Advice on nail files?

2023.03.23 08:23 MidoriMushrooms Advice on nail files?

I've tried a few since picking up the kalimba and I've found a solution that works well for me. It is the only nail file that nearly removes the 'click' sound my nails make against the kalimba that annoys me so much, but there's a problem.
I got this nail file as a hand-me-down after my grandfather passed away. It's a disposable emery board that was sent to him by the Veteran's Association. My grandmother had a huge box of them she threw away because she didn't think anyone would ever use them.
There's really no way to get any more of this specific file, and the others I've tried leave a click. They don't 'blunt' the nail enough. I'm curious if anyone has a suggestion for what to do? I can't find out what grit these are at all, nor does Google tell me who supplies the VA with their basic topical medical implements so I could just go to the source and see if they have commercial options.

Pizza is one of Australia’s most popular takeaway foods and probably the safest option if you’re looking to serve food that everybody will enjoy.
At Roam’In Pizza we’ve found that the style of catering people choose is more to do with the type of function that is having than the people they are catering for. Corporate types or wedding guests will enjoy a pizza as much as the crew from the local building site. It’s really all about expectations.

The co-op agreement says that a minimum of 2.0 credits must be completed each academic term; if you only get 1.5 credits but have a job offer for the next term, would the co-op office tell the employer or interfere in any way?
I’m worried that, even if they still hire me independently without the tax credit, my working relationship with them will be damaged and that bridge burned.

Have you recently been injured in an accident in California? If so, you might be entitled to compensation for those injuries. That compensation can go a long way toward paying down your medical bills, making up for lost wages due to the accident, and so much more. To obtain the funds you need to make your recovery easier, you need to file a personal injury lawsuit in California. Understanding the California personal injury lawsuit process is the first step to filing a successful claim in court.

The Basics Of The California Personal Injury Lawsuit Process

In the immediate aftermath of an accident that led to injury, you might not be thinking about filing a lawsuit. You might be focused only on what happened and the emergency help you might need. That being said, the decisions you make at the scene of the accident can have a long-lasting impact on your health and your potential to recover damages in the personal injury claim process. Let’s look at what needs to happen to present the strongest case possible.

Get Medical Attention

First things first: Make sure you’re as okay as you can be. That means getting medical attention right away. If you have severe injuries, calling for emergency services is your first step. If you don’t seem to have severe injuries, you should go straight to the doctor’s office anyway. The idea is twofold: First, you want to be checked out thoroughly and have any injuries treated immediately. Injuries left untreated can quickly get worse. Second, by getting professional medical attention, you ensure that your injuries are well-documented. That record of injuries and treatment will be vitally important when you file a personal injury claim.

Get All The Evidence

The more evidence you have of what happened, the better off you will be in court. No detail is too small. Take photographs of the scene or record the aftermath in a video clip on your phone. If you were in a car accident and you happened to have a dash cam, the footage on that camera can be incredibly valuable when you file a personal injury claim.
If you were seriously injured and didn’t have the opportunity to record anything about the scene, write down everything you can remember as soon as possible. Memories can become fuzzy over time, so write it down while the thoughts are still sharp and clear.

Turning Onto A Larger Road

When we turn onto a more significant road, we should always yield the right of way to oncoming traffic.
This includes driving down side roads, parking lots, driveways, alleys, and private roads. We need to take extra precautions because car accidents can coincide from almost any direction at the same intersection. So remember to pay attention to those yield signs!

Follow Proper Reporting Procedures

The way you report the accident depends upon what happened and where it happened. For instance, a car accident should always be reported to local law enforcement; if it needs to be reported elsewhere, they can give you guidance. If it happened at work or on a job site, follow your employer’s instructions for reporting the incident. No matter who the accident is reported to, remember to document everything, either by taking photographs and video, or writing it down. It’s also a good idea to get information from any witnesses to the accident.

What Can You Recover In A Personal Injury Lawsuit In California?

When we talk about recovering damages in a personal injury lawsuit, there are a few different types. Economic damages are meant to compensate you for medical bills, the costs of medication, the cost of a new vehicle or repair of the old one, any special equipment needed to deal with your injuries, and more. Economic damages are for things that have an actual dollar amount attached to them. You can present the court with receipts and estimates for these damages.
Non-economic damages are those that don’t have an objective value. This might include compensation for the pain and suffering you experienced after the accident. It might take into account loss of the ability to do things on your own or the loss of life’s pleasures – what is that worth? Members of a jury can’t put a clear dollar amount on these sorts of damages, but they can award a figure that reflects what they believe you’ve endured throughout the personal injury ordeal.
In the California personal injury lawsuit process, you will quickly discover there is no cap on the amount you can recover in economic or non-economic damages, with one exception: There is a $250,000 cap on non-economic damages awarded in a medical malpractice lawsuit in California. While economic damages as a result of medical malpractice have no limit, only $250,000 can be awarded for pain and suffering.

The Statute Of Limitations On Personal Injury Claims In California

A statute of limitations exists in the legal world to prevent plaintiffs from coming to court with a case that could be decades old. The statute of limitations on personal injury claims in California says that if you have bodily injury as the result of an accident, you have two years from the date of the injury to file a claim. There are some exceptions to this rule, such as when the government is at fault for the accident or when extenuating circumstances exist. Most individuals, however, will have to abide by the two-year statute of limitations.
This is a good reason to hire an attorney as soon as you can, because they can keep you informed and up-to-date on the statute of limitations and help you decide the timing of your claim.

How The California Personal Injury Lawsuit Process Works

Filing a personal injury suit in California courts doesn’t start with the lawsuit itself. It actually begins with a letter sent to the individuals who were involved in the accident.

The Demand Letter

After we investigate your case and determine that you do have a basis for a personal injury claim, we will create a demand letter. This letter notifies the other party of your intent to file a claim to recover damages. It might be sent to the individual themselves, to their insurance company, or to their attorney (if they have one). The letter will explain the situation, why we believe they are liable for damages, and the compensation that we believe is fair. This will be their opportunity to settle out of court.
In many cases, the demand letter will be rejected or simply ignored. That’s when we file the lawsuit.

The Claim For Damages

If the demand letter doesn’t get any traction, your attorney will file a formal claim in the proper California court. The claim notifies the other party, now known as the defendant, of your intention to recover compensation for your injuries. The claim will explain the law, lay out the facts of your case, and make a compelling argument about why the defendant is responsible for your injuries and should be required to compensate you appropriately.
They could ignore the demand letter, but they can’t ignore a lawsuit. If they try to ignore it, the court will enter a default judgment in your favor – so it is in their best interest to respond. Though they might ask to settle the case, they will likely reject your claims and want to take the case to court.

The Discovery Process

After the initial back-and-forth in court, the discovery process begins. This requires both parties to disclose information and evidence from each side that might be relevant to the case and allows for each side to formally question witnesses and individuals who might shed light on what happened. This formal questioning is called a deposition, and it is given under oath. This means that the person giving the deposition is legally bound by what they say in the deposition. These testimonies can be a strong element of the case.

The Settlement Negotiations

When each side sees the discovery and evaluates just how strong the case really is, a settlement might be offered. In fact, the vast majority of cases wind up being settled before they go to trial. Your attorney will look at the discovery and the odds of winning at trial to come up with a number that you find acceptable, and then there will usually be some discussion between the two sides to settle the case.

What If Your California Personal Injury Claim Doesn’t Settle?

If the case doesn’t settle, it’s time to go to trial. Though the trial can be quite time-consuming, stressful, and expensive, sometimes the settlement offer is far too low to cover your medical bills – and that’s before you take into account other costs as a result of your injuries. Talk with your attorney to be certain that going to trial is the best course of action for you.
When you go to trial, a judge or jury will make the decision: Should you be awarded damages, and in what amount? The trial might last for anywhere from a day to several weeks, depending upon the complexity of the situation. And in the end, you might not get your compensation right away, as the judgment and award can be subject to appeal by either side.

2023.03.23 07:49 Is_the_floor_lava What should I do?

Sorry for the long question, first time posting! Okay so I have normally just done pretty basic training with my dogs, things like waiting to start eating, sitting, go to bed, not jumping etc - and it has been mostly intuitive rather than intense formal training. All was fine but…. I had 2 dogs, both girls - Millie: staffy x Smithfield (8) and Pepper: Kelpie (almost 4). We live semi-rural and the yard is about 1/3 acre. I work from home so am home most days. The dogs are allowed inside (have a dog door) but not on furniture, they sleep on their bed in the lounge or my office. Millie preferred to be inside most of the time being my shadow, and Pepper would be outside most of the time runnings endless laps so we now have a permanent giant figure 8 in the yard.
But Millie passed away last month unexpectedly, and we were rather heartbroken. Pepper (normally very happy and energetic) became very sad and clingy. She stopped going outside and had to be near us all the time, preferably touching. On the whole, her demeanour is slowly improving and she generally seems pretty happy now, which is good - but she still stays inside most of the time and barely does her zoomies anymore. She has put on noticeable amount of weight (not unhealthy yet though). Over the past week or so though she has started demanding attention - staring & trying to jump up, and whining and barking if you ignore her (she is not normally a barker). As you can imagine the past month she has been getting more attention than previously. She is also ignoring commands to go to bed, which never used to be a problem. Also she is completely ignoring my partner and only responding to me, much to his distress. She is not scared of him, still likes pats if he goes to her, just not interested otherwise. Anyway what should I do, should I give her more time or take more definite action?

2023.03.23 07:48 ThrowRAoneuseacc I (28F) think my husband’s (42M) new secretary (32F) is way too attractive to be working for him

She’s just his type; a leggy blonde with an incredible smile and an insane amount of charisma, she’s got the whole tight skirt high heels combo going on, it just feels like I’m living a cliche, and to be honest, my over imaginative mind is working over time creating this false image of me walking into his office one day only to find her bended over it, that mental visual makes me sick to my stomach and keeps haunting me like a nightmare. He finds my concern over her simply amusing and claims that I’m ridiculous for thinking he’d cheat on me with her just cause she’s good looking, he also says that her attractive looks and charming personality are necessary for a front desk job, states his relationship with her is strictly professional, and that she’s apparently in a relationship with two children (different fathers each).
The issue here is not that I doubt my husband, I trust him with everything in me, but I’m also not clueless and know that she’s a beautiful woman, while he’s a desirable man, with the insane amount of time he spends working in his office while she lingers around him, it must be easy for tension to build and mistakes to happen, that makes me feel even so very uncomfortable and unsettled. I know that’s an insecurity issue, but it’s plainly the truth.
I’ve told him that she’s way too attractive to be working for him but he just laughed at that. He clearly isn’t taking the situation as seriously as I am, thinks that I’m joking and finds my jealousy cute as he claims.
To be honest, he always gives me reassurance but I think that the only thing that’d actually give me peace of mind in this given situation is her being away from him, and him hiring a way less appealing co-worker with a husband and commitment. Also, I feel the need to actually clarify that I never am this jealous. But I think a part of this is just me being precautious. I drop visits at his office from time to time every week with food, he’s always eager and happy to see me, both our romantic and sex lives are great. But with this new issue … idk, I’m just scared that it’d bleed into our relationship. I know very well that jealousy could only be cute for so long before it turns unbearable. My husband is always cool and collective, he’s patient and understanding, but I imagine if I push this further even he would lose it and end up frustrated in me, I’m aware no one wants to be nagged on constantly and mistrusted. Any advice on the whole thing? It feels like I’m going crazy with it.
For reference; my husband and I have been together for 8 years, married for 2, no kids, he already has three from his previous marriage.

2023.03.23 07:40 Agitated-Pea2605 Hoofbeats, zebras and serotonin syndrome

Alrighty, y'all. Buckle in. Whole lotta details coming your way.
Female, mid-40's, post hysterectomy (one healthy ovary remaining). History of: T2DM (A1C 5.7), hypertension, chronic migraine, TMJ, fibromyalgia, bipolar 2, OCD, generalized anxiety. Low doses of Lisinopril and simvastatin, Tresiba (6 units), Ozempic 0.5QW, Gabapentin 300mg/TID, lithium 300mgAM/600mgPM, fluvoxamine 200mgQD, doxepin 20mgQD(PM), triazolam 0.25PRN for sleep. Note: the apparent trigger was the addition of Nuvigil 200mgQD; however, I only took it for maybe 3 days because as soon as I experienced the racing heart and dread of impending doom, I stopped it. Also, I take a fair few supplements (B Complex, Vit D, magnesium, Biotin) and I'd added vinpocetine for brain function but I've pulled that one as well.
Monday, 2/27: I notice I am experiencing mild vertigo while driving. After a body scan, I realize I’m really not feeling very well. It felt like the blah of a bacterial infection like bronchitis. My temperature, which runs about 97.3, was 99.5. First negative Covid test. I took three more over the course of the week, all of which were also negative. So I’m thinking… Well, guess I better make sure I’ve got my fluids and soup and everything ready to go. I can’t get into see my NP until Monday, March 6. Prepared to ride it out. Took paracetamol for the fever (which fluctuated but never made it over 100 or under 98).
Tuesday, 2/28: sometime around nine in the morning, I’m in bed thrashing. My arm would jerk one way; my leg, the other; my head would turn. It appears the name for this is myoclonus. But I didn’t have time to think much about it because I began to pour sweat. I soaked through my pajamas in no time, and just as I was getting up for a fresh pair, the shuddering began. (Edit: uncontrollable rigors is more acurate.) Nausea begin to roll in my stomach. Heart beating like a double kick playing speed metal. My head began to throb and pound. I had anxiety, agitation... and because I had never experienced anything like it, I assumed my fever was breaking. (Never dealt with fever much.) That went on for about an hour and a half. I thought, "Gee. I wouldn't want to do that again!"
Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday AND Monday I did it again. Twice on a few days.
So somewhere in all this, my blood glucose is trending down. And the only thing I can compare my symptoms to was an incident years ago where I needed food, and there was some obstacle between us. Please welcome diabetic rage! Or at least that’s what I thought. The point of all this is I got stuck in a loop where I was terrified that my blood glucose was going to drop below 90 (70 is textbook hypoglycemia and I was never near it), because that’s where it is when I have an “episode.“ So if the episodes are preceded by low-ish blood sugar, and the symptoms are the same… I mean yeah, the numbers are off but… What else could it be? No, I'm not in an obsessive spiral at all. I only tested my glucose 30ish times the day I went to the hospital. All that obsessively trying to avoid pain was a symptom, too.
By Sunday I couldn't take it anymore. I went to an ER and that was fine until I saw the doctor. Mind you, I was in a less than fit mental state. so when the doctor laughed at my theory of hypoglycemia… And he also said he could give me something to make me feel better (he never did). Basically he wrote me off as a weirdo with panic attacks. After going to the hospital via ambulance, I literally left with no treatment and no meds administered.
Monday, 3/6: I finally see my NP. NP says the same thing as the ER doctor: panic attacks. I am instructed to call my psychiatrist upon leaving NP‘s office. NP also prescribed Zofran for nausea. (I asked for promethazine because that’s what I’ve always had, but NP wasn’t comfortable prescribing it and I will never take it again.) I call and make an appointment with Psychiatrist, they call in some lorazepam to keep my brain from exploding. And that’s a damn good thing because when I called them on the 6th they couldn’t see me until the 20th. and of course, I relayed the opinions of ER doc and NP.
Time passed. while I did not have any more full blown episodes, I felt them coming on several times a day. I have been practicing breathing exercises, grounding, movement… Doing all the things we’re supposed to do anyway. But I really don’t remember accomplishing a damn thing since then.
Monday, 3/20: I go to see Psychiatrist. while I am obviously not in my normal state, I can’t help but notice that Psychiatrist is intently focused. He says, “we’re taking you off the Luvox now. We’re going to titrate, but we’re going to do it quickly. we will also revisit the lithium after you've stabilized from coming off the Luvox.“ when I asked him what the deal was, he said “this is a very rare side effect that can happen with the combination of fluvoxamine and lithium. It’s called serotonin syndrome.“
My jaw hit the floor. I know what that is. He saw my reaction and reassured me that we can get it straightened out. I've been his patient for 5 years and I've never seen him look so somber.
I don’t know what to do. I’m just beside myself. That’s a pretty humbling experience. So now I’m getting off one med and watching all other things I put in my body like a hawk. I still feel substantially unwell. But then I’ll have a couple hours where I feel all right. Then I have to go sit down. I guess this is convalescence. I’m trying to be gentle with my brain as it tries to gain its balance after marinating in all kinds of medication since I was about 12.
I sincerely hope none of you ever experience this. For those of you who have… You will forever have my unyielding empathy. This is no joke.

2023.03.23 07:39 Pension-Helpful CA unranked or Midwest Top 20

Hi everyone,
Not sure if this is the right group to post this, but I would like some advice.
For context: I graduated from a Top 20 undergrad, but had a pretty bad time (some major depression) that only cleared up over the pandemic when I went back home (LA, CA) and stay with my parents.
Now after taking two gap years after graduation, I applied to medical school and was very fortunate to get numerous acceptances with one even in the T20s. However, I only was able to get one acceptance near my hometown and it is a relatively new unranked school. While I'm excited about the opportunity to go to the top rank school, I am also very scared about it. So much so that I have been having panic attacks for no apparent reasons. I try to reason with myself on the great opportunity that the school will provide, but for some reason the panic attacks and depression just won't go away.
So now what should I do? I feel if I were to go to the unranked school I woulda lose an opportunity of a lifetime. But one of my friends also told me that rank only matter if you can actually go through the 4 years. Some help and advices would be greatly appreciated. Thanks y'all!

2023.03.23 07:37 uhohspaghettios26 Am I overthinking my negative experience with Banfield Hospital?

Not a medical advice question. Just wanting to know what your experience with Banfield Hopsital is.
I’ve had my cat for about 1-2 months now. She was about 5 months old when I adopted her. I took her to Banfield Hospital in PetSmart because she was scratching her face really bad. I suspected maybe it could be residual dermatitis due to her ear infection prior to me adopting her, a food allergy, or ear mites.
The vet said it didn’t look like ear mites and said the ringworm test turned out negative. And her ears didn’t seem to be infected so they’re going to give me steroid pills that I have to feed my cat every other day to get rid of her agitation. And they told me to give her prescription food (which is very expensive btw) and nothing else. I asked about treats, and they said no treats. And just strictly give her this prescription food until we can see if it’s a food allergy.
I asked them if there’s a way to test her to see what she’s allergic to instead of doing this long trial where I would have to keep coming back and paying for office visits and keep feeding her this expensive prescription diet. And they said allergy testing would be more involved and they don’t do allergy testing and can’t tell if my cat will have to be on this diet forever or not.
Anyway, so I brought my cat back to them after a couple of weeks because they said they wanted to do a follow-up appointment. I didn’t see why. Usually with human doctors, unless it’s a serious disease, once you get the meds and treatment plan, you don’t really go back for a follow up. Human doctors usually just say “here’s the meds. Here’s the treatment plan. You should be fine after this, but come back and see us if youre still not better”. But I thought fine, I want to make sure my cat is fine.
I kept asking about visits where I don’t have to leave my cat there. When I first scheduled the initial appointment, nowhere mentioned I’d have to drop-off my cat. I made sure I checked. So I was shocked when I got to the first appointment and they told me I’d have to drop off my cat. I asked if I could stay and they said no, this appointment is drop-off only. They said I’d have to reschedule if I didn’t want to do a drop off but my cat’s condition was so bad and I didn’t want to put it off any longer, so I hesitated, but agreed.
For the follow-up, I also asked for me to be present. But the girl said it’s drop-off only. I think it’s strange that I have to drop off my cat. Why am I not in the room with the cat as the doctor does the testing and examination? Same as how you would with a human? Especially for just a follow-up. Even though I expressed this, the front desk girl wouldn’t schedule me to be able to be in the room with the doctor. She thought it was because I was concerned about time issues. But I kept telling her I don’t care about how long it takes for me to be at the clinic. My concern is being present with my pet and being able to speak to doctor instead of having everything being relayed through a middle man (the front desk staff).
I dropped off my cat in her carrier because that was the only option. Because it was a follow-up, i thought it would take maybe just 30-60 minutes. it ended up taking about two hours just for them to tell me that she looks a lot better and that theyre going to be giving me more steroid pills. i said fine and paid the bill. $50 just for them to hold her for two hours and tell me she looks fine, something you can obviously see right away. no tests or exams were done. I thought this would be it and I wouldn’t have to return anymore.
But then they asked me to schedule another follow-up 4 weeks out (i might just cancel it). i asked them why and they gave me the same reason. to take a look at her skin, same as this followup. so i have to pay another $50 just for them to look at her with just their eyes for less than a minute? is this normal?
i asked again if it was possible for me to get an appointment where i can be present with my cat and the doctor. the girl again thought i was worried about time issues and said she can schedule me for a quick in-lobby appointment rather than dropping off my pet. i told her again im not worried about the time. So I don’t need a quick appointment. I just want to be present with my cat and the doctor. She didn’t seem to understand and scheduled me for the quick in-lobby appointment.
The appointment was scheduled. And she brought out my cat in her carrier. This took a while, and I wasn’t sure why. Then when she finally came out with my carrier and cat, I noticed she was holding the bag of treats I left in the side of the carrier and just never took out. She asked me if they were mine and I said yes. And she told me the nurse was playing with my cat and fed her the treats I had in my carrier. I was shocked and confused. Why were they going through my carrier’s compartments and taking things out of it? I asked her if that was okay to feed her the treats since THEY were the ones that told me to strictly not to feed my cat anything outside the prescription food for these new few months, not even treats, since we don’t know what she could be allergic to. Yet here they were, feeding my cat the treats they found while going through my carrier’s compartments without my permission. The girl didn’t answer my question And changed the subject.
Is this normal? I am thinking about cancelling the appointment and finding a different vet anyway. But I just wanted to know other people’s experience with Banfield or if all these follow-ups are actually necessary, or is it just a way for them to make more money off of office visits? It is my first time caring for a pet on my own and dealing with a vet for the first time.
I’m also now wondering if they even performed any of the tests they had me pay for in the initial visit. Since I wasn’t there, I couldn’t see any of it. They could’ve just said they did it and didn’t actually do anything. Because on the initial visit, I also asked for a nail-trimming so that if my cat does keep scratching herself, it wouldn’t be as bad. And since I am still quite inexperienced, I’m still having a hard time getting my cat to let me trim her nails. This service was $19. I made sure I asked before leaving if they made sure they cut her nails and the front desk girl assured me they had. But I took her home and realized they hadn’t trimmed her nails at all. I had to take her back the next day. The girl brought my cat out and made sure she said to me “okay, we cut her nails REEEEAL suuuper short for you now”, as if they had trimmed her nails the day before but I was the one being difficult and wanted them even shorter. But you could clearly see, her nails were still pointy and sharp with no signs of being trimmed.
I’m quite inexperienced and don’t really know much about how vets work and cat treatments and so on. So no mean comments please.

2023.03.23 07:36 maximilious best catheter post-procedure care take for male cat? (Urinary blockage / FLUTD)

My Male cat (Mixed short hair 1 year 1 month old) had 2 Catheter put on him due to urinary blockage.
On Friday 17th we noticed he was going to the literbox every 5-10 minutes and nothing was coming out. Our regular was not available to we went somewhere near. They were not a 24/7 clinic so from 3 to 5PM they took care of our cat, did the procedure then told us to transfer him to a near by overnight clinic.
we dropped our kitty to the over-night clinic, and provided the two drugs we were giving (every 12 hours, Prazosin and Buprenorphine)
We picked up our kiddy next day (saturday 18th) at 7:30AM, they told us to bring our cat back home then back to original vet once they open at 9AM. We kept our kitty in his carrier box, as he was plugged to the tube draining his pee. They tell us his pee seems fine. We noticed he tried to spin around inside the carrier maybe for the discomfort of the tube.
At 9 AM we drop off our kitty to the first original vet who did the procedure, and they keep him until 5:30
We pick him up, and they tell us that there was nothing wrong with his blood results, his urine sample had no signs of crystals (only blood cells) and that he is ready to be taken home (with no tube on him this time)
On the way home, we notice his carrier box is kind of smelly, as he had pee on it and all over his lower body. We tried to put him on the bathtub to clean him up but only managed to do so little because of stress, so we tried to clean him with wet towels instead.
He also pee in litter box, first 2-3 it wasn't a normal amount but it was pee, and it was bloody at first. After that he starts peeing without blood for very small amounts.
On Sunday morning (19th) we noticed he hasn't peed much but continue to monitor him. At night he seems like he is not well (just relaxing, sleepy, etc) and straining himself at litter box... So we decided to rush to the over-night clinic to see what is wrong.
They tell us that he is blocked again, and that they must do the catheter procedure AGAIN. Me not knowing any better and asking if they could try bladder expression, or something agree to it.
EDIT: During this time they are telling us that we cant keep doing catheter as it will create scar tissues making his hole narrower and we will need to do a big surgery to remove his penis so he can no longer be blocked.
We pick him up on Monday 20th, at 7:30AM and they tell us he is now fine and was able to pee on his own. They give us Metacam anti-inflammatory drug for him every 24 hours.
At home, he did not PEE ANYTHING as soon as we got home, nothing. no little drops, nothing. Poor guy was super swollen down there.
we decided to wait a little bit to see if the drugs or something would change. Around 5PM we decided to this time try a new vet that is actually 24 emergency.
at 8 a tech sees us and asks us general questions about his medication, symptoms, procedures, etc.
at 10 we are told by the doctor that she was able to get our kitty to pee by expressing his bladder, no other procedure necessary but she wants xrays to check the bladder and another urine test to understand what is happening.
at 10:45PM we are told we can take him home as the xrays don't show signs of crystals or stones, and we will be phoned regarding urinary test results. We are given gabapentin drug as needed every 8 hours.
We take him home and feed him the wet canned food for his new special diet, he eats a lot with some added water. We keep him in our bedroom separated from our other fixed female cat
Tuesday (21th) we check litter box number 1, and find 5-6 spots of pee clumps, and litter box number 2 has 2-3 clumps.
small pees throughout the day.
Today, he only had 2-3 clumps in one litter box, and 0 on the other one.
We been checking every time he goes to the litter box, and there is small amounts of pee coming out.
How can we help him with his swollen area? are these medications enough? if not what else can we get that will help him during these times?
Is it normal for him to have these small amounts of pees after all the procedures he had done? or should be be peeing like normal now?
Right now he is acting exactly like he was before we noticed he had an issue peeing. He is eating tons of his new diet food (with added water both wet and dry diet foods), however, it doesn't look like he is drinking any of the water from his water fountain or cups we leave on the floor. It seems like he is really digging into the litter boxes before trying to pee.
Should our kitty be staying with a doctor until he is able to pee normally?
Any help is appreciated thank you.

2023.03.23 07:21 Character-Archer2616 People who successfully obtained WFH/hybrid as an accommodation - WHAT WORKED?

Hi, I'm AuDHD, and I know working 9-5 in an office 5 days a week is absolutely not sustainable for me. I am contract-to-hire after 90 days and am considering an ADA request when I am hired.
What was the secret sauce that won your employer over? Could be how you framed the need, the timing, the approach, the word choice, anything. I also would request 50/50 remote/in-person - I actually like going to the office, but after 4-5 hours I'm toast.
My boss is 10000% a "return to the office" kinda guy and views WFH very negatively. My job description even says "This is not a remote position due to the collaborative nature of the work." which...what kind of BS is that even anyway lol...we all work from home on occasion.
Alternatively, if you were denied an accommodation and wrecked them in a lawsuit, I would love to hear your story. Hoping it won't come to that but hey...a payout is a payout lol.
I also work for a federal contractor - I know the rules are mostly the same but worth noting.

2023.03.23 07:08 Test999999992 Cicada 3301

Cicada 3301
I have tried to post this message before, however it is being censored by Cicada 3301.
78.242, -43.813 Approximate coordinates of the base.
Greenland, during the cold war after World War 2 there were a large group of Flemish soldiers that decided to steal weapons and illegally construct a secret bunker on the large island. They did not wish to be destroyed if humanity decided to use the nuclear weapons of war. Construction started in 1945 and ended in the 1960s. When the bunker was completed, they decided to take up permanent residence this was done via the installation of a pig farm and cultivating of beans that do not need sunlight to grow. There were scientists that were recruited into the group in order to take preliminary calculations of the site before construction began, after they were completed, they asked the soldiers to move in with them. After two years of living there the scientists grew tired that they had to do all the work in the base, so they decided to kill all the soldiers. This is how cicada 3301 was formed.
With the bunker now belonging to the scientists they immediately began to research new technologies. Early on when the internet was new they knew that it was going to play a big part in the future of human society and that they should focus researching different computer technologies, they began development of certain artificial intelligence and today they have been able to hack in to many of the different computer systems all around the world, all it takes is an internet connection and their bots will be able to hack in undetected with the exception of highly encrypted systems, however in most cases the scientists are able to decrypt the system. They have been able to hack into everyone’s mobile device and are able to gain speech data, this is important to their AI research.
Cicada 3301 is mostly known through their complex internet puzzles which includes something that is called the Liber Primus or the first book that is Nordic runes which need to be decoded in order to read the text that is basically an invitation to come and work for them in Greenland.
Scientists are not allowed to leave the base and travel to the outside due to the base remote location and the risk of someone that knows too much, turns and betray Cicada 3301 however they do need people on the outside on a need-to-know basis so that’s were the recruitment of former criminals comes in.
The small independent self-sustained bunker system was to become a haven of science and progress, free from the prying eyes of outsiders and enemies alike. In order to maintain their ranks at the base they had to employ past felons that would complete task around the globe for them. Among them there was kidnapping, bringing in outside resources that might have been needed in the base. The organization is not just an internet cryptology puzzle. Due to the base only consisting of hard-working scientists the base developed several morally challenged technologies that would challenge the outside world. The main goal of the work being done there is to maintain utter secrecy of the base employing of modern specially designed AI that would delete any critical information about the base activities from the modern-day internet.
Cicada 3301 is split in to two groups: scientists and felons (which are called agents by the organization): People who have conducted a series of serious crime (“5”) may be allowed to partially join the organization that has in the more recent times developed an Artificial Intelligence key that allows access through almost every locked door on the planet. Technologies, such as a Direct Alarm Response Global Positioning System for the felons that will show real time locations of emergency vehicles. Enemies (people from the outside) that have angered the Cicada 3301 can be directly targeted by these felons, often people that have had plans to build something large in Greenland.
In order to understand the bunker system’s main function people will have to understand that in order to work for the base proper to survive it is necessary to have at least a very well-established knowledge in a field of science. Specialized equipment needs to be bought in from the outside in order to create some of the gadgets at the base, the items seem miraculous because the base is focused on advanced AI research. Most of the items need an explanation, however they are created by the scientists there to ensure the safety of the base.
An artificial intelligence key might seem redundant, but it allows the scientists to shut it down in case an agent go rouge or lose it. The key looks like a toy in order to avoid attention being drawn to it.
Agents sleep during the day and are only allowed to go out at night. They rent apartments all over the world, they are not allowed to live in houses, they drive full electric cars because sometimes they are tasked with kidnapping someone that is about to, against their will join Cicada 3301 they do not want to draw attention to themselves, driving a completely silent car.
They recruit new members via kidnaping if they are going to join the scientist’s department. Kidnapping is done via the installation of nanometer bugging devices when the victim is not at home, these tiny bugging devices are applied via a toy looking gun it looks like a toy in order to avoid drawing attention and if an agent go rouge and wants to turn in the gun to law enforcement it wouldn’t work due to the remote detonation function that the nanometer bugging devices have, so the scientists from the base simply detonate all the bugs if an agent wants to go rouge or loses the gun. A way of recruiting someone they think is highly intelligent is to first look up their grades at school then bug their homes with the tiny bugging devices that have remote AI technology and is able to notice if someone looks at the direction of the bug, since the bug is only 1 nanometer wide a person is not able to see it but the AI can notice via a tiny camera that someone is looking at it and detonate with a small blue flash, if the person that sees it thinks it’s a bug they will be kidnapped. Usually, the organization doesn’t go that far and just kidnaps people that had good grades from a science related program from university. This is where the puzzles come in it was just a way to asses’ skills before kidnapping the individuals that would complete them.
To recruit a new agent, they simply go up to a newly released person and asks if they want to work for an international organization if they say yes, they will be granted all the necessary equipment to complete beginners’ tasks, if they say no, they will be threatened that if they say anything to another person they will be killed and then will be let go of. This is possible to do because Cicada 3301 has access to the prison files and can see which crimes inmates did so they just look up when they will be released and go find them after they left the area where there are no cameras. They do have ranks for agents as well as for people in the base.
Some of the equipment the agents use are nanometer bugs, the AI key, a serum that can knock out a rhino and night vision googles that can see in color. The agents must nanometer bug themselves so that Cicada 3301 always can watch what they are doing, the nanometer bugs have GPS so an agent must put one on their clothes. The bugs can be destroyed if the clothes are washed in 90 degrees centigrade.
The AI key can unlock doors instantaneously due to the algorithms being highly trained, so it is the primary means of getting through a locked door. The key looks like a toy and if lost it will be shut down. The serum that can knock out a rhino is used during the kidnapping of a victim; it can be applied anywhere on the body to knock out the target person. There must be two people when carrying a body. They put them in a sound isolated trunk of an electric car and depending what they want to do with the person they either take them straight to Denmark to be airlifted via helicopter to the AX base which is short for an unknown name of the base that the scientists are occupying, if the plan is to murder the person the agents will dig a large hole then place the body in there, shoot them with a .45 pistol with hollow point bullets then bury the corpse.
If a person is going to be abducted, they are not allowed to be famous or work at any university as a doctor they will also not be kidnapped if they get suspicious and calls the police at least five times and say they are in danger of being kidnapped or killed, the agents are also neither allowed to kill someone that has called the police five times. The agents often kidnap people at 4am
The agents also have a Direct Alarm Response Global Positioning System.
Sounds an alarm for incoming emergency vehicles, displayed location of vehicles in real time.
This is used to avoid police.
They also have night vision googles that can see color in the dark, these googles looks like a toy, and the googles can be shut down so they no longer work, AI is used to display the different colors of objects, this is possible due to the algorithm being highly trained.
Something else that the organization has is a one charge laser pistol that has the potential to knock a person unconscious, the pistol is not used by agents and is just one of the many things that Cicada 3301 has created.
In the base they also have other advanced AI bots that have been trained by phone data from all over the world, because of that the talking bots sounds like a human and is almost indistinguishable from a normal human being. The bots are made for research purposes.
Cicada 3301 need to store an incredible amount of data for all of this to function they have created hard drives that can store petabytes of data.
The bunker base has plenty of futuristic technologies this has been possible due to the strict work order that they have, the scientists work all day long to be able to create new tech and most people that work there only need one hour of sleep because they are geniuses, the famous Nikolai Tesla only needed two hours. The rest of the time is spent working. Another thing they can do is to cultivate nerves.
The scientists at the base also have plenty of rules that are above the people that work there no one is allowed to break them with few exceptions. I someone breaks a rule the penalty is death, then they are taken to a special room to be executed. If a scientist dies the remains are cremated at their crematorium. They do not have a ceremony for the departed. The bunker has a system where the scientists are tenants of the base and earn money from working at the various departments within. They use Danish crowns as a currency and need to pay for their own water, electricity and food. Agents on the outside also need currency, these funds were gained by illegal means due to the criminal needing a country’s own regional currency to be able to pay for stuff. The main currency gained by the agents are the dollar bill. Blackmail and threats were sent to high profile criminals, with the invention of the mobile phone it was possible to track the movements of individual people which made it possible for agents to sneak past guards. They would sneak into the bedroom or main office and place a note that says that they must pay a large sum of money or be killed, it was also made clear that under no circumstances were they to tell anyone about the note. They did this to several high-profile criminals and everyone that was affected by this paid up and told no one. From this Cicada was able to gain large amounts of money. They always took the money straight to the base and from there split some of it to agents that have worked for a long time, them go into banks and put the dollars in there then move the money from the account into other accounts.
Meanwhile in the Cicada base if someone is alone, they will be able to gain a spouse depending on what kind of sex they kidnap, if no one is available they will have to wait until someone is captured for them. Many of the people there work in pairs meaning that they work together with their spouse.
What most people work on are the computer-based technologies most of the scientists spend time on their own personal computers and they do AI research and train their algorithms, they have different ranks in the bunker it is split between workers and officers and depending on which rank the higher ups gain more knowledge about the technologies there with some of the tech being kept a secret from the lower ranks. Officers plan the daily operations in the cicada while the workers carry them out, it is generally harder to be an officer due to having more work to carry out.
Due to their large data collections, they have uncovered plenty of secrets that have to do with various things most noticeable is the knowledge of secret nazi documents that the nazis after World War two took with them or copied from memory which they brought with them from Germany to Argentina. They when it became available wrote it down on computers this made it possible for the Cicada 3301 organization to copy them and store on their servers an example of a document is that Hitler was not allowed to participate in art school not due to his lack in artistic skills but due to all the places being full of people that graduated from an ordinary school and when Hitler gained knowledge about this had the person in charge of the course seats sent to Auschwitz were he later died. This information is top secret so one could only imagine what the cicada organization has gotten their hands on. They know everything about secret military installations such as Area 51 and pine gap. This has only been possible due to the huge amount of time invested in computer research these knowledge and skills are not available to the outside, they have also solved every unsolved problem in math due to the entire base being run by people who are of genius status so there should not be any surprise to learn that this bunker is far into the future, it could be thousands of years ahead of it’s time. The nazis for example wanted to keep their documents secret at all costs and most ordinary people probably want to keep their secrets secret however the Cicada runs this global research operation where they are spying on everyone through their mobile device, they have a voice amplifying algorithm that increases the sound of the person speaking for example if you live in a large three story building they could probably hear you from the bottom floor from the top floor with a nanometer bug easily, the sound is analyzed via their computers at the base which are being processed by AI.
Another thing they could do is the redirection of missiles, they never do this however it is possible for them to gain access to the launch system after the missile is fired and change it’s course for example if nuclear weapons are being fired from the USA to Russia and vice versa it would be possible for them to change it’s course and hit something else but while it is possible for them to do this they are not allowed to do this because of one of their rules that state that they may not interfere with the outside unless it has been turned into chaos what that means is that they are going to save everyone that is left alive if the planet as we know it is destroyed.
Cicada 3301 has the main goal of saving the planet in case of a nuclear war or another catastrophe. They developed several unknown technologies for this purpose the plan is to leave the base as soon as disaster hits, how exactly they plan to save the planet is unknown however they will probably broadcast information to the outside how to build certain technologies and how to cure radiation sickness. They have developed a cure for all forms of cancer. It is unknown what the other technologies are that they tend to use in case of the world’s destruction. Everyone should already know that there is a possibility for things to end very badly on the planet, things like climate change and political instability are a few of the reasons.
So, what do Cicada 3301 intend to do if they manage to save the world? As far as I know they intend to first make sure everyone is safe then rebuild all infrastructure, this will probably take over a thousand years, they are working on humanoid robots which they will employ. These robots will be indistinguishable from any ordinary human being, all this will be in effort to create a one world government.
This does sound good, the fact that there is a plan in case our sins against this planet destroy it. What will happen though if they fail, or we manage to keep the planet going with out their help. If the planet manages to survive, they will probably continue their research during an indefinite amount of time and continue to abduct geniuses from the outside. If the bunker is destroyed and they fail it would surely be the end to all mankind unless we pull ourselves together.
The AX bunker has a rule that they must self-destruct if they are discovered, they have a thorium reactor which they plan to overload should they need to destroy themselves, the base is very remote and would be hard to uncover, although the base area is very large and would be easily spotted by aircraft. They cannot be spotted by satellite due to the base already having deleted themselves from all maps. If someone were able to gain knowledge about the Cicada organization their online posts about the topic would be deleted by the base. So, it is almost impossible to spread information about them and it is also hard to notice the posts being deleted because when logged in they are shown client side as being put up for everyone to read. The thorium reactor will detonate a radius of 80 kilometers. There are approximate 2000 scientists that work at the base. There is almost no chance of posting about the base on the internet unless the website is highly encrypted.
The ordinary citizen is not affected by the base activities other than their cellphone data being monitored by AI and stolen, there are concerns, however. The base has nanometer bugs and does not hesitate to bug ordinary people that gets knowledge about the base, for example people reading this letter will be on their target list over people that should be nanometer bugged.
They bug people and sometimes companies when there are no people around, they take their bugging pistol and apply the bugs everywhere, on walls, ceiling, floor and objects. Then AI and sometimes the scientists watch through the tiny camera of the bugs. They can collect data from them such as how a person moves around and how they speak. The reason why an ordinary person would get bugged like this is because the scientists will send their agents if a person tries to do something against the base like talking to the police, so far no one has done this. A person is safe from the agents if they call the police at least five times, this is one of their rules, to not harm someone that has done so.
From the ordinary persons point of view the existence of such a base would seem highly improbably this is due to the insane number of precautions taken by the military that built it. Nothing about the base construction plans leaked out to the public or any other government installation however they were afraid that something would get leaked out about the location, so they built the walls extremely thick to withstand three times Tsar bomba, the fifty-megaton bomb. This was quite the engineering achievement. They suspected that if something about the site was leaked, they would be nuked as well as other targets.
The soldiers that lived there had no plans whatsoever to rebuild the world in case of the aftermath of a nuclear war but rather had the base just to save themselves. They lived alongside civilians’ scientists and had them do all the work at the base the scientists raised concerns over their living conditions several times and urged the soldiers to start working harder than they were doing eventually things boiled over and the scientists got mad that the place wasn’t used for a better purpose then just to survive. The soldiers had their weapons in racks in another place than they were sleeping in and only had one guard to keep watch at night the weapons were unobtainable by the scientists, so they got knives and went to the soldiers’ quarters, killed the guard and began to slit the throats of the sleeping soldiers. Some of them woke up and tried to desperately fight back while others ran to the outside without clothes the scientists shut the door behind the soldiers and let them freeze to death. Only one scientist was killed. The soldiers had lived there for two years before disaster struck. And the scientists formed Cicada 3301. It is unknown how many there was at the beginning but there were both men and women among them. They needed more people so some of the scientists before it was a rule that they may not leave the base, left the base with a plan that they should look for former felons that could perform various tasks for them, there were plenty of communications equipment already inside the base. At first the base did not need new members they began recruiting when they had begun to bug peoples’ cellphones and computers due to them needing to assess a person’s skill. In the beginning during the first generations of Cicadas not everyone was a genius but rather a hard-working scientist.
Cicada 3301 has systems always connected to the internet; one might think it to be possible to break into these systems although it would be impossible to do since their systems are the most secure ones in the world.
Only the highest-ranking member of Cicada 3301 has the decryption key.
When Cicada posted their online puzzle thy used something called “pretty good privacy encryption” this was done to make sure that no one would impersonate them. This has been used accompanying every puzzle. However, there will be no more puzzles due to Cicada having deleted the PGP key. This was done to make sure that no one else in the organization would create a recruiting puzzle.
All their puzzles were made to recruit highly intelligent individuals, if a puzzle was solved by a single individual, they would receive an e-mail with instructions on what to do then be taken via helicopter to the base, they would not kidnap these individuals. Two people completed one of the puzzles on their own, one female and the other one male. The female was taken to the base did not know what it was and became suspicious over the base activities she had already taken some pictures from the outside and some other from the inside. She posted them on Google maps as a drop-down box, she used get position to gain the exact location on the base There was an open WI-FI connection to the internet which she used to leak the photos online. The pictures were only up for one day and only one person did see them. She was later executed for doing this. The man could not complete his tasks and were executed.
People that can’t complete their work inside the AX bunker are executed, also those who refuse work are executed.
There were several puzzles made for recruiting purposes people think it’s a recruiting tool for organizations such as the CIA or NSA without suspecting that it is for an international independent organization with a base in Greenland. The Liber Primus is probably the most Cicada well known puzzle where a person must decrypt Nordic runes. Cicada were critical against their own puzzles thinking some of these extremely hard mysteries were too easy. The Liber Primus for example was suspected to be cracked in seven months. They no longer wanted to use puzzles due to collective solving when they just wanted a few individuals. Cicada 3301 is an international organization with agents all over the world these agents take resources from the outside world and take them to the base via helicopter. They have recruited four helicopter pilots that take supplies and kidnaped victims to the base, they were recruited by agents asking someone with a pilot license. That were allowed to fly over Danish territory if they wanted to join an international organization. They have recruited four helicopter pilots.
The helicopter pilots know nothing about Cicada 3301. They have just gotten a location of which to fly to and deliver supplies. Their residents are unknowingly bugged by agents. They are allowed to do anything except talk about their job with the threats of death.
To the base they bring all that is necessary from the outside most of the stuff are being manufactured at the base. They gain metals from an underground mine beneath the base.
There are several ranks at Cicada 3301 such as: Worker, officer and top manager. I have talked about this before however the top manager is not the leader of the organization the council rules the base and enacts rules. Cicada produces several technologies due to having other branches then just computer science although computer science is their main thing. It is unknown how far they have come in the other fields of science because everything is being kept a closely guarded secret.
The top manager decides things about their guidelines. If a person may ignore them for example. If a person breaks a guideline, they are to be lectured by the top manager.
No one knows what goes on in the bunker, the agents know nothing either they are on a need-to-know basis because if someone managed to get captured, they can say nothing about the base location and what goes on there etc. They only know that they work for an international organization that have developed nanometer bugging devices and so on.
The largest achievement of the base was the development of telepathy. This is how I know all of this; I was telepathically bugged, and they were going to recruit me. They told me a large amount of the goings on and answered my questions. However, I did not want to be recruited by such an organization and decided to contact the police which by the way did nothing against them. However due to there being a rule that if someone contacts the police five times, they may not be kidnaped I wasn’t taken due to me calling the police via phone an additional number of times. Some things about the base I was able to piece together myself. A rather disturbing thing about the telepathy was that they used it as a disguised psychosis device meaning that people who had been affected by it would think that it was just a psychotic episode. They bug people in the world at any given time for about A year. These people were bugged because they need to gain data from the nerve patterns when talking to a person. How the machine works is that they use electrons to bind to the neurons to create a pattern then this pattern is somehow sent back through some kind of electron tunnel, it is some kind of rail system this machine creates. The reason why they do this is because they attempt to develop humanoid robots that are indistinguishable from a human. One will not be able to tell the difference looking at it from the outside. These robots are designed to help rebuild the world in case of a disaster such as I mentioned before.
How they go about bugging people with telepathy is rather simple they select at random some one that has just moved into a new place then the person selected will be bugged, they act in different ways sometimes friendly and other times scary. They try to fool individuals also by saying they should do stuff such as: someone there wants to see you should knock on the door in hopes that the person affected does this.
They need a DNA profile of the person they are going to bug for the machine to work properly.
According to Cicada 3301 the telepathy is a doomsday device, anyone on the planet can get bugged at any time and there is no way to deflect the signal other than going underground 200 meters. In other words, if the machine is built on the outside of the base, it would be the end of the world. Luckily the machine is very complex and will probably never be recreated outside the bunker.
They go about their work by always telepathically bug four people at any given time. They can be bugged like this for a year or go underground to survive it. Although the telepathy is annoying, and most people have a nervous breakdown and hang themselves because they do not know that they can go below ground to escape it. A very few numbers of people survive. Those that do probably never found out that it was in fact telepathy and probably just thought it was psychosis. Those that go to a health care center will be given medication that do not help, no one would believe in telepathy and going there might only reinforce belief that it is only psychosis another thing is that 30 percent of people are resistant to anti-psychotic medication, so it isn’t suspicious if nothing works.
There are several rules and guidelines used to make a person think it is only psychosis when they are bugged for example, they never say something that is not know to the person. They also use various types of AI bots when talking to the person in order to make sure that they say nothing that can reveal to them that it’s telepathy and most people affected by this think that they have gone insane. They can also give a person different kind of sensations in the body such as pain so a large number of things are only personally known such as the things they say. If someone attempts to record the voices via listening to them then speaking up leads them to use a special kind of bot that is intended to fool people that the person lies to others about having a psychotic episode. The voices also have a special function made to make a person concentrate on them, they can lower or increase the volume depending on what a person does for example if listening to loud music they can increase the sound so that the person affected here them despite playing loud music.
Another thing that is possible to do with the telepathy is to display three-dimensional psychosis meaning that they can give a person hallucination. Another thing they can do is to give a person the madness frequency that makes them want to scream all the time. They can read one’s mind with the machine and even see images the brain creates.
This is really a miraculous machine, and it has been used to gain data from animals as well, they gather DNA from different kinds of creatures then bug them with the machine, they can then see through the creature’s eyes and read its mind.
They also know that if they begin to talk with a creature through the telepathy, it will go insane. The creature they bug with the telepathy must have a brain meaning they can’t bug insects.
Someone must find the base at all costs then contact authorities immediately to avoid getting abducted.

2023.03.23 07:03 MyloveAyleth My mom wasted my humira shot and I'm devastated

Context: I've been recently ish diagnosed in November, but been experiencing pain way before that. Back in August I had a really bad all over body flare that went on for months up until I got my hands on humira. It's been hard getting this medication not only because of miscommunication that could've made it possible to get this medication sooner but also because my insurance didn't want to cover it at first. I really understand how valuables it is to me which is why I'm so sad and mad at what happened.
To clarify I'm not writing this for advice, I don't think I'll be able to do anything anyway, I'm writing this because I can't open up to people or my parents irl the way I can here
Since the end of February I've been able to take humira which has caused my body to feel better than it was before I was on it, so I can say that it definitely works, that's what's scary about it. One thing to know about me is that I'm afraid of needles, no matter how small or big.
Back when I was going to my doctor's office to see how the humira is administered I wanted to go alone so I could only rely on myself to do it, because I hate needles. When my parents heard me say this, my mom was the first to get mad and say "fine, go by yourself, but don't ask me for anything anymore" and stopped talking to me. my dad on the other hand was trying to get me to let her come with me but I said no.
Later on throughout the day I became more worried that i might not be able to retain all the information, so I gave in and asked my mom to be there with me so she can listen in as well. 2 people knowing better than 1 is good, right? That's what I thought at the time at least.
The whole time during the instruction class she was listening, looking and doing as the assistant said while watching her making sure it was done correctly, and it was. I was hopeful then because I trusted her that she could do it when I couldn't or was to anxious.
As of the morning today I was a week late on my humira because of my insurance that couldn't let me have it earlier, so I was really waiting on it to arrive so I could take it, once it got here I was relieved and couldn't wait, I don't want to experience the pain I was in those months ago, it was traumatic to me, just pure weakness.
So, when it arrived I happily asked my mom if she could do it on me because I was still scared you know? She said yes and everything was fine until the time it had to be administered. I knew I should've not let her do it when she started eyeing the injection weirdly, taking caps off and putting them back on, it was also a bit dark only lit up by sunlight so I couldn't see well. I thought she knew she could do it, so I trusted her and didn't say anything and turned away.
Looking back I should've watched, she was holding it with her whole hand covering the pen so I couldn't see the side of the needle if it had the cap or not. When I turned back around she asked if it hurt and I said no (I thought this was normal seeing as the first time it was administered I didn't feel a thing either) and when she lifter the pen I didn't see the point where it punctured so I was still fine. However when I looked at the pen I realized the cap was still and no medication got in.
I uncapped it and saw 8,000 worth of Medicine spray out, I'm still crying over this I can't get over it, I cried then too. Seeing the medicine that is supposed to make me feel better go to waste made me so sad? It was honestly more than that, I've never experienced such sadness come over me so fast like that. Then my mom started back peddling saying I was the one who told her to have it capped, then that the assistant did it capped too. I couldn't believe it , she was shown how and now i have one less pen. I just don't want to be in pain anymore
My parents don't understand what I have, even before I got my humira they were talking about having me see a different doctor because they didn't understand why I needed the injections, as in its so drastic to what I was taking before (pills) saying it can't be that bad. They don't understand the pain I've gone through and why seeing the medicine just spray out broke me.
Afterwards my parents started saying they'd get me another one, but from where? My insurance only covers 2 every refill and only for a certain amount of time cause it's expensive.
My dad started saying that if "I know how to put the injection" and I said yes because I do I just get anxious then he asked "why did you ask your mom" I mean why wouldn't I? I trusted her but she fucked it up. It wasn't my fault that I asked her? I was happy in the moment how am I at fault there? I'm at fault when I didn't get a close look at the needle side, I accept that.
I don't know where they're going to get a new one but I can't forgive, they say she feels sorry but I feel even worse seeing my only chance at normalcy be wasted. I know if I was on the other side my mom would've definitely screamed at me.
In the end I used the other pen because that's all I can do at this point. I had a friend trained in that kind of stuff do it on me, I was to emotional to do it myself. i was really scared that I'd also waste it, i couldn't take any chances.
I can't do anything, all I can do is wait until I'm allowed to get my next refill

2023.03.23 06:59 SeamsterDreamer My (23M) domestic partner (25M) won't wear a mask despite me being immunocompromised

TLDR My (23m) domestic partner (25m) and I have been together 4 1/2 years, have lived together for the last 4. Recently he hasn't been masking in indoor group settings. I've asked him to dozens of times to help protect me from an infection that would likely mean hospitalization. But he continues to unmask more and more frequently. Should I leave him? Tell him I'll leave him if he doesn't change this pattern? I'm unsure how else to deal with this.
My partner and I moved in under less than ideal circumstances about 6 months before covid hit. At the time my medical conditions weren't as bad as they are now, but he masked and social distanced like we were meant to. In the last few months I've noticed the mask coming off more and more. He's going out with friends into crowded bars and the sort and posting pictures without his mask on. He'll leave it behind during our grocery shopping. Ect ect. When he does wear a mask it's a one layer cotton one, I've offered to pay for surgical or n95 masks for him, but he turns me down. When I ask why he says, "I just don't like them." He works at a small office, so I don't nag him about wearing a mask at work, but it seems like pointless risk the behavior he's been showing recently. I don't want to get into the details of my medical conditions, but I'm immunocompromised and he's been a carrier for other illnesses that have dehabilitaed me for weeks. He says he has a strong immune system and will hang out with people who have a cold or stomach virus, and he'll have mild symptoms for a day or two, but during that I'll catch it from him. About 9 months ago, the "little sniffle" he gave me had me out of work for two weeks and struggling to manage bronchitis for a month after. He's been talking about marriage, but I really don't trust him right now. He seems to have lost compassion towards me, and is unwilling to do what seems to me to be a simple task at the risk of my life. I've had many Sit down conversations along the lines of, "if you spread covid to me I'll be hospitalized or worse. Please wear a mask. When you don't it seems like you value not wearing a mask over my life." I know the trends are changing and a lot of people are ditching their masks, but over the last three months I've had multiple scares because he's been exposed and we don't know if he's a carrier. What do you think I should do? I want to respect his autonomy, but it's so simple to wear a mask when indoors at a crowded space, and I quite literally could die because of his carelessness. I don't like saying, "do this or I'll break up with you." But I don't see myself staying in this relationship if his behaviors don't change. Should I dump him? Tell him I'll dump him if he doesn't fix the problem? Something else?

2023.03.23 06:52 RandomDudeYT_ Need advice plz

(Sorry bit of a long read but need advice)
I originally injured my knee playing football in Feb 2022 and I ended up getting the typical NHS treatment. Didn’t get a definitive answer as to what injury I had or how to treat it and was told different things by different doctors who were all trying to usher me out of the door as fast as possible.
My knee was very swollen and I couldn’t walk on it and every time I put weight on it even after the swelling had gone down it would give way and cause a lot of pain.
I finally went for an MRI 5 months later in July and was told they would contact me to discuss my results and next steps
I was waiting that long that my knee eventually felt like it had healed on its own and on the 13th March 2023 I went and played my first football match in over a year.
40 mins into the game I jumped in the air and upon landing my knee buckled and gave way again causing a crazy amount of swelling and pain and I couldn’t walk again.
I went to the doctors 2 days later and he was shocked that I hadn’t already received my MRI results from 8 months ago and hadn’t been contacted by the hospital.
The results show that I suffered a bucket handle medial meniscus tear and a “complete disruption of anterior cruciate ligament in its mid substance” which I think means a complete ACL tear.
However those results were from my previous injury now 13 months ago to the same knee and it is currently worse and more painful than it was last time.
The doctor told me I need to call to book an appointment with a knee specialist on Friday. (7 working days after my appointment on Wednesday last week)
Has anyone else had the same injury and what was the recovery like? What can I expect to happen in the near future in terms of medical treatment and will I need surgery?
