Jillian was looking at the High Queen, a woman with the longest horns on the planet. Of course, most of that was because her lineage had been practicing inbreeding, an absolutely disgusting practice. And surprisingly enough, she didn't look unhappy to see him.
"Mara. It's not quite a pleasure."
"Save it, Jillian. I'm not here to talk with you about that. You are well aware of my technological advantage when it comes to satellites, yes?"
"And I'm sure you're aware of mine when it comes to land and numbers."
"I was not being hostile. What I mean to tell you is that we have detected a series of readings we don't understand from the edge of the solar system. And now, we're detecting spaceships."
Jillian's breathing grew ragged, and his bone ridges lowered in wonder. Alien life and life that had already developed FTL. It was a truly wonderful occasion. And from the look in Jillian's eyes, maybe something else was at play.
"How large?"
"They're estimated to be over 3000 arms long each."
"That's... over three times the size of an aircraft carrier."
"Yes," Mara said. "The thing is that I propose a truce."
"A truce? Why? Didn't you declare the war?"
"These ships are going to change our lives. And not necessarily for the better."
"Is this related to the sudden wild changes to your tactics around a year ago?"
Mara's face said it all. His informants had thought that she'd had some sort of secret program up, but hadn't been able to deliver anything concrete. Although...
"The only thing that would change that would be if you developed a better virtual AI. Though given the presence of our new friends, perhaps not."
Jillian guessed that he was close. But before he could say anything more, the call disappeared. The screen was replaced with an alien face. It was red, with a snout and split jaws. A malicious intelligence shone within them, accompanied by a clear and smug superiority.
"Ah, so it's you who rules this weak little planet. You and the woman."
"The Cheheiser are not weak, alien. Tell us, what is your name?"
"I am from the Sprilnav, and am known as an Elder. We are the civilization that rules the galaxy. If you're wondering why alien civilizations exist but haven't taken your system for themselves already, you have us to thank for that."
The voice sounded feminine, so he assumed the Sprilnav here was female. He noted that her voice didn't have an accent, as if she had known his language her entire life. Though if she was called an Elder, then she was not young. Not unless her species had short lifespans. So many questions whirled through his mind, and his second pair of arms folded across his chest. The first pair rubbed his horns.
"Why have you come to meet us now? We can prepare a full celebration for you, if you wish."
"Your species has made a sentient AI, with a quantum signature."
"We have done no such thing."
"Your other nation might say something different. Anyway, the law is clear on the matter."
Jillian felt a coldness grip his heart as his guards tightened their grip on their guns. But he got the feeling he couldn't shoot his way out of this. He had to talk to get this being to listen to him. So far, she clearly wanted to.
"The law?"
"Yes. Your species will be wiped from this planet."
His eyes widened. "Why? Can't you just go into the facility that houses it and disable it naturally?"
"Yes, we could. But that isn't as much fun."
Jillian snarled. "Fun? You speak of killing billions as fun?"
"I do," the Elder said. "I've been having a rough time lately. I needed an outlet, something to calm me down."
He almost screamed at her but knew he needed to give his nuclear missiles time to activate. He sent a silent message to the entire army, using the blue button indicating that the missiles needed to be calibrated to strike aerial targets. It wouldn't take his technicians long.
Furthermore, on some of the television screens to his left, he saw images of massive grey or black hulls descending through the atmosphere over the largest cities in the world. Their guns alone were as long as some smaller ships in his navy.
"Please, we can talk this out. I'll do anything you want."
"Yeah, you'll do everything I'll want. Tell you what, I'm liking your attitude, little Emperor. So I'll give you a reward. I won't nuke your planet, and I'll give your missiles a chance to hit my ships. If you don't launch them, it'll be worse for you."
"Don't you want slaves? Workers?"
"Please, automation makes all that unnecessary. And you're a lower lifeform. There's nothing that the Sprilnav need from you. We're going to hit you with crust crackers. Your world will die by fire."
"Please, don't do this. You're killing children. Loving fathers. Innocent eggs. There's no need-"
The Sprilnav's jaw split open into a wide grin. It clearly enjoyed his begging.
"Yes, there is. I want to feel a bit better. And 14.6 billion lower lifeforms is plenty for that. Oh, and you wanted my name, right? I'll tell you, as another gift. I'm Elder Yasihaut."

"Fire," Jillian declared, wiping the tears from his eyes. He wished it wouldn't be like this. His entire species might die. But there was one bit of good news. The truce had gone through. He'd already made a short address to his people, telling them not to be scared.
He didn't think it had worked very well.
Already, there were riots and protests. After Yasihaut had hacked his network, it had returned to normal again. And so he waited as the first wave of missiles from his and Mara's coordinated strike hit. Yasihaut had talked with her too, somehow at the same time as she had with him. Maybe it was some futuristic technology, like holograms or something equally far-fetched.
And the nukes began to fly. They detonated on the descending ships, only to be repelled by masses of blue light that he guessed were shields. The nearest Sprilnav ship fired a weapon at the planet. Suddenly, the cameras of the war started showing massive earthquakes. Yasihaut's voice came on the phone again, unprompted.
"Well, have fun dying, Jillian. I'm going to go watch your empire burn. Gotta say, those fires are warming my heart."
Jillian released a silent wish as he saw massive cracks and gaping caverns open between collapsing skyscrapers. News feeds started cutting out, one by one.
Whoever's listening to me, if there is a god, or anything else. Please, let my death and those of my people bring her own. Yasihaut must die. Universe, I ask you to punish this injustice a thousandfold.

There's something I'm not quite sure I understand about aligment restrictions. Based on the table on the wiki, as a chaotic neutral (but slowly shifting towards chaotic good) character, seems Trickster and Azata would fit .
Current class is Feyform shifter. I really wanted to try this class because it looked unique, but I was lost at first and had to follow a guide. According to it, mechanically the best mythic path would be trickster then legend. Kinda want to go full mythic though since legend seems mostly for gameplay and I want as much story as i can. Pure trickster is probably fine too (?).
Thing is morally with the shift towards chaotic good, Azata seems better for roleplay reasons. Mechanically it's probably worse but seems the superpowers won't be useless either. I'm playing on normal anyway.Leaning towards Azata, but it would probably push towards chaotic good even more, isn't that likely to cause problems with the fact shifters are locked to "neutral" types? or is that only "real" druids?
Googling it I thought if i do change alignment I could always use a scroll of atonement, but I read somewhere mythic paths may change the scroll's behaviour?

There are a lot of pokemon throughout the series and some of them have unique type combos, however a fair amount of times these type combos aren't always on the same pokemon and usually in a few generations a pokemon with that same type combo comes around. So use a unique type combination and create a new mon with it that fills a different role.

The example I used was Grass/Rock which is currently only used by the Cradily line who have stats focused on being a mixed wall. To make this mon different I decided to great an more vague horned nimble ungulate animal with traits of things like equine, rams, and deer thrown in as this guy will be a physical attacker.
