Just wondering if any recent alumni had gotten the senior portraits by Lifetouch done through the school. I assume they’re pretty expensive, but my mom is dead set on getting them. So, I just wanted to know if those who got them were satisfied with the photos they got. I would hate to pay a lot for these and get crappy pictures.
Additionally, what is the proper (Male) attire for these pictures? I was planning on wearing a white shirt and tie to go with the graduation robe. Didn’t know if I should go with a full on suit or if shirt/tie/tan pants would suffice for non-robe photos. Thanks!

Hello! I have recently had some studio portraits done that I was very happy with (did both a JCPenney/Lifetouch and a local independent photographer with a great studio). I received the digital files from both sessions and got a complimentary print from JCPenney/Lifetouch/Shutterfly. Supposedly this photo print was a $20 value. I was not thrilled with the quality of the print from Shutterfly. This was who I'd previously planned on ordering all my photos from.
I have a huge collection of older family (and my own childhood portraits) through the years and the Olan Mills Studios/school types of photos just have a different feel and look. The paper and everything. It's thick and matte and has a quality feel.
I am not knowledgeable about prints and printing so assume a bit of this is the choice of paper and also film processing vs digital printing.
What am I missing here? I don't know enough of the behind the scenes of photography. Do I need to do digital adjustments to give them more of a soft old school studio look? Is there a lab (Shutterfly, CVS. Walgreens, Walmart, Target, etc.) that has the quality/look I'm describing for children and family photo portraits? My parents and husband had the sets of photos printed as 4x6 prints (shiny and matte) at the pharmacy but they looked awful to me (especially the ones that were supposed to be super bright white). But I know that's the photo paper used for snapshots, not portraits.
Everything seems to be online and I don't know how to choose without holding a sample. My photographer didn't really answer my question when I asked who to use. My parents were super happy with the 4x6 pictures they got for a few cents each so I know some people just don't care. I've never looked into this much as since all my photos are digital not film for the past 15+ years. I look at photos on screens and don't keep a bunch of printed ones around. So maybe I'm just not as familiar with the digital photos printed.

2022.11.17 03:30 slush1000 Lifetouch school photos have a logo printed on each one.
Anyway, I will be calling their 800 number tomorrow to ask for reprints exactly as the proofs showed, without their logo being advertised on them.
Any other Saskatoon parents annoyed by this or do you think I am being too picky about the school photos? Curious about the overall opinion about this.
UPDATE: Thank you for everyone's input. As expected Lifetouch said "It is not possible to print photos without the logo" but did give me an option to return them for a refund. I am considering scanning one and sending them back for the refund. Ill edit out their logo and print some myself.
