I honestly don't know how best to go about this, however I will start with the subject matter, being my father passed away late last year.
Sadly, he played a very small part in mine and my sisters life. Without going off subject, he was a heavy drinker, abusive man and left my Mum, when we (my sister and I), were very young!
I would be lying if I suggested there was no contact, because admittedly we did visit him on weekends/school holidays and I/we do have memories of time spent with him.
However, growing up through life, naturally my sister and I amongst everything else that comes with adulthood, matured and became wiser. As a result, if anyone has had a similar life scenario can relate, you wise up, you reflect on things and appreciate the traumatic and hard life our Mum experienced.
Therefore, consequently contact with our father became less and less and he made very little effort to change that, until basically the day he died. So much so, we didn't have any recollection of his death, until my sister saw a post on Facebook, and regardless of our opinions/relationship with him, it has hurt us.
Ok, enough life history and back to the purpose of this post and all the complicated stuff..
Upon retiring, my dad decided to jump ship and move to Greece (from the UK), which was ultimately his final place of rest. However, despite spending the majority of his life here in the UK, he was born in New Zealand, where with the exception of his ex wife and kids (my Mum, sister and I) all his family are.
How much contact he had with them, I simply don't know but very evidently there was enough for all the relevant documents that come with death, and personal things (bank cards/statements, passport, mobile phone etc) to end up in the hands of a sister of his.
This only came to our attention after my sister reached out to the sister in New Zealand via Messenger to express our sorrow at having no knowledge of his death at the time. Ordinarily, such conversation would be a niece and aunty speaking after losing their father and brother respectfully, but this is different. We have never met, spoken with or had association with any "family" in New Zealand, because such opportunity was never possible.
At the time, I specifically remember my sister's relief, surprise and general peace of mind after how the nature of the conversation turn video-call was so pleasant! Amongst the pleasantries, my sister was informed of, I quote, "a substantial amount of money" left by our father, thus being his children and not being married or having a civil partner will inherit his estate. The reason being, he died without leaving a will, therefore from a legal perspective, intestate.
The pleasantries soon turned very sour as our request to see any relevant paperwork or just have some kind of knowledge of our fathers assets, were met with what I can only describe as blackmail tactics, "only prepared to supply the requested information and documentation on payment of $10000 (NZD)".
Astoundingly, this request didn't come directly from the sister, but her lawyer in New Zealand. Furthermore, we were both subsequently blocked on messengeFB by the sister, a woman I must add, in her 70's who has absolutely zero knowledge on lives we have both experienced.
To confirm, we had no knowledge at the time of our Dad's death, and most definitely no knowledge of any assets associated with him. This was brought to our attention, upon nothing other than showing a little respect and expressing our sorrow.
I cannot emphasise it enough, both my sister and I, had no support let alone financial support from our father in our lifetimes, so this situation is so hard on us. We even mutually agreed to simply forget the whole situation and just live our lives the only way we know how..
But, why should we? Without any animosity, I'll-feeling or hurt towards our father, whatever he left, too right we take it, even more so due to the resulting behaviour of his sister.
To bring you up to date, we have instructed our own solicitor, based in Greece to avoid any further complications, whom has basically made no progress in what's now, 3 months. Admittedly, not the lack of trying, but more hitting stumbling blocks.
So, this is where anyone who has taken the time to read this comes in, literally ANY advice and comments will be truly appreciated beyond words. Honestly, life is not easy, that applies to each and every one of us, so all I actually wish for is peace and happiness as opposed to being held to some kind of ransom for my father's death, a man whom I will never get the opportunity to confess "Do you know what Dad, I actually needed you in my life!!" That's hard.. And will never ever accept someone making that harder.

Ochiai: This might be a weird question to ask but since you have put so much passion and effort into creating this game, when it comes to management, how do you think about the sales aspect here (read: translate it into profits and sales)? In terms of timing and your target audience and so on. YoshiP: So when it comes to product, when I first submit my proposal, it's a given that I would attached together with the budget documentation, like this will be the platform where the game will be released, development wise it'll take a grand total of this amount, when the game will be released, the cost for marketing and PR will take this much, and the projected profit will be around this much...these will of course be included into the documentation...but I can tell you that I wouldn't want to look at the first week sales for FFXVI (laughs).
Ochiai: (laughs) But still, I take that the board of directors came together and approved the budget you're issuing during the meeting I assume
YoshiP: Yes that was indeed the case, but when it comes to FF, there are places where you can't turn back once you get into it. but I'm being quite drastic here, and precisely because I'm a creator here, I have to be particular about the business aspect, and if I'm just creating this game out of self-satisfaction, it will definitely not connect to the next. So even though if I get told that it was a fun game, but if this doesn't translate to sales then we won't be able to create the next game. So our policy at Creative Business Unit 3 here is that at the very least, create a game where you yourself think it's interesting, and make the game earn in black numbers (※A Japanese word meaning "profit", loss of profit is "red numbers"), even if it's just a little. By doing so, we will still get money and we'll be able to work on the games we like or things that we think are interesting so I think this time.......well......well if I think this wouldn't work out, I'd actually go destroy those projects myself, like, "I'm sorry this is impossible" and then work on other projects to supplement it, and yeah I would tell them to cancel this project. I mean, I've already done this numerous times throughout my career but still, yeah since I can't turn back this time when it comes to creating this game and I told them that we'll try to sell it all out so allow me to put this amount of budget I need for this game. The answer I got from them was "Yeah, do your best"...so...yeah. But then I've been generating profits from FFXIV anyway, and manage to contribute a lot to the company and it was thanks to the Warriors of Light that made it happen, so it was hard for the company to say "no" to what I've proposed I assume (laughs).
Ochiai: Since I do not have any experience in game sales here, but you previously mentioned about if you went with the selling out pattern, then you can somewhat see the implementation on certain level, and sometimes there are cases where this isn't what's the approach taken when it comes to sales pattern so my question is how, or at which timing would you be able to grasp on how the sales of the game will end up when it comes to today's context? YoshiP: By the way, the system of lump-sum payment is applicable only in Japan※¹ but when it comes to overseas, basically if you can just "break in" if you want to. This can be weird, but they basically just go "just purchase a shelf". What this means is that, let's take a street-level store for example: when release date approaches there will be other games released along with your game, yes? You can brush all of them aside and say you want to place one huge portion of the segment to sell, say, FF16, then you can ask them how much do you need to pay them to do so, and they'll do so. They would also tell you that you can ship them as many copies as you want to and they'll return the extra copies that they couldn't sell. Therefore to see how sales would fare will be starting from...the amount of pre-orders...but when it comes to pre-orders, anyone can pre-order whenever they want to these days and not many would do so....so sales wise we'll look at the first week, to see how many have purchased the game digitally as well as from wholesale dealers, so the sell out starts there, and the rest will be predictions: How much the game has reached to the hands of gamers, so predictions will be made. So we'll use those detailed data in advance and create a simulation. The reason is because we'll have proof at hand on how much the copies have reached the players. For example, for FFVII Remake, we calculate based on what we can see how many user base do we have and calculate from there, so judging from the content we have this time, we can estimate that there are certain generation base that hasn't played a single Final Fantasy game purchased this game but since we are making it a full real time action, we can calculate once on how much it has dropped in percentage for certain player base who would prefer turn based Final Fantasy games and create a simulation based on that, but ultimately the results cannot be certain until we open the lid (read: release the game) so it can be hard to tell.

Ochiai: Like for example when it comes to movies, as movies run a duration of usually 2 hours when it comes to content, so in a way we can easily see how it performs, but when it comes to games, it takes time to complete them from start to finish so it's tougher to grasp how the behavior would change. So this is my personal thoughts on the matter but how do you approach the post-release sales period like there's a change in certain behavior, and what kind of marketing strategy would you take after the game is released? YoshiP: When it comes to sales extension, well, this can slightly different from country to country, but when it comes to Japan, I can bring up one good example which is Slam Dunk (which is recently aired in theaters).
For the generations who are fans of the show, they would be extremely interested about it, but there was a commotion when it comes to the promotion prior to its release and this caused everyone to have doubts. But once the fans watched the movie, they'd go "You better watch this movie!", or they'd go recommend those who haven't watch the movie but expressed interest in it and nothing beats that kind of attraction when it comes to what PR can do even today. Though as for me, I'd go back to my roots, and convey properly on how the game has been made and released properly, and if people find the game interesting, streaming from all around the world who will be streaming this game will convey their comments and the louder those voices are, then it might encourage others who hasn't buy the game yet to give it a try, purchase a PS5 along. Another thing I've realized that younger generations don't tend to be particular about the release date, and tend to based their purchase on what's popular within their community circles, and what everyone is playing. In fact this is what happened when it comes to Apex, Fortnite, and this is definitely what the flow goes for today, so what I did is to make estimations on budget, laying out the plan saying "FFXVI is coming out", and making simple approach to try getting the staff members in the shop to convince gamers to buy FFXVI along when they purchase a PS5. So this time, I've laid out a plan on sales that would last about 18 months. Even when looking at the ownership ratio for PS5, there's no mistake that there will a drop in absolute ratio rather than looking at the games that are released for both PS4 and PS5.
Ochiai: Yeah, that's right.
YoshiP: I mean, yeah, it would be idiotic for anyone to not make these calculations beforehand, which is why it's important to consider the sales in a long term and extend them for as long as it can be, and then from the sales that have accumulates in these long months, we can see up to which extend people have played the game, and since we can see data in the achievements people obtain in game, we can tell how much people are stuck at certain aspects, and so on. From there we may make adjustments so that it'll be easier for people to obtain them, and we wouldn't need it to be an online game to do so. Therefore, I'm not looking at the short term sales at all.

Back in December 2023, our local company "No One Studios" started a small-scale project in order to try and make, and release a game that would be fully-featured (or at least be as close to fully-featured as we could get) on steam. We decided on doing so so that we could assess for ourselves how difficult the process of game-making would be. With a budget of BND 1,000.00 pcm, and an internal time-limit of 3 months - we (a small team of 5 locals, including myself) set off to make this untitled pilot game.

Five months and BND 5,000.00 later (shhhh.. we're not perfect -_-' XD), I'm pleased to announce that our pilot game "Dongeng Bayang Kulit" is now officially available on Steam (for Windows PCs)!

We promised never to keep secrets from one another, a promise I broke every day since we started dating.
It wasn't malice, no, it was for my own protection, because I had been hurt before, being open and honest, sharing openly and freely. Left with nothing, as I learned they only cared for what I could give, rather than what I had.
Tristan was open and honest with me, and I was for the most part. I spoke of how I had been used and betrayed in the past, how I had grown bitter and resentful as a result.
How it had taken me time to heal and rebuild.
Tristan hated being kept in the dark about something. Asking him if you could ask him a question was just as likely to get a sharp reprimand as insulting his divine cooking, and people hiding things out of a sense of mercy only served to further incense him.
I cooked eggs, bacon, and had put a fruit muffin in the toaster oven for long enough to toast, as he preferred. I had sworn to myself that if my secret was such I would be rejected, that I would at least leave having given him one last good memory.
"Wow, breakfast in bed?" He asked.
"I wanted your morning to be as pleasant as possible." I replied, placing the tray in front of him. He eagerly dug in.
He liked his eggs pre-mixed so that the whites and the yolks were even, the bacon to be crispy, not chewy, and of course, I had his favorite tea ready for drinking, steeped and cooled down to his preference.
I watched him eat with love and trepidation, so when he had eaten enough to not be ravenous, I spoke.
"Was it to your liking?"
"Yeah. Thank you, Erin. it means a lot to me."
It was now or never, else I'd never work up the resolve.
"There is something I wish to share with you." I said. "Rather, a confession."
He looked at me. He knew I knew he hated waiting to explain something, so he knew it was something serious.
"What's wrong?" He asked.
"When we started dating, we both swore to keep no secrets between us. I have broken that promise since day one, I have kept one fact about myself hidden, because I was afraid."
"Just tell me." He said.
"It would be better if I showed you." I spoke as I extended my hand over toward him. He took it, and I pulled him onto my back, and carried him through the house to the yard, past our property line, and onto mine.
"Wait, you're taking me to that old bunker, the one nobody can get inside?" He gasped. "Wait, did you find a way in!?"
"You are perceptive. I do know how to enter."
We approached the bunker, I took out a well-worn key and unlocked it.
"Wait, you had the key this whole time. That's the big secret?"
"It is one facet of the truth." I said. "I own this bunker."
I led him inside, the interior was still clean, organized. I took a short cut, and we stepped into a large room, with a giant pile of glittering metal coins and personal valuables.
I let go of his hand, walked over to the pile, and assumed my true form.
"My real name is Verengar, I am a Dragon."
I settled onto my hoard, and beckoned for him to approach. He stared at me with wide, disbelieving eyes as he stepped forward.
"You're a Dragon." He said.
"From another world, no less." I replied. "I came to this world to avoid being killed by greedy Humans." I lowered my head, which was as large as he was tall, I fixed him with a single eye. "I chose now to break my silence."
"Why?" He asked.
I dipped my foreleg into my treasure, and pulled out a plain gold ring. "Tristan Cubbins, will you prove my trust in you is correct by becoming my husband?" I asked.
"Of course." He said. "I was waiting for you to say it, but... I never expected this."
I took Human form again and placed the ring upon his finger. "Then by Draconic tradition, we are wed. I will ensure we have a Human wedding soon. for now, my love, my shining treasure, I wish to spend as much time with you as I can."
He smiled, and I kissed him.

It was a process and a half, living with a Human.
Perfectly reasonable instincts and urges are considered possessive and rude to them, and accommodating them simply because you wish to have companionship can be a struggle.
Especially once you tell them what you are.
Tristan had accepted my marriage proposal, and by Dragon Law that made him my husband, and a part of my hoard. This meant that I did know where he was at all times, mostly because of the ring I had given him, I could only get a vague sense as to his location or state of being without it.
I explained this was because I was actively holding back on outright claiming him, I wanted to gauge his reaction, get a sense for if he was okay with it. He was understandably perturbed by the notion, and I reminded him, if he wanted privacy, he was more than welcome to take the ring off.
We were married, the ring is largely only a symbol.
I let him choose the wedding band he wanted me to wear from the myriad I had collected over the centuries, he chose much the same as I had for him, a plain band, nothing ostentatious.
I explained that, the reason we never had many financial issues was that the 'commissions' I earned were actually me just selling small bits of my hoard, something I stressed was a sign of great love among my kind, and that I would continue to do so, to ensure our comfort.
As he acclimated, I opened myself up to him more, showing him magic, forming a pact with him so he could use it as well, being open and transparent about the gulf in our ages, and how we could prevent this from being a mere blip in the eye as far as I was concerned.
There is no proper translation for it, the closest I'd come across being from a game my husband and I enjoyed. The concept was easy to tell in that regard, and while he was a little squeamish at the idea, he eventually told me he was willing to take that next step.
I still remember the look in his eyes as I pricked my finger and filled the goblet with but a single drop, the way his hands shook as he held my bubbling lifeblood in his hands, the expression of disgust as he choked it down, and the way he writhed as Dragonfire filled his body.
I laid at his side, easing the pain with my magic, soothing him as I spoke of how proud I was of him for making this step, that the path of a Dragon was difficult, that it would likely take him thousands of years to reach the same magnificence as me.
As he now had the heart of a Dragon beating in his chest, mighty and powerful, I made a bond with him, one that he could refuse for now, or accept. It was a taste of what could be, him knowing me, where I was, how I was, as much as I would him. It is a deep and powerful connection, one not to be taken lightly.
It filled me with joy to have him accept.
Every year, I gave him the choice to proceed with his slow and gradual transformation, and each year, he drank, more of his body changing, something that he could hide just as easily as I could hide myself.
I awoke, thirty-five years into our marriage, reflecting that so little time had passed, yet so many memories filled my mind. My husband sleeping beside me, unhidden, the patches of scales, the small horns, the slightly sharper teeth that peeked out of his open and snoring mouth.
I gently kissed him, waking him up, and he looked at me with love and said, "Good morning, my treasure."

"To where it would be best suited." I replied. "It's only fair that we utterly destroy them in the only means that matters. Keeping the money would just make us as bad as them."
He laughed, he was still getting used to the way our kind thought. We hoarded gold for its beauty, and because it helped dissipate our body heat. They hoarded wealth out of a false sense of superiority.
Nonetheless, that was a plan that would come into its own when one of us had the time. Surely, ridding the world of billionaires would make the Humans more amenable to our existence.

Hey all,
I'm a machinist trying my hand at jewelry design. Here's some examples of things I've been working on. I work with a lot of medical grade titanium, and I've been turning some designs on a CNC lathe with some spare bits of material. So far it's simple earrings and pendants, but I'm working on incredibly fine finishing methods that I think will make my designs look nice. I've invested a fair bit of time, money, and effort into developing an electropolishing and anodization setup so that I can get a very nice end result on my pieces.
Looking around here, I see a lot of people with handmade jewelry or unique cast pieces that are finished with hand tools. I'm wondering about the value of something a bit more automated. Essentially, a part of me wonders if there might be something some might perceive as "cheap" about things that come out of a machine. I'm not mass producing thousands of pieces in a day or anything, but while it takes me a few hours to design something I like, it's only a couple more to program, cut, and finish several pieces. For example, it took me 2 hours to program and cut a batch of 7 pairs of one of my earring designs today. It'll be a couple more between polishing and anodizing before they're ready to gift or sell. Something in the back of my mind worries about what I have to imagine is a much lower time investment compared to a lot of jewelry makers.
I think there's something to be said about the unique and precise shapes that I can get out of my lathe. It's a different feel from cast jewelry, I think. There's still that voice in the back of my head wondering if they'll sell well because they're not as unique as many jewelry makers, especially between pieces. Something about the low time investment makes me worry that they'll be seen as cheap. Are there any opinions on this?

Ever since I (M21) moved to morning shifts at my retail job to get more hours, I’ve been working with a ex-boxer verbally abusive manager who has been making my life feel like hell.
Every single time I work with him it’s always something, no matter how small or insignificant. One time a customer forgot their groceries after I literally put it in front of them before I started checking out the next customer in line, and I was told it was my fault. I got yelled at for wearing white shoes (once) and I wasn’t even clocked in or in my uniform. It was a whole five minutes before my shift and my work shoes were in my bag. I wasn’t even allowed WATER while I was working even though it was concealed and nothing was going on. I’m not going to sacrifice my health just for some stupid rule. These are just a few instances of many I have had to deal with at this horrendous tone deaf job.
I already work paycheck to paycheck, and they cut my hours way back in 2021 of February when I got sick with COVID once, and I feel like I haven’t financially recovered since because I’ve had to dig so much money out of my savings to get by.
They still refuse to give me more hours because I get sick more often now because I can’t eat as much to keep myself healthy. I am not even at a healthy weight to donate blood or plasma for extra cash, and even if I could it would not be sustainable for even a short time.
Last morning I had to tell my job I couldn’t work this one day because I needed to meet with my doctor, and I got verbally abused over the phone. Shouted verbatim, “Every time you do this, you are screwing us” and not even letting me a chance to speak he says “Whatever I’m just going to take you off the schedule” threatening my fucking income when it’s already so low and they know I barely make enough to eat. I try my best to come into work whenever I am physically able, and I work hard whenever I’m there. I literally constantly cover for other people including at different store departments, but now I just realize they’re taking advantage of me.
I already have another job as a manager in training at GameStop with a staff that actually respects and sees my value as a worker and person, with a promotion (that has a living wage) lined up once I get out of training and my friend who is the assistant manager over there leaves so I can fill his position. I have been feeling a lot better at this job, but currently my hours are not a lot and inconsistent for now due to schedules being wonky right now.
With this extra job I have, I’ve been just thinking fuck it and tell the other job I quit without sending in a two weeks. I of course plan to have another job lined up before I do this, but for the sake of my sanity and my integrity and pride as a human being, I really want to stick it to my old employers for just putting me through so much stress I didn’t need to.
I worked there for three years since I was in high school living on my own wage, so I think it’s about time. I’m just not sure if it would be a good idea or not to just skip the two weeks. I just want to pull the bandaid off.
Tl;dr
I want to quit my retail job of three years without a 2-week notice after I get another job lined up because of the verbal abuse and mental drain my manager causes on me every day that I work there, but I’m not sure if it’s a smart decision as I’m worried about the consequences and if it will affect future opportunities. (IA btw)

So I've been working in a translational medicine lab since spring semester. It was slow in the Spring, but I figured it would pick up in the summer. So far, all I've done is run extremely long PCR and gel experiments. Every day, I spend about 40 minutes doing the same thing as the day before. That's it. I spend the next 5 hours sitting there doing absolutely nothing waiting for the instrumentation to finish running. I've expressed my concerns to the people that are training me, asking for more to do, and I feel like I'm wasting my time. They assure me that it will get better eventually, and that they can't really give me more stuff because I'm not trained yet.
I personally feel very frustrated. I understand that there's not much for me to do, but I just do the same basic things over and over, and don't understand how it will get better. I'm personally a little slower when it comes to doing research, as it often requires several repetitions before I can do it seamlessly myself. The people that are training me have clinic obligations as well and are so busy I don't really get the oversight and training I feel I need.
I could be overreacting--I've only been working for about a week this summer, but I've felt this way since January and just assumed it would get better. It hasn't. It's really frustrating. Spending the summer away from friends and family, waking up early every day, all just to have a really negative experience thus far that doesn't feel like it will improve all too much.
I was thinking about going to school for an MD or PhD after I graduate, but this experience really makes me hate that idea. Biology and chemistry have always been my thing, but now I am unsure if I should even continue on this path. I am really confused as to what I should do. Should I try to stick it out and just hope it works for me? Should I seek a new lab even though it's the summer? I would probably try to avoid translation medical research after this experience. Based off of previous research projects I've worked on in high school, I've found that I enjoy working on hands on projects that keep me busy all day, providing consistent work from 9-5 or 6. While these projects are often more tiring, I've found that they are more fulfilling and I enjoy the fast paced learning and the day to day lifestyle much more. Should I change labs? If so, what subject might be interesting and keep me busy? For reference, I have fairly solid chemistry, physics, and math backgrounds as well.

Wife Tayala and the Inquisitor that killed her. A lot of the inspiration for this came from the thread started by u/Global_Help_1225 , so credit to them for a big part of this. Warning that this theory does contain spoilers for both Jedi games, Rebels, the Ahsoka novel, the Vader comics, and Obi-Wan Kenobi.
So we know that one of Bode's main motivations for joining the ISB was to learn the identity of the Inquisitor that killed his wife. There are multiple candidates that could have been responsible, and we're going to run through them all to get the best feel for which Inquisitor it could have been, starting with the least likely to most likely.
-Tenth Brother
He died within a year of the Clone Wars ending, and is quite unlikely since the Inquisitorious was barely organized.
-Sixth Brother and Unidentified Inqusitor from Tales of the Jedi
Judging from the Akuna family portrait, Tayala was likely killed only in recent years since Kata doesn't look much younger than her in-game model. Kata is likely between 8-10, and looks about 5-7 in the portrait. The Sixth Brother died in 18 BBY to Ahsoka, literally only a year after the Clone Wars ended. Kata would have been far too young for this portrait to have been taken while he was still alive. As for the Unidentified Inquisitor in Tales of the Jedi, he's basically meant to be the same as the Sixth Brother despite not being confirmed to be the same character and he is quite unlikely due to this.
-Iskat Akaris and Tualon
I put both of these candidates at the same level due to how connected they are. Iskat is clearly shown a merciful streak as she was willing to spare Eeth Koth's wife from death. I imagine she would take a similar position with Tayala considering the nature of her relation to Bode. Tualon would likely be there with Iskat considering their missions together and affections for each other, and would just accept what Iskat wants to do. Thus they are both very unlikely.
-The Grand Inquisitor
The head of the Inquisitorius seems highly unlikely. From what we know about the circumstances surrounding the death of Tayala, she was killed due to Bode not being home at the time. Logically speaking, this is a reckless move. A better strategy would have been for them to lure Bode out by taking Tayala hostage and forcing him to choose between letting her die or giving himself up. Slaughtering Bode's wife out of malice doesn't seem like the Grand Inquisitor's m.o., considering his tactical nature. He similarly prevented Reva from executing a Jedi instantly because he wanted to learn the location of other surviving Jedi. Killing Tayala accomplishes nothing useful besides making Bode possibly angry enough to come out of hiding for revenge. However, this method is far less reliable than keeping her alive as a hostage, which is typically the Grand Inquisitor's favored strategy. Even if he did kill Tayala, he likely wouldn't have left a body and would have tried to convince Bode that she was alive in prison, similar to what he did with Luminara and her corpse. In the end, the GI makes little sense to be the killer.
-Second Sister
For similar reasons to the Grand Inquisitor, Trillia doesn't make sense either. She had a similar calculating demeanor to the GI, and would likely want to capture Tayala instead of killing her. The only instance Trilla has of killing an innocent is Prauf from the first game. She mainly did this to draw Cal out as she knew that the Jedi was among the crowd and would not tolerate the death of innocents. Killing Tayala out of view from Bode would not have the same effect, and would likely be detrimental to her hunt. This leads me to think she can be eliminated from the likely candidates as well.
-Seventh Sister
This is another character that I think has enough tactical sense to keep Tayala alive. She does the exact same tactic with Ezra and Sabine in Rebels, knowing that they're more useful as bait to bring out the big fish. Thus, not the inquisitor that we're looking for.
-Fifth Brother
While he certainly has a brutish and reckless streak, I doubt he was the person responsible for Tayala's death. In Obi-Wan Kenobi, he's shown to have much more restraint than Reva when it comes to dealing with questioning civilians. While he's not above maiming his targets, he does typically have the sense to keep them alive and useful, if barely. While he could be a good candidate, he doesn't seem likely due to the reasons above.
-Eighth Brother
While not a lot is known about this inquisitor, I doubt he was the killer either. Considering he seemed to be chasing Maul for a long time, I think this was his primary assignment and he had little time for anything else. Maul is quite dangerous and likely far too important to devote time to hunting anyone else, especially the equally elusive Bode. Granted this argument is weaker, but I think there's some merit to it.
-Ninth Sister
This is both a likely and unlikely candidate. Her reckless and cruel personality is certainly the type to kill Tayala simply out of spite due to not finding Bode. She clearly has little regard for tactics, considering how she doubted the Grand Inquisitor's intuition about Cal returning to Kashyyyk. So this leaves her as a likely candidate...EXCEPT for the fact that she sees Bode during the opening of Survivor and doesn't appear to recognize him. Of course, this could be due to her focus on Cal since he cost her a hand in Fallen Order, but I imagine she would have taunted Cal about doing her job for her (by bringing Bode to her). Either way, something tells me she isn't our culprit due to a major factor.
What's important about all of these Inquisitors is that we know when and how they die. For narrative purposes, I don't think that the writers for Survivor would want to use an Inquisitor that is confirmed dead in a different Star Wars media. It likely would have no narrative punch if an Inquisitor known to die would appear in a sequel or spinoff game. There would be very little tension and would ultimately prove disappointing in the story. If we factor in the narrative purposes of having an Inquisitor who's fate isn't known, then this does help to substantially reduce our list of suspects.
-Third Brother
Yes, you read that right, in addition to Reva's title of Third Sister, there is a character known as the Third Brother. He was introduced in a source book a while back known as Darth Maul and other Dark Side Followers, from the Star Wars Encyclopedia. All that is known of him is that he carried out terrible things in the Empire's name, and that his eventual fate remained secret. It's rather odd for a source book to include this information without any pay-off, and I think this was put into the book for some future potential in case an inquisitor is ever needed in a story. However, this also works against his likelihood as he could just be a random mention in a book that will never be heard from again. Endless possibilities, but too little is known about him.
-Fourth Sister
This is another Inquisitor we know practically nothing about including her fate. Her concept was first introduced in a Halloween type comic from a few years back, but it was shown that this was just a rebel impersonating an inquisitor later in the story. Fourth Sister properly first appeared in Obi-Wan Kenobi. She doesn't do much throughout it and generally doesn't have much of a presence, but she has a decent alien design and we don't see her die. Unfortunately there's not enough known about her personality to see if she would be the type to kill Tayala out of malice, but she did seem more restrained than both Fifth Brother and Reva. If they want to do something important with her, this could easily be it.
So this brings us to our final suspect, someone we know is alive far into the Imperial Era, has a reckless habit, and someone who's fate is unknown...
-Third Sister a.k.a. Reva Sevander
Reva is the most likely suspect responsible for Tayala's murder, from both a logical and narrative perspective. Let's start with her personality. Reva is extremely reckless, and can often be quite cruel. She maimed an innocent bystander on Tatooine by cutting off her hand, with very little provocation. Barely ten minutes later, she was attempting to decapitate a surviving Jedi, Nari, before being stopped by the Grand Inquisitor. Despite Nari being more useful alive for interrogation, she attempted to kill him instantly. Her reckless nature was also demonstrated by her attempted assassination of Darth Vader. Rather than attempting to strike from a distance, she engaged Vader in a direct duel and suffered the consequences for it. Attesting to her cruel tendencies, she attempted to murder the innocent Luke Skywalker as retribution for what Vader did to her fellow padawans. These traits combined easily demonstrate how she could be the one to kill Tayala, as it was done out of pure malice and had little tactical advantage.
Additionally, her being the killer can make great sense from a narrative perspective. A massive setup in Jedi Survivor is the revelation that Cere was helping an organization known as the Hidden Path, a refugee system for survivors of the Jedi Purge. At the end of the game, it's revealed that Tanalorr will be used as the Path's future base of operations. Now what Jedi has connections to the path besides Cere and Cal?
Obi-Wan Kenobi. At the end of his series he is seen comforting Reva and assuring her that she can build her own future from this point. However, this would be quite difficult with the Empire around. While they might think she's dead at the moment, this likely would not last. Reva is likely branded a fugitive by the Empire, and will be ruthlessly hunted. So what better way to keep her safe than by sending her to the Hidden Path?
It makes the most sense for her to join the Path now that she is on the path of redemption and needs refuge from the Empire's wrath, and she's in the perfect position to do it through Obi-Wan. This also helps the narrative as it would directly put her into contact with Cal and Kata in the future. A big part of the next installment is likely going to deal with Cal fighting his own darkness, and Kata will likely have a similar battle with her own demons. The next game will likely have another timeskip, ideally five years into the future to coincide with Rebels and Andor, as 5 BBY is when those shows start. Kata will be well into her teens by then, and possibly be training as a Jedi if she inherits her father's force sensitivity. It also makes sense that Reva would only show up around this point, as it will likely take a few years to connect the Hidden Path with Tanalorr. She could serve a great role in the story for both Cal and Kata. Obviously Kata will want to confront her over the death of her mother, and Cal could possibly see shades of Trilla in Reva, which might help to make him want to protect her, as he will be reminded of how he and Cere tried to redeem Trilla. He'll see Reva as a chance to fix his failures, by finally redeeming a fallen Jedi. He could never do it with Malicos, Trilla, Dagan, or Bode, and would likely want to do it now more than ever. This could serve as great story conflict between him and Kata. There's so much potential by including Reva in the story, both for her character and the development of our main protagonists. I'd also really like if she got redeemed and purified her crystals to be white, since Survivor also showed bleeding crystals to make them red. It would add to the lore and work on many thematic levels.
So out of all our known possible suspects, I think Reva makes the most sense and would have the most impact in the story, especially since her fate is unknown. If you read all the way through, I hope you enjoyed it.

Everyone who worked with me knew I’d been a fan of SNL since I came out of the womb, so when I picked up the phone to make the reservation and spoke with his assistant, I told them I was Lorne's biggest fan. When he arrived with his wife and son (who went to a local boarding school), they were so kind, and he said, 'Oh, I heard you’re my biggest fan, and that’s amazing because I don’t have fans — the cast always has fans!' I almost died. I gave them my favorite table, which they were thrilled with, and when he got up to leave, he left me an envelope with a pretty sweet bonus tip inside. I wasn’t usually tipped doing my work, so it wasn’t necessary, but it was so thoughtful and appreciated. All three were true gems. You’d never know he was famous or rich at all."
4. TOTAL NIGHTMARE: "I met Roseanne Barr for work once. I went to shake her hand, and she looked me up and down and said, 'I don't shake hands,' then walked away."
5. ABSOLUTE DREAM: "I met Matthew Gray Gubler after he did a talk years ago at my college! Only the first 100 people who got tickets were supposed to be able to do a meet and greet. He said 'rules were made to be broken' and that he would stay and meet with everyone until they kicked him out. Not only was he incredibly sweet to me (literally introduced himself...so humble and posed for a goofy pic), but he seemed so genuinely kind to everyone there. Just amazing energy all around."
6. ABSOLUTE DREAM: "A friend and I visited my boyfriend while he was doing security at a jazz festival in Malibu. He told us Adam Sandler and his family had been there all day and tons of people took pictures with him. We ran back to the car to grab the digital camera, looked up, and saw Adam, his pregnant wife Jackie, and their toddler leaving. We went up to them. Adam was clearly done for the day, but his wife said, 'Honey, let me hold [toddler's name] and you can take a picture.' We handed him the camera and he took a selfie with us. Still have that picture on my fridge. Love the Sandman!"
7. TOTAL NIGHTMARE: "My little cousin played one of Rob Schneider's kids in 50 First Dates. Rob was stuck-up, never got to know the children or their parents, and always went straight to his dressing room. I'm an introvert, so I like my alone time to recharge, but apparently the vibes he was giving off were that he couldn't be bothered to care about anyone else there. Also, the little girl in the movie was apparently a spoiled brat who threw tantrums and made them have to redo so many takes. I can see why Rob maybe didn't want to play with her, but the other kids were great!"
8. ABSOLUTE DREAM: "My husband met Rihanna years ago and said she was super nice. He was working as a ground handler at an airport and was setting up something on the ramp for her private plane. She came out, approached him, asked him about his job, and they chatted for a few minutes. Not sure if she was killing time until the gate opened, or if she went out of her way to talk to him for the heck of it, but he had nothing but nice things to say about her."
9. ABSOLUTE DREAM: "I met Jerry Springer while bartending almost 20 years ago. He was thinking of getting back into politics and had a meeting in our private dining room on the second floor. It was happy hour and the bar was packed. Someone spotted him and started chanting, 'JERRY, JERRY,' while he was about to walk up the stairs. He then came to the bar, ordered a $2 beer, walked through the entire bar, shook hands, and took pictures. When he finished the loop, he set the full beer on the bar and handed me $40. Regardless of his show, I will always think of him as a class act."
10. ABSOLUTE DREAM: "My story is that I was actually horrible to a celebrity. In the '70s, I was obsessed with Donny and Marie. They were playing at our state fair that year. My dad tried to get tickets, but it was sold out. He took us to the fair anyway. A few times we could hear the music, which infuriated me at 7 years old. When we were leaving, my dad had to stop the car because there was a big crowd of people. As they cleared to let us through, two people popped their heads in the car window to apologize. It was Donny and Marie. I refused to believe it was really them, and I told Marie, 'You're not Marie. She's a lot prettier than you.' My family was horrified."
11. ABSOLUTE DREAM: "Hands down nicest celebrity I've ever met was Taylor Swift. I met her at a concert as part of her security at the Houston shows. She was polite and introduced herself to everyone. She was obviously very busy, but she seemed interested in what I had to say and signed an album cover for my son."

I went inside and placed my order, and a guy in a white jumpsuit with a white bandana tied around his head came in. There weren't that many people in the restaurant, but he stopped and signed autographs and was chatting everyone up when I left. It wasn't until a few years later that I realized that person was Steven Tyler. This was in the late '80s before Aerosmith had that string of hits."
18. ABSOLUTE DREAM: "The most genuine interaction I've ever had with a celeb was with Bert Kreischer. I saw a show (during which he mentioned his grandma was in the hospital). Then, he told the audience he would be going to the bar next door after the show if anyone wanted a picture. When he arrived at the bar, he waded through CROWDS of people and made sure everyone who wanted to was able to get a pic or a moment with him. I stayed at the bar for a drink until he was on his way out (by this time the crowd had dispersed). I called out as he passed, 'Hey, I didn't get a chance to say it before, but I hope your grandma does well.' He stopped, turned around, and had a very genuine conversation with me."
19. ABSOLUTE DREAM: "Jason Momoa was really fun to meet in person when I saw him at a Nine Inch Nails show. Really fun guy!"
20. ABSOLUTE DREAM: "Jennifer Lopez. I went to where they were filming Air last year (I live in LA) because I wanted to meet Ben Affleck. I met Matt Damon as he wrapped before he left. He was a SUPER nice guy. I waited for Ben as his Escalade pulled up, but I DID NOT expect JLO to get out. She got out right next to me. She was only with her driver and he didn’t tell me to move or anything, so when she got out, I was like ‘Jen! Can I get a picture?' and she said sure. We talked about Selena because I’m Latina and she’s super important to me, and the movie means so much to me. She was SOO nice and sweet. She didn’t give any vibes that I was annoying her or that she had to Go. We also spoke in Spanish. We took our picture and then she went inside to get Ben. When they got out, Ben was NOT HAPPY (I don’t blame him. He was acting and directing), so I just stepped aside."
21. ABSOLUTE DREAM: "In 2004, I met Tony Curtis. He exuded 'old Hollywood.' He made his way around the room, speaking to each person, and when he approached me, he extended his hand and held my hand through the entire conversation. He focused on our conversation as if there was no one else in the room. As we said goodbye (he was still holding my hand), he raised my hand to his lips and kissed it. He was dressed impeccably and was in fine form. I have had many celebrity encounters, but nothing rises to the level of Tony Curtis. Absolutely the best celebrity encounter I've ever had."
22. ABSOLUTE DREAM: "I met Sir Patrick Stewart at the Peabody Hotel in Orlando. We were both hanging out with friends in the lobby. He told stories, made lots of jokes with his friends, and included us in the conversation."
23. ABSOLUTE DREAM: "I went to college with Muhammad Ali's twin daughters. He came with them for move-in day, and they arrived in a chauffeured Rolls Royce. He was gracious and took as many pictures and signed as many autographs as people wanted. I even have a picture where he is pretending to punch me. I told him that I grew up down the street from the house he had in Chicago before he donated it to the Nation of Islam. He asked me if they were good neighbors and laughed when I told him not really."
24. TOTAL NIGHTMARE: "My sister met Katy Perry at a restaurant, but she was being rude to the bartender and all the employees who came over to help, so now my niece and nephew aren't allowed to listen to her music."

At the concert, me and another young girl were invited on stage to give her flowers and introduce ourselves. On stage, l asked to get her autograph and she told me she would after the show. Post-concert, I waited with my family to get an autograph and she invited me and my dad into her fitting room and no one else. Once back there, I was so starstruck and amazed that she remembered my name! She was so kind and took pictures with me and my dad, signed a photo, gave me the set list, and wrapped it up by giving me a hug and kiss on the cheek. She spent probably an hour with us just hanging out in her room and chatting. To this day, it's one of my most cherished memories."

Crutic felt the realspace reasserted itself with a faint lurch and a rattle of the spaceframe, the darkness behind his eyelids peeled away just in time to witness the streaks of light coalescing into a field of stars. And after that...nothing. Outside of the angry red glow of the indicator lightings around him and the graphics of the instrument cluster before him, he might as well be witnessing a portal into an infinite abyss so dark that his eyes may as well have remained shut. It wasn’t unexpected, though: the brief mission overview had made it abundantly clear that where his flight element was needed was among the interstellar void. The nearest star was nearly three parsecs away and was only called a star as a tribute to its fiery past - its photosphere likely offered its last gimmer millions of years ago. But it never mattered on how much prep was given, it was never a comfortable feeling to know that something is out there in the consuming absence. It was a small solace then, when his sensors chirped to indicate that it had achieved what the Human eye could not and found something out there within seconds. Before the modulated tone of his flight lead even made it through the constant hissing of the life support airflow, Crutic had his hands around the control yoke to disengage his TIE from the Gozanti’s docking tube.
“Target identified as a Ghtroc 720, range three-seventy kicks, armed. Form up to intercept and dissuade.”
The brisk affirmation from himself and Mynock Two and Four was almost drowned out by the whine from the engine as the four Imperial fighters screamed away from their transport and aligned themselves in a rough quadrilateral formation towards the sensor blip. It was drifting, sublights inactive and transponder silent, all in a valiant effort to blend into the interstellar background. But without jammers to further obscure their presence or a cloak to hide it completely, they were simply a something in a sea of nothing. And the moment the occupants realized this and that the Empire was there to do something about it, the engine arrays that flanked either side of the light freighter flared to life.
”Unidentified Ghtroc 720, you are in a restricted sector, return to designated Region 12 volume or face the consequence.”
Despite his attempt at civility, Mynock One and everyone present knew that this wasn’t an accidental drift into the gap between Region 12 and the edge of the greater galaxy; it was merely the latest instance of another group of beings from within that thought that they had the stealth necessary to break the region-wide lockdown. And with no change to their vector, it appeared that this particular group has the will to do a little more resisting. Crutic can’t help but consider a brief flicker of irony in that the energy spent into presently futile evasive flying would be better applied to their hyperdrive to make it to their next jump. As it is, either option would result in the TIEs landing shots on them, but at least the latter would be more…inconvenient for him and his immediate comrades in the long term.
The last warning was issued as the four fighters closed the last hundred kicks and this time a response came through in the form of a pair of crimson bolts fizzling through the formation. And at the same instant, Crutic Jo’ran retreated into the crevasse in the back of his mind and RG-273-76 took his place.
Safeties off. Targeting computer rendered an approximation of the freighter’s saucer shape upon the display. Align it with the crosshair. Target lock shrilled. Squeeze the trigger. Shields rippled violently as green energies hammered home.
Not good enough.
Check surrounding for teammates within immediate maneuvering vectors. Opening between Mynock One and Four. They peeled off after they had done their own run. Good. Pour in speed to gain distance.
Sounds of laser cannons from behind. Dodge. Stabilize as the rain of bolts trailed behind his flight path, too slow. Perform a sharp banking turn to bring the freighter back in front. Check for alignment to target. Sensor flagged a new relevant information: steep power draw on the hyperdrive module.
“Target almost ready to jump,” he notified into the comms, a practiced motion with a hand to divert power from the engines to the laser cannons.
Trigger down. Shields flashed but held. Tough gutkurr of a target, could do with a bomber’s warhead right about now. No time to linger on what is not available, focus on what is available now. Time for another run. Shields ate another strafe-
Mynock Two reports shield failure as explosion flared directly ahead in the profound blackness, revealing the viewport’s spoked features for the first time. Apply maximum deflection of etheric rudder to avoid the blast, clench against the inertia. Beads of molten metal showered the fighter chassis, but nothing to prompt damage notification.
A little too close for comfort, will have to talk to Two later.
Mynock Four snarled his own displeasure and reported his intent to break off due to damage sustained on his starboard radiator array. No time to worry about him, as long as the target is not disabled. Loop high over target, reacquire lock. Send down pelting fire across the freighter’s dorsal power conduit. Something exploded and their portside sunlight array wavered.
New target. Engine endured a respectable volley before belching out a blast of unfocused ionized particles with most of its glowing innards, submitting the starship into an uncontrolled yaw.
A sudden garble of noises filled his helmet as he directed his focus to the starboard engines, and before his thumb had a chance to render that to equally inoperable slag, a stilted Galactic Basic superimposed itself on top of the audio intrusion.
“Stop! Imperials, stop! We surrender!”
Crutic found himself sucking in a lungful of the stale, cool air as he recognized the Aqualish language and its translator assisted intentions. The rest of the Mynock flight also shared this moment of realization as they broke off from their attack vectors. Well, most of them anyway. At some point Mynock Four became a barely visible trail of titanium and quadanium steel. No life signs. Dank farrik.
”Ghtroc 720, power down immediately and stand by for boarding.” Mynock One’s voice had been level, but there was no denying that those benign words were layered with vitriol that preemptively silenced any kind of protest the other party might want to say. After a few satisfied seconds, the seething hatred dissipated as he changed frequency to the Gozanti to confirm that the onboard boarding party was prepared for the task.
Not long later, the frequency switched back to local and started with a deep sigh that Crutic could practically hear the muscles unclench itself. ”Mynock Flight, systems check.”
“Mynock Two, all systems nominal.”
”Mynock Three, likewise,” Crutic said, examining the reading his flight systems were offering him. Though, in the back of his mind, he could virtually hear the choice words picked by the maintenance team about the surface defects that were received during his near-miss of the explosion. At least he can point the blame to Two this time.
“Good, perform one last sensor sweep before redocking with the Deliverance and meet up at the main hold for debrief.”
A pair of affirmations later, the trio flowed over the crippled freighter at maximum sensor sweep to detect any kind of trap or other possible hindrances for the Gozanti boarding party. They also made sure to fly as uncomfortably close to the freighter as realistically plausible. Although the occupants surely wouldn’t see them, they will make sure they can hear them as loud as their aural sensors are willing to emulate, and hope that the distinctive howl of the twin ion engines resonate deep within the instinctive part of their psyche. The scans turned up nothing more than some dozen beings crammed in its cargo hold, and with that, they pulled back to give a wide berth to the docking Gozanti before connecting with it themselves. What happened next was out of their hands, they have an after action report to perform. With a layer of grief in their hearts.

While the return to Marjora Space was a transit that took only a matter of minutes, the sublight transit from the system’s edge to the Decadence was long enough to complete the debrief to an educational amount of detail, clean up, and prepare for the early departure. Under normal circumstances, it would have been a month or so more until the patrol rotation brought them back to the star destroyer low in Majora Prime’s atmosphere, but the recent development had details to iron out. Such as the prisoners they now have board that needed to go through processing - and if they looked like the stormtroopers were rougher with them than necessary, Crutic had chosen not to comment - and registering the loss of a member and securing their replacement. All of that meant at least a few days of shore leave.
At least, what actually constitutes a “shore leave” for the Imperials. It was anybody’s guess on how well the collective bulkhead of owned and affiliated starships, bases, and outposts have achieved a semblance of civilian life where enlisted and officers alike could loosen their mask of professionalism and indulge in a slice of greater society beyond their duty to the Imperial preservation and continuation. It was never intended to interfere with the military aspects and readiness, to be sure, but being surrounded slightly-different-walls and training bouts that might have been less about fitness and more about unspoken exchange of credits sets the scene for much needed stimulation to distract from the monotony of service. It was also an open secret that the galaxy’s assortment of liquid courage and other vile substances that Crutic would begrudge someone for partaking had slipped past regulation and formed an elusive enterprise that based themselves in various need-to-know locations. And the less said about the “flecks of inspiration” fresh from the Sapius Corp mines the better.
That being said, not all non-standard marketplace have to be so despicable, there were also demands from the more respectable members of society: the market for local goods. Ranging from simply a more comfortable clothing that could be worn under uniforms to prevent chafing to non-regulation but cozy blankets to keep warm during power rationing wherever one get stationed, or - one that Crutic is currently partaking in - foods that is used to supplement the stubborn mess droid’s nutritionally balanced but nonetheless dreary meals. Today was some kind of fried fish topped with a grated and pickled Marjora native seafloor tuber, courtesy of “The Shuttle Pilot” in the Decadence’s forward hangar’s armory. It wasn’t ba’buir Eres-Cruzia’s squirmer tiingilar that viciously strikes at the nose, but it was enough of a comfort food to dull the edges to a rough day.
A sigh brought back the reprimanding words of FS-273-4 - then, Mynock One - to the forefront of his mind. Yes, HG-273-81 - Mynock Two - shouldn’t have shot the target when there were friendly within the field of fire, but it was Crutic that blocked Mynock Four’s view of his projected flight path that costed him the necessary reaction time to recognize the explosion that crippled his craft and subsequently made him easy pickings for the freighter’s turret. It was an honest mistake, if a costly one. A life and an entire TIE fighter, the former a loyal member of the Empire and the latter an entire craft worth of irreplaceable components, gone to deep space. It wasn’t an uncommon occasion in the attrition against time, but missed all the same. With a sharp breath and an exertion of will, he suppressed the emotional baggage and sank into another crumbly bite to focus on its fishy, floral flavors that accompanied the textureless slurry of carbs and fiber methodically dispensed upon his metal platter.
Unable to keep it idle for long, his mind suggested the possibility of stopping by the star destroyer’s training facility, its spacious quality an allure to contrast against the cramped confines of the Gozantis. The notion was immediately dashed by a mouse droid that weaved through the forest of legs and beckoned for his attention. And with it came the news that his immediate future would be occupied by a debatably better use of his time. Downing the last of the vitamin enriched baked cuboid with a glass of water, he dismissed the droid and deposited the tray onto the outgoing conveyor on his way out of the mess hall. Helmet replaced securely on his head, he tackled the maze-like corridors and the necessary turbolifts at a brisk jog that eventually deposited him in front of the comms substation. The naval troopers guarding the room eyed him briefly before offering a nod of recognition and returning their bored stare at the opposite wall, implicitly granting him access to the inner workings.
With no combat situations or priority broadcast in effect to demand its full use, the ship’s comms served as a node that services a miniscule bandwidth to the greater galactic network. To the Imperial personnel with investment to the wider galaxy, it was a treasured peephole. It was monitored, of course, but it was a small price to pay for the privilege to be in touch with family and friends. Such as the case for Crutic. An exchange of relevant information to the comms operator later, a small monitor on the wall buzzed to life and resolved into a grainy image of a familiar woman that warmed something deep within his being.
”Su’cuy, buyca’kov,” she greeted, the sarcasm in her voice somehow making it through the heavy warping and choppiness of signal loss.
Crutic paused in his process of unraveling the layers of his persona for a second to grimaced slightly from what he considered to be an uncultured greeting; although the jab at the end served as a reminder that his helmet was still on, an issue he fixed immediately in one smooth motion.
“Hey, Lythsia, are ba’buire home?”
His half-sister took a few seconds to receive the message before shaking her head, assuming that’s what the poorly captured head blur would suggest. ”No, ba’buir Allisyr is out of business meeting down south ba’buir Eres is in the shop. It’s restock day.”
“It’s a miracle that you are at home at all!” Crutic offered a smile he reserved for a few beings in the entire Galaxy. While he had wanted to at least exchange pleasantries to his grandparents after a few long months, he is more than glad to share the time with his sibling.
“Oh, I could be elsewhere too if that’s what you prefer.”
“No, you’ll do,” he paused for a few seconds before speaking again, andt this time, his voice was grim, “how’re things out there?”
Lythsia gave an expression that’s hard to read through both the video’s low resolution and just the mix of emotions that fought for dominance in mere seconds. “If you mean the rebels, they are still focusing their efforts at Coruscant. We haven't really heard much about their interaction with the Governor after the demand for disarmament.”
“So you're holding up?”
“The ‘New Republic’ doesn’t bother my sector much. Shame, I got a backlog of datacard I’m fully willing to let someone ‘liberate’.”
Crutic could feel his eyebrows furrowed slightly as he shot a glance at the comm operator, who didn’t seem to take much notice about the details of the conversation. Of course, he has no reason to suspect his sister of treacherous thoughts as she is an alumni of SAGEducation, but it never hurts to be cautious against misinterpretations.

”I know, I know, I shouldn’t joke about these things. But honestly? I don't know how long it would hold out. The talking heads up top don’t give a gundark’s sheb about who taxes them at the end of the day. And our government is too worried about the lack of star destroyers to correct that.”
Crutic sighed and scratched at his hair, untangling a few helmet-induced knots along the way. It seems like that was a trend that would progressively get worse as the years went by. Not that he can do anything about it, he has an obligation here in Region 12, and it’s entirely up to the whims of Admiral Jaquinn - and Governor Ryehall above him - to see if they plan to do anything about the anarchy going on in the galaxy.
“Well, anything good happen since we last spoke?”
Lythisa thought for a long moment - or the video feed froze, hard to say - before she shrugged. ”Team Uviuy made it through the preliminary in Galactic Cup, there’s that.”
A light chuckle escaped his lips at the new topic. As far as good news goes, it was quite low bar but he could at least appreciate the effort to ease the tension. He chose to latch onto it. “Think they will make it to at least the Semi-Finals?”
“Only if Team Fondor gets disqualified.”
“So that’s a no.”
”Last time Uviuy even got close to the podium, the Unknown Regions was still being charted.”
Crutic offered a puzzled expression at what appeared to be a trivia, given that the subject referenced was self-defining. “It still is-”
”Exactly,” Lythsia face was smug.
The conversations continued amicably, delving onwards from sport recaps to a prod at Lythsia's quest for romance and the subsequent defense of her character by criticizing her now-former-partners despite him having never met them, which naturally lead her to remind him that he should be more worried about his own lack of engagements. And inevitably brought the focus back on his activities for the last few months that wasn't obscured by confidentiality.
But far too soon, a movement by the doorway signaled that his allotted time had ran out. The monitor blacked with his sister's parting words, leaving behind a pang of wistful homesickness to swirl in his mind, as it always tended to do after such a session. And as he has done before and will do in the coming times, he took a moment to regained his composure. A process where vulnerability abdicate its role to the facade that grew away from the tender care. One of arrogance, pride, and ruthlessness; but also one of conviction, determination, and intensity. One of an Imperial pilot. As the helmet consumed his head, his soul stilled and he stepped forth down the grey halls with renewed resolve.

Good evening, u/redco_moderncallout. I am going to put this out there first: This is a GOOD update, though many people will disagree because of the new business model with Shanix and in-app purchases, and the new crate system. The transition from Apple Arcade to App Store immediately opens up the doors for more people to play, but the game is still exclusive to Apple devices, which is a shame and will hopefully expand even further soon so that Android and other phone users can join us. The transition was hard on the game though, and it seems less optimized now. Before we get into that, let's first list some pros and cons of the new update:
Pros:
The new cards - Hands down the best part of the update, just like any other update.
• Galvatron opens up the possibilities for the addition of other Unicron minions such as Scourge and Cyclonus. He operates interestingly, approaching a structure while firing at any units in his path, transforming into a Fusion Beam Turret cannon that chips away a structure's health. I wish the beam of Galvatron's cannon mode built up damage over time just like the Fusion Beam Turret and damaged any units in its trajectory as well.
• Blackarachnia seems more practical on paper than in game, stunning 3 units at once but not doing much else. However, it is her appearance that is more interesting, notably the fact that her design is inspired by Animated Blackarachnia. Does this mean we might get more characters from Transformers: Animated in the future? Does this mean we might get Lugnut from Animated as a proper Mega Knight from Clash Royale (Optimal Optimus does not count), like proposed before? Does this mean we might see Blitzwing with three modes (and personalities), or Bulkhead added to this game? The possibilities are endless. But for Blackarachnia, I would consider lowering her Energon cost to 3 from 4.
• Jetfire is an interesting concept and was my most hyped card to see added to this game, but unfortunately, he does not do much. He's pretty squishy, doesn't deal any damage (no rocket or laser attacks), and deploys squishy Autobot Elite Infantry that I fail to see how elite it is compared to regular Auobot Infantry. I would have loved to see some kind of Stun attack added to the electrical gauntlets the Autobot Elite Infantry units wear, which would immediately make the card better. However, his 5 Energon cost and ability to deploy units from anywhere in the Arena actually makes him a viable card.
• Rhinox is exciting to see added to this game, especially considering how much I love his design in Rise of the Beasts. For 5 Energon, he is basically a better version of Bumblebee, but after all the running and smashing, his regular attack seems slow and underwhelming. I think Rhinox should have a ranged and a melee attack for his Chainguns. After smashing into a structure, instead of shooting at it, Rhinox would drill like Bonecrusher using his Chainguns. Once the structure is destroyed, Rhinox would use his Chainguns to shoot from a range of 4 or 5 at any threats or any other structures in range. Rhinox would again switch to his drilling melee attack if a melee-based enemy unit would run up to him.
The new interface - It is obvious that the new interface is designed with the idea of adding more content in future updates, which is always a win. The current white frame could be customized into an orange or red Autobot version, a purple or black Decepticon version, an Earth/human version (inspired by the Terran interface from StarCraft), or a green Quintesson version, and so on. The menu is different and yet easy to navigate. More options could be added to the main menu, like more proposed game modes and Battle Log. The new leaderboard system only took a minute to adjust to. The only negative is the 3 crate slots, but that is coming up, believe it. No other complaints in this department.
All other new content - It's also nice to see the additions of a new Earth City arena, a new banger Music track (is the title 5KYL1N3 supposed to be a reference to Sky Lynx?), new Emotes, etc. The new Shanix currency is interesting. The graphics options in the Settings seem to be working properly now (hint: Turn your fps from 30 to 60, it will make the gameplay much smoother). There’s not much else to say, new content is always good.
Cons:
I understand crate hoarding was bound to be nerfed, but to only 3 crate slots? That is simply not enough. And players have to unlock each crate individually, with a Common one taking 3 HOURS to open, and a Mega one taking 15 HOURS to open? Most players probably do what I do and play until they win 5 games a day, at which point they stop for the day. AT LEAST increase the total number of crate slots from 3 to 5 and make it an option to start opening ALL crates at once, with their respective timers, instead of one at a time. The way crates are implemented right now is hurting both new players and returning players who have not maxed out before the transition by setting boundaries that weren’t there before, and that is not good for the game. Add more crate slots and implement simultaneous crate opening or bring crate hoarding back.
No balance changes - Not a single card was reworked in this update, and I don't know how to feel about that. On one hand, I'm glad my deck will remain the same with no necessary modifications. On the other, the stale Chaser meta remains for us to continue suffering through.
Connection issues: I NEVER had this game crash on me before, but just today, after playing for 30 minutes, the game crashed 3 times, all 3 resulting in defeats, tanking my ranking.
Optimization issues: This game is harder on my battery now. I play on low graphics settings with 30 fps. Before the transition, one game would cost 1% of battery life. Playing three games took me down from fully charged at 100% down to 93%. That doesn’t seem like a lot, but the game wasn’t like this, which made it playable for hours. Now it overheats the phone, which leads to lagging and crashes. There are also weird visual bugs that happen whenever a unit is deployed. A Chaser plays an explosion animation but doesn't actually explode when deployed, Autobot Infantry explode like they die but don't actually die when deployed, Wheeljack's Graviton Grenade floats above his head when first deployed, weird bugs like that which didn't exist before the update.
Sudden lack of indicators: Drop Squad and Neutron Bomb now have no indicators of where they are going to drop. This is a big deal especially for Drop Squad, because if you have your volume off, you will not see a Drop Squad approaching until they are on top of your turret, beating the scrap out of it. Return the indicators.
Also, it seems like there were a bunch of "ghost" nerfs and buffs to cards that weren't announced in the Patch Notes. For example, Prowl's rockets sometimes do not deal knockback damage (happened to me twice after the update), Drop Squad does not have an indicator of where the Autobot Infantry units will land now, which causes major confusion and does not allow for immediate countering, and Chasers appear to deal more knockback now (for example, the Sharkticons scatter more on hit now). There may be more I have not encountered yet. I don't know if these are just glitches or not, but the Drop Squad is now OP because of the lack of indicators. I remember this was an issue in the first version of the game, and wonder if Red Games Co. made the same mistake two years later when re-releasing the game.
There is also a misspelling in the Shop in the ORE-13 section. The titles go “Mountain of ORE-13”, “Mouthful of ORE-13”, and “Mountain of ORE-13”, but they don’t match their respective pictures, the first one showing a mouthful, the second showing a truckload, and the third showing a mountain. That’s an issue that is easy to fix.
There are other issues I have not encountered but am sure others have. My biggest complaint is how long it took to deliver this update. It has been 5 months since the January update when Prowl and the Battlechargers were added. 5 months later, and the Battlechargers still cost 5 Energon and have their massive alt modes. With time leaps like this, it’s almost impossible to actually fix this game and implement any changes to fix broken cards and make older cards useful again. Not every update needs a ton of new content to be added, sometimes we just need a balance patch to literally “patch” some things up. People have been complaining about the Chasers for almost a year now, why haven’t they been nerfed yet? Why is Blurr still 4 Energon? Why is Airazor still useless? It’s subtle things like this that ruin the game more than game-breaking glitches do. I told u/picopede a long time ago that the best way to update this game would be to publish small, frequent updates that would always spice things up. New cards would continue to be added, but it feels like with every new content update, the game itself is getting worse. Focus on fixing the game before adding anything new and do it quickly before the game dies.
In the end, what I'm getting out of all of this is that the transition from Apple Arcade to regular App Store was hard on the game and the community. It was definitely worth it, but, as expected, there is a lot of adapting that needs to happen on the players’ side and a lot of work/fixing that needs to happen on Red’s part. There are major game-breaking issues present in the game right now that prevent me from recommending it to anyone, and the new monetization strategy is insulting. Please consider implementing the changes proposed in this post, especially when it comes to crates and progression.
