I am new to this forum but after reading a lot of posts, I want to share my thoughts about CB strategy. TL;DR: BofA cash rewards cards should be the best solution for CB, assuming one has 100K to invest via BofA/Merrill Lynch.
I am in the team of CB (as compared to points/rewards), so I deliberately maximize CB across my overall spending. I have 2 CFF, 2 CCC, 1 Discover IT, 1 US Bank Cash+, 5 BoA Cash rewards and 1 BoA Unlimited rewards as my catch-all cards.
Luckily I have $100K+ invested in index fund at Merill Lynch, which qualifies me to earn their highest tier CB with 2.625% for catch all purchases and 5.25% for category purchases.
Initially, I used CFF, CCC, Discover for 5%, but the biggest drawback is lack of control over categories, and I feel my CB is at the mercy of these banks' choice of decisions. In good quarters I can maximize CB to quarterly caps, but most quarters I left a lot on the table.
In the past few years, I switched my main system to BoA, and am very happy with it. I hardly use CCC/CFF/Discover even in their 5% quarters, since BoA can reach 5.25% reiably. In particular BoA's cards have a lot of good characteristics that I feel people may not realize:

1. BoA's category definition is much broader than most other issuers in the market. For example, their travel category includes a lot of entertainment purchases such as amusement and museums. The home improvement category covers lots of contractor charges, etc.
2. BoA's category is flexible and can be changed so that 5 of my cards cover different categories at any given point. Unlike CFF/Discover, having multiple BoA cards allow me to sync my cards as a "team"
3. They have a powerful category called "online", which covers a lot of purchases that no other issuers will give bonus CB. Online category accounts for at least 2/3 of all the category 5.25% CB I get overall.
4. Their cap is 2500 per quarter, which is much more generous than 1500 per quarter (CFF or Discover) or 500 per month (CCC)

Besides BoA, I used US Bank Cash+ to pay utilities (5%), and CCCs for grocery sometimes (5%). I minimize usage of catch-all purchases (2.625%) except for things like property tax, insurance, income tax and tuition. I do that by buying (a lot) VGCs to convert those purchases into 5% CB.
So far, I haven't seen any other strategies that can beat my setup, except for people who play points/rewards game and they value points with multipliers.

If you haven't heard about the Riese complex, let me shed some light on its history. It is one of the most mysterious and largest projects constructed by the Third Reich during World War II in the Owl Mountains.
The complex is a network of underground cities dug into some of the hardest rocks in the world - gneiss rocks. Additionally, these areas are rich in rare elements such as uranium.
To this day, no one knows its intended purpose. Was it supposed to be Hitler's main headquarters, an ammunition depot, or were the Germans working on some super-secret weapon there? Virtually no documents have survived, and the mysteriousness of this facility is further emphasized by the fact that after the war, there were special units and secret agents in the Owl Mountains guarding something. But what exactly?
We are creating a game based on the history of this place. An ambitious and challenging game in which the player will have to use their head and intellect to put all puzzle pieces together to uncover the secret we discovered. It's a mix of escape room, Indiana Jones, and Uncharted. Lots of puzzles, but not obvious ones. We want to prepare the gameplay to such an extent that players get frustrated, take off their glasses and say: "I won't play this," but when they go to work or school, they will constantly think about how to solve a given puzzle and move forward.
In the game's prologue, which offers 3 to 5 hours of VR gameplay, we embody the character of Anna. We are thrown in at the deep end, right in the middle of the plot. From the start, the player must be very observant to find out: who they are, what they're doing here, what Anna is looking for, what she has found already, and what she might find next. And how to find out everything about our character and find your bearings in the middle of the story? We have prepared a real phone in the game with a full operating system. You have to listen to her hints but also "dig through" her phone where her messages, notes, photos, voice recordings are stored. The phone itself has many different additional features, including a camera needed to take photos in the game to save clues we find. Clues are hidden everywhere. This is just one of many "goodies" we are preparing for players.
In the full version of the game, we do not embody any character. We are writing the script so that everyone who puts on the glasses becomes the main character, so that they experience the adventure, the mystery, and can fully immerse themselves in it. We will also be shifting between two times - the present and World War II. At the moment, we have outlines for 40 chapters, which we will be developing.
Interestingly, the player's main base is a real location. It's the building "Szyprówka Chata pod Sową", which stands in Sokolec, near the Riese complex. As a curiosity, I'll tell you that before we started working on the game, the entire team actually stayed in this building and toured the Riese complex for three days. And we have transferred this building 1:1 into our game. The player will be able to physically travel to this place and see that this building truly exists. Of course, we are also scanning locations from the Riese complex. We're blending reality with fiction while paying attention to every detail.
We are creating the game in the UE5 engine. We are proud of what we have achieved, perhaps as the first in the world. Last month, we implemented technological solutions to VR like Lumen and Nanite - fully optimized. The graphic design and the story itself will ensure that players will delve into the world of The Riese Project.

I wouldn't consider myself in poverty, but the last couple of years money has been tight. Any time I would think I'm getting caught up or ahead, BOOM some new unexpected expense would pop up and set me back to pinching pennies again.
I have a full time job that pays ok for the area I live in, and in a safe industry. However, I dislike the job, and my boss is a chronic liar with possible early dementia.
After what seems like 1000's of interviews I had, I would get the "no", no response back, or the offer would be a lesser or worse job than I have now.
Until yesterday! I accepted a new job that's a little closer to my house, in a recession proof industry, better pay, better scheduled hours, and WAY better benefits (401k matching, a lot of vacation days, profit sharing, sick days, really good health insurance and dental coverage you name it).

Like actually I get it in the first few months it kinda was exciting but it’s been over a year & this man has carved out hours of each day to paying close attention to every centimeter gained and lost in the front line… NO ONE FUCKING CARES

I work for a specific company so I go to many different schools, but I found myself working at the same one often the past couple weeks. Always in different positions and classrooms, going above and beyond and doing anything I could to help. It was my best paying job.
I worked there this week as a third grade teacher. The teacher left very little help in terms of sub plans except that they had a packet to do, and scheduled brain breaks. I followed those as best I could but it’s the end of the year and the kids just weren’t having it. They weren’t being unusually disruptive, they just didn’t want to do the packet and would talk to their friends instead. I did everything I knew how to do, set timers, used the behavior board, and let them know the consequences but I also wasn’t taking it too seriously or personally because it’s not my class and again, it’s almost summer and they are 9. I figured this was pretty standard. (Side note: I often bring a book so I’m not on my phone and I would have it out and be half reading it during breaks and lulls where they were actually working and I wasn’t walking around the classroom. Otherwise I would just have been staring at them for 8 hours)
I had a TA that I hadn’t worked with previously come in and out and I had told her that while leaving a note for the teacher they probably weren’t going to finish the packet by the end of the day, just as a heads up. She SNAPPED at me and told me if I was better and was on the kids they would. I didn’t know what to say she left so quickly after, and I just tried to put it out of my head. Everyone else’s I had worked with at that school was really nice and seemed to like me but she was as unhelpful and rude as she could have been that day. I truly have no idea what I could have done better or what she expected of me, I can’t force kids to do work. Well come to find out that she told my company that I “let the kids run around “ (only during brain breaks which is encouraged and again ON THE SUB PLAN) and some other things that just weren’t true. My company said the school non preferred me now but otherwise I was fine and it is what it is but that was my best paycheck and I’m so mad. I don’t even want to be doing this job, this is just to support my career but I’m doing the best I can to help the kids and do what I’m asked and this b* of a TA just ruined my best source of income for reasons I still don’t know.
TLDR: TA got me “banned” from my best paying job for no reason.

Backstory: My wife and I purchase our first home three years ago. At the time I was working on restaurant out of state (design work) and hit it off with the AV consultant. Started talking home automation and what would be a good fit for DIY. Took the opportunity to prewire my house during renovation and he was gracious enough to sell me all the hardware at cost as well as offer to do some remote programming. He spent a lot of time helping me coordinate the infrastructure, I spent a lot of time and money doing it but most rewarding was learning and figuring out how this all works. Certainly became a hobby.
Anyway, they’re extremely busy all the time working on million dollar houses. I’ve got 1450 sf…I’ve successfully been able to work out one day of remote programming and a previously couple hours here or there configuring network - I’m two years down the road and they don’t have time to help. Always offering to pay, dropping “how y’all looking, any free time” every couple months, even sent expensive bottle of booze to hopefully keep me front of mind just because…its embarrassing. Im so close, all the backend stuff is configured in Accelerator, I just need the final two ways setup for lights/audio then voice. TVs communicating, but TC user interface needs to be purged of useless menus.
There’s almost no one locally to Louisiana who messes with URC. Are there any remote programming services available to recommendations for companies outside the dealer who sold me the stuff? Anyone come to mind akin to, “oh ____ is a wiz, he could knockout a 1500 sf project in a day”??

I think this one is going to be unpopular not because you all disagree with me, but because most of you don't particularly care about the process by which your bread was made.
Here's the problem. Bread can be made by any number of different processes, and they'll all yield very different results. The Chorleywood process is used to make the fluffy white bread which is hated by snobs around the world and just about perfect for a grilled cheese sandwich. A way to get something similarly soft but a bit more substantial at home would be to use a tong zhang. Then if you want something which really has a great fermented flavor, you'll let the dough (or a portion of it) ferment for a long time--up to 72 hours for some breads.
All of that is stuff I want to know before I buy the bread. Something like "whole wheat bread" or "sandwich bread" doesn't actually give me much. A whole wheat bread could be a crumbly affair that was finished in 3 hours from start to finish, or it could be a glorious beery-tasting 72-hour one, or anywhere in between--and they might even look almost the same from the outside. Neither type is necessarily wrong, but they're different styles of bread which are good with different things.
So I don't just want to see, say, "sourdough bread". I want to see "Chorleywood sourdough bread" or "48-hour preferment sourdough bread". I don't want to see "baguette"; I want to see "4-hour bulk proof baguette". I don't want to see "milk bread"; I want to see "milk bread with tong zhang". I don't want to see "honey whole wheat bread"; I want to see "honey whole wheat bread with 6-hour bulk ferment".
This sort of thing still doesn't specify exactly what the bread will taste like, what its texture will be, or what things it will be best suited for, but it will get closer.
Now, you might say, "Just figure it out!" Well, I don't want to interview the bakery people about every kind of bread they sell every time I go to a new bakery. You can't always tell from the packaging, since there are bakeries that package up their bread and make it look like commercial Chorleywood bread, and sometimes Chorleywood bread is shaped and packaged as if it were made by a more regular process. But it would be obvious if the process had just been written.
You might also say "Only bread geeks like you will even care!" Well, maybe only bread geeks like me would care at first. But if you pay attention at all, you'll soon learn the difference between a Chorleywood bread and a lean bread, the difference between bread made with a long preferment and one made only with a short bulk proof. If this sort of thing were always written, then soon the meanings of these different processes would be clear to everyone. I think that would be a great thing.
The way a bread is made is fundamental to what it is. The length of time you ferment it for honestly has as much impact on the flavor as the ingredients. And a Chorleywood bread is as different from a non-Chorleywood bread as a cake is different from a cookie. So why don't we just write out this sort of thing all the time?

My son went to the movies with his cousins yesterday... when he came home he said that he wasn't able to use my bank card because when he tried to pay (he always takes my card when he meets his friends because i don't want him to use cash, he has been doing so for the last 2 years) the Person in the counter said that the machine had a defect. He says they tried 2 times and then the Pathé staff told him to just go ahead and watch the movie without paying because the machine was stuck on a loop and couldn't process the payment.
So far so good until later that day I receive a charge of 20 Francs for Microsoft, and this morning at 6am there was another attempt of 30 Francs to be charged which couldn't go through because there was not enough money anymore. For context, in our household, no has or is subscribed to a Microsoft product and this "suspicious activity" has never happened before which makes me seriously assume that there has been a possible wrongdoing from the cinema staff either copying the card details or some other creative shenanigan.

To start I’m an experienced engineer with 3-5 years experience in various engineer roles in tech. A few weeks ago I realized I could make extra money by starting a business that does various technology related work for commercial and residential. Like most companies, you must disclose your side hustle to ensure no conflicts of interest are present to prevent breach of contractual agreements.
Basically I went above my bosses head to disclose the information to my department President as I thought this was the person to go to. My President told me that another department actually really needs someone like me and encouraged me to meet with my CTO to discuss the opportunity. I met with my CTO the next day and he was excited for me to be pursuing this role but also said i should think if I truly want my own side business or not because he would not want to discourage me from pursuing an entrepreneurial endeavor. Basically he told me he’d get me in the position if I passed an exam which I had no problem doing.
The next day comes and my boss comes back from vacation, and I thought it was courteous to disclose to him what I had discussed with our president and CTO.
He completely went off the rails and basically attacked me for going above his head and didn’t understand why I would even do such a thing. I told him I wanted to start a side business for more money and thought I was supposed to go to the President to sign off on it. He said it seems like I was trying to go penny pinching by asking for extra money on my paycheck. He then proceeded to say “why wouldn’t I just think about working at Walmart for extra money instead of starting a side business,” even though I work 50-55 hours a week as is. He then questioned the CTO opening a door for me to pursue a new career that pays a lot more money. I was in complete shock, and he sort of back tracked in the end. He lastly said well whatever you need to do for yourself I’ll help you get what you need for your exam. I said okay thanks and that was the end of it. I’ve been so absorbed mentally in that conversation that I can’t even think about starting the exam for some reason. I just need some advice on what to do in this current situation. There doesn’t seem to be any bad blood between us but my blood boils every time I think about this conversation. It makes me not even want to work at this company anymore even though everyone else was supportive.
Tldr; told my boss our cto offered me a new opportunity for more money if I passed an exam instead of me starting a side business for extra cash. I bought the playstation before we started dating. I only plaid minecraft and crush bandicoot and so on. I wasn't using it that often and wasn't really attached to it. He however loved that playstation and couldn't stop playing fall out and elder something and God of war for hours at a time. Really killed my soul cause I had to do everything. And I had to get up several times at night to ask him to come to bed.
We decided we needed to start walking in the afternoon, we needed exercise. But when ever I got ready and went for a walk he would back out and stay home to play games instead. I was getting really annoyed.
One Saterday morning I decided to walk to the nearby shop to get bananas. I invited him to come and he said no again so I left. When I got home he was annoyed that I didn't get him chips.
This just set me off and I lost it. We had a huge fight. I complained that he doesn't work, pay for anything or do chores and he reminded me that I owe him R 50 for when I short buying groceries for the house. It ended him leaving to his Mom after breaking up with me for being to naggy (he lived with me at the time) . I was actually happy. In the week hê was gone the work around the house was half. The water and elec bill was so much less and I even had time to chill and do fun things.
After a week he wanted to talk and he told me that he was giving me the chance to apology if I want him to come back. I said no I thought about it and decided we are better of seperated. He wasnt happy and said he wanted his R50. Which I send through post, lol.
He contacted me again and asked when he can get HIS playstation. I said I sold it for R50 to pay him back. And he lost it. Saying I Had no right to sell his playstation. I reminded him I bought it long before I met him but apparently since I wasn't using it, and he was the only one using it, it means it's his??.
The only reason I wasn't using it was because I was doing all the chores and never had time and when I did have time he didn't want to give me a turn.

For context my mom is nearly forty and is having (well has had) her 4th child. Why is she having another kid when she already has more than she can handle you may ask? Because she recently got married and you HAVE to give a man a child when you get married (her words not mine.). But it's not like she didn't want another kid anyway and with the way she doesn't believe in condoms or birth control it was bound to happen. Now my mom is a grown woman and she is allowed to do whatever she wants but that doesn't mean I agree with her decisions or that she is free of my criticism.
First of all it's putting alot of financial strain on them. Before she met they guy she was a single mom. The guy has 1 kid from a previous relationship so that's 5 kids between the two of them that they are providing for. And they both work relatively normal jobs, don't make that much to be honest and have debts and loans they need to clear so you can imagine what a struggle it is. My older sister refuses to go to university or college or get a job so she's just staying at home and they are providing for her. My mom is also paying for my tuition (in my final year of highschool) and has to pay my tuition for college/university as well (not to mention the tuition of probably 4 other kids.). My little sister has autism and so she has special needs and also has speech therapy and other expensive things my mom has to pay for. The kid that was just born was a premature and so they have to pay those massive hospital bills and travelling fees every week since the hospital is like 3 hours away. Not to mention that my aunt (who is younger than me) started living with us like a year ago and she has medical issues that need to be sorted out every month. My mom also provides for my grandma who has a myriad of health issues cuz of her old age and her partner regularly supports his family members and his church. Not to mention my mom is just now building a house (well both of them I guess) so that's more money out the window. Now why do I care so much about their finances you may ask? Because my mom makes it a point to tell me near daily how stretched thin they are and how expensive everything is (she has even propositioned me to drop out of school and take care of her kids for free and it didn't sound like a joke.) Mind you this was well before the child was even conceived, before she even met the guy so why would you have another kid knowing full well that it's going to be hard to provide for them (all of them). It just seems senseless to me and I even asked my grandma why didn't they wait until they were financially more stable to breed and my grandma just told me a bunch of shit about how my mom has to give this man a child no matter what it takes and she's all happy and excited for the child (and my mom's last pregnancy nearly killed her but she forgot the immense pain she was in I guess?) I just don't get this logic at all, why have kids if you can't afford them and then come and bitch to me everyday about how much money you spend and how much you provide for me (doing the bare minimum mind you cuz there isn't funds for much else) but you make the conscious decision to have another kid and then be all excited about that baby while still complaining about money? I don't get it. She especially loves to target me to complain about her finances for some reason and makes me feel bad for, idk, living I guess?
Anyway onto the next problem the child is coming right so she's excited and wants to make sure we're excited but I'm not. I don't like or want kids anyway and she knows this but I guess she thinks it doesn't apply to her baby cuz "a baby brother only comes once in a lifetime" (her words) . I literally don't care. Anytime she and my grandma try to talk about the kid to me I just tune out or change the topic. I don't necessarily hate this kid (I'm not beefing with an infant.) and no matter how hard she tries to make my apathy seem like jealously (I guess it makes her feel better) I truly do feel nothing and probably won't ever be able to connect with this kid ever since there is nearly a 20 year age gap between us and I'm probably going to leave for varsity between the next year or the one after that. I don't even feel like I have a sibling? Its probably weird and heartless-ish to some people but I don't care. I've already made my stance on helping out with the baby clear: I will not be helping out at all cuz I took care of my little sister when she was born ( literally changed her diaper and shit while gagging for YEARS because according to her "I have to prepare for when I have my own kid" barf and this was when I was like 10. Look where we are now) I'm not keen on doing it again or ever. Before the baby was born she was like whatever I don't need your help anyway but now that its here she's like "you don't have a choice you're going to help anyway" and now I'm scared cuz my mom usually makes the whole family turn against someone whenever she's mad at them but I'm still going to try and stand my ground. Not to mention that this is my last year of highschool and probably my most important so I need to focus and having a whiny baby around is not gonna help that at all. I'm already stressed since we live in a cramped 2 bedroom house (all of us) and I sleep in the living room with no private space and a whole lotta noise so I can't concentrate and a baby is just really going to amplify that stress. Luckily it's not gonna live with us as of now but who knows how that might change. Maybe I'm just being a moody teen idk but I kinda hate my life right now.
Last problem (not really but last one I'm gonna rant about cuz this is getting too long lol). My mom is more excited for this kid than she ever was for the rest of us and why is that you may ask? Because it's a boy and she's always wanted a boy but only ever got girls (part of the reason why she even decided to have another in the first place). If you read my whole rant thank you lending an ear (or eyes I guess). I'm dreaming about the day I can leave this shitshow behind and pursue my own life. I just felt like I needed to rant today since they're picking up the baby from the hospital to come and live with them. All in all judging by mom and her partner having kids just seems like no fun and a whole lotta stress. My mom has high blood pressure and blames it on her kids but I guess she forgets that every time she sees a picture of her new baby. I'd rather keep all my money, freedom and peace of mind to myself thank you.

Seeking for opinions
Hi guys, I'm living in southern California, around San Deigo area. I'm staying home taking care of my infant ( unemployed) and I would like to have more time with her. Real estate investing seems promising but I have zero experience.
I currently have 1 condo ~ 450k ( pulling 1.5k/ month) and my house ~1mil. All paid for. Would it be possible to take out a loan on them to buy new houses and turn it into something profitable? I'm thinking getting a loan of around 50-80% the value to get 2 condo or a house. I know the interest rate is high at the moment and would not be wise to do so and i should wait for it to go down below 5% ? Will they generate enough cash to pay for themselves?
I know i should talk to my bank first but would love to hear from everyone on Reddit. Thank you first for your advices and opinions.
