Graduated from college last year and ever since I’ve really been struggling with coming to terms that I have ADHD. Something I didn’t realize was that since as early as the first grade, my mother and a handful of my teachers have all suspected that I may have it, but due to it having no significant impact on my studies -because of very strong internalized anxiety linked to failure and wanting to fit in as ‘normally’ as possible. But ever since I graduated from college and lost the hard structure and social pressure I forced on myself I feel like I can barely move anytime besides when I’m at work(as a server in a cafe/bar), and feel like there’s not much I can do to motivate myself to help myself get out of this rut. I’ve been pushing so many people away and just want to fall down and cry and not get out of bed some days because I feel like all I’ve done since graduate is let people down because of how much was expected of me. I’ve honestly been on kind of a downward spiral recently and my anxiety has just been kind of crippling me unless I force myself to mask at work, which I’m starting to not be able to keep up in the last few weeks.
But for the first time in months, something changed this week. Last night I was feeling really anxious and was doom scrolling through adhd memes on TwitteInstagram and watching the first episode of my favorite/comfort show(The Newsroom), one caught my eye towards the end of the show. The meme was about how ADHD’er’s crave structure and planning but only spontaneous action captures our attention, and this was right as the final line, and name of the be pilot episode, was said: “We just decided to”. Normally lines and memes like this feel empty to me, but something about the combination led me to create a list of all the things I’ve been trying to do for months to basically just progress as an adult(find a new job, doctodentist appts, get a credit card, etc), and just decided that in some small way I was going to act on it today.
Fast forward to today and for the first time in months I managed to schedule 2 general checkups, apply for a credit card, and go hangout with a friend outside of work. I know it’s small progress and not something crazy that I accomplished, but I think it’s one of the first days in a while the anxiety hasn’t felt overwhelming and I didn’t backtalk myself. I’m just laying in bed now crying, but out of happiness because I don’t think I’ve actually felt this confident or comfortable with myself in years, and I just didn’t think it had gotten this bad. I don’t know if I’ll be able to continue at this pace, but I’m going to do my best to make small progress day by day. I don’t know who, or if anybody is going to read this, but it just feels really good to get this out of my mind and written down.

This game is part of a series of games, where I am writing games for all 52 cards for a borderlands in the UK. Each one includes a story of how I imagine the game playing out. You can find all entries here.

?th Day of Sojourn
Mia left the building in triumph, and began to make her way back towards the school.
However, as she was making her way, she decided to go a different way. As she was the only winner of the game, no one would realise she was missing, they would just assume her dead.
She turned, trying to find an adequate place to stay. She thought back to the Nine of Spades, where she had found her knack for spades games. Before the borderlands she had been quite different, but with rigid training routines she was on her way to becoming the best spades player in the land, or so she liked to believe.
First Day of Exhibitions
The Unknown.
He loved the wilderness. Admittedly, there was little of it left in the UK, so he had gone to other countries in search of adventure. He had decided to return home this summer, and he had been met at the airport by his two friends. Then he awoke here, in his car, with his two friends, who had been exited for his return home.
This was his home now. The wilderness, about 7 days walk from the city. He looked up at the massive blimp above his head, the king of spades hanging down. How had the world come to this?
His life here, the past few years, had been an experience. He knew there was now no way back for him, and that death waited with the arrival of this blimp. He didn’t want to go, but this was his choice. Soon the players would be here.
Alex
She had only just made it out of the Queen of Spades game alive, and now she had agreed to play another Spades game? What was she thinking? Alex walked with the school kids to the store they had spoken about, and they kitted up with boots, 40 litre backpacks, tents, food rations, etc., splitting the duty fairly evenly. They also grabbed miscellaneous wilderness supplies, medicine, first aid, water supplies, etc.
She carefully put on the backpack with the assistance of one of the kinder of the two school kids, Tom, who explained that with this heavy a pack slinging it over your shoulder could cause back damage.
“Looks like my DofE is really coming in handy.” He joked, as the others got their packs ready. There were four of them all together, Ellis, Tom, Alex, and Flo. She hadn’t really met any of them during the first stage, but they had introduced themselves now, and they were going to have to work together if they wanted to clear the King of Spades.
Ellis checked the time on his pocket watch he had wound up and set based on a sundial the schoolboy she met, James, had made.
“It’s just after 6, we can get some walking in before camping out for the night, as two or three hors are better than none.” He said, leading them out of the shop.
They began to make their way down the street, to the desolate wasteland that lay beyond the city, a mix of forests and mountains, as far as the eye could see, a solitary King of Spades hanging in the distance.
“You aren’t going to forget about me, are you?” A voice called from behind them, and Tom turned, followed by a surprised Ellis.
“That’s… Your dead…” Tom said in confusion.
“Clearly not. Also, I’m joining you on this journey. Don’t worry, I’ll be self sufficient. It’s all packed.” Mia said, showing them her Backpack. “You should remember, my group got back first on DofE!”
“Alright. We need all the help we can get. But if you get on my nerves too much, I’ll leave you alone in the woods.” Ellis said, and they walked off.
The first hour of walking was always the worst, before everything started to fall away and you lost track of time. It was the worst part, and she trudged through the forest, over rocks, all with the group, watching their backpacks sway from side to side.
The walk continued for what felt like a while, but she knew this would be the least intensive of the days, the next few being four times as long, and likely four times as arduous. She looked at the hill towering in the distance, and knew tomorrow they would be going up it.
They arrived at the base of it, and Ellis checked the time, before deciding they would set up camp here for the night. They began unpacking, and she, Tom and Mia were assigned to setting up the tents, while Ellis would work on the fire and the food, and Flo would establish a boundary and some traps for animals, fo which Ellis gave her a book and a battery powered flashlight, as well as some of the materials needed.
Alex, Tom and Mia had put the poles together on the tents, and were beginning to thread them through the plastic fabric of the tent, as Mia began to ask her about her time in the borderlands.
She told her about her first game, the encounter with James, then the Fibonacci Gaps of the six of spades, her time with Katherine, the seven of hearts…
“Really, Ben did all that? What a sack of shit he is. Honestly, not surprised you faked your death. We found out he was bad during the ten of hearts game, but never realised quite how bad he was…” Tom said.
“What about you then, Mia?” Alex asked her, and by the time the tents were up the three of them had formed quite a good bond.
Once everything was set up for the night, they sat around the fire, eating food, telling stories, recounting their lives.
For the first time since the seven of hearts, Alex felt happy.

They settled into sleep that night, Alex in the warm embrace of a sleeping bag, the tent fluttering in the light breeze. It had been a rollercoaster of a day, but she needed to get a good nights sleep, in preparation for the next few days of hiking.
Second Day of Exhibitions
The Unknown
He took some supplies from his cool box, while sat in his cabin.
Why had he even decided to stay here? This was not how he wanted his life, and he was alone, in the wilderness, where he wanted to be, yet he still felt out of place. He didn’t want to stay in this land, but now he was stuck. He had given up his chance of returning of the old world, and now he sat there, in his self-built log cabin, waiting. He waited for his death. He knew that someone would come, and that the worst mistake of his life would come to light. He thought a definitive chance at winning was better than dying immediately, but he had been wrong. What had he done?
Tom
He awoke early that morning, next to Ellis. He checked the time, before winding up the pocket watch and unzipping the tent and stepping outside.
The world was covered by a thin layer of dew, and the air smelt fresh. He walked over to the burnt out ashes of yesterdays fire, taking a seat next to it, on a cold rock.
He thought about the day, and got ready for it, putting on his boots and preparing breakfast, before waking the others.
Unlike the evening before, they ate in relative silence, uttering the occasional word when absolutely necessary.
They packed up the tents, now talking a little more. They folded the tents carefully, while Flo checked the traps.
They had finally finished packing up, and they prepared for the day. Tom laced up his boots, and stood up, grabbing his backpack.
They set off around 7:00-7:30, beginning their trek up the hill. The hill was at a steep incline, and they walked up a winding path across the side of the hill, stabilising themselves on rocks, sliding through wet grass, mud. They spent hours on the incline, stopping for a short break about halfway up, as well as various other water stops. They were exhausted, and as the sun went under, they were almost at the summit, pushing themselves further up the hill, until they arrived.
As he finished the climb, he collapsed at the top, before looking to see how far away the King of spades now was.
He looked in horror at the mountain a little further away, towering, the King of Spades blimp hovering in the sky. Tomorrow was going to be a much more perilous and arduous trek than today, he thought, and Ellis suggested they set up camp here.
They cycled the roles this time, Ellis on traps, Alex on food, and Flo with Mia and him setting up tents.
They were now in a much more conversational mood, talking with Flo, asking her about her time in this country, explaining theirs.
They also spoke about their time before arriving here, discussing the fireworks, their arrival.
“Well, maybe it’s aliens?” Flo suggested.
“But why? That wouldn’t make any sense!” He responded, and Ellis came over, disrupting their discussion to inform them that the traps had been set up.
They gathered around todays campfire, and began to eat, talking about nothing and everything.
As their meal came to a conclusion, Ellis announced he had something for them, and went into his bag, retrieving a bottle of Alcohol.
“Let us drink! For tomorrow we may die!” He exclaimed, laughing, taking a swig from the bottle.
Flo frowned at first, but realised that underage drinking was the least of their problems at the moment. Alex passed on the drink, and so did Mia, but still, before they knew it the bottle was empty, and Ellis was fast asleep, while Tom and Flo couldn’t stop laughing.
Alex and Mia decided it would be best to get some sleep.
They settled for the night, and eventually the others stopped laughing and retreated into their tents and sleeping bags, and Alex drifted off to sleep, into into a dream.
Third Day of Exhibitions
The Unknown
He awoke on his bed, and stepped out onto the patio, smelling the early morning air, and appreciating the wildernesses beauty. He stood, his arms outstretched, and he took in all of the surroundings. The city was a way away, and from here, he could see it, I all its small nature. He walked around his cabin, grateful to be alive. He stopped however, catching sight of a plume of smoke rising from near the base of the mountain, and he went inside to grab his binoculars.
He walked back outside, looking through them, at the smoke, and what he saw confirmed his suspicions. There was a group coming to find him. How intriguing.
Mia
She awoke to someone punching the side of her tent.
“Mia! Alex! Get up, we need to get going!” Ellis shouted to them through the outside of the tent.
She got up groggily, putting on her shoes before stepping out into the dew covered meadow where they had pitched their tents. Sunlight streamed down over the top of the mountain, starting to bathe their tents in a warm glow.
Mia walked over to the fire, picking up some of the food that had been prepared, and began to eat it. She looked at the mountain, knowing about the dangerous day ahead, scaling it. At the top of the mountain a mist was starting to form, obscuring the massive King of spades, and where it was they were aiming for.
She finished eating, and then helped pack their tents up. They loaded them into their rucksacks before setting off, walking towards the mountain.
The day started with a walk on a mild incline, where Mia found herself talking to Ellis, and they talked about why they wanted to get back. Ellis told her how at first he hadn’t wanted to go back, but now, he wished he could. That was why he was challenging the King of Spades.
Mia continued her conversation, but her shoulders, arms and legs were aching, from two days of carrying so much. Later in the day, she fell behind Ellis, talking to Tom. Tom was quite nice, and despite having made it to Ben’s inner circle wasn’t totally ruthless.
They clambered over some rocks, and Tom slipped, cutting himself on a sharp edge of rock. He shouted, but insisted he was fine and could continue. They continued, Tom continuing to exhale sharply and wince every couple of steps. The walk was exhausting, but they pushed on, stopping at a larger rock for a break and some water. The sun had reached its peak in the sky, and it was boiling, so much warmer than it had been in the morning. This pace was a nightmare weather wise, and she just wanted to get back to the old world. Mia didn’t want to know why all this had happened, she just wanted to get back home.
Ellis and Flo had been talking, and so had Alex and Mia. Mia liked Alex, while this world had made her quite uncaring, she was a good person. Mia had even with her talks with Ellis almost managed to forgive him. She had heard him crying at night over everything he had done. She hadn’t told him.
They were about two thirds of the way up the mountain when it happened. They were walking along a small ridge when Tom’s leg flared up in pain. He shouted, tipping towards the edge.
“Tom!” Mia shouted, reaching out her hand to catch him. He hung from her hand, over the edge. She tried so hard to pull him up, but she couldn’t , and he just, let go.
They spent the rest of the walk in almost full silence. Mia let out a few tears for tom, but continued. In the old world this would have been a tragedy, but by now they were already so used to the death and the destruction that they just kept going.
They arrived at the top of the mountain, the King of Spades blimp flying a few 100 metres ahed, above a log cabin, surrounded by trees. They cautiously approached the cabin, and Flo felt something curl around her leg.
She let out a shout as she was hoisted into the tree by her foot. They looked around, and they heard the door of the cabin door opening.
A man walked out, and towards the trap. He cut Flo out of it, and introduced himself.
“Hello. Welcome to Come Seek. Difficulty: King of Spades. Rules: Make it here, to this cabin, and Back, without dying. Don’t worry, I won’t interfere. Now, I’ve finished the rules, so come in, and you can restock and prepare for your return to the city.”
“What? You mean all we have to do is walk back?” Mia asked, as Flo stood up.
“Yes. It’s that simple.” The King said, walking back towards the Cabin. “You know, I built this cabin myself. Away from people, to avoid them, but now I’ve come to regret my choice of staying. When it is your turn, I hope you don’t make the same mistake I did.”
He walked away before the others could ask him anything, only stopping to turn back for one thing.
“You might want to go and see the Jack of Clubs after you finish my game.”
They were confused by his comment, but brushed it off, and they walked into the cabin, refilling their packs for the next three hard days of walking back to the city.
Mia wasn’t sure what to think about the King. He certainly wasn’t what she was expecting.
They Slept in the cabin that night, using the insulation and heat that it provided.
The King didn’t return.
Fourth Day of Exhibitions
They awoke in the cabin the next day, the King still absent. Ellis told them it would likely be a good idea to get going again, and Flo grabbed a little food from the fridge in the cabin, offering a little to everyone. They ate in silence, still fazed by Tom’s death and the strange nature of the King. They began to pack up again, rolling up mats, putting their sleeping bags away.
They opened the cabin door, ready to depart. The day had broken recently, and sunlight streamed over the horizon, and the ground was littered with dew. The day was still quite cold, but by the time they started moving and the sun rose in the sky it would be unbearably hot.
The straps of their backpacks rubbed against their shoulders as they walked, and their arms and legs ached, but Mia was preoccupied.
The King had been so different from what she had expected, and she began discussing it with Alex, one of the two of them that had met another citizen. Alex told her how she too had been caught off guard by the king. She had expected that if the game was as he explained he would be tracking them, and trying to stop them, but he had told them he wouldn’t, and seeing as this was spades, meant it was unlikely he was lying.
They continued down the mountain, over rocks, along the path they had walked previously, the grass still flattened from their walk the day before. They retraced their steps, and Mia stopped briefly when she saw the mangled shape of Tom on the rocks below. She forced herself on, but she could feel the off-putting effect it had had on the others. They took a different path once they got down, so they wouldn’t have to go past Tom’s corpse.
After a while of walking they arrived at the previous campsite, their past fire’s ashes on the floor, surrounded by rocks, and They remembered how carefree they had been that night, before it had truly kicked off.
They set up for the night, putting up their tents.
There was no large campfire, no happiness, they simply went to sleep.
Or tried to.
Mia had difficulty trying to get the image of Tom out of her head, and it took a little before she could close her eyes without seeing him.
Over the past few days the walking had become less and less noticeable, as she was getting better and better at zoning out while doing it. The start was always hard, but by the time the sun truly rose the day passed quickly.
This world had changed her so much, and she wasn’t even sure of who she was anymore. She used to be so different, and now she was trekking through the wilderness for her own life.
She managed to fall asleep, but the night was rough.
She awoke in the night after seeing Tom fall from the cliff again. She got up and left the tent, making sure not to wake her tent-mate. She sat around the embers of the fire, and was joined a few moments later by Alex.
“Hey.” Alex said.
“Hey.” Mia replied, poking the fire with a stick.
“Couldn’t sleep?”
“Yeah.”
“Tom?”
“Yeah.”
“Look, Im not going to pretend I know what to say here, but we’ll work through it, ok? So far, all I’ve seen from you is strength, and I’m sure you can work through it.”
“Thanks.”
“Well, you might want to get some sleep.”
Alex returned to the tent, and soon Mia followed her. She didn’t want to be sleepy tomorrow. She wanted to get back to the city as quickly as possible, and she couldn’t afford to be below standard due to lack of sleep.
Fifth Day of Exhibitions
Flo woke up first that morning, getting out of her tent, hitting the sides of the others tents to get them up. She got out some food as the others were still waking, before giving each of them some. She had already taken her tent down by the time Ellis left his tent, and they were sat around as he finished his food.
“I’ve had a thought.” He said, looking at them.
“What?” Flo asked, intrigued.
“We’ve been quite slow these past few days, we could get back faster if we ditched the packs.” Ellis said.
“What!?” They said to him, almost in unison.
“Well, judging by the distance and our pace, we do about 13-18 Km a day. Most of you here are quite good runners, and I can do 20 Km in a few hours. It’ll be hard, but its definitely possible and we would make it before the end of today.” He explained.
“Since when did you become good at maths?” Mia said, teasing him. “But seriously, that’s not a bad idea, although we have to be sure we’ll make it, being out in this wilderness without protection is not something I want to do.”
“Are both of you crazy?” Flo said.
“I’d like to get back to the city as fast as possible, I definitely think it’s worth a try.” Alex said.
“Fine” Flo agreed, and they didn’t bother packing up their tents. They reached grabbed some water, and began jogging down the hill.
The hill was the hardest part of the run, staying at a steady pace while maintaining balance and going down it was difficult, but soon they were at the bottom.
Their arms ached, and their lungs were bursting, but they continued into the forest, running past various places they had seen before, and they stopped for a serious break about halfway back.
A few of them were gasping for breath, and they drank a lot of their water.
They pushed on though, running past their campsite, through the trees, and onwards.
The sun began to grow lower in the sky, and what they estimated was around five, they finally broke through the last barrier of trees, and stepped out onto the tarmac road of the city, dripping in sweat, bent over, out of breath.
They quickly drank the rest of their water, before going to find a place to sleep, more water, and food.
The four of them were tired, and eventually they holed themselves up inside a detached house on the outskirts of town.
There was no edible food in the house, but they did find water. They drank almost all of it, and they settled down as evening set in. Mia managed to find a set of cards, and suggested they play a game.
“Like a card game, obviously…” Before laughing nervously.
They began to play, as Mia explained the rules.
They were having fun, almost forgetting the nature of the place they were in, getting engrossed in their free time activity.
Their illusion of safety was broken by the voice announcing that the King of Spades had been defeated, and that Alex, Ellis, Flo and Mia had gained 13 days on their Visas.
They all looked at each moment, before returning to their game, trying to go back to their earlier state of ignorance.
After a couple of rounds, they went to sleep, now knowing they were safe for another few days.
Sixth Day of Exhibitions
They awoke at a normal time, and Flo was grateful to have been able to sleep in a proper bed. She looked around the room she was in, wondering what had happened to the people who had once lived here, and the old world.
She was saddened by the thought it might not be possible to go back, and they simply might be forced to stay here and become citizens. Who knew.
She got up, seeing no-one else had gotten up yet, and seeing the place, decided she was done with what she had aimed to do. She had beaten the King, and now she had no reason to stay here. She looked at the two blimps left, the King of hearts, and the Jack of Clubs, and the King of Hearts. The Fact that it still hung in the sky, meant it was unlikely that her friends were left alive. She looked down sadly. She was the last performer. The last of a group almost 30 big. She walked over to it.
If Alfie, Tracy and Roger couldn’t clear it, she would in their memory.
When Ellis awoke, he looked around the house, seeing if anyone else had woken yet. He spotted Flo’s empty bed, and didn’t fault her for leaving.
He looked out the window, seeing the only other remaining games being the Jack of Clubs and the King of hearts.
After Alex and Mia got up, he called them down to tell them he wanted to see what the Jack of Clubs was about. Not to play it, just see what the King meant by seeing the Jack of Clubs after his game.
They agreed, and they walked over to the castle, above which the Jack of Clubs blimp hung, spotting two familiar figures waiting fro them at the gates.
TL,DR: get to the Kings blimp, and back to the city without dying. There is no time limit, other than visa.

Episode 1: Charlie drinks 3 Coors tallboys and 3 Heineken lager tallboys.
Episode 2: The beer that Jed drinks on the roof and hands to Charlie when they talk is Shiner Bock.
Episode 3: Taffy and George drink Iron Spur beer, which is a fictional brand of beer created for the show. Taffy slipped sleeping pills into George's beer, and then washed out the bottle.
Episode 4: Gavin comes to party with the band and offers them a bottle of Darwingtent's Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey (I think!) which appears to be another fictional brand.
Episode 5: While in Irene and Joyce's room, Charlie drinks Baylin Lager (a fictional beer) while they confess their crimes to her.
Episode 6: Phil says he keeps Jack Daniels in his thermos. Charlie supplies Ava with bottomless wine, but I was unable to identify the brand. When Charlie meets with Phil, they are drinking Wuhlstock whiskey, (or Muhlstock, it is hard to tell), which I believe is another fictional brand of alcohol.
Episode 7: Davis drinks Baylin Lager (again) on the couch to decompress after losing to Kyle's daughter, Katy.
Episode 8: Arthur is drinking a Straight Rye Whiskey to grieve the death of Max and he offers the bottle to Charlie.
Episode 9: Trey's favorite coconut rum is called ___ Gordita Rum. The first word ends in "co," I feel like it might be Loco Gordita Rum, but I am not sure and I believe it is another fictional brand.
Episode 10: In the casino, I believe that the beer Charlie was drinking when talking to Sterling, as well as the beer she drank on Cliff's boat, is another fictional beer called Gadwick Lager.
Let me know if any of these are actually real, or if I missed anything. All in all, this was pretty fun and I thought it was cool!

Tl;dr: I got (rightfully) down/upset about my girlfriend's actions today. She played the victim (imo) and made me feel like I should feel bad for feeling bad. It is not the first time she has done it.

Brief background: We have been together since end of 2022 and things are usually great. We tend to have a very open and solid communication (we kinda make it the foundation of our relationship). It is very important for us to express to each other how we feel about situations, with full honesty and transparency. I'm finishing my education in Psychology so the vast majority of the time i'm very empathetic about everything and she tells me that a lot. She has grown up with a lot of conflict with her parents and, thus, tends to have defensiveness as a go-to response to stuff sometimes. All in all, however, it is a very positive and fulfilled relationship so far.

The problem: Today I woke up late for class because last night I was applying some tests on a patient and it went on until past midnight. I'm usually late to every class and it has started to affect my attendance and therefore my passing of the subject. She got very upset at that, and when we went for lunch (super quickly) today, she scolded me quite directly. Nevertheless, I fully feel like i deserve whatever she told me. Her opinion matters a lot and i felt it as harsh words coming from love.
The rest of the day, we have class until evening. She has an exam so she doesnt reply for many hours; then, she went to some friends house to chill for a bit with her group. She replied very little for most of the day and when she did, it was 2 or 3 very dry words.
I'm fine with not getting replies the entire day but I feel that when it has been a rough day for me, it only makes me feel more sad and alone when she basically shows no interest in talking for the entire day.
Fast forward to 1am where she's finally home and calls me. I'm visibly upset and we have a conversation about everything. I express to her SO many times that im NOT upset that she scolded me and i agree with her, but i just felt sad all day because of the nature of how our conversation for the rest of the day. (btw at no point did i complain or say anything - i was just very quiet after she clearly had no intentions of conversing all day).
She apologizes for being harsh and tries to make me feel better. Until there, all good. I was still upset but i told her i'd feel better in the morning and we hung up cause her sister was about to sleep.
She texts me right after the call and tells me that she is hurt about how i reacted to everything. I ask her to elaborate. after, listening and replying, i remind her that im not upset about her scolding, just about the rest. She seems to not register this because one thing leads to another and she is now very upset. She starts saying things like "what i say isnt worth shit i guess" and "i guess im gonna the bad ex-girlfriend who never tried to help".
Essentially, everything was fine until i had the feeling like i was now supposed to be apologizing for feeling bad.

This isnt the first time it happens. In the past she has done the same thing multiple times (me VALIDLY expressing being upset, and somehow it ends in me apologizing for one thing or another).
Last time she even recognized it and apologized herself. This time i told her she was trying to be a victim (something she has told me a few times in the past) and she got even more upset.
So am i totally out of place or do i have the right to be upset and not have the focus shift on her every single time im upset about something? I used to give into it because I couldn't see clear but the more often it happens, the more it hurts.

I'm now job hunting but find myself being accepted into another internship, this time in the Public Relation field. Pay is below 1k and it's a typical 9 - 6 job. The offer is only valid for three days (including today)
It got me wondering if I should ditch the opportunity and look for a full-time role instead though I know it going to be harder, especially with how things are now and with how I don't have the most extensive internship or job experience.
TL;DR : Should I ditch the internship opportunity to find a full-time job despite it being a harder process and possibly facing an uphill battle?

(Wishing everyone luck with all the text!) Lemme know what you think! Tl:dr Loid is injured but is still being targeted by an assassin from Garden. Fiona and Yor step up (separately) to keep him safe.
The episode begins in an inpatient room at the Berlint General Hospital where Loid is sitting up in bed staring at the ceiling. Internally he combs through the events of the last few hours in an attempt at understanding what occurred. He remembers stumbling in the hallway due to the effects of the poison, but doesn’t recall anything between that moment and when he regained consciousness with Anya and Yor. The memory of waking up to them both anxiously kneeling around him lingers in his mind. As he lies in thought, Fiona enters the room followed closely by Sylvia, who has disguised herself as a doctor at the hospital. Sylvia asks Twilight how he is feeling and he tells her he is alright, but is worried about the state of the mission considering what has happened. Sylvia tells him she is already trying to find ways to probe into the poisoning without arousing too much suspicion. Fiona mentions that she will have the opportunity to question the nurse that delivered the tainted wine to Twilight soon and Sylvia encourages her to remain discrete as she does so. Sylvia states that the attack does not seem to fit what they would expect from the SSS, believing that if they knew who Twilight was, they would be highly motivated to capture and make an example of him rather than carry out a silent execution. This leads her to believe the assassin is working under more covert leadership and with more obscure motives. There is a pause in the conversation before Sylvia, speaking to both Twilight and Nightfall, says that the continued anonymity of the assassin puts Operation Strix in immediate danger of collapsing. She says that uncovering why Twilight was targeted and by whom is now one of their highest priority tasks, to which they both agree. Before she leaves, Sylvia tells Twilight to spend the night at the hospital to recover, to both make defending him easier for her operatives and to not needlessly endanger his cover with Anya and Yor. Fiona internally notes that she would protect Twilight if he chose to stay at the hospital indefinitely. As Sylvia begins to leave, Twilight states that an agent should be assigned to watch his apartment, in case the assassin tries a second, more direct attempt. She tells him she has already sent someone over to watch from the street and leaves the inpatient room with Fiona.
Back at the apartment, Yor greets Franky at the door. As he enters, he notices Anya sitting with Bond by the coffee table and he calls out to her in a gentle manner, asking how she is doing. She replies that she is being brave like chichi and haha, which fills Yor with guilt. As Franky walks over to play with Anya, Yor reflects on the symptoms she observed from Loid when he collapsed, which mirror the effects of a poison she is regularly provided with by Garden for her assassinations. She wonders if the shopkeeper would ever consider Loid a threat, but shakes this thought away, acknowledging that Loid is an extremely upstanding member of Berlint society, with no reason to be a target of her organization. As she thinks, Yor watches Franky play with Anya. At the sight of Anya playing alongside Bond and Franky, Yor gets a determined expression on her face. Anya picks up on the thought Yor is having and turns to her and asks if she would play with them. Yor walks over to Anya and gives her a hug before she tells her she will play later that night, but wants first to visit Loid in the hospital. Anya, knowing this is a lie, is concerned and Franky tells Yor that Loid will be home the next day. Yor insists, saying it will help put her worries to rest seeing him in person and Franky understandably agrees. Anya, still unconvinced, watches as Yor grabs her bag and coat and heads out into the night.
At the hospital, Nightfall and Twilight have a conversation as the inpatient wing transitions into the night shift. Nightfall mentions that there are significantly less personnel in this wing at this time, but she and few other WISE agents will be present and patrolling to prevent any further attempts on his life. As a failsafe means of alerting Twilight to any danger, Nightfall suggests a simple three-knock code, which she can employ if she believes he is threatened and needs to respond. He agrees and Nightfall nods before heading out into the hospital corridors.
Yor arrives at a door and knocks a few times. After a moment, the door opens to reveal the shopkeeper with his hair up and wearing what appears to be a large white linen shirt. He contentedly invites Yor inside, asking her why she is visiting his shop so late and she hesitates to answer. There is a moment of silence before Yor, in a slightly nervous but measured tone, asks the shopkeeper about the origin of the poison he provides her. He appears slightly surprised by the question but does not hesitate to answer. He tells her it is similar to another, more widely known but weaker poison, which is also derived from the same plant. However this particular variation comes from flowers only found in the northern mountains of Ostania. He amusedly notes that it is appropriate that their targets are killed with this poison, as it represents something uniquely and beautifully Ostanian. Yor asks if the shopkeeper is the only one who knows about the mountain flower’s properties, and he pauses before answering. After a moment he asks her again why she came. Yor is nervous, but internally decides that she has nothing to hide from the shopkeeper regarding her intentions and tells him about Loid. The shopkeeper is silent as he listens and when Yor finishes he stares at her stoically before replying. He tells her the flower is not his exclusively, rather that it is open to anyone strong and clever enough to find it. He pauses and then asks her why she is concerned with Loid’s well-being. Yor confidently tells him her marriage has been extremely beneficial in dispelling any suspicion surrounding her and has given her the ability to continue working without fear, but he seems unconvinced. He tells her that distance is what she should prioritize now. If an assassin that has access to the flower is targeting Loid, it is better to allow them to finish their work than risk her identity becoming revealed trying to intervene. He adds that one of the only covers stronger than a wife is a widow. Yor is silent for a moment and then thanks the shopkeeper for his guidance and bids him goodnight. He watches her leave the shop with a solemn expression.
Back at the hospital, Fiona is silently patrolling the hospital wing. Internally she thinks about Twilight sleeping alone in his recovery room and wonders how he is feeling and then reprimands herself for becoming distracted in her fantasizing. As she returns to present, she notices that the employee at the administrative desk to the recovery wing appears to be asleep in their chair. Fiona approaches cautiously, prepared to reprimand him, only to notice a small dart protruding from his chest. Immediately Nightfall dives to the hospital floor as another dart flies just over her head, ricocheting off of the admin desk. She spins and lunges behind her at a man wearing a lab coat and holding what appears to be a small pistol, knocking it from his hand while throwing a punch that lands in his stomach. He recovers and a one-on-one fight ensues in which Fiona finds that the man is extremely talented at hand-to-hand combat. She barely manages to maintain the upper hand until a mutual kick lands him beside his dropped pistol and her back beside the front desk. Without hesitating, he springs for the pistol while she grabs the previously-fired dart that missed off of the ground. As he rises to shoot her, Nightfall whips around and throws the dart back at the man with the intention of incapacitating him with its contents. There is a brief moment where both fighters assess what just occurred: Nightfall and the man both look down and notice darts stuck in their chests. Already Nightfall begins to feel woozy but as she succumbs, she watches the man casually pull the dart from himself and drop it on the floor, storing away his pistol in the process. Frantically Nightfall thinks of Twilight and a way to warn him. Without the strength to pound the ground loud enough to deliver her signal, she believes that she has failed. As the man passes by her, Nightfall grabs his coat with the last of her strength, only to have the man turn and deliver a brutal kick which knocks her unconscious.
The man walks down the halls of the recovery wing, silently looking at each room number before stopping outside of Loid’s room. He enters quietly and sees Loid sleeping in his bed. He walks over to Loid’s IV bag and injects a clear liquid inside. Once he is finished, he leaves the room wordlessly. As he walks back out through the hospital wing, he passes by the incapacitated Nightfall and administrator without pausing to acknowledge either.
In his medical disguise, the man has no issue leaving the hospital without question and once outside he begins to head through the parking garage. Suddenly when he is halfway through the garage, he pauses and stops to turn around. Standing behind him, clearly prepared for a fight, is Yor. Without hesitation, he quickly draws his pistol and fires a handful of darts at her, but she easily avoids them, slashing the last one out of the air with one of her knives. Recognizing the futility of direct combat, the man shoots out the lights of the garage as Yor charges at him, completely plunging the area into darkness. Yor slashes where the man was but he has already moved. Without warning, she is attacked from another angle and cannot respond quick enough. The man lands a number of hits on Yor that she is unable to counter or respond to. She internally pushes herself to devise of a way to locate the man and suddenly has the idea to drag one of her knives along the ground to create sparks. She does this just as the man is attempting to attack her again, but the faint light of the spark gives her the ability to dodge and counter back. Now with a method of fighting in the pitch black, Yor attacks the man head on, simultaneously slashing either one of her knives along the ground to create enough light to keep him visible while stabbing at him with the other. This is a clear turning point in the fight and Yor has the man on his heels, unable to respond. As he goes for a high punch, Yor slips underneath his arm and plunges one of her knives into his chest. The man’s shoulders drop, but he grabs Yor to pull her close and begins to say something to her. Before he can, Yor (uncharacteristically) twists the knife in his chest and he lets out a painful groan. Before he dies, the man looks Yor in the face and says “…He was only a man…our purpose persists”.
Yor pitilessly pulls her knife from the man’s chest and he falls to the ground. She only stares down at him for a moment before turning and running to the hospital entrance, taking care to wipe any obvious blood from her face or hands. She enters quickly and rushes to the recovery wing.
As she runs down the hallway to the front desk, she sees Loid kneeling down beside Fiona. Yor calls out to him and he turns surprised and flustered to see her. She asks nervously if Fiona is ok and he tells her she appears to only be unconscious. Yor asks what happened and Loid says he isn’t sure but believes someone entered the hospital with the intention of hurting him or someone else. Internally Loid reveals that he was able to identify the assassin in his room because Nightfall left three small but noticeable red dots on the back of his lab coat, a visual representation of their danger signal. Before any of the poison from the IV could make it to him, he had already removed the needle. Both Loid and Yor stand up and Loid tells her he is going to find some hospital personnel to help care for Fiona and the administrator. Yor, unable to contain her emotion at knowing Loid and Anya are safe, leans in to embrace Loid as he starts to leave, and although he is initially surprised, he quickly embraces her back. After a brief moment, they let go of each other and Loid runs off to find help. The episode ends watching Loid leave from Yor’s perspective, which slowly pans down to show a small amount of blood still smeared on the inside of her hand.

I love the show and enjoy it a ton on youtube. I’ve had a curiosity stream subscription in the past but I used it very little once I watched what I wanted (I don’t regret it though). I don’t have the time to listen to the podcast and the behind the scenes, but if I was interested I would consider subscribing again. The price is cheap and for many not prohibitive, but 12-15$ are always 12-15$. Personally, doing the subscription for being able to finish the series one week in advance or being able to watch, once per season, two episodes is a weak incentive for me. I would though, without a doubt, make a subscription if a full season was released, heck, I’d pay 10$ every season to just be able to binge it all in one session.

Okay quick confession: I’ve never actually listened to a season of TAZ. I tried with the first few episodes of Balance, but by then I was already so burned out on MBMBaM (like, 2 or 3 eps a day for a few months) that it didn’t draw me in.
Anyway, I figured I’d have a look and see how long it’s been since the last time I listened to an episode of MBMBaM. According to Spotify, I stopped listening weekly halfway through Episode 529: Throw Me in the Dumpster Behind the Applebee’s When I Die, released on September 30 2020. From there, I’d occasionally listen to a minute or two before bailing and made it all the way through Episodes 553, 554, and 564 before giving up altogether the following week, in June 2021.
0:00 – MaxFunDrive ad read by Justin is basically “I’m not gonna waste my time or yours trying to explain why you should support MaxFun, just give us your money!” and honestly, I love laziness disguised as frankness.
0:44 – I feel like they would have quietly removed the “Travis insists he’s a ‘sexpert’” line a while back but they left it too late and now there’ve been enough weird Travis Moments that it’d make people assume something scandalous was about to surface if they changed it.
1:02 – My music tastes are a little eclectic but mostly pretty basic, with a big emphasis on upbeat alt and indie pop, so I should enjoy the Montaigne song, but nope! At least I never liked the old one much, so it’s not a downgrade.
[Obligatory semi-relevant anecdote: I took a solo trip to Melbourne a couple of weeks ago as a little birthday present to myself, both to visit some friends and to go see Carly Rae Jepsen in concert, since she wasn’t coming here to New Zealand on her tour. Probably the best concert I’ve ever been to!]

2:10 – Okay it’s a “we have to raise enough money to save the podcast from being demolished by the local billionaire” joke. And he’s called Dr Guhart (sp?). Fine. I know that premise has been a touchstone of Western pop culture for decades, but I wonder how much longer it can last. Are younger Gen Z kids making jokes about having to win a ski race to save the rec centre? What’s the modern equivalent? Make a GoFundMe that’s immediately drowned out by all the cancer patients? Camp out in the replies of MrBeast’s tweets trying to convince him to monetise your plight?
“[I]f we don’t raise a bunch of money, he’s gonna turn our podcast into a place where they grind up puppies into sausages.” Travis is really good at making his setups sound rehearsed and unnatural. I don’t need a great acting performance when someone’s doing an improv bit on a podcast, but please don’t make it sound like you cycled through every possible combination of evil act and innocent victim before landing on the one you thought sounded the most comically cruel.
2:58 – “If we raise enough money we can legally murder Dr Guhart.” Okay I like this one better.
4:00 – Not to be a killjoy or anything but Dr Phil is a) irrelevant and b) awful. I don’t need a 30-second bit about him with no punchline.
7:40 – Twee Travis comes to the table, in what I can only characterise as his 20% baby voice, with the classic “you don’t have to tweet it; you can just go back to the old-school tweets where you just whisper it to a bird and then you let the bird go and then the bird comes and finds us and whispers it to us.” I am 90% sure he’s said this exact joke (?) before and it’s never been cute or funny!!!
8:25 – Justin’s pre-question bird question feels like something they’ve already discussed several times already but I don’t know if I’m just wired to hear everything they say as derivative.
12:40 – Question 1: How do I show off my yo-yoing skills to my colleague, who introduced me to the hobby, now that he no longer yo-yos?
Seemed kinda promising at first with the stuff about Riverdance yo-yoing, but there were a couple of not-so-comical misunderstandings between the three of them. Justin makes a reference to 'nipple-height as a shorthand for the exact thing they're all talking about and Griffin assumes he's being suggestive for no reason.
16:54 – Question 2: Can I sit in front of the CostCo TVs and just watch an entire movie? Is there anything wrong with treating CostCo as a low-cost movie theatre?
Being repetitive is the most unavoidable of the podcasting sins, but it’s wild to come back to MBMBaM and hear that the questions are still “I want to do a slightly weird thing in public. Am I good?” and Griffin’s immediate response is still “There’s nothing stopping you except the unspoken social bond of our shared humanity.”
24:30 – Ahhhhhhh Travis is trying to sell me on their bonus content. He starts with the $5 level and then passes over to Justin, who was not listening closely enough to know what had and had not already been covered. Never change!
27:27 – They make a joke about how the unedited naming ep stretch goal is worse than seeing how the sausage gets made but they don’t even call back to Travis’ stupid puppy sausage bit. Amateurs!
27:36 – At least they’re self-aware about the BYOP pizza party stretch goal being a bit shit. Not surprised to learn that it was Justin’s idea. Never change!!!
30:30 – “Brown recluse bite. Almost died. Didn’t. Can’t?” Okay this got a wry smile out of me. It’s been said time and time again on this sub, but Justin has a lot of comedic talent as soon as he bothers to put in a teensy bit of effort.
30:38 – Oh boy it’s time for my first ever Wizard of the Cloud segment.
31:10 – WikiHow to Run a Teddy School
This concept has no legs. Griffin’s angle is basically just “Isn’t this crazy??” and, I mean, yeah I guess so, but without a personal anecdote or question to latch on to there’s nothing here for me to find entertaining. From previous episode threads I feel like this is how it always goes, right? A deliberately ~wild~ WikiHow is chosen and then the brothers react to it like “damn, this is wild”.
35:42 – Travis has never seen Paddington or Paddington 2 and I hope he never does because he doesn’t deserve to.
38:55 – Justin and Travis both balk at the absurdity of expecting teddy bears to pass a toy to each other when they’re inanimate objects and Griffin rightfully points out that they’ve been talking about the concept of Teddy Bear School for several minutes now and this is an issue you probably have to make your peace with before engaging with the topic.
39:15 – They double down on this as if they don’t understand how children’s make-believe works. Yes, you’re going to have to physically move the bears yourself! The WikiHow writer is playing in the fictional space of Teddy Bear School. Are they seriously expecting the article to read “using your hands, manipulate the bears’ bodies and limbs to simulate the actions of walking, talking, eating, and playing”?
Griffin concedes the point because he wants this to be over. I don’t concede but I agree that we need to get out of this comedy black hole.
40:19 – Question 3: How can I eat soup powerfully during my lunch hour instead of looking like a peasant? (??????????????????)
Yeah baybeee! This is the MBMBaM content I crave! I love these cart-before-the-horse questions, where you can tell the listener started with the desire to submit a question – any question – and then scrambled to contrive a problem in their life that they could shape into this high-calorie, low-nutrition comedy slop.
It’s a food question, so it’s guaranteed to get a little bit of interest from Justin. The premise is vague enough that it’s easy for Travis to interject with something irrelevant and uninteresting in the name of being wacky. It’s a social dilemma that isn’t really a dilemma at all, so they can hopefully tie it up at the end by gently letting the listener know that they don’t have real problems.
Justin starts off in a strange direction by suggesting that the only way to eat soup powerfully is to eat it quickly, like a starving runaway taken in by a kindly stranger, which is so clearly incorrect it’s making my head spin. If we’re really gonna try and psychoanalyse the power dynamics of eating, I'd say that wolfing down your food signals a sense of desperation, or perhaps a fear that someone will come and take the food away. That’s peak Dickensian peasant! Eating food slowly suggests a) that you’re really enjoying it and b) that you have all the time in the world. You’re in no rush! Everything’s under control and you’re free to savour your delicious veggie soup. You didn’t just make it because it’s easy and it fits with your restrictive diet: veggie soup is your favourite.
42:25 – Travis has a bad idea about eating soup from a tumbler labelled with a soup-related title, e.g. 'Soup Doctor, PhD'. Griffin riffs on this with the mildly funny idea of having “Caught ya looking!” written on the bottom of a soup bowl for when you slurp up the last of it, but Travis ruins it by suggesting that you instead put a picture of you with another soup bowl and a different message on that bowl (he doesn’t provide an example of a funny message). It’s like they’re playing tennis but Travis has a little bit of poop on his racquet.
“Have someone else feed the soup to you” is a decent Travis answer which he then ruins with the pointless addition of a narrative where the listener saved that person’s life in the war.
46:19: Title drop! ‘Travis’s Fast Soup Cup For Boys’ would have made me laugh in 2019. Now it just blurs together with everything else.
47:20 – More MaxFun stuff. I’m kinda tempted by the MaxFun recipe book, for jerking purposes.
51:27 – Least surprising segue into Munch Squad ever. Apparently, this is the first in a while, so it better be a good one!
52:06 – Chipotle has added Chicken Al Pastor to menus worldwide. Cool. We don’t have Chipotle here in New Zealand, but its reputation precedes it.
I don’t share the brothers’ discomfort with using the word ‘protein’ as a catch-all for meats/beans/quinoa/etc. in a meal description. Travis acknowledges that it’s inclusive of non-meat options but says we can come up with something better. To be honest, I don’t even think that’s why I use the term. Even setting aside vegetarian options, I think saying “chicken is my favourite protein” sounds less weird than “chicken is my favourite meat”. Maybe it’s a regional thing?
It’s very funny how much of Munch Squad is just Justin being pedantic about phrasing and word choices in a press release he’s reading for free. Oh, they said “craveable” twice? They’re implying that their Chicken Al Pastor might differ from the traditional dish? What a scoop!
55:55 – Buffalo Wild Wings has a Bed & Breakfast. Okay I looked this up and the articles I found were from March 2020 (oof). We also don’t have Buffalo Wild Wings in New Zealand.
1:00:06 – Baskin-Robbins introducing chick’n and waffles ice-cream as the March flavour of the month. Obviously, it can’t have real chicken in it, so the whole concept is terrifying, but the jokes about it are only okay. I actually had to look this one up, but we’re three for three: we do not have Baskin-Robbins here in New Zealand.
I was going to make some comment about cultural osmosis and how it’s wild that I’ve passively absorbed so much information about all these brands without ever patronising them myself, but when it comes to American cultural exports it’s more like active transport (little joke for all you cell physiology nerds out there).
1:04:15: They started talking about ‘Daniel’ and it took me a while to remember from previous episode threads that Justin has been doing a zero-effort Daniel Day-Lewis impression as a running gag lately. Luckily I’ve got him on his week off.
1:08:00 – Did not realise that they started reading random quotes from unexpected sources as an outro. I guess it’s on-brand to finish with a joke where the punchline substitutes mild surprise in place of actual comedy.
That wasn’t an awful listening experience, but if I didn’t write all this stuff down I would not remember any of it. It didn't inspire me to go back to listening weekly, but it wasn't so bad that I'd never put myself up for a recap again.

2023.03.23 08:28 julscvln01 the "7th heaven" levels of moralism, do they get any better?

I'm a first time watcher, since I've love Addison in season 3 of Grey's and I wanted to see Amelia's origin story, I decided to give this show try and I kind of liked season 1, but I'm in the middle of season 2 and I don't know how much more I can handle.
I like some characters and medical cases and I know every episode is supposed to look at an ethical issue from different standpoints, but so far an episode about abortion ended with the phrase 'a baby died today' and one about high-end sex workers who only wanted STD screenings but one of them ends-up beaten half to death by a client and then dropped as a patient by Addison, who supposed to be one of the most open minded of the bunch, if not for being classist af.
The glorification of cops also is not amazing, although Christopher from Gilmore Girls does make a couple of good points about economic inequality and classism, but that's a different story.
Is this going to stay the general message of the show or does it evolve? I can't keep screaming at my laptop.

So, since the pandemic, i have been an agoraphobic NEET. In april of 2020, i had a weed induced panic attack, and during that year i was scared that i was going to die from covid (i have ulcerative colitis, an autoimmune disease), so I had chronic anxiety that lasted till 2022. I spent all of 2022 just trying to be mindful, and i only worked a volunteer job in the early part of that year. Then, today (i am writing this past midnight, so it’s technically the next day) i went to a trivia night meetup (it was the second time that i went) and there was no spot left for me to sit with the meetup group, so i just stood there, and i feel like people would have talked to me more had i had a spot to sit with them. I also feel like i can’t relate to any of these people because of how normal they are (no trauma, able bodied, mostly nuerotypicals, not caring about politics, holding down a job, average or above average attractiveness). I mean, there was one gay man there, but someone can still be pretty normal and be gay.
It was for those reasons that i came home feeling existential dread, and i tried setting with it like dr.k said, but it never went away, so i ate some candy and then masturbated and now i just feel bored, which is better than how i felt before.
On paper the meetup seems like such a mild disappointment, but I’m starting to think that i have undiagnosed adhd, and apparently rejection sensitivity is a symptom of that, so maybe that explains the existential dread. But also i was lonely my entire life, rarely mad friends in school, and now i don’t talk to anyone i knew in high school.
ALL of the people who have been my friends had at least one of the characteristics i mentioned in the above paragraph. There was one normal guy I used to work with who had a brother with autism, and so he said he had a “soft spot for people with autism” and we got along, but he ghosted me as soon as he got another job.
It doesn’t look to me like cities are going to be more walkable in the future, it doesn’t seem to me like there is going to be more social infrastructure in the future, it doesn’t seem to me like the economy is going to get better, all i can see is me either holding down a part time job while on disability, or maybe i find a job i can do full time, but I’m still living in poverty. I want to live near a city because being alone away from the city is worse than being alone near a city, but i can’t imagine cities getting more affordable in the future. The trend seems to be people moving away from cities just because they can’t afford to live near cities. I also can only see people getting more and more lonely as technology becomes all consuming, and people only seeing human beings at work, (it is that way for a lot of people) and that was the life i lived before the pandemic.
All i can see for my life is that i get more functional, have better coping mechanisms, and i can hold down a part time or full time job but i will still be living in poverty. When i was 16, all i thought about was getting away from my parents and living in a shitty apartment and smoking weed and playing bass, but now i can’t see anything to look forward to since weed is no longer for me and i am no longer obsessed with music.
Is there anyone who is reading this who understands disability and autism and being poor?

I (29f) was an affair baby between my mom and dad. My mom was already married to my step dad and had my half- sister (32f) who’s name will be R. R has always hated me for some unknown reason. I never gave her any reasons to hate me as we grew up together she just did. Growing up I spent more time with my mom than my dad who traveled a lot due to his work but when he was in town I always took the opportunity, it was the only time I could be away from my SD and R. R would always do terrible things to me, she would destroy my things, gifts and souvenirs my dad would sent by mail would go to the trash, it was so bad that when I was going to enter HS she cut off my hair when I was sleeping and I had to get a bob hairstyle which reached my chin, my nose if styled. My mom scolded her and SD enabled her even more, patting her on the back for a good job when mom wasn’t looking.
In hs I was in a graphic design class and that’s how I met R’s one true love, at first greetings I didn’t know. I would stay after school to finish my in class assignments for that class and he would be there to use the computers to do some drawing he had saved in the computer. The computer he used was right next to mine so we sat together when I would stay. We spoke once, where he said he liked my hairstyle. I was the only girl in school with really short hair so I did stand out a bit. One day my sister came to spy on him and she was furious seeing me sitting next to him, she was so mad that when we got home she slapped me on the face accusing me of wanting to steal him. After that incident I tried to stay away from him, not wanting to deal with her craziness. Thankfully I only had to endure her for another year before she went off to college.
My first year of college my dad was diagnosed with terminal cancer and was told told he had that year (2013) to live. My mother got news and told SD and R. R in response sent me a video she took from a TV show I’ve been told was called “Shameless” where there’s a blonde girl peeing on a man’s tombstone with a text, saying, “can’t wait for that MF to (di*) be gone, have fun cleaning the mess I’m going to make.” Where she sent another pic which was poop.
I was so furious and disgusted that someone like her existed, someone who would be so happy to see someone’s life end.
My second year was rough as my dad died a few days before school started. In the end he left me with money that would help for the years to come and a few properties I rented to make extra cash.
Wondering if she did it? Yup. Sent another video for proof.
Somehow I feel karma was real at the time. A few weeks after that I ended up bumping into the guy she was obsess with (and still is) when I went to hangout with my friend who went to the same college as him. We spoke briefly until my friend came and we left. A few days after that my friend told me the guy she saw me with asked for my info and she give him my Snapchat knowing if I didn’t want to talk him she would give him an app I don’t use anymore.
I’m going to be honest when she told me this I so wanted to use him and get back at my sister knowing how much she loved him. But I know how it feels to be hurt and so I added him on Snapchat and texted him to meet me at a coffee shop. When we met at our local coffee shop I was honest with him on why I reached out and told him how crazy R is. He wasn’t surprise. He went on telling me the thing she would pull on the girls he would talk to and how she would try to sabotage his relationships when they were in hs. To her telling them they slept together while speaking or in a relationship with those girls, she was having his kid and even saying he had an STD, yeah she’s nuts.
To keep this short we stayed friends until a few months where we starting dated, we had a lot of similar hobbies, interest and we think alike. He says it’s the power of mindmeld (Star Trek) seeing how we might as well be telepathic with one another.
This year we decided to get married. Engaged for three. Our jobs pay us really well in our respective fields where we can go big on our wedding.
Now here comes in R. R sadly still stalks my fiancé. He isn’t much a social media person so he doesn’t post much but when he does it’s on his Instagram story. He recently posted a picture of my hand with the engagement ring captioning, “after three years next up the wedding ring.” And yes his Instagram is private and he has her blocked but there are a few people who tell her friends and they tell her, it can’t be helped some people live for the drama.
I don’t talk to my mom as much seeing how she wasn’t much help when my sister would bully me or when my SD belittled me but I do once a month for a few minutes. She had called me complaining how R was throwing a tantrum about how J (my fiancé) was engaged and she doesn’t know who the b is.
That’s when I got the idea. I’m going to let her know who the B was. Don’t worry J is fine with this. I had R blocked on social media and I unblocked her and made my Instagram public for this occasion.
After unblocking her I posted a picture of my nails without the ring, my nails that were exactly the same as the picture he put on his story. A few days later I posted inspiration pictures of wedding invitations. Guess who seen them?
A few days after that I put a picture of myself with my friends dressed up with the caption, “my bridesmaids!!” and J a few hours later with his groomsmen with no caption but we had the same background of the restaurant the picture was taken.
And behold I get messages on Instagram where she demanded to know if I was the girl J was going to marry. She said things like “no, he can never like girl like you” and “you know how much he means to me.” I left her on read.
Yesterday, I posted a picture of the two of us. The pictures were taken on Saturday where we took his family out to inform them of our wedding plans and how they are officially invited with invitation given to them. I posted three pictures, one normal one is when we first started dating, when he proposed and the one on Saturday with his family with the invitation in the air as they surround us.
Caption being, “Proud to announce I am getting married this year to the love of my life! Can’t wait for a lifetime full of blessings alongside you.”
I got messages an hour after I posted that from R that I didn’t read and calls from my mom which I declined.
Today, I went on Instagram and saw over eighty messages of insults from her, one being how ugly I looked with my short bob hair which I cut for this occasion. Which I replied, “interesting, J doesn’t think so. Funny actually, you know J confessed to me after our second date that he thought in HS my Alice Cullen haircut as you described it before was the reason that grabbed his attention back then? He thought I looked very cute! Guess you did had a reason to feel threaten that time… as he found me attractive even then.”
After she read it I made my account private and blocked her. Now I’m thinking about doing it again when we’re getting married or changing my bio to his last name? Who knows

I’m trying to feel better about just taking care of myself this weekend. And I want to vent and check that I’m not being an asshole.
A friend of mine is getting married, and he asked me to be a groomsman or whatever in the wedding in October. I said yes. Then in November, my 20 year old cat was dying, and he calls me up to rattle on about the wedding plans and ask me to be a bridesmaid (for his bride, who I’ve never met) because she doesn’t have many people showing up and he didn’t want to have five groomsmen, and she to have no one. I’m not a people person, and I was upset about my cat, so I just said I didn’t want to discuss it at that moment because of the cat and other stuff going on, but I was happy to just sit this one out, not participate. So the cat dies and I let him know, and he responds with “I’m so sorry” -full stop- and doesn’t check on me at all.
So fast forward to February. My dad is on the living room floor getting CPR, I am flipping out, and I have no one else to call because it’s the middle of the night. So I call him and, as per usual, he is nice but also makes it all about himself. He needs to immediately get involved and be the hero and I had to say five times, I don’t want you to come over, I just needed grounding, please stop being so pushy, etc. My dad never wakes up. The next day friend offers, again, to come over. I say I really don’t want that right now, I’m grieving actively, I’m mopping death fluids off the floor. He spouts a bunch of truisms and stern, stuff about how I shouldn’t blame myself…and that’s kind of it?
It’s been two weeks and I haven’t heard a peep out of him until tonight when he sends a group text asking if (suddenly I’m back in the wedding party?) when we get to the end of the aisle, will half of us go sit on the bride’s side so it looks fuller. 2023.03.23 07:43 Im_A_Beach Ponticulus posticus - potential narcolepsy factor?

A week ago I had jaw correcting surgery for an underdeveloped lower jaw. At the post op appointment today my Dr was so existed to show me something that they had picked up on the X-ray unrelated to jaw. Apparently I have a ponticulus posticus - he said it could be related to my narcolepsy and that it’s known to cause it. He’s going to refer to a neurosurgeon. Naturally, I cried - I thought I might have more of a reason as to why. When I came home I googled it and it looks to be a normal thing (16%) of people have a variant, and I can’t find anything to do with N - more so it causing headaches etc.
This is a very distinguished surgeon and he had consulted another Dr about it, I don’t think he would have had my hopes up for nothing. I also don’t think my amateur googling is enough to come to conclusions but I guess… idk internet N sufferers . Does this mean anything to you? Have you heard of it?

Hi all,
So I was antsy about trying tDCS following a not so great experience with a tACS device, but have gradually ramped up my current level / duration and found it to be helpful...
...except for it triggering an annoying metallic taste, that seems to linger after sessions. I'm on Metformin, which has a side effect of metallic taste, but it never happened till I started doing tDCS and increasing current.
I first noticed the metallic taste doing the DARPA montage (anode on right temple, cathode on left shoulder). I tried doing that in "reverse" today in case it over stimulated a nerve lol (cathode on temple, anode on left shoulder) but that didn't seem to help.
Also was doing a different montage after: cathode F3, anode right shoulder. (This was recommended by psychiatrist based on some research showing cathodal stimulation of dlPFC can help with excess dopamine for people with COMT Met/Met genotype).
But triggered the damn metal taste again.
It's kind of annoying that I haven't really experienced any other significantly negative effects, but instead of doing the full 20 min at 2 mA I stopped after about 17 because I didn't want to be encouraging my system to have more persistent metal taste.
Any one else have experience with this and any suggestions to avoid it or get rid of it? I think my nervous system is very prone to overactivity. I have tinnitus, and visual snow (which is like eye tinnitus). Now it seems I have mouth tinnitus lol.
It doesn't seem to be harmful, but it is distracting so if I can't figure out a way to deal with it I may have to quit tDCS. Bummer.
