2023.06.05 16:05 Ok_Step_4324 How did I LOSE a pound of muscle mass?
F 46, SW 142, CW 129, GW 115ish. I started CICO and strength training about three months ago (and this group has been so helpful, thank you!). On my trainer's advice I did a DEXA scan right at the beginning of my journey, and it showed I had about 36% body fat. I did another one recently after three months of pretty consistent work, and there were some good gains - I'm down to 32% body fat, lost 8 lbs of fat mass, and have made gains with the weights - but it also showed that I lost a full pound of muscle mass. My trainer said that doesn't usually happen, but suggested it could be not enough protein or not enough sleep. She and I looked at my MFP tracking and it does seem I'm getting plenty of protein, but I do have abysmal sleep habits that I'm trying to change. Anyone else experienced this, and if so do you know what caused it?

2023.06.05 15:59 MilkedSquid The use of prescription medications for weight loss?
23F 5’3 I’ve been trying to lose weight for a bit now. I was always a high weight number wise, but looked skinny. After a really bad relationship and a LOT of WEEKLY medication changes from a very bad nurse practitioner, I put on tons of weight. These are some pics of me at 250 pounds vs when I finally hit 190. I got put on a new medication days after hitting this milestone and in month gained 30 pounds from it, putting me back at 220. Back down to 205 and I’ve been sitting here for a month and a half with no lowering of weight. I have physical disabilities that make it hard to exercise and have a low caloric intake already. My weight is high enough atm that w my chronic pain and flare ups its just too hard sometimes to motivate myself to do it, and consistency is my worst developed skill other than maybe patience lol Anyways, getting extra outside help w my weight loss would make it easier for me to exercise. I was thinking of starting a medication to help me lose the more troublesome weight, in hopes that it’ll be easier to start and maintain a more active lifestyle AFTER I lose the weight. I have a family history of diabetes, and got genetic testing that shows I have a 50% chance of developing it in my lifetime so I want to be proactive about my weight. I might be able to drop a good portion from a breast reduction, but I’m still on the fence about getting one after the risks described to me by my plastic surgeon and I’m not at the correct bmi or health to get it done rn, plus I’d wanna lose more weight first anyways. Im sitting at a 40J US which also makes it very hard to exercise. Even after losing that 60 lbs my bra size went up so idk what to do about that. Thats been consistent every time I lose weight I go up bra sizes, might just be the years passing. I was going to physical therapy, but I’m moving soon and my schedule is hectic so it’ll be a while before I can start it again in addition to my weight loss. You don’t have to give me “medical advice” but I’m curious about y’alls opinions of weight loss medications, especially in my situation. I would post pics so you can kinda see my body type bc I don’t think I look too heavy for my weight and height? I mean, def plus size obviously but my doctors have always thought I looked healthy for my weight and height despite bmi, plethora of other health conditions aside. My final goal is 165 w milestones in between. At each milestone I reevaluate what I want my final goal to be. Its a soft final goal. If I get to 170 and think I’m healthy there, I’d stop there. If I hit 165 and still think I should go lower, maybe my goal switches to 155, y’know? Lmk if I need to mention anything else. Sorry this is so long 😵💫

2023.06.05 15:58 chorizocannon Have trailer picked out, but worried about tow capacity
Hello! I’ve perused this sub for a while, and am taking the leap into rving this summer and fall.
I have the trailer I’d like picked out, it’s a ‘22 Dutchmen colorado. Dry Weight 4,739 lbs. Payload Capacity 2,861 lbs. Hitch Weight 487 lbs.
I’ve been looking at SUVs and trucks that can tow 8600-9000lbs and am seeing Suburbans, Armadas, and Seqiouas.
I guess what I’m trying to make into a question is - am I looking at the right vehicles/what other options do I have that I’m not aware of (not a “car” person)?
I really appreciate any advice!

I am a beginner to working out, and am deciding between these two sizes. I know that I won't be able to lift 50 lbs at the start, but I am thinking about long term, months and years. I am planning to just put less sand in the sandbag and fill it up with towels or foam. Does anyone have any advice or experience?

2023.06.05 15:55 Top-Bat5990 Duotone rebel Vs North Orbit
Trying to decide on my next quiver. Have been on my learner kites which are slingshot rallies 9/12 for the last two years. My favorite thing is boosting and so I’m looking now to upgrade to some big air kites. Basically all I do is try to jump high and throw some basic loops. Most popular ones at my spot are orbits and rebels. Wondering if anyone can give me some input on reasons to prefer one over the other. Considering an 8/10 quiver this time. Leaning toward duotone as I hear it’s easiest kite around to boost high. I’m 6’4” 195 lbs. Thank you!

| || |
Need some advice - submitted by michaelbgilbert86 to Surlybikefans [link] [comments]
So excitement got the best of me. I jumped the gun and bought a 64 cm disc trucker and was so excited for it but….pretty sure it is to big. LBS didnt size me. I just said I really like the idea of a disc trucker, I dont know what size I would need, I am pretty tall…(6’4.5 300lbs) maybe a 64cm? They ordered it since they didn’t have any Surly’s in stock. Picked it up last week and rode 15 miles and was very ….numb. Took it back to the LBS where they worked hard to convince me that I did pick the right size (probably because they don’t want this thing in their stock I would imagine). They added a 20 mm shorter stem, moved the seat all the way forward, and down a bit. Just did 15 miles this morning, and while it is a bit better, less numbness in …areas…and less wrist pain it is not what I expected. I still feel very stretched out and putting pressure in the saddle area. They will order me a different size (although they didn’t seem excited about exchanging it) but just wondering how much difference going to something like a 60cm will really make. Looking at the stack and reach ( I didn’t know what those were until after I bought the bike) going to something like a 60 will bring the reach a bit over an inch closer, but also stack will drop? Anybody else done something similar? Just dont want to have them order a 60 or a 58 and end up in the same situation. Or go through the hassle of sizing down if it won’t make that big a difference.

I’m mostly concerned about the fact that A. I had to come in to redo my yearly blood draw last month and B. my doctor didn’t say “labs ok” like she usually does. Do you think it’s leukemia or something else serious??

2023.06.05 15:42 Green_Aspect_1065 100th time restarting my journey
I struggle with being consistent in my eating habits and exercise. There are months (usually about 1-2 months of consistency before I go back to my old habits) where I take my weight loss journey serious. But then i realize it only takes one full day of unhealthy eating to take me off course and stop trying completely. In result of this, I haven’t lost a single pound and I’ve been intending to lose about 100 lbs for the last 3 years now. So over the back and forth. How do you keep consistent? How do you fight cravings & temptation? What are some positive things you tell yourself during this time?

2023.06.05 15:34 Ichbindick [Online][5E][UTC+1][Wednesday Evenings][LGBTQ+ Friendly] Wanted: Warriors, Wizards, and Wayfarers to discover the Lost Mine of Phandelver - New players welcome! 🐉⚔️👑⛏️🏹🪓🛡️🧙♂️
The world of the Forgotten Realms is one of high fantasy, populated by elves, dwarves, halflings, humans, and other folk. On the roads and rivers of the Realms travel minstrels and peddlers, merchants and guards, soldiers and sailors. Steel-hearted adventurers from backcountry farmsteads and sleepy villages follow tales of strange, glorious, faraway places. Good maps and clear trails can take even an inexperienced youth with dreams of glory far across the world, but these paths are never safe. Fell magic and deadly monsters are the perils one faces when travelling in the Realms. Even farms and freeholds within a day’s walk of a city can fall prey to monsters, and no place is safe from the sudden wrath of a dragon.
Greetings travellers! I’m Oscar (He/Him), the DM for this new Lost Mine of Phandelver campaign. I'm excited to invite you to join me on an epic journey through the Sword Coast. I'm leaving this form open for ~3-4 days and hope to get back to as many people within a week :) For any questions, DM me or ask them in the comments !
This game is primarily for newer players, although exceptions can be made with joint/group applications, so let me know if that applies. I'm looking for 4-5 players.
We will be playing using Discord voice chat, D&DBeyond and Roll20 VTT, every WEDNESDAY 6.30-11PM BST.
I’m based in the UK and so primarily looking for people in the UTC +0/+1/+2 time zones. If you’d like me to consider multiple applications together, please DM me about it.
This is an 18+ game and I will not consider anyone younger.
I ask that you have a stable internet connection and a decent microphone to play.
As DM posts can be popular, if you haven’t heard from me within a week after applying, it is very likely I haven’t picked you. I apologise in advance, and wish you the best luck in trying to find a game that you enjoy. Following this, I will try to arrange a brief 1-on-1 video call to try to get to know those on the shortlist better before the final decision is made.
You begin near Phandalin
We begin your journey on the road to Phandalin
, a bustling frontier settlement, recently rebuilt nestled within the foothills of the Sword Mountains, home to farmers, woodcutters, fur traders, and prospectors drawn by stories of gold and platinum in the foothills of the Sword Mountains. Dangerous beings are afoot however, bandits, goblins, orcs and even sightings of a mysterious dragon, your character will quickly become aware as they begin their journey as an adventurer.
Your patron, Gundren Rockseeker
, has hired you to escort a wagon to Phandalin. He has gone ahead with a warrior, Sildar Hallwinter, to attend to business in the town while you follow with the supplies. You have been promised 10gp each by the owner of Barthen’s Provisions
in Phandalin if you deliver the wagon safely to that trading post.
Your Character in the World
In session 0 all players and the DM will work together for everyone to create a character, 2 NPCs (Preferably one of which will be based in Phandalin, the other further afield), 2 connections to NPCs created by other players, connections to 2 other players, a Personal Goal, and a motivation for why they accepted Gundren’s Contract. This will be visualised using “The Web”
. Be prepared to work with me to figure out how your character can be best involved with the world at hand - the main buy-in is that YOU are open to adventure, and be willing to work in a group. Before coming to session 0, I ask that you do not come with fully developed characters. Touchstones or general ideas are absolutely welcomed but flexibility is needed on both the DM and Player ends to integrate your character with the world.
Characters begin at 1st level
. I suggest using online tools to visualise your character, such as Heroforge, Picrew or another avatar generator, to help get a better understanding of them.
- As this is a beginner focused campaign, character options are to be chosen from the Player’s Handbook and Sword Coast Adventurer's Guide, with the exception for the Replacement Features for the Ranger appearing in Tasha's Cauldron of Everything.
- Point Buy or Standard Array will be used for stat generation.
- Starting equipment and standard encumbrance rules will be in use (15x your strength score in lbs).
- *Multiclassing is advised against, especially for beginners.
The game will typically be run using those set out in the core rules (Player’s Handbook, DM’s Guide).
Additionally, here are some extra rules I use.
- No Evil Characters.
- Bonus Action Healing Potions - Healing potions take an action or a bonus action to consume when used on yourself. All other potions require an action.
- Hidden Death saves. Death saves will be made privately to the DM to avoid other players using the results of that to determine their course of action.
- Hit Dice Rerolls. If you roll a 1 when determining HP increase on a level up, you may choose to reroll it and take that roll instead.
- Group Awarded Inspiration. At the end of the session, the players and DM vote to award inspiration to the player who they thought had the best moment; roleplay or otherwise.
- Optional Rules. These rules from the DMG are in use: Diagonals, Feats, Inspiration, Milestone Levelling, Multiclassing*
- “Safe Haven” Long Rests. Long Rests must be completed within a “Safe Haven”. “Safe Havens” are places that are safe (no need for anyone on watch), sheltered (indoors, in a solid building), and comfortable (with actual, comfortable beds).
- Variant Group Checks. When a group check where everybody rolls occurs a single, randomly chosen character’s result is used.
We will be playing using Discord voice chat
and Roll20 VTT
, with DnDBeyond
to create characters and the Beyond20
chrome/firefox extension to assist with rolling online. I ask that you have a stable internet connection
and a decent microphone
if you want to play.

2023.06.05 15:33 BigPapiT Help my my numbers
32 year old male, 6’2 255 pounds
Bloodwork from last November vs. last week
| ||Nov 2022 ||June 2023 |
|Total Cholesterol ||228 ||244 |
|Triglyceride ||173 ||258 |
|HDL ||40 ||42 |
|Calculated LDL ||157 ||160 |
|Ratio LDL/HDL ||3.93 ||3.8 |
|Iron ||48 ||91 |
So iron and cholesterol levels were both undesirable during my blood test 6 months ago. I was able to get iron levels up, but cholesterol also went up likely due to weight gain.
I must have weighed maybe 245 lbs last November vs. 255 now.
For reference, I weighed around 200 pounds 6 years ago, and total cholesterol was just around 200.
Seems like losing weight is the fastest way for me to improve? Also, any idea what would cause such a massive spike in triglycerides while LDL and HDL didn’t go up as much? Purely diet driven? Ironically the LDL/HDL ratio got better.

2023.06.05 15:27 Organic_Coach Did My Neck Disc Just Slip
Exactly one week ago today, I'm lifting weights early in the morning, performing a particular variation of side lateral raises: at the top of the exercise, when I've raised the dumbbells so that they're parallel with the ground, I'm rotating my thumbs downward and maintaining this position for one second-- almost like I'm dumping water out of two jugs on either side of me. I then rotate my thumbs back up, pause another beat, and lower the weights. Believe I was using 20 lbs in each hand. However, at the top of my tenth rep, as I'm turning my thumbs downward, I can feel something deep inside my neck "slide." Almost like one of the vertebrae has quickly shifted out of place. My right arm immediately goes slack and falls to my side. The initial sliding sensation was disgustingly visceral. It felt akin to having your knees buckle underneath you, but in one of your vertebrae instead. It felt like someone squeezing the filling out of a jelly doughnut in my neck. I slowly put the weights down and walked it off. My gut feeling was that I'd fucked up pretty badly. Once I'd returned the weights to the rack, I was able to fully recover use and range-of-motion of my right arm. But my neck remained patently stiff for the remainder of the day, though. During the remainder of the week, sharp and acute pain only occurred when I turned my head too swiftly, or raised my arms above my head, e.g. like washing my hair in the shower afterwards. And a deeper, stealthier pain emanated from my right neck and shoulder joint after prolonged periods of simple tasks with my right arm, e.g. washing the dishes. This lower-lying, enteric pain seemed to ease with ibuprofen, convincing me it was mainly inflammation. Stretching my neck for about fifteen minutes each morning seems to absolve me from most of the pain throughout the rest of the day-- whether it's the sharp, pinching pain or the duller, stealthier pain. However, if I skip the stretching that day, the pain returns to my right neck and shoulder. And once it ultimately does return, it does not seem to have ameliorated. My anxiety is that I herniated a disc in my C5 or C6 vertebra-- hence the squelching, shifting sensation at the peak of the exercise-- and that I should have immediately immobilized my arm by wearing a sling the rest of the week. My failure to do this could have shut the window of opportunity for recovery, I fear. Yesterday, I had to spend the entire day schlepping around groceries and laundry, which in retrospect was stupid. I was carrying roughly 20 lbs of dirty clothes in a backpack slung over my shoulders, while holding a few pounds of groceries in each arm, as I walked a couple miles to the bus stop. The warm, dull, radiating pain plagued me the rest of the day. And this morning, when I woke up, I noticed seemingly contused tissue around my right shoulder joint. The skin of that region displays narrow bands of purple discoloration, as though blood has been pushed to the surface. My neck feels tighter than it has in days. Give it to me straight doc. Does this sound like a slipped disc? And if so, how bad have I fucked myself by merely rubbing a little dirt on it when I should have sought treatment instead?

2023.06.05 15:16 Stuckin13 Clicking Knee?
Hello, 23M here, I'm 5"11' and around 210 lbs, I don't smoke or consume alcohol, have not had any previous relevant injuries, and the only prescription I'm currently taking is Buproprion.
For some background, I started a labor-heavy job last week, and around Thursday or Friday I heard-and felt-a loud pop in my knee while moving stuff around. I didn't think anything of it at the time, since there wasn't any pain or swelling, but since then my knee has started to click. It's not the same as popping the knee joint, I know what those feel like, and it only happens when I twist on that leg or when I'm walking, specifically when I lift that leg up and the pressure on the knee releases. It's not painful at all, except maybe a bit of soreness that I've been feeling all over from having to get used to all the activity, but should I be worried?
