2023.03.23 08:09 PastorBlinky Don’t give up. It does get better

I saw a post pop into this sub from someone who was 13 and thinking of ending it all. By the time I wrote my reply it was gone. I assume they got cold feet, but on the off chance they see this I hope you take this to heart.
I can’t fix the pain you’re in. I wish I could. What I can do is tell you I went through the same thing. I was 12. I too wrote the letter. I made the plans. I was done. I wasn’t confused, I was in pain. Everything sucked so much I was sure I was doing the right thing. I just wanted it all to end. I was sure I was making the right decision. It actually felt good. A release from everything. But all that was several decades ago. It didn’t work, and I’m still here. Decades that have been filled with love, friendship, and family. I had to crawl through a river of shit, but I found the way out. I’ve had to tell a girlfriend that I understood that same way of thinking, and then later had to tell my child the same thing. I watched a friend lose this battle. He thought no-one cared, and decades later his friends and family still wish we could tell him how wrong he was. We all go through hopelessness. We all have pain. So many of us think about ending it. The thing is, If you’re going through hell… keep going. Find the other side. You’ve got so many experiences ahead of you. A life you can’t imagine right now. It does get better. The life you hate now will be totally different from the one you will build for your adult self. You don’t have to be contained by the location or people you’re around right now. You will be able to leave and build a life you can be proud of. It won’t get better quickly, but eventually you’ll notice you’re not in the same mental headspace. If you don’t like your life don’t end it, change it. You’re at the beginning of your journey. No-one is telling you it will be easy. It frankly won’t be. Dear god life can suck sometimes. But there’s love and births, relationships and friendships, chocolate and puppies… there’s actually quite a lot of good out there, even when it’s hard to find. It can be worthwhile, but you have to try.
If you don’t have the right support, don’t be afraid to reach out and ask others for help. There are resources and people who care, even when it doesn’t seem like it’s true. If you don’t feel comfortable as yourself, make the personal changes that make you happy in your own skin. To hell with anyone that doesn’t understand that. Start working to build a better you, then put yourself out there and find people who like you for who you are. This is a journey of a thousand steps. Choose the challenge of walking the path, not trying to jump off it. There’s just too much ahead for you to lose hope because the present sucks. As someone else who has been where you are now let me tell you, don’t give up. Find a better way. I can’t make it better, but I can tell you I’ve been there. So many of us have been there. Believe in yourself. It gets better. You can do this.

Have you recently been injured in an accident in California? If so, you might be entitled to compensation for those injuries. That compensation can go a long way toward paying down your medical bills, making up for lost wages due to the accident, and so much more. To obtain the funds you need to make your recovery easier, you need to file a personal injury lawsuit in California. Understanding the California personal injury lawsuit process is the first step to filing a successful claim in court.

The Basics Of The California Personal Injury Lawsuit Process

In the immediate aftermath of an accident that led to injury, you might not be thinking about filing a lawsuit. You might be focused only on what happened and the emergency help you might need. That being said, the decisions you make at the scene of the accident can have a long-lasting impact on your health and your potential to recover damages in the personal injury claim process. Let’s look at what needs to happen to present the strongest case possible.

Get Medical Attention

First things first: Make sure you’re as okay as you can be. That means getting medical attention right away. If you have severe injuries, calling for emergency services is your first step. If you don’t seem to have severe injuries, you should go straight to the doctor’s office anyway. The idea is twofold: First, you want to be checked out thoroughly and have any injuries treated immediately. Injuries left untreated can quickly get worse. Second, by getting professional medical attention, you ensure that your injuries are well-documented. That record of injuries and treatment will be vitally important when you file a personal injury claim.

Get All The Evidence

The more evidence you have of what happened, the better off you will be in court. No detail is too small. Take photographs of the scene or record the aftermath in a video clip on your phone. If you were in a car accident and you happened to have a dash cam, the footage on that camera can be incredibly valuable when you file a personal injury claim.
If you were seriously injured and didn’t have the opportunity to record anything about the scene, write down everything you can remember as soon as possible. Memories can become fuzzy over time, so write it down while the thoughts are still sharp and clear.

Turning Onto A Larger Road

When we turn onto a more significant road, we should always yield the right of way to oncoming traffic.
This includes driving down side roads, parking lots, driveways, alleys, and private roads. We need to take extra precautions because car accidents can coincide from almost any direction at the same intersection. So remember to pay attention to those yield signs!

Follow Proper Reporting Procedures

The way you report the accident depends upon what happened and where it happened. For instance, a car accident should always be reported to local law enforcement; if it needs to be reported elsewhere, they can give you guidance. If it happened at work or on a job site, follow your employer’s instructions for reporting the incident. No matter who the accident is reported to, remember to document everything, either by taking photographs and video, or writing it down. It’s also a good idea to get information from any witnesses to the accident.

Get A California Personal Injury Attorney

The California personal injury lawsuit process can be overwhelming. Fortunately, the attorneys at McCrary Law Firm are well-trained to handle every facet of your personal injury claim. We can look over your information to determine the strength of your claim and how to proceed, and then walk you through the process of recovering what you deserve.
Additionally, we have a Natomas UbeLyft Rideshare Accident Lawyer who has access to all data pertaining to UbeLyft incidents.

What Can You Recover In A Personal Injury Lawsuit In California?

When we talk about recovering damages in a personal injury lawsuit, there are a few different types. Economic damages are meant to compensate you for medical bills, the costs of medication, the cost of a new vehicle or repair of the old one, any special equipment needed to deal with your injuries, and more. Economic damages are for things that have an actual dollar amount attached to them. You can present the court with receipts and estimates for these damages.
Non-economic damages are those that don’t have an objective value. This might include compensation for the pain and suffering you experienced after the accident. It might take into account loss of the ability to do things on your own or the loss of life’s pleasures – what is that worth? Members of a jury can’t put a clear dollar amount on these sorts of damages, but they can award a figure that reflects what they believe you’ve endured throughout the personal injury ordeal.
In the California personal injury lawsuit process, you will quickly discover there is no cap on the amount you can recover in economic or non-economic damages, with one exception: There is a $250,000 cap on non-economic damages awarded in a medical malpractice lawsuit in California. While economic damages as a result of medical malpractice have no limit, only $250,000 can be awarded for pain and suffering.

The Statute Of Limitations On Personal Injury Claims In California

A statute of limitations exists in the legal world to prevent plaintiffs from coming to court with a case that could be decades old. The statute of limitations on personal injury claims in California says that if you have bodily injury as the result of an accident, you have two years from the date of the injury to file a claim. There are some exceptions to this rule, such as when the government is at fault for the accident or when extenuating circumstances exist. Most individuals, however, will have to abide by the two-year statute of limitations.
This is a good reason to hire an attorney as soon as you can, because they can keep you informed and up-to-date on the statute of limitations and help you decide the timing of your claim.

How The California Personal Injury Lawsuit Process Works

Filing a personal injury suit in California courts doesn’t start with the lawsuit itself. It actually begins with a letter sent to the individuals who were involved in the accident.

The Demand Letter

After we investigate your case and determine that you do have a basis for a personal injury claim, we will create a demand letter. This letter notifies the other party of your intent to file a claim to recover damages. It might be sent to the individual themselves, to their insurance company, or to their attorney (if they have one). The letter will explain the situation, why we believe they are liable for damages, and the compensation that we believe is fair. This will be their opportunity to settle out of court.
In many cases, the demand letter will be rejected or simply ignored. That’s when we file the lawsuit.

The Claim For Damages

If the demand letter doesn’t get any traction, your attorney will file a formal claim in the proper California court. The claim notifies the other party, now known as the defendant, of your intention to recover compensation for your injuries. The claim will explain the law, lay out the facts of your case, and make a compelling argument about why the defendant is responsible for your injuries and should be required to compensate you appropriately.
They could ignore the demand letter, but they can’t ignore a lawsuit. If they try to ignore it, the court will enter a default judgment in your favor – so it is in their best interest to respond. Though they might ask to settle the case, they will likely reject your claims and want to take the case to court.

The Discovery Process

After the initial back-and-forth in court, the discovery process begins. This requires both parties to disclose information and evidence from each side that might be relevant to the case and allows for each side to formally question witnesses and individuals who might shed light on what happened. This formal questioning is called a deposition, and it is given under oath. This means that the person giving the deposition is legally bound by what they say in the deposition. These testimonies can be a strong element of the case.

The Settlement Negotiations

When each side sees the discovery and evaluates just how strong the case really is, a settlement might be offered. In fact, the vast majority of cases wind up being settled before they go to trial. Your attorney will look at the discovery and the odds of winning at trial to come up with a number that you find acceptable, and then there will usually be some discussion between the two sides to settle the case.

What If Your California Personal Injury Claim Doesn’t Settle?

If the case doesn’t settle, it’s time to go to trial. Though the trial can be quite time-consuming, stressful, and expensive, sometimes the settlement offer is far too low to cover your medical bills – and that’s before you take into account other costs as a result of your injuries. Talk with your attorney to be certain that going to trial is the best course of action for you.
When you go to trial, a judge or jury will make the decision: Should you be awarded damages, and in what amount? The trial might last for anywhere from a day to several weeks, depending upon the complexity of the situation. And in the end, you might not get your compensation right away, as the judgment and award can be subject to appeal by either side.

Choose The Right Attorney For Your Case

When you are choosing an attorney to represent you in your personal injury lawsuit in California, look to a seasoned, trusted attorney at the McCrary Law Firm. Our attorneys serve Northern California car accident victims as well as those who have sustained other personal injuries and need help navigating their way through the courts. An attorney with a reputation for winning cases can be more than enough incentive for the defendant to offer a proper settlement, but if they don’t, we have the skills and knowledge to represent you well in the courtroom. 2023.03.23 07:53 Independent-Shift-36 Maybe it’s me.

Sometimes, most of the time rather, I feel ashamed of myself for hating my job and not trying my hardest. I am an employment advisor. I am tasked with helping individuals with disabilities find work. I help them with resumes, cover letters, interviews, etc. A lot of people think that it is such an amazing thing to do, helping people and all, but honestly with all the paperwork and politics and the fact that I feel like I am a bad fit for the company and was only given the position out of desperation and politics, I an in tears before I even get out of bed.
I have to speak to a group of clients every week about topics that are relevant to getting a job and staying employed, like conflict resolution and how to stay motivated and how to manage your emotions. But these are all skills that I struggle with myself.
I feel like an imposter, a false prophet while I’m at work. I feel morally wrong for not being passionate about what I do. It feels like everyone can tell I don’t belong there. Plus, the constant networking and follow up I am expected to do. Dealing with employers and parents and teachers and counselors, everyone wanting peak performance from you. I find myself completely overwhelmed.
And it’s not like my coworkers are toxic or anything. It’s just the nature of the place plus my social anxiety and core values don’t play well together. Sometimes I feel like I should be grateful, other times I feel like I can’t stomach another week.

2023.03.23 07:52 Gaijinloco Nephew a Victim of a Hate Crime - Lawyer Needed in Southern Japan [Serious]

Hi everyone,
My nephew is half Japanese and half Filipino, though he has lived nearly all of his life in Japan. He lives in Kyushu, and was assaulted while working at his baito by some guy that bullied him when he was in elementary school.
In the assault, the guy injured my nephew's eye, and a doctor has said that he may have some impairment permanently.
The shop owner called the police, but the kid had already run off. As it turns out, the kid's parents found out the police were after their son, and drove him to his uncle's house so he could hide there. They then lied to the police, and told them that they hadn't seen their son. Well, they also neglected to mention that the son was on the lam when they left him with the uncle. So, the uncle took the kid to his high school, where the police were waiting for him.
The kid was arrested and jailed, and was subsequently expelled from his high school. During his interrogation he literally told the police that he attacked my nephew because he was Filipino.
How is this type of thing handled in Japan? I am telling my family to lawyer up, but is there anything specifically that they should do to ensure that my nephew is compensated for the injury he sustained?
The son is 17, so he was charged with a misdemeanor, but can action be taken against the rest of the family? How does financial compensation for an injury sustained during a crime work there in Japan? I think the father that helped his son evade the police is jettai (if it is relevant).

2023.03.23 07:50 hey_mehcarena Legally sober

So after a lot of progress over the past few years, this sub being a good community to facilitate that progress, I done fucked up. About a month ago, I wrecked my car. I planned to spend the evening at home with my doggo, but I moved my mother here during covid and that's been a huge catalyst for drinking even while I was getting better at controlling it. She moved out when I was 7, I grew up with my amazing, supportive father, couldn't be happier with the job he did. She was abusive and when she left, things changed for the better. The things she did before she left are a big part of why I've struggled throughout life, ptsd, depression, anxiety, on top of untreated adhd, etc. We had a huge fight that night, not started by me. She has serious anger issues and from my understanding of psychology from college and my own research, she's likely a classic narcissist. It's seriously hard to live with her and her viewpoint of life is skewed to say the least. After her throwing things and going all out insane, I had to get away from her. I went to the place I thought I could escape to, the bar I used to work for. I decided to drive after being there for a couple hours and drinking enough to have been there the whole day in that short time. I wrecked my car and was arrested and went to jail. Everything has turned upside down. I've never been in trouble with the law my whole life. Not sure what I'm looking to gain from this post aside from moral support, but this was the year I hoped to go back to school, but with a dwi, I can expect not to be allowed to pursue it anymore. I'm still awaiting court proceedings to know how it will all play out. I'm devastated to say the least. I just hope I can fight this and come out without it ruining my whole life. Whoever out there needs to hear this, it's not worth it. It didn't make me feel better, it didn't fix anything, and it has ruined my future and taken my whole meager savings. Now I'm stuck with her for another year on a new lease because I can't afford to separate from her due to legal expenses. It was all I hoped for the past year and now I'm stuck. Don't be like me, don't expect drinking to fix the problems, it will only compound them. I just hope someone else doesn't make the same mistakes I have. Went the whole month of January and most of February without a drop and now I'm facing serious charges. It can all change in such a short time. Yall stay strong and don't be like me. Thanks to all of you for being a source to help me get control of my drinking, even though I dropped the ball when it really mattered.

2023.03.23 07:45 Money-Maker111 💚 $BBIG 💚 U.S.-based and more secure, Lomotif app ("Lomo" for short) would become the new home for about 150 Million TikTok users due to a "wartime ban" on the Chinese-affiliated TikTok

💚 $BBIG 💚 U.S.-based and more secure, Lomotif app (

The ticker is $BBIG. They own \"Lomo\" (Lomotif app).

As the U.S. Government actively bans TikTok for all 150M users (the gov't already banned TikTok usage across Government agencies), Lomotif, which is a similar app (U.S. based, secure, and even more user-friendly than TikTok), would probably absorb that market share.

Quick notes

This is why, today, I am bullish again on a former favorite:

$BBIG also happens to be in the meme stock basket, and is extremely discounted. The name of the company is Vinco Ventures, Inc.
I, personally, see $BBIG ownership as a unique opportunity to benefit from this transition away from TikTok (a chinese intelligence and warfare scam)
My heart is still applied to Bed Bath and Beyond $BBBY, aka 'My Baby'. This will not change any time soon. Yet, how can I ignore the clear discount, and historic opportunity, in $BBIG? Therefore, any four-letter ticker that begins with 'BB' is "Bullish Baby" [preemptive-self-cringe]

Technicals

$BBIG has a low market cap (primed for growth), sporting a price that is now discounted at just a third of a dollar per share

Check out some of these sample Lomotif videos below

This is the first one that popped up on the cool app

This is the second one that popped up on the cool app

TLDR:

The U.S. Government is already commencing its ban on TikTok across agencies, as it appears the company is not willing to comply to remove its Chinese-communist-backed connections. Regarding the national ban, these 150 Million American users would likely move to Lomotif app, which is owned by $BBIG (Vinco Ventures Inc, which also conveniently happens to be a highly-investable, unbankruptable, and substantially-discounted 'meme' stock). I like this stock.

2023.03.23 07:43 SpecificMaleficent84 My ex told her lawyer we are legally married

Long story but basically my ex and I split toward the end of 2021. She had indicated on multiple occasions that we were legally married and that I signed a marriage certificate on December 9th 2021 however we were not even in the same state together at that point. Recently she has been withholding my son from me and blackmailing me into giving her more money privately in order to see my son (I pay child support) She recently went to a lawyer and had them send an email outlining my ex’s “proposal” 2 nights a month with my son plus other ridiculous things which aren’t as important. In the letter it states “you are still legally married”
I asked my ex for a copy of the marriage certificate knowing I have never signed anything. Her response was “it hasn’t arrived yet” this was more than a year after the marriage was “filed” so I asked which state the marriage was registered in and applied for a “single status certificate” which states I am definitely NOT married.
She is blackmailing, threatening and manipulating me into doing what she wants knowing how badly I want more time with my son.
Is there any legal repercussions of her actions or is it just “too bad” for me?

2023.03.23 07:41 lensmartonline1 Everything about anti-fatigue lenses you should know

Today, almost everyone spends hours in front of computer screens - either for work or binge-watching series and movies. Others spend their hours reading books, much of which have smaller letters. All these scenarios surely test one’s ocular muscles. These muscles are expected to respond appropriately and adjust to distant and near visions.
While you can do some eye exercise to prevent eye fatigue, there are also what they call anti-fatigue glasses. This may be new to some, but these glasses help wearers relax one’s focusing system. Additionally, they help prevent the muscles’ overworking and exhaustion, which control the person’s focusing system. The upper section of the lens ensures excellent distance vision with a slight change in power to the bottom part of the lens. This design offers additional prescription in helping relieve possible strains of near vision work. In essence, anti-fatigue lenses do the job instead of the eyes.

Are anti-fatigue lenses worth it?
Generally, anti-fatigue lenses are approximately three times the price of the standard vision lens. However, they guarantee the worth of your investment if you are someone who feels visual fatigue after long hours of close-distance work. Also, they can alleviate blurred vision, tired eyes, and headaches that result from long hours of writing, reading, and too much screen work.
Additionally, these glasses allow wearers to comfortably see objects close to them, which can be a severe problem for those having difficulty seeing near vision. In some cases, an anti-fatigue lens helps reduce the presbyopia progression. Furthermore, it reduces symptoms of digital eye strain, which is a risk factor for muscular degeneration. More importantly, they are even easier to adjust to, and few people reject these glasses after using them.
Anti-fatigue lenses vs. bifocal lenses
Bifocal lenses are usually prescribed to people aged forty and up. These lenses have two lens powers helping wearers see things at all distances after losing the ability to naturally and easily change eye focus because of age. However, one of the downsides with these lenses is that wearers might not get used to them immediately, especially those who are used to having single-lens glasses.
Meanwhile, anti-fatigue glasses reduce the harmful effects of several light sources going directly into the cornea. These light sources can significantly come from computers, smartphones, tablets, televisions, or tablets. In general, these are good factors why you need anti-fatigue lenses, especially if you spend too much on gadgets. However, it is also essential to note that these lenses are not designed to correct visual defects like nearsightedness or farsightedness. Also, they do not improve one’s eyesight by visual acuity optimization.
Anti-fatigue lenses vs. blue light blocking lenses
Blue light blocking lenses are crafted lenses capable of blocking or filtering out blue lights generated from digital screens. Additionally, these lenses keep the retina from the risk of macular degeneration, which can eventually lead to blindness. However, one downside of blue-blocking lenses is that they are not ideal for preventing possible eye strain.
As you may know, anti-fatigue glasses help reduce eye strain, lessen the harmful effects brought by light sources, and adjust wearers’ vision as they shift from seeing near and distant objects. These lenses are more expensive than other regular glasses with all these benefits.
How to choose the right anti-fatigue lenses?
Before choosing the right anti-fatigue lenses for you, it pays to consider the following factors first.
  1. You are not presbyopic or do not have any symptoms of the condition. Most probably, you also need to be at least 15-40 years old.
  2. You are experiencing visual fatigue and eye strain after computer work, reading, and other near vision tasks.
  3. Pre-presbyopic individuals.
  4. You are having problems with the eye team and focusing system.
Before purchasing these lenses, it would be beneficial to see an eye doctor first. Check whether you really need anti-fatigue lenses. In some cases, doctors will also advise you to do various eye exercises to alleviate eye strain. However, if other eye conditions persist, you may consider buying one. Additionally, these lenses are far more expensive than single vision lenses, and they might be one of the primary considerations when choosing anti-fatigue lenses.

2023.03.23 07:35 SandwichPositive6012 3 letter agency top secret clearance

I am in the process of applying with a 3 letter agency and I was let go at my first job at Dominoes for smoking weed. It was when I was 16 and that was over 10 years ago. I am in my late 20’s now, have kept consistent good employment ever since then, no debt, no criminal record, never gotten any charges, have my bachelors and i just got my masters graduated last year. I’ve turned my life around ever since high school but I’m wondering if I will have to disclose that the reason I was let go was for smoking pot behind the Dominoes?
That specific Dominoes location no longer exists anymore, it is now a hardware store. Will that prevent from obtaining a clearance? How far back do they go or do they not interview supervisors that far back since it was over 10 years ago and I was under 18?

2023.03.23 07:26 AdAdvanced7372 Can I get into master program in Germany/Netherlands ?

Hello everyone. So, I am currently a sophomore, and wondering if I will be able to manage it somehow to a graduate school after the graduation. I want to go into the master program, not PhD right away. I'm a student at the dept of Business at METU (one of the best schools in Turkey, ranked decently as for a Turkish university) by the way So, my plan is - keep my CGPA at 3.5+ at least (aiming for 3.6-3.7) - minor in Economics(2 macro+micro theory courses, 2 semesters of mathematical statistics and econometrics, some data science(kind of an applied econometrics), 2 semesters of international economics and monetary+fiscal policy - minor in Math(2 adv.calculus courses + 2 of linear algebra. For others I don't know but I will choose 2-4 out of these: optimization, game theory, analysis, probability theory, differential equations) - get letter of recommendation - try to find an internship in some economics related sector(treasuries/CB/commercial banks) or working with data(data scientist or smth)
It's just a rough roadmap I have built to myself. I will also take 2-4 finance courses from my own department. I can't change my major for number of reasons, but it's reasonably easy, so I can do all those concurrently with my main program. I would be grateful if you shared your opinions - with that background, will I be able to get into a master degree in Germany(Netherlands - second one) ? If yes, is it possible to get scholarships too? - what do you think of my plan overall? Valid? What courses would you have added / removed?

2023.03.23 07:23 SpaceSoapCosmonaut Watching mean girls before bed causes insanely trippy dreams.

Ok, this isn’t a troll post, so just bare with me. I have watched mean girls before and during my sleep (listening to the movie) and am convinced that it completely alters your consciousness.
The first time I tried this I was sleeping with the movie in my earbuds, immediately I saw all kinds of beautiful colors as the voices were talking and the colors expanded to spinning, multicolored vibrant circles that then led to this beautiful, ancient Egyptian looking tunnel that was made of all geometric shapes and imagery. I then saw and felt myself sl,it from myself and turn into Regina George (a character from the movie) and see myself and all my flaws and how to get rid of them, I then saw myself fly into a post it note cyclone and then to the burn book and then burn up in napalm Flames.
The second time, I had an insane trip that lasted for 40 minutes and took me on a journey through the American Civil War. In the dream, I found myself fighting for the Union to end slavery and was victorious over the Confederates. I was a soldier but then died and became a gun, I saw each bullet had a negative trait about me and a reason for it on it, and it shot away and turned into cat fur, but then things turned trippier as boats began flying overhead and a giant, enlarged version of a mattress started doing cartwheels. Karen, one of the characters from the movie, was smoking on a modern looking park bench, I ran there and I hugged her, but then the sky turned pink and I became the cigarette. I screamed for her not to smoke me to death, and she threw me away, saying "SHIT," with each letter dancing out of her mouth and turning into a tiny helicopter.
In another part of the dream, I became a Vietnam-era US soldier and tried looking at the ground, but every inanimate object was breathing. My helmet talked to me and told me that I was one with nothing and that popularity is a lie, it also analyzed the meaning of words and how sex is overvalued in society, I then saw many pornographic pictures being destroyed by a giant walrus with long blonde hair and a dress that was repeating the name, “Anna Nicole Smith,” I was then greeted by myself, but I was the soldier, not myself. As the soldier, I could see what I did wrong in life and figured out how to change it.
But that's not all. In another dream after watching Mean Girls, I found myself inside the movie with free reign over what I did. I became one with the movie and developed a relationship with Karen. I even won the lottery and bought myself a UH-1 Huey helicopter, blasting "Fortunate Son" from the speakers.
I know it may sound crazy, but these dreams were some of the most vivid and memorable experiences of my life. Watching Mean Girls before bed can transport you to a world of possibility and inspire your imagination in ways you never thought possible. So next time you're looking for a way to shake up your dreamscape, give Mean Girls a try. Who knows what kind of adventure awaits? Man, I was sad and depressed before, but this film showed me what I wanted in life!

2023.03.23 07:20 BIO9999 $NWBO The White House appears to be pushing for something big in the cell therapy world.

Earlier today, the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP) put out a new report "outlining a vision for what is possible with the power of biotechnology and biomanufacturing, and R&D needs to achieve this ambitious vision". The report is long and can be read here: https://www.whitehouse.gov/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/Bold-Goals-for-U.S.-Biotechnology-and-Biomanufacturing-Harnessing-Research-and-Development-To-Further-Societal-Goals-FINAL.pdf
Those statements in the report most relevant to $NWBO investors I've copied below. If you read between the lines, it almost hints that the FDA should go ahead and expeditiously approve cell therapies beyond CAR-T and CMS (Medicare/Medicaid) should reimburse them and that the government should go ahead and help educate the public and clinicians about their use....
Bold goals for the US bioeconomy include, for example.... Health: In 20 years, increase the manufacturing scale of cell-based therapies to expand access, decrease health inequities, and decrease the manufacturing cost of cell-based therapies 10-fold.
Theme 3, biomanufacturing of cell-based therapies, includes bold goals to expand the toolset of technologies used to create cell-based therapies to achieve high viability and targeted delivery at the time of patient administration, as well as expand access to cell-based therapies to decrease health inequities. This theme focuses on equitable access to next-generation therapy.
Goal 3.1: Increase Therapeutic Efficacy – In 5 years, expand the technologies used to develop cell-based therapies to achieve at least 75% cell viability in patients. Goal 3.2: Enable Scale-Up – In 20 years, increase the manufacturing scale of cell-based therapies to expand access, decrease health inequities, and decrease the manufacturing cost of cell-based therapies 10-fold.
R&D Needs
Harmonization and advancement toward these bold goals could be pursued in consultation with the agencies that support research into cell-based therapies (e.g., NIH), support biomanufacturing-capacity investments (e.g., BARDA), and approve cell-based therapies for clinical use (e.g., FDA) and reimburse patients for their use (e.g., CMS).
Harmonize methods and standards across cell-based therapy manufacturing facilities by cell types, reducing cost and wait time. The clinical-scale manufacturing of certain cell-based therapeutics is already in place but could benefit from coordination and regulatory insight*. • Develop modular, platform-engineered cell-based technologies* alongside patient-specific formulations*. •* Provide access to clinical-scale, cell-based manufacturing expertise as a national resource*. •* Test and de-risk new biomanufacturing practices for next-generation biotechnology products in commercial-quality manufacturing facilities.
Partner with clinicians and other hospital staff to create training materials to ensure equity of care across facilities and to consider equipment needs and assignment of clinical staff to patients receiving cell-based therapies*. •* Enhance public engagement for the acceptance of cell-based therapies, leveraging experience with existing cell-based therapies such as CAR-T cells*.*
Even the AI section mentions cell therapies:
Develop novel AI/ML methods to design therapeutics of every class (e.g., small molecules, biologics, peptides, and cell-based therapies*).*
They conclude by saying:
It will be important to seek patient and patient advocate perspectives through public private partnerships on the awareness and acceptance of novel cell-based therapies to develop implementation strategies that increase equity of access, relevant to Theme 3.
The writing is on the wall..., on the floor and everywhere else if you just look around.

2023.03.23 07:19 Pooja-12 What Does a Data Scientist Intern Do? – Know the Responsibilities

A data science intern does not run around debugging issues and printing out letters for employers. In fact, it's a profession that should be taken seriously to develop new abilities and apply your existing data science expertise to solve problems in the real-world practice
In this article, we will discuss the responsibilities, duties, and other tasks of a data scientist intern. Before we begin, don’t forget to have a look at an online data science course in Bangalore, to help become a certified data scientist in 6 months.
It is amazing to be a data scientist intern. Big data work is not exclusively a tech-savvy career. In reality, it's among the best careers out there, specifically for Gen Z.
The sexiest career of the 21st century, according to a recent survey, is data science, an emerging field. But, given that data science is a rapidly developing field of study with countless potential applications, this is unsurprising.
In fact, data science looks for specific responses and checks to see if the system has been changed or tweaked. Essentially, data science is a form of sleuthing. A team will work together to look for hints on how a specific problem might be solved. Be ready to work as a team, in other words.
You will network with experts in your field and collaborate with them as a research scientist intern, developing your professional development. Everyone agrees that an internship experience must always emphasize progress.
You'll constantly be aiming for three sorts of results that are very significant, aside from the standard data analysis tasks:
  1. Discover
  2. Innovations
  3. Insights
Just keep reading to learn more about the responsibilities and duties of research scientist interns and the difficulties they can encounter.

What Are the Duties and Tasks of an Intern Data Scientist?

Usually, the organization itself is responsible for the tasks. In established businesses, the process often entails simple data analysis and visualization. You must have a basic understanding of SQL and databases to receive your results.
Companies that prioritize R&D give you more work in the form of diverse machine learning models or profound learning techniques—building certain features or capabilities, including the ability to explore research papers. A solid background in math and computer science is necessary for this. There are many best data science courses in India, you can take advantage of. Visit the site to know more.
Here are a few examples of general duties that apply to both types of businesses:
After being briefed on the business requirements of the position, interns are expected to approach all duties with a customer-centric mindset because the client's needs are of utmost importance. With regard to upcoming duties and challenges, this lays out a clear path, especially in light of shifting market expectations.
Remember that a company ultimately employs you. Thus all of your issues are connected to the enterprise. As a result, either be ready for a description of how firms operate or remember to inquire.
Interns examine data to address issues and determine how to categorize the material until those data standards are firmly established. This is where they look for and note correlations in the datasets, but remember that correlation does not imply causality.
Here, innovative problem-solving is essential. Data scientist interns not only work to find answers to data problems that are becoming increasingly problematic; they also think creatively to solve new issues that develop due to shifting data dynamics brought on by the quick-paced IT sector.
Once the data has been categorized, another challenge would be to identify key traits or, in the absence of data dimensions, to build features. The evaluation of the various components and the setup of the training/test outcomes are essential steps in this procedure.
Interns would continue to compare various models indefinitely if a model existed at this time, which it doesn't in most cases, with the express intent of learning and enhancing their own performance. Modifications to models and on-the-spot data analysis while presenting would be part of the later stages.
It takes quick thinking and improvisation to conduct a spontaneous examination of data. Regular practice is the only way to accomplish this. In order to find the most well-known answers, it is crucial to relate new data problems to analogous issues that have already been encountered.

Conclusion

The best course of action is to determine and contrast it with any previous models if there is a good model for a specific problem. In order to determine whether the model's work and energy resulted in changes of a few decimals or not, this is necessary. You should enroll in some online classes if these are new to you.

A Good Point to Recall

Remember that an internship is typically viewed as a learning experience, so you shouldn't expect to be as technically proficient as a full-stack data scientist. It also depends on what semester you are in college. Undoubtedly, a senior will be regarded as having more information than a junior.
You will have the chance to collaborate closely with a knowledgeable group of data analysts in a relaxed work environment as a data science intern. Your staff knows you are there to learn, as is customary. You must obviously give the assignment your best effort if you're serious about pursuing a data science career or a related subject. There's a chance that you'll find employment here. Hence, make the most of the chance to "learn" wherever possible.
Also, if you are planning to pursue a career as a data scientist, you can take your first by registering in the best data science course in Hyderabad and working on capstone and live projects.

2023.03.23 07:19 baraqueBurak Junior web developer seeking for advice

Hello everyone, I am a junior web developer seeking advice on how to land my first job in Brisbane. My coding journey started 1.5 years ago as self-taught, and then I enrolled in a full-stack bootcamp course. So far I have learned HTML/CSS, JavaScript, Ruby, React, Node.js(express), Sqlite, PostgreSQL and NoSQL database management(firebase, mongoDB). Also, I know how to build API, and have an understanding of how cloud services work.
Although I enjoy learning and creating new things, I have recently been focusing on improving my skills in mobile development with React Native and Flutter. Currently, I have completed some personal projects, and I am aware that portfolio are important, therefore I have started building one. However, I am unsure if my current skills, resume, portfolio, and cover letter are enough to land me a web developer job. I am aware of the high demand for developers, but I also know that the competition for junior positions is tough (with more than 200 applicants for the same position sometimes). I have been looking for a job for 2-3 months and had three job interviews so far. Although I know that some people have been applying for jobs longer than I have, I am wondering if I was lucky to have these interviews, and if my resume, cover letter, and personal projects need improvement.
I am open to internships, but it appears that a school or university enrollment is required for the contract, and it is not permitted to work for free in Australia to gain experience. I would love to hear any advice from other developers on how to improve my resume, GitHub projects, and chances of landing a job. Thank you in advance!
