In terms of combat gameplay (ignoring lore, story, personality, etc), who did you have the most difficult time with?
For me, it's Malik from Graces hands down. I like his character, and the game has one of the best combat systems in the franchise, but he is just almost unplayable. The enemies are always too fast for him to set up his spells without a glory/concentration skill and his bladerangs leave him open waaay too much. Spell casters are usually a difficult class to get the hang of, but Malik seemed to suffer the worst. I even enjoy Raine's "Hyyah! Heh!" ad nausiam better.
Most of Zesty's characters were a struggle too, but I blame the camera more than anything. Who could you just not warm up to?

Hello! Apologies if this is a dumb question, but I wanted to ask about importing models found on models-resource.com - mostly the kart models from this page as it doesn't appear that they are available on the Workshop yet.
As they are solid objects I don't think they would need to be rigged at all, and many of the tutorials I can find seem to be concerned with animation/rigging which doesn't seem necessary for these objects.
What's the best workflow for me to get these models into SFM to use in my projects?

2023.03.23 10:01 BerndTheBro Does anyone upgraded to an aluminium bed and can share their experience?

I already made some changes on my Sidewinder X2 by replacing the X Slot wheels with a linear rail and also im now replacing the print head with a voron stealthburner. Also i changed to klipper firmware. Since i'll be there anyway i was thinking about replacing the glass bed too because it bended over the time and isnt flat anymore. So i found a kit for nearly 170€ with a 5mm aluminium bed, the original heater, the magnetic foil and a PEI sheet. The only thing stopping me from buying is the weight of the new aluminium bed. Since the other upgrades i made are aiming to speed up my printer the weight could slow down everything again. Maybe someone can share their experience or their thoughts.

The Truth About The AEU (SA Branch) An Open Letter
A Conflict of Interest
In 2018, Paul Goulter conducted an independent review of the AEU and its' practices; the independent report was titled “stuck” (attached). The report was originally intended to be released to the membership so they would know where their fees go, however once the report mentioned a personal relationship, at the time between an elected official and a staff member, it was sealed off and declared for internal use only. This section of this letter concerns that relationship.
For a number of years, there has been a deeply concerning conflict of interest at the core of the AEU. It is well known amongst the staff, the executive, and former members of both aforementioned groups, that Andrew Gohl (AEUSA Branch president) and Leah York (AEUSA Branch Secretary) are in a sexual relationship, and have been for some years. This relationship is very concerning, considering that both of these individuals occupy the highest positions with in the AEU (SA Branch). There is no official record of this relationship, nor does it appear that anything has been done to negate, counter, or manage the conflict of interest that stems from the relationship. Many members of the AEUSA staff and executive have been threatened with legal action around ‘sexual harassment’ for questioning the nature of the relationship and the impact it has on the operation, efficacy, and ethical compass of the branch.
There is a general consensus amongst those who have worked for AEUSA in some capacity that many decisions around finance, staffing, and the general direction of the union, happen out of hours, out of sight, between the sheets, and a strategy is formed to best serve the relationship, by doing what it takes to keep them both at the top, and by keeping anyone who could be perceived as a threat far away from any real influence. It is sad to note that many feel they have no choice but to ignore this clear ethical breach to keep their jobs, and mental health safe. In any other union, this would have been shut down before it could have started. In any other union, there would be serious questions about a branch president and a branch secretary taking an international holiday together. In any ethical operation, this would have been declared when both were candidates for election to the roles they currently undertake. Any branch secretary acting ethically, would not have started a relationship with a staff member.
Currently the Registered Organisations Commission is investigating the corruption outlined above on no less than three reports.
A Mass Exodus
In the last 18 months, the AEUSA branch has lost a number of staff, with decades of industrial experience, many of whom were frustrated with the unions' impotence and inability to provide real action on real issues. Many AEU staff have moved on to other unions, some of which, could be described as a competing union. Those who have moved on have often done so, so that they can work to the best of their ability, without the constraints of incompetent leadership handcuffing their ability to best serve members.
Staff members have been unceremoniously moved on, and replaced by people with little, or at best questionable experience. The question has to be asked, why are competent staff leaving in droves? Why do some of those replacing them have no union or education experience? Some of the staff who have left, had vacancies that were not filled until 01/02/23, leaving thousands of members without an organiser to talk to, sometimes for multiple school terms.
Some staff members were bullied and harassed by both Andrew Gohl and Leah York to the point that they have sought workcover for mental health injuries, and there has been large sums of money used to buy the silence of the bullied.
A question about the mass loss of staff was asked at an executive meeting, to which Andrew Gohl gave an answer saying that he was not concerned with the loss of staff, and that this was all in line with the Goulter (stuck) report. This lack of concern shows the current branch president’s lack of understanding of the gravity of the current situation. For a small Organisation, this is a huge turnover, and members should be very concerned with who they are paying to represent them.
The Registered organisations commission is also investigating the workplace harassment and bullying outlined above, also on no less than 3 different reports.
Value for Money
The AEU pays some of it's employees well above the pay of the average member, and well above the wage of the average union organiser. Given the state of the union’s membership being in decline, some have questioned whether these pay rates are too high.
Andrew Gohl and Leah York are paid $190,198 annually. This is the same salary that principals get at some of South Australia's largest schools. Vice Presidents Matthew Cherry and Jan Murphy are paid $158,000 annually Organisers are paid between $125,233 and $133,456 annually. This is the same salary that principals get in some of South Australia's smallest schools.
Given that the budget is in an annual deficit of around $500k, some of these pay rates could be reduced to a more reasonable level of a tier 9 teacher ($108,441) or a B1 leader ($117,680) in order to stop the AEUSA branch from slipping into a financial deficit.
It is also worth noting that the AEU has participated in wage theft, and has on occasion, refused to pay out leave to former employees, or payed employees less for their work, despite taking on the same role as those paid more.
A Lack of Empathy
In the last 6 months, many members have resigned the AEU, citing financial hardship as the reason for cancelling their union membership. Many AEU staff made suggestions that fees could be lowered, or paused, or an amnesty for unpaid back fees could be used to help members, given the current economic conditions of high inflation, and rising interest rates. Staff were instead instructed to try to convince resigning members of the value of union membership, and that they should continue to pay their full rate, regardless of their personal financial difficulties. This instruction came from Andrew Gohl and Leah York, who are concerned that people are trying to cheat the system, and that members aren't really having the financial difficulties that they claim to be experiencing – this is very easy for someone on $190,198 a year to say.
Numbers in Freefall
Since 31/10/21, more than 2000 members have left the AEU. Branch president Andrew Gohl has said many times that this “keeps him up at night”. Despite all of his sleepless nights, he has yet to put forward a plan, strategy, or original idea, to try and retain or attract members to the AEU. Currently the AEU represents less than 38% of public education workers, giving the union very little power to sway or influence policy around their industry of concern.
Members have often asked “what does the AEU actually do for me?” and beyond the occasional professional development session, and the once-every-four-years enterprise bargaining campaign, the AEU doesn't have much to point to in terms of achievement. The organisers (or in this case former organisers) often spent most of their time dealing with single school based issues, with varying levels of success – but what if your school is doing fine and it's not an EB year, and the limited AEU PD doesn't have what you're looking for? What's there for you?
In the past AEUSA had organisers who had a focus area. The focus area organsiers were meant to represent a particular constituency to make sure that all members were properly represented. A former leaders focus organiser felt that the position existed to tick a box, and that it was there for image, not impact. The position of SSO focus organiser was scrapped, and converted to a general organiser position, ignoring the protests of the former SSO focus organiser. An Aborignal Education focus organiser was criticised for spending too much time on their focus area, and not with general membership.
What needs to happen?
A union should be run and staffed by people passionate to see change in the industry they represent, to better its outcome both in terms of workers rights and compensation, and in the industries product, in this case, educational outcomes. If Andrew Gohl and Leah York genuinely care about the state of public education in South Australia, they should resign their positions, and allow the union to undertake the significant reform that it so desperately needs.
If members care about their union, the union's behaviour and what the union represents, they should move motions at their sub-branches, or area meetings, calling for the Branch President and Branch Secretary to resign. They can also call the Greenhill Road office directly on 8172 6300 to ask them to resign!
If the Premier, Peter Malinauskas and Minister for Education and Skills, Blair Boyer care about public education workers having a union that properly represents them, they will step in and halt enterprise bargaining negotiations until an independent investigation has occurred, or until the current branch president and branch secretary step down. We are incredibly worried that public education in South Australia doesn't have a strong union to represent public education workers. We fear that this will lead to a steep decline in the conditions and outcomes within South Australia's Department for Education.
We are doing this to try and save the union that we love dearly.

But she just can't see that. She only see's my failures. She can't see how much I'm struggling to even get out of bed. I just can't do anything good with my life atp. I might not gonna be able to get into collage, I might not even get a job, I'll probably end up on the fucking streets. Why can't I bring myself to do anything. I feel as if it's so much more than "low motivation" I've been like this for at least 3 years now. I'm just 14. I should be doing something already. I should be getting good grades and making my parents proud. Not disappointing them every damn day. All I am is nothing but a burden and a disappointment. I'm considering just taking a break from life. I don't wanna deal with so much pressure anymore. I just need that permanent solution. I don't wanna be here anymore. I don't even have friends in the "real world". I'm just some guy in the background that means absolutely nothing. Who would miss me anyway? My parents would have one less problem and my teachers wouldn't have to see my stupid ass anymore. It'll be for the best. But I'm scared to do it. This is the basic system I use to override video content while keeping consistency. i.e NOT just stlyzing them with a cartoon or painterly effect.
  1. Take your video clip and export all the frames in a 512x512 square format. You can see I chose my doggy and it is only 3 or 4 seconds.
  2. Look at all the frames and pick the best 4 keyframes. Keyframes should be the first and last frames and a couple of frames where the action starts to change (head turn etc, , mouth open etc).
  3. Copy those keyframes into another folder and put them into a grid. I use https://www.codeandweb.com/free-sprite-sheet-packer . Make sure there are no gaps (use 0 pixels in the spacing).
  4. Copy the grid photo into ControlNet and use HED or Canny, and ask Stable Diffusion to do whatever. I asked for a Zombie Dog, Wolf, Lizard etc. *Addendum... you should put: Light glare on film, Light reflected on film into your negative prompts. This prevents frames from changing colour or brightness usually.
  5. When you get a good enough set made, cut up the new grid into 4 photos and paste each over the original frames. I use photoshop. Make sure the filenames of the originals stay the same.
  6. Use EBsynth to take your keyframes and stretch them over the whole video. EBsynth is free.
  7. Run All. This pukes out a bunch of folders with lots of frames in it. You can take each set of frames and blend them back into clips but the easiest way, if you can, is to click the Export to AE button at the top. It does everything for you!
  8. You now have a weird video.
If you have enough Vram you can try a sheet of 16 512x512 images. So 2048x2048 in total. I once pushed it up to 5x5 but my GPU was not happy. I have tried different aspect ratios, different sizes but 512x512 frames do seem to work the best. I'll keep posting my older experiments so you can see the progression/mistakes I made and of course the new ones too. Please have a look through my earlier posts and any tips or ideas do let me know.

Just finished running my first full campaign, the Two Headed Serpent. What a ride!
(Spoilers!)
Overall it was fantastic. Our story went fairly different than what was in the book, in particular I changed Tyrannish quite a bit. I didn't love how she was presented in the book, where she disappears after North Borneo and doesn't appear again until the end of Calcutta, where she is presented as a total psychopath, murdering thousands of people without a second thought. I thought her motivation to end the war between serpent people and humanity in a way that would not cause any more lost lives was compelling, and her actions in Calcutta would contradict this characterization. Instead, I played her more "Lawful Neutral" instead of "Chaotic Evil" -- in many ways she is fond of humans, but their forced transformation is for the greater good of all.
Some notes and thoughts from the chapters--
Chapter 1: Bolivia
This one played pretty close to the book, making it a good introduction for both the GM and players. I made finding the wards something of a puzzle using a gridded game mat that they had to search through, using clues to find the wards before the Inner Night. I also liked the introduction to the formless spawn, which was a very tense moment before the players realized how to defeat them. The temple itself was also fun, with one of the players deciding to jump inside the giant snake and attacking it from the inside, finishing the encounter successfully.
Chapter 2: New York City
I liked how this chapter was more of a slow burn that progressed between each of the other chapters. Over time, Dr. Goncalves convinced each of them to join the cult of Yig, before they realized the cult's true final goal, so that was fun. The mafia bits were cool but there were too many characters here with not a lot of screen time each, this could have been edited down easily. The mosquito warehouse was a hit, though, ending with them all blowing it sky-high with a well placed shot to a box of dynamite.
Chapter 3: North Borneo
This chapter was a delight from the very beginning. The opening scene with the byakee attacking the plane was one of the most exciting memorable encounters we've ever had in a TTRPG. The rest of the chapter was fairly linear and followed the book but there were still a lot of great scenes. It ended with the players too afraid to waste time trying to save anybody from the haftorang device's blast, so they saved nobody, and lost a fair bit of sanity from that. Additionally, all were infected with the Yellow Death, so all were hybridized at the end of chapter.
Chapter 4: Oklahoma
This is where our story started diverging more from the book. As Tyrannish escaped from Caduceus, she noticed that the players were all hybridized. In Oklahoma, we had fun scenes, ending with the players accidentally Calling an avatar of Yig in the cave after killing the sheriff. The avatar bit one of the characters, "killing" him instantly (but with 30 luck). However, Tyrannish had been keeping an eye on them, as she wanted to see how Caduceus's hybridization methods worked. When everyone else was gone, she made a gate in front of the "dead" player, stabilized him with mythos magic, noted how his transformation progressed after receiving a major injury, and then left.
Tyrannish came back in NYC a few days later as a woman she consumed, and there she became a more active presence in the characters' story, telling them that she wanted to stop the war (not telling them how, yet) and needing the cobra crown to do it, and the players were expected to pretend to be good cultists of Yig while they gathered intel at HQ.
I also put the mosquito warehouse encounter here, which made the players very angry at Caduceus, though most believed that the Cult of Yig was still good, but there was just an extremist faction within.
Chapter 5: Iceland
This chapter was awesome. A great dungeon crawl, frightening enemies, cool and crazy technology, and finally they learned the truth about Caduceus. The players all LOVED the transport spheres. One of the players tried pulling a braincase out of the braincase network, failing miserably, which allowed that brains' owner to enter her mind as a "dark passenger" that possess her every time she had a bout of madness. This dark passenger was none other than Tyrannish's assistant sorcerer from 10,000 years ago, locked in a braincase as they were valued by the Inner Night for their intellect. Ultimately they all took the transport spheres out of the volcano, but as the collosal voormi started moving, half of them had a bout of madness and they all scattered to different parts of the world, ran out of fuel, and had to find their way back home.
After getting back from iceland, they found their way to the Gate room after moving the mafia's bombs to Meadham's office and basement.
Chapter 6: Belgian Congo
Another great chapter with a short dungeon crawl at the end. I played the cryptozoologist as a bit nutty, very excited about the players who had grown scales. She helped the players to the pyramid, along the way they managed to get 3 crowns, controlling 3 t-rexes (one may have gotten eaten by his own T-Rex after a couple consecutive crit fails). Here they also got their consequence for betraying Yig, who sent thousands of poisonous snakes after them, chasing them deeper into the jungle. The twist of all their former friends being enslaved as a method of tying up loose ends was a great one, and it enraged all of the players, solidifying their stance of "burn it all to the ground." The chapter ended with the cryptozoologist crit succeeding her power check against one of the T-rex's when putting on the crown, bonding them permanently and lovingly. Meanwhile, the players set off a nuclear explosion within the pyramid, destroying the whole structure.
Chapter 7: Calcutta
This was my least favorite chapter, as it was very complex keeping track of all the NPC's, clues, etc, much of which seemed fairly irrelevant. To me it seemed if they caught the treasure hunter in the first chase immediately at the start of the chapter, he would just tell them where the cobra crown is, making 75% of the chapter pointless?
So instead, Tyrannish agreed to make a gate to Calcutta for them, but she would stay behind and meditate to prepare a more powerful gate that would bring them to Mu after finding the crown. She taught them a simple spell to beacon her when they found it, warning them not to try it on themselves, as otherwise it'll drill itself into their brains as a trap. I had them do a bit more investigation around the city, tracking the factions in play, so they could figure out which hotel to go to in order to start the chase sequence. They killed Meadham and his goonies in an epic battle in a hotel lobby, found their haftorang device and serpent sceptor, and after another session or two finally found the treasure hunter that led them to the cobra crown. They beaconed Tyrannish, and gave her both the crown and the sceptor, and she climbed up the nearest building to prepare the gate to Mu.
I had the gate take a while to form, though. Meanwhile, from the effects of the spell, Rose Meadham realized where they were, and rode on a formless spawn charging through the middle of Calcutta to get to them before the spell was complete. There was an epic battle with 3 formless spawn and Rose trying to take the crown from Tyrannish's head as she was concentrating on keeping the gate open. Ultimately Rose got the crown and pulled one of the Lloigor out from the gate before the players managed to shoot her down. With her dying breath, Rose prayed for Tsathoggua to save her, who opened a gate to his lair for her to fall into. A quick thinking player immediately pulled out the haftorang device, put the timer on for 5 seconds, and threw it into Tsathoggua's gate right in front of his face just as it was closing, obliterating him and Rose once and for all.
This led to an interesting moment, where I wasn't sure what to do about the next chapter, Snake Island. I had read through it and honestly did not love it, it seemed to grind the action to a screeching halt, and even the book suggests to basically skip it if desired.
So I gave a tough choice to the players. Tyrannish's power was not strong enough to fully open the gate to Mu. However, through the power of the serpent sceptor, they could donate POW to her permanently to get her there. In total she needed 100 POW donated between the six players. They agreed, powering her up to god-like status, and she was able to stabilize the gate, letting them through.
Chapter 9: Mu
I had mixed feelings about this chapter. It felt much more linear than the other chapters, and they could have done a lot more with it. The players really wanted to explore Mu, expecting diverse bizarre lands, cities, and ruins, but really the book presents it as a swampy wasteland with the citadel in the center. Meh. However inside the citadel had more fun encounters, and our ending was amazing.
Since Tyrannish's "aim" wasn't great, she accidentally put them quite far from the citadel, around 15 miles. They were being hunted by elder things and shoggoths who noticed the gate, so they had to move slowly and carefully through the swamp. Some interesting encounters here but nothing mindblowing. After several hours of hiking, they heard the loud crack of another gate open, far closer to the citadel than they were, and within the hour the citadel was brought back to their reality. Dr Goncalves was still alive, and upon learning what happened in Calcutta, convinced the cult of yig to enter Mu and capture the citadel.
The elder things and shoggoths raced to the citadel, starting the battle between elder things and serpent people, leading to a strut being destroyed and the whole structure phasing in and out of reality. The battlefield scene was cool but ended with them taking little to no damage.
Inside the citadel was a lot more fun than the swamp though still very linear. As soon as they entered, they were taunted over the intercom by Dr. G., who revealed Tyrannish's true intention and tried to get them to rejoin the cult of yig one more time, revealing he took a friend of theirs hostage for a ritual to summon Yig.
There were fun moments of Tyrannish showing them around the citadel, with her continuously being depressed by the state of the structure and the serpent people living inside. Near the end, at the repair room, the players all agreed to become full serpent people, cementing their bond with her, making her very happy and confident.
Here I split up the temple of yig and the control room, into totally separate sections of the buildling. Tyrannish wanted to go right for the control room, but the players convinced her to help them with Dr. G first. They stopped Dr. G, but one of the players was still VERY mad, and forced Dr. G to drink snake venom, completing the Call Yig spell in doing so. This triggered the final battle with a primal version of Yig, who the players obliterated within just a few rounds.
Tyrannish immediately raced to the control room and started the sequence to convert the biomechanical flies to hybridize, instead of enslave, while also trying to fix the citadel's phasing issue. At this point, one of the players private messaged me revealing their own final plot twist -- they deduced Tyrannish's plan months ago and had been working out a way to stop her at the last moment. He previously happened to gain Insane Augmented Engineering, which he rolled and passed to, while Tyrannish was busy on fixing the machines, switch some of the wires in the control room to force it to reverse the polarity of the hybridization serum, making the insects convert all serpent people they bit to humans, instead of all humans turning into serpent people.
Tyrannish then released the insects out into Mu and through the Caduceus's gate back to earth, all the while biting every creature nearby, including herself, the players, and all the serpent people fighting the elder things. Not to mention every serpent person back on earth. To her horror, she immediately started transforming into a human. And since she was still wearing the cobra crown, and she became human, the trap within it sprung, drilling itself into her brain, killing her.
With the citadel phased back in, and the serpent people stunned from their own transformations, the elder things took their opportunity and blew the struts up, collapsing the citadel, and releasing Ghatanothoa. The players bolted towards the gate, not looking back, and shut the gate behind them. Fin.
So yes while the main content in Mu was just OK, our ending was spectacular, could not have been better.
Overall the campaign was amazing, highly recommended!

2023.03.23 09:54 Advanced_Falcon_2816 Mexican Drug Cartels Apparently Think Skilled GTA Online Players Make Great Meth Mules

I have no personal frame of reference for this opinion, but I imagine being a drug runner for the Mexican cartel (or any cartel) is loads more fun in a video game setting than in real life. The latter pays more I'm sure, but the stress, risk to life and limb, and persistent threat of jail time have me convinced to stick with legal employment. Not so for some GTA Online gamers who thought it a good idea to become meth mules.
It sounds wild (because it is), but apparently drug cartels sometimes use online multiplayer video games as a source for new blood. Back in October of last year, for example, Mexico's assistant public safety secretary, Ricardo Mejía, said a cartel recruiter purchased bus tickets for three teenagers between 11 and 14 years old.
The recruiter found the teens on Garena Free Fire, a popular online game, and offered them each $200 per week to serve as lookouts for the cartel. Authorities detained the teens before they boarded the bus, but Mejía told ABC News that other cartels have also recruited drug mules and lookouts through video games, including Call of Duty, Gears of War, and Grand Theft Auto V.
Now three months later, Forbes says it discovered that US officials have evidence showing GTA Online is also used as a recruitment tool for drug cartels.
It's not clear how long this has allegedly been going on, but according to the site, border agents stopped and inspected a Jeep Cherokee in Arizona last November and found almost 60 kilograms of methamphetamine. The driver, Alyssa Navarro, said a man named George first contacted her in GTA Online, through which they got to know each other over time.
Those in-game chats later pivoted over to Snapchat, where George raised the idea of being a runner, albeit for electronics to be sold in Mexico. Navarro claims she was offered up to $2,000 per trip, depending on the size of the load.
The only problem for Navarro is that the cartel allegedly hid meth in the Jeep's fuel tank. Authorities have charged Navarro with conspiracy to import and sell meth, and also possession, charges for which she has pleaded not guilty.
It remains to be seen how that case will turn out. Suffice to say, though, if someone online propositions you for an offer that seems too good to be true—or is outright illegal—it's best to politely decline.

i (f18) was best friends with this guy (m18) when i was 11, in high school i moved schools and i stopped talking to everyone, but recently we have reconnected and he’s became my favourite person, it may not seem that bad but this guy has ZERO experience with women, let alone one with bpd. i feel like if i let him know about my feelings it would be too much for him and it would ruin our friendship. in past relationships i’ve always been too much and they would always end up leaving. he’s never had a girlfriend or his first kiss yet which makes me more scared if i’ll ruin the whole idea of relationships for him. he’s such a nice, sweet, funny and respectful guy who deserves a healthy relationship when he’s ready for it, and i’m afraid i won’t be able to do that, but i can’t stop thinking about him, i’m starting to dream of him every night and checking every notification to see if it’s him messaging me, i’m trying to keep it lowkey but i’m worried i won’t be able to control it and it’ll get too much for him, any advice?
